The next morning, Luz and Amity accidentally woke up holding onto each other. They both blushed uncontrollably, moving away from each other as quickly as they could.
"Let's forget that ever happened," Amity said, still blushing like crazy.
"Agreed," Luz replied.
"Though it did feel kinda nice," Amity remarked with a slight smile on her face. She then blushed. "You did not just hear that!"
Luz blushed too. Every minute she was catching the gay disaster in Amity, but she didn't mind. If Amity liked her and she had her own way of showing it, why did it matter as long as she showed the signs.
"S-so, L-Luz, about what I asked you last night...," Amity said.
"I'd love to go out with you, but first I need to get a Christmas present for you," Luz said. She smiled. "I'm just messing with you. Here you go." She said, handing Amity a box.
"Oh, for me?" Amity said, "I don't know what to say..."
Now with the gift in hand, Amity examined the box to find out how to open it.
"You just rip it open," Luz said.
"R-rip it open?" Amity said, "Uh, I'm not sure. Maybe there's a more precise way to open it."
"Nope, that's the way alright," Luz said.
"Well, I guess you learn something new every day," Amity said, carefully ripping the beautiful wrapping paper, "It's just so pretty—I don't wanna destroy it."
"Take your time," Luz said, "Anyway, I'm sure you'll love it."
"I wouldn't say 'love' is the right word," Amity said, "We've already established that I suck at it."
So after 20 minutes of careful unwrapping, Amity held up the necklace. "I can't accept this."
"Why not?" Luz said.
"Y-you don't know my life," Amity said, "It can be, well, complicated."
"With siblings like those, I'm sure it's hell," Luz remarked.
Amity laughed. "Yeah, but for some reason around you I feel like I'm not pressured to be Little miss perfect, you know?"
"And I don't have to try to fit into the crowd, trying to be normal like everybody else," Luz said.
"I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree," said Amity.
"You can say that again," Luz said.
Amity let out another chuckle. "I guess so," she said, "Well, Luz, it's been fun. I'll see you another night for a date. Merry Christmas and have a good break!"
"Thank you!" Luz said as Amity was in the doorway, waving back at her, "You too!"
Overall, Luz was feeling a mix of emotions, but the one she felt most was a warm feeling in her heart.
