Darkhuntressxir- thank you for reading and leaving feedback I'm not going to lie to you I kinda had most of this chapter wrote before you commented saying you wanted Naruto to have all three. But just thinking about it I think I'll probably stick with just the two just for the sake of not making him too crazy. I hope you like the interactions with Ayame in this chapter. We pick back up with the crew 9 years later, Kakashi and Ayame had a beautiful wedding five years ago although Gai is still a little upset Kakashi chose Tenzo as his best man. Kakashi gave Tenzo the mantle of ANBU captain to Tenzo about a year ago. He wanted more time at home with his wife, and to train Naruto which also meant Sasuke. He was very amused the raven haired boy refused to be left behind by his best friend. Kakashi was glad that Naruto had plenty of friends he hung out with Sasuke daily and would also hang out with the Ino-Shika-Cho trio once or twice a week.
Itachi in the words of Jiraiya was cut out for the spy gig he handled a lot of it now, Jiraiya really only tagged along on more S-rank gigs. Jiraiya got to focus most of his time on his old pale skinned teammate. Which unfortunately wasn't going all that great. Itachi still managed to come back at least once every couple of months and hasn't missed Sasuke or Naruto's birthday once. He could never forgive him self if he missed one of his little brothers birthdays. He also roped Shisui in to helping him out they were quite the fearsome duo, both earning S-rank status in the newest bingo book. Giving Konoha a total of 5 S-rank ninja in the book. (Hiruzen, Jiraiya, Kakashi, Shisui, and Itachi.)
In fact it was thanks to Itachi, Shisui, and Jiraiya that the rebellion was able to win the war in Kiri, thus making Kiri and Konoha allies. Hiruzen was very thankful for this he was glad that Konoha's future was burning brightly. Hell even Asuma was opening up a bit more he was truly a happy man now he just needs Kakashi to take the mantle but he knows that it will be soon enough.
Hatake residence back yard
"Alright boys bring it in I want to see something." Kakashi ordered. "What's up dad?" Naruto asked before taking a drink of water and handing it to Sasuke. "Do either of you know what this is?" Kakashi asked holding out a piece of paper. "It looks like paper to me." Sasuke said confused. "You are half right this is chakra paper. If you channel chakra to it you will figure out what nature affinity you have. If the paper crinkles its lightning, becomes damp it's water, burns it means fire, crumbles is earth, and finally if it splits thats wind. I want you both to take these and channel chakra to them." Kakashi explained to the eager duo.
"Interesting it looks like you have both fire and lightning. Fire will be easy enough to learn considering it's your clans primary nature, lightning though is bit more tricky it's not very common here in Konoha. Lucky for you it's my primary nature." Kakashi said with a smile. "Is it rare to get two affinities?" Sasuke asked. "It is pretty rare but not unheard of." Kakashi explained getting a nod. "What did you get Naruto?" Sasuke asked receiving a huge shit eating grin. "Looks like I'm just destined to beat you. I got wind and water." Naruto said. "Hmm that definitely gives you the upper hand on Sasuke but you might find beating him more difficult once he awakens his Sharingan and can see what you are going to throw at him." Kakashi explained making Sasuke smirk and Naruto scoff.
"Naruto I'm going to have you train with wind first and Sasuke you will master your fire affinity first." Kakashi said getting the two boys attention from the current bickering. "Come in and get lunch boys." Ayame yelled from the back deck. "Well looks like this will have to wait for tomorrow, go on ahead and wash up boys I'll be right behind you." Kakashi told them as they were already half way to the house. The only thing they like more than training is eating guess I can't blame them Ayame is a great cook. Kakashi thought before heading inside himself.
"How is training going boys?" Ayame asked as she sat down next to Kakashi at the table. "They learned there affinities today after some light sparring tomorrow is when things get interesting." Kakashi said for both boys as they just continued to stuff there face. "Hey dad which affinity do you think the best is?" Naruto asked after inhaling his food. "There isn't really a correct answer to that, each affinity has there ups and downs. Your two affinities complete each other well for a well balanced combination. While Sasuke's makes him an incredible offensive threat." Kakashi said evenly but nonetheless getting a grin from Naruto and a smirk from Sasuke.
"Do you think we will get to be on the same genin team?" Sasuke asked curiously. "This might be tough to here but it's highly unlikely you two are the best in your class we try to set teams up to be even. And before you ask Naruto no I won't be allowed to be your sensei they do not let family on the same genin team." Kakashi said getting back two frowns. "Hopefully I'll get Uncle Asuma then he has a wind affinity as well right dad?" Naruto asked. "He does while I planned on showing you the basics I wanted Asuma to show you the more complex parts of the nature." Kakashi explained.
"I'm not to worried I know I'll get Kakshi as my sensei." Sasuke said evenly getting Naruto and Kakashi to raise an eyebrow at this. "How do you figure?" Naruto asked having no clue what his friend was saying. "Well since Itachi and Shisui aren't home a lot they will want someone proficient with the Sharingan to train me it's just the most logical thing to do." Sasuke said as if it were obvious. "Very observant, you are most likely correct. But don't think I will go easy on you just because you are like my nephew."Kakashi said receiving a gulp from Sasuke. "Alright boys clean this up for me. Kakashi and I have to go over to Asuma and Kurenai's for game night." Ayame said before her and Kakashi took off.
"Hey Sasuke who do you want to be on your team when we graduate?" Naruto asked the raven haired clad. "Well considering we won't be put on the same squad and we have to have a girl with us, I want Shino and Hinata." Sasuke said after thinking the question over for a bit. "I figured you'd want the two quietest in the group." Naruto said laughing. "What about you Naruto? I mean Ino is obvious because of the huge crush you have on her but who else." Sasuke asked with a smirk as Naruto's cheek turned bright red. "DO NOT! Ino-Chan is just nice is all. But I guess I don't really mind who else I get to be honest I knew we wouldn't be put on the same team so I guess it doesn't really matter at this point." Naruto responded.
Asuma and Kurenai's house
"How's it going Asuma?" Kakashi asked before handing the man a couple cases of drinks. "Not to bad played with my brat of nephew today. How about you?" Asuma responded. "Been good the boys figured out there affinities today." Kakashi said getting Asuma to raise an eyebrow. "Did you intentionally make that plural?" Asuma asked. "Yup Naruto has wind and water, and Sasuke has fire and lightning." Kakashi said with a smirk. "What the hell do they put in the water these days." Asuma said in amazement.
"I have a favor to ask you Asuma, would you take Naruto as one of your three genin when the time comes while I have a decent understanding of wind I'd like you to be able to show him how to use it." Kakashi said. "I planned on requesting for him don't worry about it." Asuma said putting a hand on the mans shoulder. "So when is the rest of the crew suppose to come by?" Kakashi asked. "Any time now Gai will be devastated knowing you beat him here." Asuma said as they both shivered at the statement.
"What exactly have you taught the boy so far?" Asuma asked. "He knows the Hatake taijutsu along with the academy's. He is pretty good with a Tanto and knows the basic academy jutsu but instead of the clone jutsu I had to teach him the shadow clone jutsu because of his tenant." Kakashi explained. "He has so much chakra he can't do a basic clone?" Asuma asked in amazement. "Yeah I figured at first his control was so bad he couldn't do it, but once he got down tree walking and still couldn't preform it I just showed him shadow clones." Kakashi replied.
"I assume Sasuke know just as much?" Asuma said more so then asked. "More or less he uses his clans taijutsu style. And trains with a katana instead of a tanto but they are pretty equal." Kakashi replied. "Damn it's a shame we can't pair them together to make one hell of a assault squad. I guess the old man knows what he is doing though." Asuma said before taking a drag. "Yeah they are both pretty bummed they can't be on the same team, but I'm sure they will find someway to uphold there rivalry." Kakashi said with a smile.
"What does the kid want to do once he becomes chunin?" Asuma asked intrigued. "I'm not sure to be honest I know Jiraiya mentioned taking him on a training trip for a while when he hits chunin and if I had to guess he will most likely be jonin level when he gets back he might go into ANBU but I don't see him having the heart for it." Kakashi mused. "Yeah I can't really picture him in ANBU either. I could probably get him a spot in the guarding 12 if he were interested." Asuma stated. "That could be good i would bet he would jump at the offer." Kakashi replied.
"MY RIVAL! How un youthful of me to be so tardy!" Gai said as he entered the house. "How's it going Gai, is your little genin doing alright?" Kakashi asked. "They are most youthful I would even say they are the best genin team in the village." Gai said proudly. "That is of course till Naruto becomes a genin." Kakashi said knowing how much it would annoy Gai. "While I do have a soft spot for little Naruto I think Lee has him beat out in youth!" Gai declared. "Huh did you say something Gai?" Kakashi asked making Gai faint.
Sasuke's house
"Hey aunt Mikoto how's it going?" Naruto greeted the woman as him and Sasuke entered the raven haired boys home. "I'm good Naruto-kun how are you two?" Mikoto asked while putting on dinner. "We're ok Kakashi showed us our nature affinities today." Sasuke said casually. "Oh nice I assume you got fire?" Mikoto asked. "Partially correct fire and lightning to be more exact. Naruto got water and wind." Sasuke replied to his mother. "Wow that's impressive boys make sure to continue to listen to Kakashi-San and I'm sure you will be fine Ninja." Mikoto said with a smile. "Hey auntie when is Itachi gonna come back?" Naruto asked. "I'm not sure honey you know he is pretty busy these days but the work he does is very important." Mikoto said with a soft smile.
"Thanks for dinner mother. Naruto and I are going to hang out a bit before bed." Sasuke said before giving his mother a hug and leaving. "Be good boys!" Mikoto said as they were running off. "So where to?" Sasuke asked following Naruto. "I want to tell Jiji about our training today." Naruto said getting a nod from Sasuke. "I bet he could show us some pretty cool jutsu if we can convince him too." Sasuke replied. "Ok follow my lead when we get there." Naruto said.
Hokage office
"Come in." The Hokage called as he stuffed some more tobacco in his pipe. "Hey Jiji how's it going?" Naruto asked. "I'm well boys what can I do for two of Konoha's up and comers." Hiruzen asked. "Well dad tested us for our nature affinities today and we were hoping you might lend us a scroll for each one we have." Naruto replied honestly. "You have more than one?" Hiruzen asked curiously. "We both do, I have lighting and fire and Naruto has water and wind." Sasuke said entering the conversation. "That's impressive boys, but why do you think I'd be so quick to help you two out. I have to be fair and not play favorites that wouldn't be very Hokage like." Hiruzen responded.
"I figured you'd say that Jiji I have a proposal. Pervy sage said he was going to give me the first copy of his new book on my birthday, if you give us one A-rank jutsu for each of our affinities I'll let you read it before dad." Naruto said with a smirk. "You drive a hard bargain Naruto-kun one C-rank each and we have a deal." Hiruzen said showing his prowess of being a long time Hokage. "I think B-rank would please everyone hear." Sasuke countered. "Fine I'll agree on one condition you guys play ninja with kono-kun next weekend." Hiruzen said receiving a couple of nods for confirmation. "We will pick the scrolls up next weekend then. Thanks Jiji we gotta go." Naruto said before they took off.
"Well that went surprisingly well." Sasuke said as they walked through the village. "No faith in your best friend I'm hurt." Naruto said clutching his heart. "Whatever you were lucky you had me there I bet you would have taken the C-rank deal." Sasuke said with a smirk. "Hey C-ranks aren't so bad. Anyways you staying over tonight or heading home?" Naruto asked. "I need to go home mom has been bugging me about never being around. Just make sure you show up on time I don't want to listen to Iruka loose his mind because you are late again." Sasuke said before taking off.
Hatake residence 8:00pm
"Mom Dad I'm home." Naruto announced entering his home. "Where ya been pup?" Kakashi asked turning the page of his book. "Sasuke and I went to his house for dinner and then we went and saw Jiji for a little deal." Naruto said with a grin. "And what might that deal be?" Kakashi asked intrigued. "You are not going to like this very much. He agreed to let me and Sasuke have one B-rank jutsu for each of our nature for first dibs on the new icha." Naruto said scared of how his father would react. "Kami where did I go wrong raising this brat? How could you betray me like this?" Kakashi asked while anime crying.
"Did you and Sasuke stay out of trouble?" Ayame asked with a glare. "Yes Ma'am" Naruto gulped before replying. "Good, Aunt Anko said hey brat." Ayame said teasing. "She must be really busy she hasn't come to torture me in at least two weeks." Naruto said thinking. "She was on a mission pretty far away she just got back yesterday." Kakashi informed the blonde young man." "Do you have a mission tomorrow?" Naruto asked. "I'm not sure really why what's up?" Kakashi asked figuring the blonde would want help with his affinity. "If you are free do you think you could help me out after class?" Naruto asked with his best puppy dog eyes.
Next morning
"Hey pup wake up if your late again mom said she would burn our book collection." Kakashi said knowing the boy liked books as much as he did. "She wouldn't." Naruto said trying to rub the sleep out of his eyes. "I wouldn't test it, I have a mission today pup probably be gone for at least two days. But I asked someone to come over after you get out of the academy so bring Sasuke with you ok." Kakashi said before Naruto gave him a big hug, something that was becoming more and more rare. "Thanks dad be safe and kick some ass for me!" Naruto said before hopping in the shower.
Academy 8:00am
"Alright let's take roll." The pineapple haired man called out. "I'm here on time today Iruka-sensei there's no need." Naruto replied. "I'm glad to see you showed up on time for once Naruto, but roll is mandatory." Iruka countered and the two went back and fourth for close to half an hour which resulted in the man not calling roll. "Hey Ino-Chan you got any candy?" Naruto whispered to his fellow blonde. "Maybe but what do I get back?" Ino asked trying to get the better of Naruto. "Idk what do you want Ino-Chan?" Naruto replied. "Hmm that's a good question tell ya what I'll give you this piece of candy and you will just owe me one in the future." Ino said gaining a happy nod from Naruto.
Lunchtime
"Alright you guys are dismissed for an hour come back to the classroom after lunch." Iruka said to the class and watched them leave. "Hey Sasuke dad said to come over after school he has someone that's going to show us some stuff." Naruto said walking up to his friends. "You know who?" Sasuke asked taking his lunch out. "Not really, he didn't say much before his mission." Naruto said taking a bite out of his sandwich. "Naruto-kun don't talk with your mouth full." Ino lectured. "What type of training are you guys going to be doing?" Choji asked before eating a few chips. "We're going to train with our nature affinities." Sasuke said. "Sounds troublesome." Shikamaru added while watching the clouds.
Academy 3:00pm
"And that's it for today, I'll see everyone tomorrow class dismissed." Iruka said to the group of children. "Thank Kami I couldn't handle another lecture on the importance of history I think it would have been the end of me." Naruto called out making most of his friends laugh. "Can I tag along daddy is at work and mom will make me work in the shop all day if I go home." Ino asked "Sure I owe you one anyways." Naruto replied. "Oh no this definitely isn't us being even not by a long shot Goldie locks." Ino said getting a scowl from Naruto and a snort from Sasuke he was still upset he didn't come up with that one.
"Mom I'm home I've got Sasuke and Ino-Chan with me." Naruto announced entering his home. "I've got some sandwiches made if you guys are hungry." Ayame said greeting the trio of preteens. "Thank you I would love one." Ino said being polite while the two boys just grabbed one each. "It's nice to see you haven't let Naruto-kun corrupt you." Ayame said teasing the blonde boy. "I'm not that bad mom." Naruto said in his defense. "I've got to go help dad out with the shop today so you two behave and don't get Ino-Chan in trouble. "Hai." Sasuke replied before Naruto could say something he would regret.
"Your mom makes the best food!" Ino said finishing her sandwich. "Yeah she is the best, so Ino who do you want on your team?" Naruto asked. "I don't really mind just not dog breath. Daddy said they usually put Ino-shika-cho together so I'm just kinda expecting that to happen." Ino replied as she went to grab a drink. Knock knock "I'm coming" Naruto called before going to the door. "What's up kid." Asuma said as he walked in. "I should have know dad would get you it was so obvious." Naruto said before offering Asuma a sandwich.
"Damn your mom even makes sandwiches better than me." Asuma said after finishing it. "Yeah I get that a lot. So what are you going to show us?" Naruto asked getting straight to the point. "Sasuke's training will be a little simpler if I'm going to be honest with you. Say kid you know any fire jutsu already?" Asuma asked the raven haired kid. "I know the fireball jutsu." Sasuke replied. "Perfect you are going to do it as much as you can for the next two hours or you run out of chakra whichever happens first." Asuma ordered getting a nod. "Alright Naruto yours is a little harder or at least it was for me. Watch this." Asuma said putting a leaf in his hand and splitting it in half. "So I just have to use my chakra to split a leaf?" Naruto asked thinking it would be an easy task. "If it's so easy go ahead and give it a shot there prodigy." Asuma said with a grin knowing Naruto hated being called a prodigy.
"Why the hell is this so hard?" Naruto screamed earning a laugh from Ino and Asuma. "Alright brat I think I've seen you struggle enough for my satisfaction make 3 shadow clones and have them do it as well and dispel them in an hour." Asuma said gaining a nod from the blonde. "Oh crap I can't believe I've forgot about my clones guess i get excited sometimes ya know." Naruto said rubbing the back of his head. "Hey Asuma-San do you think you could show me something?" Ino asked the man. "Sorry I didn't catch your name." Asuma replied. "I'm Ino Yamanaka I'm in the same class with these two." Ino said pointing to the boys.
"Alright I'll have you do tree walking." Asuma said. "I know how to do that already." Ino responded. "That's fine it servers another purpose. If you do it for long periods of time it will up your chakra reserves." Asuma explained getting a nod in return. "How's it going kid?" Asuma asked walking up to Sasuke. "It's going ok I guess but I don't really understand why I am just doing this over and over again." Sasuke said. "Fire is kind of simple compared to other affinities. The more you use it the better you are plus what you are doing will help your reserves a lot." Asuma said casually.
"Ok kid how far have you gotten with the leaf?" Asuma asked an obviously pissed off naruto. "I can maybe split a fifth of the leaf." Naruto replied angrily. "Alright dispel your clones." Asuma ordered. To which Naruto did before having a sudden headache. "Damn maybe I should have done one less clone." Naruto said making Asuma chuckle. "Ok give it a shot." Asuma said. Seeing Naruto improve to a little more than a fourth of the leaf splitting. "Dammit I figured it would have been more." Naruto said. "That's pretty damn good for one day kid it took me months to split the damn thing if I was a betting man I'd say you could do it in two weeks." Asuma replied getting a smirk from Naruto. "Want to make a wager?" Naruto said grinning. "I'm listening." Asuma said pulling out a cigarette and lighting it. "If I get it in one week you ask for me and Ino-chan to be on your genin team I don't care who the third is. If I can't get it in one week I'll tell Kurenai I lied about you still smoking." Naruto said with a sly grin. "Deal" Asuma said without hesitation he already planned on asking for Naruto what's one more blonde he thought.
A few hours later Hokage office
"Hey dad got a second?" Asuma asked his father as he walked in the room. "Yeah what can I do for you today?" Hiruzen asked in return. "It's about genin teams I'd like to make a request." Asuma said getting a grin from his father. "Naruto-kun I suppose?" Hiruzen asked already knowing. "That easy to read huh? Well I want the other blonde as well. I made a bet with the kid if he could master the leaf splitting exercise in one week I'd request the both of them on my team and he seemed pretty confident so I figured I'd go ahead and ask." Asuma replied honestly. "I suppose that could be arranged but I choose the last one. Make sure to be free next month, they have there exams then." Hiruzen said as Asuma was leaving.
Saturday evening
"Konohamaru we have to get going it getting late." Naruto said to his little brother if you were to ask anyone who knew the two. "But I want to hang out with you two." The brown haired boy said with a frown. "You know your parents don't want you out to late." Naruto said. "Ok but I don't have to like it." Konohamaru replied.
Hokage office
"Hey Jiji we are here for our scrolls." Naruto said as he and Sasuke walked in the building. "A deal is a deal my boys here you are. I think you both could go ahead try the scrolls of your respective elements that you have began training with. But I have to ask you wait for Kakashi to return to try the others." Hiruzen said while handing them a couple scrolls. "No problem thanks Jiji we will learn these in no time." Naruto said with a huge grin. "I have no doubt. Sasuke it seems you will have some company next month." Hiruzen said getting a smile from the raven haired boy.
"How long has it been since Itachi has came back?" Naruto asked Sasuke as they walked through the village. "Your birthday. I guess he's coming to see us graduate." Sasuke said stoically. "Well at least you will have some cool jutsu to show him what did you get in your scrolls?" Naruto asked. "I got dragon flame bomb, and false darkness what about you?" Sasuke asked rolling both scrolls back up. "Damn that sounds cool. I got vacuum wave, and water wall. Who would have thought a simple water wall would be B-rank?" Naruto asked a little bummed out. "I wouldn't be so upset I bet Kakashi has used that in battle before probably saved him a few times as well." Sasuke said getting a grin from Naruto. "You want to practice these jutsu?" Naruto asked with a grin. "Thought you would never ask." Sasuke replied with a smirk.
Three days later Hatake residence
"Nice to see you guys haven't been slacking off while I was gone." Kakashi said greeting the two pre teens. "Oh you might be surprised, care for a little 2v1 spar?" Naruto asked with a grin. "I don't see why not start when you are ready." Kakashi said and with that Naruto made a dozen shadow clones to rush towards Kakashi. Nothing unusual so far Kakashi mused as he was making the clones disperse. "Fire Release: Dragon Flame Bomb" "Wind Release: Vacuum Wave" Sasuke and Naruto said combining there respective jutsu together and towards Kakashi. Oh shit that could kill me "Mud Wall" Kakashi said pumping a good amount of chakra in said wall to make sure it stuck.
"Ok new rule we need to set ground rules before spars. You brats could have killed me with that." Kakashi said half annoyed half impressed. "Yeah I suppose we should have warned you but that was our best shot at landing an actual blow against you." Naruto replied rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. "How did you guys learn B-rank Jutsu without me anyways?" Kakashi asked. "We kinda just practiced the scrolls instructions wasn't to hard to figure out." Sasuke answered honestly. "I see what about the other one weren't you guys supposed to get two scrolls each?" Kakashi asked. "Yeah I can do the water wall kinda but I'm pretty sure I'm not doing it correctly. Sasuke seems to be having trouble with his other one as well." Naruto said. "That doesn't surprise me it's tough to learn a jutsu when you don't really have any training with the affinity. If you can come back tomorrow I'll help you out with it Sasuke, while I'm helping Naruto with his." Kakashi replied getting a nod from the raven haired boy.
"Come in and eat guys." Ayame yelled from the back porch. "So I suppose that you guys have a decent handle on your first affinities?" Kakashi asked as the group made there way to the house. "It wasn't to bad for me, but Naruto took a bit." Sasuke said with a smirk. "Yeah yeah, Fire is just easier to use then wind. Beside I still won my bet with Asuma." Naruto countered sticking his tongue out at the dark haired boy. "What kind of bet?" Kakashi asked. "I told him if I mastered the leaf cutting exercise in a week that he had to ask for me and Ino-Chan on his genin team." Naruto said taking a seat at the table. "I see, that's pretty impressive pup. Did Asuma show you his trick with his trench knives?" Kakashi asked to which Naruto shook his head sideways to indicate that he didn't.
"Well since you already know you will be on my team is there anyone you want Sasuke?" Kakashi asked while getting something to drink. "I don't really mind just not Kiba please." Sasuke said getting a laugh from Naruto. "I'll keep that in mind. I have a feeling we will be a heavy assault squad so I would guess we will get the Hyuga heir I'm not to sure on the third though." Kakashi mused.
The rest of the night came and went the perfect evening in Kakashi's eyes being home and enjoying time with his family. He didn't think his life would ever be this nice since he lost his team but with the help of Naruto and Ayame he was sure wrong. The next couple of weeks flew by for a certain blonde haired boy. Kakashi a man of his word helped both of the boys get there second jutsu down. Naruto even found some time to go visit Ino something he was very fond of doing. And finally tomorrow would be the day he becomes a true ninja.
A/N- Hey everyone hope you enjoyed the chapter. I wanted to give Naruto and Sasuke a couple Jutsu to be able to lean on in there up and coming adventures. I plan on following Naruto and Sasuke teams but will probably have it shift to more Naruto centric very soon. But Kakashi is my favorite character so I definitely won't be forget about him.
