Family Can Come As If By Magic

Chapter 10

Cedric groans as he wakes up and the first thing he notices is that his neck was going to be stiff and sore from sleeping on the couch, then second he notice was that Sofia was not on his lap anymore, but he was covered with the blanket tucked a bit more securely around him.

"Sofia?" Cedric called out and a small head peeked out from the small kitchen/dining room and then quickly Sofia comes out with a plate with a small stack of sandwiches.

"I am right here Papa, I just make Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches, want one?"

Cedric takes one of the sandwiches of the plate and said...

"That would be lovely, my dear, thank you."

"You're welcome." Sofia bites into her sandwich groaning in pleasure at the sweet nutty flavors mixed with the sweetness of the grape jelly.

Cedric takes one of the sandwiches and sighs contently when he bites into it, he had not eaten much today so he was hungry.

"Papa? Can we go see Grammie and Grandfather again, please." Sofia asked.

Cedric thought for moment and nods making the girl smiles and was off to get change for their trip to Mystic Meadows.

While she was doing that, Cedric goes writes a note to let anyone know of his whereabouts and packs a small bag of potions and snacks for their trip to Mystic Meadows and was buckling the bag shut when he saw Sofia walk in wearing a simple white shirt and dark purple pants with simple brown boots.

"Ready?" Cedric asked making sure that he had everything they might need.

"Ready, Papa."

Cedric takes Sofia's hand walking down the stairs and out of the castle and goes to the nearest empty coach and with a gesture of his hand, they were off.

The ride was filled with talking, eating and laughing at the most amusing of things and before they knew they were a Mystic Meadows and were greeted by both Goodwyn and Winifred as usual at the enterance.

"Oh Ceddy-kins and Sofia, how nice of you to come over for another visit."

Winifred was quick to hug her granddaughter and then her son afterwards.

"Greetings Father and Mother."

"Hi Grandpa and Grammie, how are you?"

"We are quite well Sofia and it is a nice day for stroll and maybe a game or two." Winifred as she took Sofia's hand and they were all off for a walk around the village.

Goodwyn winked at Sofia when he sneaks her a bag of sweets making the girl giggle as Cedric rolls eyes good naturely at the interaction.

"What kind of games can we play?" Sofia asked a while later as she had never seen any other types of magic based game, besides checkers and dazzleball.

"Hide and Seek which I guess in magical terms is you hide with magic and the finder would have to find with magic and the other game is Magical Tag which instead of someone physically touching you, you use a spell to mark the person so that they know who's it."

"Brilliant!" Sofia exclaimed as she was excited to play these games with her grandparents and Papa.

Cedric smiles as he sneakly waves his wand towards his father and before the older man could blink, Cedric said "Tag your it, old man."

Goodwyn narrows his eyes and gaves his son an evil, playful smirk, making the younger man gulp before he took off running ahead knowing that his father was not far behind chasing after him, making both Sofia and Winifred laugh at them while they were running around like kids, Goodwyn was trying to hit a dodging Cedric who was an expert at dodging and hiding from waywards spells and potions, so he didn't break a sweat darting his father's harmless spells while trying to return the favor.

Until he got cocky and was quickly "Tagged" and had his hair and skin turned to a ugly shade of yellow and pink poka dots for his teasing, he was begging his father to change his appearance back to normal, ignoring his laughing mother and daughter.

Onces his mother stopped laughing, she took pity on him and wave of her wand, his appearance was back to normal.

"Thank you, Mother." Cedric sighs in relief as his appearance was restored.

Winifred gave her son a mischievous smirk, making the younger sorcerer squirm uneasily, that he failed to see Sofia sneak up right behind him.

"Oh, Papa." Sofia said in a sing song voice that had Cedric turning towards his daughter, who casted a harmless color spell marking him.

Flinching in surpise at the unexpected spell, he recovers quickly and starts to chasing after his mischievous child, after few rounds of running Cedric finall got close enough to Sofia, that he scoops her up in his arms and tickles her until she was breathless with laughter and then he lifts her up above his head to make it seem like she is flying as she had her arms out the side and was smiling brightly as her Papa runs around with her until he had to take a break, unaware that two grandparents were smiling with such joy and happiness at how close they were.

"Let's go back to the house and make some fly cakes!" Winifred suggested and had to speed walk in hopes of catching up with with her two Sorcerers and her granddaugher as they were running back to the house, excited at getting their favorite treat.

Once they got back to the cottage, Winifred got busy in the kitchen with the help of Sofia.

"I am going to teach you how to make my famous Fly Cakes, we need some flour, sugar, milk, blueberries and strawberries, and some floating potion, that's what makes them fly or float around."

"Wow!" Sofia was in awe as she watched her Grammie added all the ingredients together on the countertop, turns to Sofia and asked...

"Do you want to help me make some "special" fly cakes?"

Sofia nods happily and takes the apron that and puts it on, and asked...

"What's so special about them? They already fly."

Winifred smiles and whispers into the girls ear, making the girl's smile widen further as they continue to make them, add the "Special" Ingredient and putting them in the oven to bake.

"Why don't we go check on the boys, while the cakes are cooking." Winifred said as Sofia runs ahead to go find her Papa and Grandpa.

They finally found the two man having a chat outside, about sorcerers and sorcereress of history and who was better at magic or potions.

"Papa! Grammie and I are making Fly Cakes and she is teaching me how to make them, isn't that neat!"

Cedric smiles at the excited girl as she talked about learning how to bake from his mother, just like both him and his sister were taught as well, but it wasn't as common for Cedric to cook or bake for himself as he had people bring him food at the castle, but since he had Sofia, he did try to instill some basic indepent skills in Sofia like cooking (with his help of course), dressing herself, tying her shoes and learning how to wash her self, but he still had to help with washing her hair, but Sofia was a quick learner and was doing most things for herself. But it was nice for Cedric to be still useful as parent when Sofia asked him to help her with brushing her hair or help her pick out a dress to wear for the day.

"I am glad that you are having a great time with your Grammie, now your Grandpa wants to spend sometime with you."

Sofia was waves to her Grammie and goes off with her Grandpa as the man explains what they are going to be doing.

"Have you ever heard of a familiar?"

Sofia shook her head no.

"A familiar is an animal that bonds with their sorcerer or sorcereress and becomes a friend to them and sometimes helps them with potions and magic."

"Amazing, but why are we talking about them, Grandpa?"

"Because I found a raven that your Papa might like, his name is Wormwood, he is abit grumpy, but I am sure that they will like eachother and I know that you will help with feeding him and giving him a good home."

Sofia nodded, excited about this surprise for her Papa.

When Sofia met Wormwood at the Raven's Home, he is a handsome, black raven with striking green eyes and had a cranky disposition, but he was well trained in delivering letters and was fast too and was shown to be loyal with the one that he chose.

Goodwyn had the raven hop on his shoulder as they made their way back to Cedric and Winifred.

Cedric was shocked that his father got him a raven and was more surprised when said raven sat on his shoulder not move a inch, reaching out to pet him, Wormwood coo'd a bit as he was petted by both his Master and his little mistress.

"Welcome to the family, Wormwood." Sofia said happily as they added to their ever growing family.
