Class 1-A meets...
Chapter ten: Father knows best
The audience that had been summoned by the Realmcrafter Talespinner69 had just finished watching the latest episode of the realm that was currently playing on the big theater screen. They were watching as, once per episode, class 1-A met members of their classmates' various families. The last episode was a bit of a shock, especially since it made use of info that had very recently been made available to those of Tale's kind.
"I...I still can't believe it..." Nemuri said in a shell shocked tone, her voice somewhat subdued as she looked down at her lap.
"Just when I thought that villains couldn't sink any lower," Toshinori swore under his breath.
Turning to face the former Symbol of Peace, Dabi said, "You know, one could make the argument that heroes are often just as bad, if not worse, than the very villains that you are cursing with such disdain, All Might." Dabi turned back around to face forward.
"...But then again, given how the system that runs society is governed, it was only a matter of time before such a level of corruption took hold," Dabi went on, "With the civilian sheeple too blinded, too lulled into a false sense of security to do anything to object, with nothing short of total calamity caused by those that for the longest time have been put down in society by the very system that was supposed to be a safeguard for everyone being necessary to remove the blinders covering the eyes of all."
A lot of people turned to look at Dabi, surprised that he had said so much, had gone into such detail. "Have...have you been holding that one on for a while, Dabi?" Spinner asked, sounding rather concerned.
Jerking a thumb over his shoulder to point at Endeavor, Dabi said, "I have a number one reason to have every issue with how society is allowed to act as it has."
"If it makes you feel better," Stain began, "Endeavor is one of the heroes on my to-kill list. He's actually at the very top right now."
Dabi actually looked a bit touched at that. "...That does make me feel better, yeah."
"T...Toya..." Endeavor said, sounding rather hurt over how his own son hated him so much that he wanted him dead.
"Try killing him on your own time," Tale scolded lightly, "Now is not the time for that."
"Indeed," Kotaro said, "Because the next episode is ready to play."
Everyone turned to look at the big theater screen to watch what the next episode was going to be, eagerly looking forward to which 1-A student family member was going to be introduced next to Aizawa's class.
...
(Class 1-A meets Ganma Asui (Tsuyu Asui's dad)
"So we're meeting my dad now kero?" Tsuyu in the audience said in a mildly surprised tone.
Nodding along, Mina said, "I bet that Mr. Asui will be a good, cool man, given that he had a hand in raising that precious little bean that is Samidare."
"I still want Tsu-chan's little brother," Toga remarked.
"No," Tsuyu, Uraraka, Nejire, Ryukyu, Dabi, Spinner, Tale, Stain and Kotaro all said to Toga in unison.
Izuku, with a mild look of surprise on his face, said, "Wow, I think that's more than last time."
It was a well enough morning over at the Asui residence. Sitting at the dining table was Ganma, the patriarch of the Asui family. He and his wife Beru, along with their two youngest children Samidare and Satsuki, were eating breakfast. While eating, Ganma was reading from the morning newspaper.
"Hmm..." Ganma said in a contemplative tone, "...First those Nazi gorillas in the mountains, then those Overhaul and Shigaraki fellows, and now that terrible villain that was All Might's greatest nemesis." Looking up from his newspaper, Ganma said, "An awful lot of villains are getting straight up killed as of late, it seems."
"The episodes of this realm really are connected," Toshinori in the audience remarked.
"Now all that's left is to see how Asui's father plays a role here," Aizawa commented.
"So what do you have to do today?" Beru asked.
"My group from my company is working out some sort of deal with UA," Ganma explained, "And today we're heading over. It would have been sooner, but our liaison at UA helping to make sure everything is coordinated, that Nemuri woman, was one of the UA staff members hurt in that recent rampage caused by that giant villain. Some fellow named Hizashi took over things in Nemuri's place."
"So the group my dad belongs to in the company he works for is coming to UA," Tsuyu in the audience began, "But Nemuri-sensei being hurt in the rampage of that giant villain caused the meeting at UA to be delayed until Hizashi-sensei took things over."
Sighing in a resigned tone, Nemuri said, "I can probably see where this is going..."
"Oh, you'll be going to UA," Beru said.
With an amused smirk, Ganma added, "Yeah, and my group is going to be working with the homeroom class that Tsuyu is a part of."
"You're going to see big sis?" Samidare said, sounding a bit surprised.
"Aww, he's still adorable!" Mina in the audience gushed.
"I hope that Mr. Asui brings Samidare with him to UA," Hagakure commented.
Folding her arms over her chest, Tsuyu said, "Wow. I had no idea Samidare would have hit it off so well with so many of you."
Nodding once, Ganma said, "Yes young man, I'm going to be seeing your older sister. Oh, speaking of I ought to let her know I'm coming so I won't be too big a shock to her when I arrive." Ganma picked his phone up and proceeded to call his first born child. "...Hey Tsuyu, it's me," Ganma said, "Listen, did one of your teachers mention a group that would be meeting with you and your classmates today?"
Beru and the kids looked on as Ganma listened to Tsuyu on the other end. "...Ah, good," Ganma continued, "Well, just to let you know so it won't be too big a shock, the group is actually the group I belong to at the company I work at, so you'll be seeing me later today." After listening to Tsuyu's response, Ganma had a curious look on his face.
"...Oh, all the girls in your class are with you and you just put our call on speaker?" Ganma said in a curious tone, "Well why-" Ganma stopped short and held the phone away from his ear a bit when all the girls on the other end all started talking all at once. Beru wasn't able to make out what the girls were saying, though.
Suddenly, Tsuyu's voice could be faintly heard saying from Ganma's phone, "Sorry dad, but that all was Uraraka, Mina, Kyoka, Yaoyorozu and Hagakure all asking if you could bring Samidare with you. They really took a shine to him for some reason."
"Yes!" Hagakure in the audience cheered, raising her arms into the air.
Chuckling a bit, Ganma said into his phone, "Yeah, your mom briefed me on that pro hero meet and greet event at your school that Samidare went to because he wanted to see Ryukyu. Yeah, tell your friends that I'm sorry but Samidare has an appointment at the doctor's today since his asthma has been acting up a bit as of late."
"My little brother has asthma in this realm?!" Tsuyu in the audience exclaimed, looking very much freaked out. The other girls, as well as some of the other female audience members, all looked worried as well.
"...Well tell your friends that I said thanks for showing such concern for your little brother," Ganma replied after hearing what Tsuyu said on the other end, "And I'll be seeing you soon." Ganma then ended the call.
"Why is big sis and her friends more fond of Samidare than me?" Satsuki asked.
"I'm getting a dreading feeling that Tsuyu's little sis is going to end up being a complete and total brat," Mina in the audience said in a mildly bemused tone.
"Same here, yo," La Brava remarked.
Sighing, Tsuyu said, "I really hope that she'll behave herself when she shows up..."
"Sweetie, your older sister's friends haven't met you yet," Beru explained, "But they have met your older brother." Samidare nodded once in agreement to show he was following along with what his mother said.
Getting up from his seat, Ganma said, "Well I best get to work, since we're going to be heading on over to UA today for our project." Ganma kissed his wife goodbye before taking off for the day that laid ahead of him.
...
Later, Ganma and his group at work were all at UA, and they were meeting with Aizawa, as well as Hizashi and all of the class 1-A students.
"Oh, so we're introduced right off the bat this time," Kaminari in the audience said, "That's a new one, I'll grant you that."
"Don't family members met a few classmates first," Hizashi began, "Have a mini adventure, and then met the whole class while their relationship to one of the students in the class is made clear to everyone?"
Shrugging, Tale remarked, "Well maybe this show will be like the recently completed one where Aizawa expels one of his students at random once per realm, in the sense that while Mineta did die in some realms like he does in every realm with alternate versions of the 1-A and 1-B girls, Mineta didn't die in every realm where Aizawa expels someone."
"My guess is that this is the first episode of this realm that mixes up the formula," Kotaro said.
"So before we get started," a bald man in Ganma's group began, "I would like to know why that Nemuri woman had to hand her role over to that Hizashi fellow."
"Nemuri-sensei..." Yaoyorozu began in a troubled tone, "...Was among the nine UA staff members that made up the thirty or so pro heroes terribly injured in the recent rampage of that giant villain."
"I heard that Nemuri-sensei," Izuku went on in a similarly troubled tone, "As well as all other involved UA staff members aside from the librarian who is expected to make a full recovery, isn't looking too good."
"The last that Hizashi and I heard," Aizawa remarked, trying to be as business like as possible as if he were trying to avoid getting too upset, "There's a sixty percent chance that Nemuri isn't going to make it."
"That...that isn't good at all," Yaoyorozu in the audience remarked, tears pooling up in the corners of her eyes.
"No! I wanna stick around in this realm!" Nemuri cried, "I want to cuddle with Tsuyu's adorable little brother at least!"
"You too, sensei?!" Tsuyu remarked in a surprised tone, shocked that it wasn't just the girls in the hero course that grew fond of Samidare.
Sighing in a troubled tone, Hizashi remarked, "Yeah, it would suck big time if Nemuri died. I mean, she's in the hole to me by two-hundred and fifty-thousand yen. If she kicks it, then I'm not going to be seeing that money ever again."
Turning to look at Hizashi, Aizawa said with a look of mild disbelief, "Hizashi, there's a good chance we could lose a co-worker and long-time friend, and your main concern about her potentially dying is how she won't pay off a debt that she owes you?"
"Two-hundred!" Hizashi exclaimed for emphasis, "And fifty! Thousand fucking yen, Sho! If I owed you that much and I was going to croak before I paid you off, you'd bet your bottom yen you'd be pissed at me! Seriously, I will fucking-"
"Let's change the subject here," Ganma said somewhat hastily, "Now, what is it that you men want my group to do?"
In the audience, Nemuri turned to look at Hizashi, who saw the look she was giving him. "...In my defense, that is not how I'd act for real," Hizashi said, "Even if you really were in debt to me by such an amount."
Scoffing bitterly, Dabi said, "I bet that dear old dad would act like that if someone was dying and it'd get them out of paying him back a major debt." Todoroki nodded in agreement with his older brother, prompting Endeavor to hang his head in wounded shame that his boys were hurting him so much.
...
As Ganma and his co-workers were going about working with Aizawa's students, Ganma himself was approached by Tsuyu and the other girls in 1-A. "Dad, can...can my friends and I take up a moment of your time?" Ganma could tell that his first born sounded upset, maybe on the verge of crying, so he turned to face her.
Ganma was taken aback a little when he saw that all of the girls looked upset, so he promptly went into good dad mode. "What's wrong girls?"
"We're...we're all just really worried about Nemuri-sensei is all," Kyoka said, looking down at the ground as pools of tears formed in the corners of her eyes, "I mean, you heard Aizawa-sensei. There's a sixty percent chance that Nemuri-sensei is not going to make it."
"...I take it she's that big of an influence on you all, huh?" Ganma remarked, sounding gentle and understanding.
"Well she's feeling and willing to express emotion when Aizawa-sensei is being a cold and distant ass, which is like seven out of ten times," Mina began, "And we can count on Nemuri-sensei to keep her head on straight when Hizashi-sensei isn't keeping his on straight, which is like eight out of ten times."
Both Aizawa and Hizashi in the audience turned to face Mina. "...Given that this is an alternate realm, and that the you here is obviously upset over what happened to Nemuri, I'm going to let that comment slide," Aizawa in the audience said in a warning tone.
"That, and I will admit that the me in that realm is being kind of dumb prioritizing a debt over a friend," Hizashi added.
Folding her arms over her chest, Nemuri said, "Not to mention how, to some extent, what the Mina in that realm said can apply for real in certain situations." Both guys looked up at Nemuri, who gave them a dry look.
"She gave me advice when I told her in confidence that I'm in love with Izuku," Uraraka said, blushing a bit in embarrassment, "Granted, I'm pretty sure said advice on what to do with Izuku isn't the most appropriate, but at least she tried to be genuinely helpful."
"Did she give you the same advice that she gave me when I told her in confidence that I'm in love with Kaminari?" Kyoka asked. Uraraka went over to Kyoka and whispered something into her ear. "...Well she said to me to use my bust and to you to use your butt, but aside from that it's the same advice."
This time, Aizawa and Hizashi turned to look at Nemuri and give her dry looks, while Uraraka, Kyoka, Izuku and Kaminari all blushed with embarrassment. "...Nezu hired you to the UA staff again because..." Aizawa in the audience remarked dryly, trailing off in a manner showing that he expected to be filled in.
Gently shaking his head, Nezu admitted, "Yeah, she could have restrained her habits more around the students, I will admit."
Gently shaking her head, Uraraka said, "Regardless, Nemuri-sensei was only trying to help us get guys we liked to like us back." Turning back to face Ganma, Uraraka continued, "We're all just really worried about her, Mr. Asui."
Ganma inhaled a bit before exhaling through his nose in a manner to show he didn't have much to say. "...I don't quite know what to tell you girls. All I can say is to hope for the best." Giving the girls a wry look, Ganma went on, "That Nemuri-sensei lady is the pro hero Midnight, right? And she was among those hurt in the rampage of that giant villain, right?"
The girls all nodded in the affirmative to this. "Yeah, a lot of other pro heroes were hurt in that rampage before the giant villain was finally defeated. From what I heard, both Mirko and Ryukyu were hurt in the rampage as well, but they're going to live."
Nodding in confirmation, Tsuyu said, "Yeah dad, they were both hurt kero. Mirko lost her left arm at the elbow, but she'll be getting a prosthetic replacement. Not sure how it'll affect her hero career. As for Ryukyu she got her left shin broken but it'll heal."
"I lost part of my left arm?!" Mirko in the audience exclaimed.
"That...that does not sound pleasant at all," Ryukyu said, sympathizing with the rabbit hero.
Gently shaking his head, Ganma said, "Yeah, all of them were banged up. But a good number of them are going to live, so we just have to hope that the same will apply to your teacher." The girls all nodded in agreement and then proceeded to group hug Ganma.
Looking on at this was Tokoyami and Dark Shadow. "...So that's your girlfriend's dad, huh Fumi?" Dark Shadow said, "I have to say, frog girl has a good family, what with the precious bean little bro and the good caring dad."
Tokoyami allowed himself a smirk. "Yes, Tsuyu's family are very good people. Granted, I have not yet met either Tsuyu's mom or little sister, but I bet that they will be just as lovely as folks as Mr. Asui and Samidare have proven to be." Tokoyami and his sentient quirk looked on as the toad-like man reassured the girls of 1-A that things would be fine.
FIN
"Well Mr. Asui is clearly a model parent," Toshinori remarked, "He is kind and reassuring to not just his own kids but the friends of his kids as well."
"He's similar to Kyoka's dad in how I'd rather have either of them as my dad as opposed to my actual dad," Todoroki said.
"I feel you, bro," Dabi agreed, "Hell, if we had a cool dad like that growing up, then maybe I would not have become a villain."
"...Ow, my pride..." Endeavor said as he hunched over in his theater seat slightly.
Turning to face Kotaro, Tale said, "All of this makes me wonder what the next episodes are going to be like."
The producer who managed an idol zombie group offered a wry smile. "...There's only one way to find out about that, fam."
END OF CHAPTER
Author's notes;
Yeah, I would have done Ganma last chapter, but then ch296 of the manga had to remind us that 2020 had been a pretty shit year. Anyway, there's only so many named family members left to do, so who will be next?
