Ashen Blade Works
The Abyssal Oceanside
Chapter 10: My Sword: Our Blade Works Part 2
The initial point of contact between Gold, and Black and Blue, was thundering. The Axe head made contact with the straight black blade of the Abyss Seeker in one large exploding met.
To even give off such tremors when two opposing forces collided was mind-boggling.
Emiya forced his hands to rise to cover his face to guard himself against the powerful gust of wind. It whipped from the first collection of strikes traded between the two fighters. Fast enough to go missing from his eye only for him to snap his attention towards the smoking flames.
When it registered to Emiya's mind, he figured that the Golden Lion Knight had formed his Miniature Sun and used it to break contact with the white-haired Hunter. The first indication of this was the evidence plastered all over the flat side of her great sword. A scorch mark and steam. As for the wielder herself, she didn't look very frustrated.
Then again she didn't change her face option all that often from what he's so far seen of her.
Wide gold-silver eyes shrank down and closed, brows furrowing and a discussion on how he could meet up with Skadi while she held down the frontal assault.
Once his eyes snapped open, green lines formed on the left side of his face.
It was then that he moved to fight as well.
The Abyssal Oceanside
...
The giants' fingers slipped into the formed sun right before Skadi's eyes. She halted her next attack, far too curious for her good wanting to see what he was doing.
While nothing interesting at first, the sun began to shrink with a pop.
Shifting from a bolder size to a small crate. But it didn't stop there as it shrank and shrank, quickly into an invisible size.
It was then the Hunter noticed the distance between them after taking her eyes off the giant. Curiosity is now lost obviously.
The distance between them was rather large from their first series of blows traded. While she was strong on an unknown level, the mass of gold and pride was one of many she figured to be at least sturdy enough to shrug her attacks off. Even give them back with the same ferocity. While she didn't favor fighting like some others, a pang of pain caught her attention for some reason forcing her eyes shut.
"Ugh… why does that always happen when I feel close to remembering something important?" She would flinch and grip her face from the echo-like headache she received.
Before she could even refocus her attention on the battle she was in the Lion Knight exhaled steam from his supposed mouth, leaned forward-
And before reacting was a possibility, the Divine Axe the Lion Knight of Old used often was raised overhead to cleave her in two.
She… s-she didn't even see the massive frame move. Her red eyes were wide, locked onto the large chest before her. The Axe head blocked the sun and he seemed bigger than humanly possible at that moment. Far too big to be considered a simply giant. Her body couldn't be moved even if she commands it to. In a flash of light that seemed to be shot from the sun itself to render her down and to tear her in two, the Axe fell.
It would surely kill the Hunter of the Abyss. This would force her body to the bonfire, leaving the Red Knight to fend for himself.
Just like…
Just like with her friend.
Just like with Grani.
It fell like a falling star and before she could close her eyes...
Two intercepting lights of red crushed into the blade portion of the Axe knocked it off-center. It was so abrupt and out of nowhere that both herself and the attacker were left stunned.
"Skadi!" The Red Knight's voice called her true name with emotion, bringing her attention round to see him.
She saw him with his bow, a black sleek longbow far too shiny to be made from wood, in his left hand. If there was a quiver of arrows he had used, she didn't see it on him anywhere as he stood on the steps not even for feet away from the fog gate.
His silver-gold eyes were opened wide in her direction. His jaw was clenched tight and his expression was strained beyond belief. She could see and make mention of the emotions on his face.
Expressions that made the feeling in her chest cry out more.
Making more pain escape her chest.
"Get up!" Her breath hitched in her throat. The reality of the situation coming and blasting itself into her mind. Forcing her instincts into overdrive.
Taking this chance that Emiya most likely gave her, Skadi would tightly grip the handle of his greatsword, swinging her blade in an Arc, from earthbound to skyward. The blade connected against the gold medal and was crushed but the amount of effort she packed in that attack. It pushed into the skin sparking blood to splatter out in mass from both the wound and armor. This elected a loud guttery moan of pain and discomfort.
The Lion Knight growled and in visible anger, almost unlike a beast. He reacted and took a backhanded swipe with his left and made contact with the Hunter in a powerful and reckless attack.
Skidding back from the backhand, her blade picking up sparks as she used the tip to slow herself down, Skadi came to a halt by the cliffside of the arena. Reaching up to her face using her left hand, she tipped her fingers to her nose. The smell of iron was stuck in her mind now.
"Hmm… he hits hard…" she verbally noted to herself as she wiped away the blood dripping from her nose.
"Yeah, would have said that if you didn't just decide to jump ahead you know." Come the voice of Emiya as he just slides next to her, his large sleek black still in his left hand.
"Ah… I suppose…"
He smiled seeing at least she wasn't too fazed by that hit. "Well, if you reckon that you can keep going then I'll see to it I fix you something up. If we get to beat him that is.
"'Fix me something?'" Skadi questioned him, feeling like she knew what he meant but not quite there. He nodded his head and kept his eyes at the huffing beats of a giant. "You mean… food?"
"Yes, of course," that he extended his right hand to her. "So take my hand now, and let us be all the good in the world."
She… would gaze at him.
For several seconds it seemed like the feeling in her heart wouldn't stop increasing.
"Heya! Hey! Skadi!? Hey wake up, it's time for us to be heroes! Remember?" The memory of her friend's hand extended out to her appeared in his mind.
"Ah..." She… she took his hand without even noticing. Her eyes chalking over his frame and looking at his expression, glimpsing at his left arm.
Wait.
"Good," he said pulling her up to stand. Letting go he stepped forward in front of her, his black bow lifted and ready to be utilized.
And they focused their eyes on the giant standing side by side.
"My sword is for you."
All Emiya did was narrow his silver-gold eyes at the enemy. Ready to take the victory.
And ready to give his flame to fuel another.
End
