His eyes were glued to her. How was she more beautiful then he recalled in buried memories. It wasn't until a man came in taking his place beside her. Did Lucas quickly remember she had a husband. Haley had mentioned it briefly when it just happened that a few years ago.

He was well known in the business world. Rich. They seemed to fit. Lucas was then brought back down to earth. Who he and Brooke were to each other ended a long time ago. They had both moved on.

Lucas wrapped his arms around Rachel.

She smiled pulling him into a kiss.

"I'm going to go check on gift table. Will you be okay here without me.?" Lucas asked.

"Yes. Just fine. Remind T that we have to fill out thank you cards for everyone who brought him something." Rachel said.

"I will." Lucas said. Giving her one last kiss before leaving her side.

"It looks like the two of you have grown alot closer. And i for one fully support it. Nathan and I both do." Haley stated.

"I apreciate that. But Lucas and I aren't an official couple. We are casually involved with each other." Rachel clarified.

"But it's clear you're feelings are alot more then casual." Haley said.

"Am i that easy to read.?" Rachel questioned.

"Only to people with eyes and ears. The way the two of you speak of each other. Holding each other in the highest regard. Says alot. Tell him how you feel. Why hold it in.? The two of you have been single for years now. What are you risking by being honest.?" Haley asked.

"We picked you and Lucas as the godparents for Jolene and Jameson." Nathan revealed.

"We fully accept the honor." Rachel said.

Rejection. That's what she was risking. But she knew this couldn't go forever. She needed to know how he felt.

...

"I wasn't exactly sure what to get for Theo. I hope he likes my gift." Brooke stated. Looking to Lucas.

"He's grateful for anything he gets. We make it a point to keep him humble. That way he is appreciative with the life he has. We worked hard to have what we do. Money isn't everything." Lucas said.

"I would of given up every cent i had. If it meant having the love and support of parents who truly loved me. So i get what you mean." Brooke replied.

Feeling a hand take hers. She smiled shyly and turned to her husband.

"Luke. Meet my husband." Brooke stated.

Lucas extended his hand to the a mental note of how formally the guy was dressed for a children's birthday party.

"Lucas Scott. Thanks for coming." He said.

"Vince Carson." The man replied. Keeping his arms at his side.

"Could you get me something to eat.? There should be snacks somewhere around here." Brooke questioned.

" We aren't actually eating any of this. Right.? It's from a diner." Vince whispered in her ear.

Brooke's eyes went wide. She suddenly became overcome with humiliation.

"Daddy come on watch me play!" Theo exclaimed. From the front door a basketball in his hands.

"I have a business call to make. If you'll excuse me." Vince stated. Turning away Lucas.

"So how's married life treating you.?" Lucas asked.

"I try not to keep count of my regrets. But marrying him was one of them." Brooke admitted.

"Daddy!" Theo exclaimed louder.

"I'll be right there T." Lucas replied.

"Daddy duty calls go on." Brooke said.

Lucas turned from Brooke as he left the entryway.

Brooke felt her heart clench as she spotted a family photo featuring . Theo. And Lilly. They were a family.

It hurts doesn't it.? Seeing the life that could have been yours.? The small voice inside her head echoed.

"When were you going to tell me that you were pregnant in high school. With that peasant's baby.? But i guess it ended the way it should have. You being tied to him would have ruined you're life." Victoria Davis said.

The shock of her mother's presence turned Brooke fully around.

Her gaze locked on the older Davis woman.

...
