It was the next day and it was during lunch hour. Starfire slept well and she hung out with her friends as usual. The trio went into the lobby area. Their backs laid behind the cold metal chairs, the ones that fold. Starfire sat in the middle, clenching onto her favorite source... Mustard.
The TV turned on, and the news began... Everyone in the room watched carefully, including Starfire herself.
"BREAKING NEWS: Good afternoon, Thanks for joining us today. Today we go to our top story that made the national headlines across the world. We are finding out if the police investigation has turned up new information in the Starfire case."
The screen separated the TV reporter to the left side and the pictures on the right side. Showing the picture of Dr. Light.
"It is long known on the internet that Arthur Light, also known as Dr. Light, has had a crush on the Titan, Starfire. It was at first believed that his death was caused by her disgust of his feelings. However, reports say that a former friend of Dr. Light got a hold of the documents of his autopsy, and hid them for privacy reasons. These documents have been revealed and uncovered. Revealing that Dr. Light was not killed by the blast from the Teen Titan, His death was caused by a seizure."
Starfire gasped as she dropped the empty bottle of Mustard. She was in shock. She kept listening.
"Besides the fact that she did not cause his death, Starfire was unfairly charged with murder in the first degree. After some interviews with the members of the jury, the supporters of the anti-Titan act were firmly voted down by the city legislature. We will be closing this case and hoping to see our favorite alien Titan back on the streets soon. This is Jump City News, I'm Karli Davidson."
Starfire flew into the air and just screamed her head off. Her friends and inmates that joined them cheered for her. Starfire lowered her flight and her friends were hugging her. Starfire felt her feet being lifted off the ground and it's because her friends picked her up and they cheered for her louder. Starfire raised a fist in the air for gratitude.
On the same day, it was the afternoon. Starfire packed her belongings and redid her bed for the next inmate for use. Starfire went down and went into the changing room. She took off the jumpsuit easily and slipped back into her favorite apparel clothing.
Starfire lifted the curtains and stretched her arms in relief. She saw her top and mini skirt back, and she was also glad to see her metal guards back on too.
Starfire stood outside of the entrance of the facility. Seeing her friends were allowed to say one last goodbye to her before they returned.
Starfire turned around and looked at her two friends.
"So... I guess this is goodbye?" Skylar asked in a sad tone.
"Unfortunately, yes, friend Skylar. But I'll never forget you both."
"See you on the outside?" Demetra said.
"Yes, be sure to look me up when you get out. Or both of you. You will take care of each other and support each other, yes?"
Demetra and Skylar looked at each other. They got to admit it. They are pretty good friends. And hearing Starfire's promise was a challenge for them. But they gladly took it cause their friendship was strong enough.
"We will. And we promise. Don't worry about us, Starfire. We can handle this."
"I have the joy!"
"And you too. Look after your friends and yourself." Skylar said.
"I will."
"Goodbye, Starfire... I hope to visit you soon." Demetra said and pulled Starfire for one last hug. Starfire held her tight, hoping this one is good.
Once they got a good 5-minute hug, Starfire turned to Skylar, who was already starting to cry. Starfire smiled and held her in her embrace. Skylar cried, not even wanting her friend to go. Demetra patted her upper back, knowing that 'it's gonna be alright'. Starfire looked down from Skylar's back. Hugging her in for a good one too.
Once Skylar calmed down, they all did one quick group hug. And then Starfire took two steps away from them.
Demetra and Skylar stood together in pride. Seeing Starfire one last time. Her hair flowed through the wind. Starfire smiled.
Starfire saw a guard walking to her and then giving her a handshake. Starfire accepted the handshake and then she floated.
Starfire floated further and further. Seeing her friends and the guard waving goodbye to her. Starfire waved back and then flew back to the Tower.
While Starfire was flying back home, she felt a bit sad, seeing her friends had to stay for longer days than her. Starfire wiped a few tears away and knew that this was no turning back. She had to get back home. It had been almost two months since she left. Starfire had changed recently. She got stronger, and a bit taller as well.
Starfire had made it back to Jump City. Flying over the city, and seeing no crime. She smiled when she flew past the pizza restaurant. She was close to home.
When Starfire lowered to the ground at the front of the Tower. She got nervous. It's been a while since she was gone, and now she is nervous?
Starfire got herself together and rang the doorbell.
'DING DONG!'
