Hey guys! This AN is really just to clear something up: I know there's a lot of you who want this to end up being a Bemily pairing. I've reread some of the later chapters, and I can see it. But, this isn't what I had planned. I got to thinking though, and I've decided to write a Bemily story sometime in the future, after Operation-Not Expected and Creepily Lovely are finished. Honestly, I have no idea when that's going to be, but I do know it'll be next year for sure, so for those of you who want it, stay tuned!

On with the show, now!

Day 10- Ready to Get Out of Here?

Beca wakes up to the sound "Sexyback" by Justin Timberlake playing through her phone, and she groans as she rolls over in bed to answer the phone. Finally realizing it's Stacie who's calling, she sits up, starting to panic. "Stacie? Is Chloe ok?"

"Relax, Beca." Stacie laughs lightly on the other end, and Beca falls back into bed, letting out an overexaggerated sigh of relief. "I just wanted to let you know that she's being discharged today around nine."

"Nine in the morning?" She asks in shock.

"Yeah, so you might want to get your tiny little ass over here so you can sign the paperwork."

"Paperwork?" She blinks, and Stacie laughs again, this time a little more mockingly.

"Yes, Beca. Paperwork. Again, get over here as soon as you can." That being said, Stacie hangs up, and Beca stretches with a yawn before crawling out of bed. Deciding today's probably a little more important than yesterday was, what with Chloe coming to stay with her, she puts on a pair of black dress pants, a white button up shirt, and a black jacket over it. It looks a lot like a suit, but it technically isn't, and that's exactly why Beca loves this outfit. After changing, brushing her hair, and brushing her teeth, she checks her phone, seeing that it's eight o'clock. Hey, Chlo's being discharged, do you mind giving us a ride? I'd hate to drag her along in a taxi :( She quickly texts Emily, who responds right away.

Yeah, sure! I'll be over in ten minutes.

Perfect, thank you so much.

Anytime. She then slides her phone in her pocket and pours herself a bowl of cheerios to eat while she's waiting. As she's eating, though, her phone starts going off, one notification after another without pause. Confused, she pulls her phone out, clicking on the link that pops up in her texts with Theo and reading it.

Beca Mitchell Has a Girlfriend?

Singer/actress Beca Mitchell has been spotted with this redhead whom we know to be named Chloe Beale in several different places over the years; in fact, it's no secret they're best friends. But are they more than friends, or is it totally platonic? Mitchell was seen yesterday at the Lenox Hill Hospital, snuggling with the now well-known ginger who seems to have become the celeb's other half.

Many people around the world already "ship" these two, including actor Zac Efron, who said, "Beca and I are pretty good friends, I'd say, and even I think they'd be good together."

So the question is, will Chloe and Beca get together, making over half of America happy, or will they stay friends?

Beca groans as she finishes the article, then immediately texts Efron. Dude, what the hell? She stares at the phone for what feels like an eternity, but he never answers, so she puts her phone back in her pocket, five times more annoyed now than she was five minutes ago.

Suddenly, she hears a knock on the door, and she grabs her coat and wallet before opening it, walking right past Emily and outside. "Hey…" Emily says cautiously.

"Hey." She grunts back, climbing into the passenger seat of her car.

"Are you ok?" She asks, and Beca responds by showing her the article on her phone.

It doesn't take long for Emily to read it, and once she hands Beca the phone back, she says, "It's messed up and all, yeah, but you can't let that stuff get to your head. You never let it before."

"None of it was ever about Chloe before, though." She argues back, and Emily sighs.

"True, but think about it this way; if you let it bother you, then Chloe's going to let it bother her, and you don't want that, do you?"

"Not really." She sighs, giving Emily a weak smile. "How do you always know what the right thing to say is?"

"I don't." She chuckles. "Not always, anyway."

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that." She muses as they pull out into the street. "You can't form simple sentences around Stacie."

"Hey!" She laughs. "I can normally, I just couldn't yesterday, for some odd reason." A little more hesitantly, she adds, "I'm thinking about talking to her. I actually told Benji last night."

"Oh." Beca gasps. "What did he say?"

"He, uh, he said he needs some time to figure things out." She gives Beca a sad look, a tear slipping down her cheek. "Which I totally understand, but like, he deserved to know the truth, right?"

"Yeah, of course." She places a hand on Emily's shoulder comfortingly. "He's your husband, and if he truly loves you, you guys will figure this out."

"Now who's the one with the good advice?" Emily asks softly, but her lips turn upward into a small smile, and Beca considers that a victory in her brain.

"Eh." She shrugs nonchalantly, and Emily laughs. "Should I show Chloe the article? I mean, she deserves to know, right?"

"I'd show her." This time, it's the songwriter's turn to shrug. "Honestly, Chloe would probably laugh and say something along the lines of 'damn right that's my girlfriend' or 'aww, I can't believe people see this in us!'"

"Both of those are very accurate." Beca laughs. "You know, I never really noticed you two ever hanging out together."

"Because we always hung out whenever you were working or making mixes." Emily responds, glancing at her briefly. "She would walk me around campus my freshman year and show me her most and least favorite spots." With an amused smirk, she continues, "She even showed me the shower you guys had your duet in."

"Oh my God." She ducks her head as she feels the blush rising to her cheeks, and Emily laughs next to her. "That's not funny! I'm so yelling at her for that!"

"What, is that your special place or something?" She mocks, and Beca whacks her. "Hey, no distracting the driver!"

"It's not 'our special place,' it's just disgusting." She shakes her head, scoffing as she rolls her eyes. "I didn't even like her, then. Actually, I was pretty close to blowing my rape whistle, she was that close."

"Until she convinced you to sing with her, that is."

"Well, she got me at David Guetta." She shrugs, looking out the window.

"And that, sweet daughter of mine, is when I fell in love with your mother." Emily jokes, lowering her voice a little to mock Beca's, and the tiny singer can't help but laugh.

"Actually, I didn't know until junior year."

"Oh." Emily pulls into the parking lot, and together they make their way into the building. "Hey, when is the album dropping?"

"Oh. Umm…" Beca shrugs. "I actually have no clue. I'll talk to Theo later and find out, alright?"

"Perfect." She grins down at her, then looks up and gasps. "Uh, Beca?"

"What?" Her heart plummets at the younger woman's confused and slightly worried tone. "What happened?"

"I could easily be wrong, but I think I just saw Chicago walk into Chloe's room…"

"What the fuck?" She groans, picking up the pace in her walking, and Emily jogs to catch up with her.

"Beca, it might not have been him. I could've seen wrong."

"I know." She shrugs, trying to act like she's not jealous. "I just want to make sure." As they approach the door, they hear Chloe laugh. Emily goes to open the door, but Beca grabs her wrist. "I wanna hear first."

"You want to spy on her?" She whispers, raising an eyebrow, and Beca shakes her head defensively.

"Not on her, on him." She presses her ear against the door, tuning in on the conversation, and she instantly recognizes Chicago Walp's voice. She'd know that voice anywhere.

"Can we talk?"

"Sure." Beca hears Chloe respond, followed by some shuffling about. "What's up?"

"I know I said I'd give you time to think about… us… but I think this just proves that life is short." He clears his throat, and Beca lightly growls. She jumps when she feels Emily lay a hand on her shoulder, and she shoots her a glare. "Can we try again? Please? I can't-" pause, "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something ever happened to you. I want to be able to protect you, for the rest of your life."

"First of all," Chloe says softly, "I'm ok, my back is ok. I don't need someone to protect me, I can protect myself." Her voice stays calm, and Beca's heart stops as she approaches the second part. "Secondly, I can't."

"Why not?"

"I, uhh…" She trails off. "I can't tell you who, it's a long story, but I'm dating someone else." Oh thank God, Beca muses to herself as she lets out a huge sigh of relief.

"Who?"

"Me." She says, sauntering into the room and pressing a small kiss to Chloe's forehead somewhat possessively.

"Were you listening to our conversation?" The redhead accuses with a slightly annoyed look on her face, instantly making Beca feel bad.

"Yes." She admits, looking down and dropping her facade. "I'm sorry." She looks up at Chicago. "And I'm sorry to you, too. I just-"

"Got jealous." He finishes for her with a slight smile. "I get that." After a slight pause, he adds, "And I think you should probably know that I'm still in love with your girlfriend. You deserve to know that much. But, I respect her wishes."

"Thanks, Walp." She says, slightly surprised, and she sees Chloe smile in her peripheral vision. "That… I really appreciate it."

"Can I be honest?" He turns to look at Chloe, who curiously nods. "I always knew."

"Knew what?"

"That you're in love with her." He gestures to Beca with a tilt of his head. "I could tell by the way you looked at her, and I knew you had never looked at me like that. I was just the idiot who thought you could love me half as much as you love her."

"Aww, Chicago." She whines and slowly stands up, then wraps her arms around him in a hug. He hesitates and looks at Beca for confirmation, and she relents with a small nod, so he hugs her back softly. "I did love you, I really did." She pulls away with a soft, sad smile. "I'm just so sorry it wasn't the way you wanted me to. I didn't even really know how much I loved Beca back then." Beca glances over and catches Emily's eye, who walks over to stand next to her with a giant grin.

"See, told you it would be ok." She whispers, and Beca playfully scoffs.

"No you didn't. You said it might not have been Chicago, not that it would be fine." She counters, and Emily lightly laughs.

"True."

"What are you two whispering about over there?" Chloe asks, looking at them with a raised eyebrow and her hands on her hips.

"Nothing important." Beca responds, her smile only growing at Chloe's skeptical look. "Seriously, it's nothing, I promise."

"She was concerned about Chicago coming." Emily rats her out, and Beca gasps.

"Hey!"

"You weren't going to tell her." She shrugs.

"I was too! I was just dragging it out."

"No one likes to be kept waiting, Becs." Chloe says with a wink, and her, Emily, and even Chicago laugh when Beca blushes at the obvious innuendo.

"I hate you." She grumbles, suddenly relieved when Stacie walks in. "Stacie! Oh my gosh I missed you so much!"

Stacie gives her a concerned look before turning to Emily and asking, "What is she on?" Emily simply shrugs in response, and Beca elbows her in the rib.

"What?" She hisses into her ear when Stacie turns and starts asking Chloe questions, and Beca eyes her meaningfully.

"Talk to Stacie."

"What are you talking about?" She feigns confusion, and Beca sees right through it.

"Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about." Emily just furrows her eyebrows even more, and she sighs. "Tell her how you feel about her, dude."

"What?" She squeals, and the other three people in the room all turn to stare at her. "I can't do that." She lowers her voice, glaring at Beca, who shrugs.

"You know, I thought the same thing." Chloe suddenly walks up and wraps her arms around Beca's shoulders.

"We'll talk about this later." Emily huffs, and Beca nods.

"What's going on?" Chloe asks innocently when Emily strikes up a conversation with Chicago, and Beca turns to kiss her lightly on the lips.

"I…" She sighs. "I don't know if I can tell you. It's Em's secret, not mine." Chloe's bottom lip juts out in a pout, and Beca shrugs apologetically. "Sorry. I would if I knew I could, promise."

"Ok." She relents, pulling her tighter against her. "I can't wait for you to take me home."

"Yeah, and you're on strict bed rest, lady." She scolds, and Chloe pouts again.

"Not fair! I want to be able to make out with you whenever and wherever I want!"

"Don't worry, you will." Beca reassures her. "Just, not until after your back is completely healed. After that, you can kiss me to your heart's content."

"And I plan on doing just that." Chloe vows, and Beca's heart skips a beat.

"Alright, Chloe." Stacie pulls them out of their moment, and Chloe pulls away from Beca far enough to look at the doctor. "You're all set, I just need Beca to sign this for me." Beca walks over and grabs the clipboard, quickly signing the spot pointed out by Stacie. "Awesome. You two love birds can go home now." Stacie grins at them, and Beca rolls her eyes.

"Whatever, nerd." Stacie laughs and gives everyone except Chicago a quick hug, but she does shake the soldier's hand.

"Alright, let's go home." Beca says to Chloe, her voice filled with love, and Chloe nods while sporting one of her megawatt smiles.

"Let's go home."

"Alright, Beale, let's get you comfortable." Beca helps the ginger into the house once Emily drops them off, the younger woman promising to stop by either tonight or tomorrow before she had driven away. "Question: couch or bed?"

"Couch."

"Alright." She helps her onto the couch, grabbing a soft pillow and putting it behind her back to support her. "Are you comfortable?"

"Yeah." She smiles sweetly at her. "Hey, Becs?"

"What's up?"

In a soft voice, she says, "I love you."

Beca sits down on the couch next to her, taking her hand in hers and rubbing her thumb over the redhead's knuckles gingerly. "I love you too." She laughs, looking up into her bright blue eyes. "I love you so fucking much, and you have no idea how amazing it feels to finally be able to say it."

"Actually, I think I do." She counters with a laugh.

Suddenly sitting up, Beca says, "I have an idea."

"Yeah?" Chloe responds, frowning a little when Beca pulls out her phone. "What are you doing?"

"Read this." She hands the ginger her phone, the article from this morning already pulled up. Chloe takes the phone and begins to read it, her smile widening with each passing millisecond.

Handing Beca the phone back, she says, "Aww, that's so sweet! I can't believe people ship us!" Suddenly, Beca bursts out laughing, and Chloe gives her a confused look. "What? What's so funny about that?"

"No, it's not that." She breathes, looking at Chloe again with a wide grin of her own. "Emily practically guessed you would say that this morning."

"You and Emily seem to have grown close over these past few days." Chloe points out, and Beca nods.

"We have, actually. She was there for me that day when I… well, you know." She grimaces, and Chloe nods. "She helped me through it, and she was actually the one that made me realize I was being an idiot by ignoring you." With a small sigh, and a much more serious expression, she adds, "Listen, about that day-"

"Beca, I already told you it's ok."

She shakes her head. "No, I know that, but I need to get this out, ok?" When Chloe simply nods, she continues. "The reason why I kicked you out wasn't because you brought up Jesse." Her voice breaks a little, but she powers through it. "It was because I knew you were right. I knew it, and it scared the shit out of me, so I did exactly what you told me what I would do, because it seemed easier at the moment. I know you already know this, but I've gotten pretty good at shutting people out over the years." She gives Chloe a small smile as she takes a pause to breathe. "I always told myself I would never do anything to hurt you, but I did anyway, and for that, I'm really sorry. I just…" Another sigh. "When someone gets close to me, I get scared that they're going to realize they don't like me as much as they thought they would, and then they would leave me." Almost as if it's an afterthought, she adds, "That's what I thought my dad did. I thought he left because of me."

"Oh, Becs." Chloe lays a hand on Beca's arm, giving her the softest smile the brunette has ever seen. "Why haven't you ever told me any of this?"

"Because, while I knew that, deep down, you wouldn't judge me for it, I was always still scared. I always had that thought of what if running through my head. Always telling me that I should just not say anything, and let you- and everyone else- think that I preferred it that way. That I liked being alone."

"I never thought you liked being alone." Chloe whispers, and Beca looks at her in shock. "I could tell by the way you acted around certain people. Like, do you remember the day we went to that camp our senior year? The one Aubrey used to run?"

Beca chuckles. "Yeah, I remember. Why?"

"I don't know if you remember this, but you were the first person to give Bree a hug that day." Beca's jaw drops in astonishment. "Whenever Fat Amy said something stupid, you pretended to be annoyed, but I could always see the hint of a smirk on your face. I don't know if anyone else ever noticed, but I did." She laughs softly. "You put up a good front, Beca Mitchell, that's for damn sure. It took me three years to figure you out, but I'm so glad I did."

At this point, Beca's so shocked she can't even formulate a good response other than, "Wow."

Chloe laughs at her expression, then turns serious again. "Hey, you know there's therapy for that, right?"

Beca's eyebrows furrow; she's never really trusted the idea of talking to a total stranger and "fixing her problems," but if Chloe wants her to try it, she just might. "What, about the pushing people away thing?"

Chloe nods. "When I was a junior in college, I met a guy named Damien. We actually had a little fling, but we decided we were better as friends. Anyway, he's a therapist now. I could get you an appointment if you'd like."

"You'd do that for me?"

With a small smile, she says, "Of course. I think this could really help you, Beca. At least give it a chance?"

Beca nods, already knowing she will, just because Chloe asked her to. "Sure, I'll give it a shot, see how it goes. Go ahead, contact this Damien guy, see if he has any spots available for January."

"Why January?" She asks, but pulls out her phone.

"Because I want to wait until I don't have to take care of you anymore." Beca replies, and Chloe rolls her eyes playfully at her.

"You're always going to have to take care of me, babe." She winks, and Beca's heart skips a beat at both the term of endearment and the joke.

"You're going to be the death of me, I swear." She stands up, making her way to the kitchen to grab a Pop-Tart. "Are you hungry?" She calls out to Chloe.

"No, but thanks!" She grabs a s'mores flavored Pop-Tart, then resumes sitting on the couch, tearing the wrapper apart and throwing it on the coffee table.

"Hey Chloe?" She suddenly remembers what she had been trying to ask the ginger earlier, before the conversation suddenly shifted to her problem of shutting people out.

"Yeah?" She looks over at her, and Beca smiles.

"So…" She picks at her nails, suddenly feeling very nervous about the whole situation. "I was thinking… maybe we could tell the world that we're dating?" Chloe stares at her in shock, and she quickly backtracks. "I mean, if you don't want to, that's totally fine-" The redhead cuts her off by smashing their lips together, a small whine of desire escaping her throat when their teeth collide. Beca reacts instantly, gripping the back of Chloe's neck with one hand and allowing her other hand to slowly travel down her side, starting at her jaw and landing on her hip. She swipes her tongue along Chloe's bottom lip, who allows her entrance, and their tongues immediately meet, fighting for dominance in a tight, sexy, but beautiful dance that both women know no one else would understand.

As sexually frustrated as Beca's been these past couple of days, she knows that this kiss isn't about just sex at all. This kiss is all about discovering each other, and being together. She thinks back to a movie Chloe once made her watch, a specific line floating through her head. "It's about two people coming together." She doesn't know why this certain part of the movie stuck with her, but it resonates deep within her at the moment. She just wishes Chloe hadn't just had her surgery, or else she'd be showing her just how much she loves her right now.

Almost as if Chloe can read Beca's mind, the ginger pulls away, resting their foreheads together. Her bright blue eyes bore lovingly into Beca's stormy blue ones as she says, "God, I'm so in love with you."

"And I'm so madly in love with you too." Beca smiles at her, and she slowly adjusts to rest her head in Beca's chest. Grinning from ear to ear, the singer leans back into the couch, readjusts Chloe's pillow, and grabs the remote as she rubs light circles into the redhead's bicep with her pointer finger. She looks back down at the redhead, realizing she never got an answer, just to realize she's asleep.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Beca scrambles to answer her phone when Emily calls, not wanting to wake Chloe up, who's been asleep on her chest for about two hours now. "Hey." She whispers as she answers.

"Is Chloe asleep?"

"Yeah, and on my chest, at that. What's up?"

"I, uh, talked to Stacie today."

"Really?" She says, slightly surprised.

"Yeah."

"And?"

"Oh yeah. She said that, while she did have feelings for me in college, she grew out of them when she started dating Aubrey. But, she said she's happy I told her, and it's not weird. We actually got lunch together today."

"Wow, Em, that's amazing!" Beca exclaims, wincing when Chloe shifts in her sleep. Lowering her voice, she says, "Do you know if she's going to tell Aubrey?"

"I don't know." She admits, and Beca can imagine the way she's biting her lower lip right now. "I really don't know. I'm just happy we're ok."

"That's really good." A smile spreads across her face at how clearly happy the young, talented musician that she's grown so close to these past couple days is. "I'm really happy for you."

"Thanks. Look, I have to go, but I just wanted to tell you that."

"Alright. Let me know what happens with you and Benji, alright?"

"Of course. Bye, Becs."

"Bye Em." She hangs up and sets her phone down, then jumps a little when she sees Chloe staring at her. "Holy shit, I thought you were asleep. Did I wake you up?"

"No, you're fine." She shakes her head. "Was that Legacy?"

"Yeah." She sighs. "She's going through some stuff right now."

"Oh. Is she ok?"

"Yeah, no, she's fine. It's just…" Another sigh. "I really don't think I can tell you. Ugh." She groans, and Chloe chuckles.

"It's fine, I get it. It's not your secret to share."

"Exactly." She presses a light kiss to Chloe's forehead, watching the way the ginger's eyes flutter closed at the contact. "Thanks for understanding."

"Anytime, babe." Beca settles back into the couch, with Chloe slowly getting comfortable again, and she cant' wipe the grin off her face as she thinks about how this is the happiest she's ever been in her entire life.
