...Until your Last Dying Breath...
"It's all for nothing!" The walls, roof and floor were closing, if nothing was done they would be crushed to death. Chisaki was as determined as before, if not more so, trying to stop them by any means necessary.
"Special Move: Phantom Thief!" Mirio ran at him, using his quirk to phase through the spikes that came towards him. And then once he reached them he punched Chisaki, square in the face. His mask was thrown completely off of him. But that wasn't all. Mirio searched through the pockets of the man, bringing out a pair of cases. One blue, one red.
"Give them back!" He shouted, grabbing towards Mirio to take hold but simply passing through. The area stopped closing in, those must be the bullets that he'd been making and didn't want to lose. "I've put too much work to lose it all now!"
"-Smash!" One of the walls on the side of the room broke apart, Midoriya came charging through first with Hawks, Nighteye, Eraserhead and Tokoyami.
"Deku, where are the others?!" Aurdel shouted. "Kirishima and Fat Gum were separated from us, and Rock Lock is restraining one of the Villains!"
"Go for him now!" Eraserhead shouted, his hair lifted as his quirk activated. The entire area suddenly and rapidly shifted as Chisaki lost his control over it, causing large sections of concrete to disappear and leaving a huge open space above them.
"Damnit…" Aurdel stayed back since he had Eri with him, the others went straight for Chisaki."Chrono!" A strand of hair shaped liked an hour hand flew from the man in white robes, hitting Eraserhead in the back. Crap!
"Get back!" Aurdel shouted, but it was too late. Chisaki's quirk returned and he slammed his fist into the ground, raising a massive column of concrete to block them from him.
"It took you long enough to get back up," Chisaki said annoyed, "And speaking of, Katsukame's booster should be going into effect now." Spikes shot upwards into the ceiling, blasting a hole through where he knew the road in front of the Yakuza stronghold was. Those that fell through were several police officers, Ryukyu, Uraraka, Tsuyu and the large Yakuza that they'd initially met at the gate. They were almost all completely drained of their energy, the ability to suck the life force of someone being that man's quirk. "Deal with them!" Chisakil shouted, breaking apart and reforming Katsukame to get rid of any damage the Heroes had previously done to him. "Yes sir!" The large man shouted, bringing about his large fists to slam into Ryukyu in her dragon form. With his renewed energy and their drained energy, it would be a losing fight. Hawks feathers separated and tried to deal with both Overhaul and Katsukame, but the former was able to simply swat them away and the latter was barely able to be affected by them individually. Eraserhead disappeared after Overhaul had thrown up the wall, presumably sending him to a separate room where he was stuck. Large chunks of concrete fell from the impromptu ceilnig above and smashed into the ground, Midoriya and Mirio worked quickly to help their fellow classmates and the police officers avoid being crushed.
"Hawks, take the girl out of here!" Aurdel shouted, "At the very least she has to escape or the whole operation is a failure!" He lifted her above his head, a vein bulged on Chisakil's head in anger. Spikes of stone raced towards him, Aurdel had to jump around several times with careful footwork to avoid being stabbed. Eventually individual feathers took hold of Eri, taking him out of his hands and bringing her over to Hawks.
"No!" the Yakuza boss shouted, reaching up towards the two. He directed his attacks towards the two but found himself at a complete disadvantage as he was no match for Hawks' speed.
"Manchester Smash!" With Overhaul distracted Midoriya leaped down, slamming his boot onto the top of Chisaki's head. There was enough force behind the blow that it force the man's legs to collapse under his weight and was thrown into the ground, separately a slab of concrete that practically bounced off of the floor below it. "Lemillion, now!"
"Right!" Mirio practically flew over. "Improvised Special Move: Air Support Smash!" Mirio rebounded back and forth off of the rocks in the air, keeping them in place as he came and went. And by keeping Chisaki in the air it meant that he essentially had no means of fighting back against them, as there was no material for him to use for attacks. Over a dozen punches struck Chisaki before Midoriya dealt the final blow, violently kicking Chisaki in the stomach and sending him flying. And as for Aurdel, it's not like he'd just stood by and watched them fight.
Rather, he went with Tokoyami and Nighteye to put down Katsukame. With slight of hand Nighteye pulled out several hyper density deals, throwing them directly into the kneecaps of the monster sized man. Even if the man was able to physically take such a blow, it still provided them the bodily reflex that would allow them to quite literally tip the battle in their favor. As the man's legs had forcibly extended by reflex, Tokoyami used Dark Shadow to completely pry him off of the ground and lifted him by his legs into the air. Immobilized, Aurdel took the opportunity to hop onto the man and strike. By jabbing his hands like knives he was able to push through the flesh and skin, attacking the soft organs inside the man's body. His liver and kidneys were both struck, erupting in a body-wide stimulation of pain receptors and a release of toxins. Ryukyu then dealt the final blow to the man, stomping her claw onto the man's chest to take hold and throw him off to the side with the other unconscious Villains.
Aurdel looked up, the situation on the upper layer was getting worse by the minute. More and more pipe and cables snapped, destroying most of what was left of the very little resistance keeping the entire road from collapsing. If something wasn't done they were likely to be buried alive down here before they could even make an arrest. "Ryukyu, Uraraka, take Tokoyami with you and try to support the road as long as you can. This raid won't have been much of a success if we all died at the very end."
"Got it!" Uraraka said, touching Tokoyami and herself to make themselves float upwards.
"Nejire, Froppy, go with them and make sure that the police have evacuated any Yakuza they've already captured. And search the houses for any civilians, we don't want them getting caught in this mess in case the whole block decideds to collapse."
"You can count on us!" Nejire said, bringing Froppy up with her.
"We... We did it..." Midoriya said, looking where Chisaki and the two other Villains in the room lay. Chisaki was obscured behind the large one, and judging by the beating he'd gone through it should have been safe to assume that he was knocked out. Unfortunately for them, 'should have' didn't mean 'was.'
"Disgusting.." Aurdel heard at a barely audible level, he raised his arm up to prevent the two students from getting any closer to the Villains they were about to secure. Crap… Chisaki stood back up and walked into view, a syringe filled with Trigger now in his hand. "I hate doing things like this, the filth disgusts me." He raised the syringe, jamming it into the vein on his neck. "But what I think of it doesn't matter. All that matters is that I crush you here, and remove the disease known as Heroism that plagues this world!" The air around him rippled as the drug went active, like it somehow made him able to grasp the air with his hand and deconstruct it. The rapid disassembly and reassembly of the air provided a violent decompression, blowing the two students behind Aurdel back with a shockwave. Chisaki raised his hands into the air and looked him dead in the air, murderous intent and anger inside of his own. "All of the Bullets are loyal to me, and will die for me if necessary." He placed one hand on the Katsukame, one on Nemoto. The three figures broke apart into chunks of flesh and blood, creating a red mist. As he transformed he took chunks of ground from beneath himself, using them in place of bones. Once the mist had cleared it revealed a kaiju-like creature of flesh and stone.
Overhaul raised several of his now many hands, slamming them at full force into the ground and activating the quirk. Almost instantly a square mile of stone was obliterated beneath the feet of everybody still standing, causing them to fall the distance of the rock he'd taken. "He's become completley desperate," Aurdel muttered under his breath. The stone swirled around the air before coming down to form several spires, stretching towards the sky through the hole that some of the Heroes had entered through above them. With mini-tremors in his wake Overhaul walked over to the newly constructed spires, using them like a ladder to get out of the hole. "Mirio, do you still have that case you took from Chisaki?"
"I do," Mirio handed him the case and Aurdel opened it. Four quirk erasing bullets. "What are you planning?"
"I'm going to try and give him a taste of his own medicine, destroy his quirk. If he loses his quirk he should lose his form and the battle will be over."
"How are you going to get up there?" Midoriya asked, watching Overhaul climb up the spires toward the spires. "It's a long way up, and if the spires collapse while you're climbing-"
"I'll manage, don't worry about it. Just find where Chisaki shunted off Eraserhead to and evacuate from down here, it's not safe. And once you get to the surface try to stay out of sight." Midoriya seemed reluctant to follow his word this one time, but ultimately relented.
Aurdel braced himself, then broke into a full sprint towards the spires. They were massive stone structures nearly ten feet thick, stretching high up into the sky for a distance Aurdel didn't bother to calculate giving the the more pressing manners. With his built up momentum he was able to get into a running jump, soaring through the air and landing at a quite respectable distance up the spire. But it's not like he'd completely scaled the thing in one jump, so he kept climbing. Even for his training it was some of the most intense climbing he ever done. Massive gusts of winds blew down and around him, threatening to throw him off of the spire. Bad footholds were common, often crumbling under his weight as he tried to move upwards. Rocks fell from above, threatening to strike him off. To add onto all of that, it was being done with no safety precautions. Granted he'd survived further falls, but it still wasn't pleasant.
The first spire cracked across the middle, forcing him to further increase the speed at which he was scaling the spires. It was at a pace which no normal human could match, and even very few Spartans could do so either. That was when he heard the loud sound of what sounded like thunder, striking through the middle of the spire. It began to collapse. He went from climbing on to running across as the angle changed, striking the spire that had been next to it. The four pillars when off like a domino chain, and by the time the fourth spire was completely collapsing he was in jumping distance of the surface. He leaped upward, grabbing hold of an exposed pipe that he used to pull himself upwards and onto the road.
Jesus, it was worse than he'd thought. Overhaul has gone into a total and complete rage following his physical defeat by the Heroes, climbing up to the surface and destroying homes in what appeared to both be an attempt at anger relief and to find where Hawks was hiding with Eri. Houses were crushed or collapsed, cars were reduced to smoldering wrecks. Aurdel stuck his head back into the hole and turned on his speakers "Get out of there! There's no point in holding up the road any longer, you'll just get crushed once it finally does collapse!" The three Heroes turned their heads back towards him. Tokoyami was the first to go, Aurdel pulled the boy up from the hole. Ryukyu went next followed by Uraraka, though the latter had trouble. Her face went green as her nausea seemed to completely take over, forcing her quirk to deactivate. "Got you!" He caught her at practically the last moment, then pulled her up.
"I'm sorry… I'm too tired."
"Don't worry about it, you did everything you could and that's more than I could ask for. Get to safety with the officers and rest up, I don't doubt that there is going to be a lot of the neighborhood to clean up." He helped her back onto her feet, allowing her to lean on Tokoyami and Ryukyu as they retreated. He knew that Ryukyu especially would have been helpful to fight the massive Chisaki, but given how much energy she had left and both fighting and being trained it was for the best not to push them past their limits. Aurdel turned back, Overhaul was crushing the streets with his eyes darting around trying to locate Eri among all of the rubble. He let out a gutteral scream of rage and frustration, awful sounding.
"Eri, you belong to me and you know it!" Overhaul shouted, his voice amplified by using Nemoto's quirk on Eri specifically, "If you don't give up now then you're just going to get more people killed! Because what you are is a curse, one that must be controlled!" Aurdel sprinted into the effective range of his handgun, loading in the quirk erasing bullets. "Show me where you are!" He pulled the trigger twice and two bullets left the barrel of the gun in rapid succession, gunning straight for Overhaul. Aurdel had aimed specifically for some of the exposed flesh on Overhaul's body, but using a handgun from this far away made hitting shots such as this extremely difficult. One bullet veered sharply off course as a massive gust of wind hit it, sending it to smash into one of the large stone spots on Overhaul's back. The second round however found its mark, striking the flesh. "You will pay!" But it had no effect. The outer layer of flesh and skin had hardened to such a level that the bullet wasn't able to penetrate and, instead, bounced off.
In response Overhaul used a combination of attacks with his massive arms. Some of them he slammed into the ground, causing massive spikes to surge towards Aurdel. He jumped and landed on top of them, running across to close the distance between himself and Overhaul. Next we're several large boulders flung in his direction, the next one larger than the last. Aurdel narrowly avoided them, sidestepping, jumping over or completely avoiding. "Smash!" Out of nowhere came Midoriya, striking the last boulder that came barreling towards. "We found Mr. Aizawa, he was cut off from us in another room and stuck with Chroni. I would have brought him up here but his movements are still too slow to use his quirk."
"I thought I told you to get away," Aurdel shook his head, "I guess it can't be helped. Midoriya, I'm going to try and attract Overhaul's attention. When that happens I want you to go find Hawks and Eri, make sure that they're both still alive and safe."
"Doing that is going to be horribly dangerous… But I trust you! Don't worry sir, you can count on me!" The two of them separated, each of them heading in a different direction. Aurdel slid onto his knees as Overhaul chucked a car at him, the bottom of the vehicle barely missing the top of his helmet. As it went past him it exploded behind him, he kept charging forward. His eyes widened slightly as he braced himself, an entire house was thrown at him. Getting through it would be an impossible task for almost anyone, but he did it in milliseconds. He jumped up and kicked down the door that would have hit him first, running across the floor before being forced to climb on it as the whole structure tilted. At the peak of its rotation he came out the opposite side of the house, bursting back out through a window. The attacks kept coming, frustrating Overhaul as it continued distracting him from his goal. Eventually he launched from the rocks from his body in a massive hail of large projectiles, large enough to be used like platforms. Aurdel lept from one to another, each one he stepped on being thrown downward from the force of him landing on it.
"Stay out of my way!" They increased in speed, intensity and number. Each one was thrown at Aurdel in an attempt to skewer him, but none of them hit their marks. "Eri, tell me where you are so I can put all of this to an end!" He shouted, using Nemoto's quirk to force her to answer. But what happened next was not something that neither Aurdel or Overhaul expected.
Midoriya stood on the ground, hair standing up in a bright tint. Eri was holding onto his back, tied to him with Mirio's cape. And surrounding both of them was a green-blue corona effect. Lightning crackled as a massive amount of energy seemed to gather around the both of them. Midoriya kicked downward and both he and Eri launched into the sky with a violent force, a shockwave of air spreading out across the ground and kicking up dust. In the blink of an eye Midoriya had shot towards Overhaul's main body, reeling back his leg again to kick the man. When he did, he was sent flying high up into the air. It was a truly amazing sight to see.
Overhaul tried to reform his body mid-air, changing it to have as many hands as possible and grab Midoriya to tear him apart. But the boy seemed to just have too much strength, punching air and causing shockwaves powerful enough to punch straight through the extra limbs. "Why can't any of you… See the bigger picture?!" Aurdel continued running towards the fight, though had to eventually jump down from the elevated platforms due to them no longer appearing. "You have no vision, I'll tear down this diseased world!" The arms regrew, trying to swat Midoriya out of the air. None of them could hit their mark.
"Need a lift?" Mirio came out of nowhere with a smile, launching upward from the ground and grabbing Aurdel. He'd fallen far enough down that when he launched back up he had enough force to lift Aurdel off the ground, launching him into the sky. It was to an impressive height, one that he hadn't expected the boy to be capable of. But he took advantage of the situation and angled himself towards Overhaul, going straight for his head. Midoriya did the same, with the sun to his back it created a shadow over the boy's face. And with a punch that most likely looked and felt like the judgemental wrath of God, they both struck Overhaul dead in the face. The Yakuza boss was sent flying downwards from the air and slammed back down into the destroyed ground, a tremor sounding as he did.
Aurdel locked his armor to avoid taking too much force from hitting the ground, then stood up. They were down for sure now. But there was one thing that he had to do to make sure that Overhaul wouldn't present the same threat ever again. Aurdel walked over and placed his hand on Overhaul's forehead, Aurdel felt the transfer take place. Then once he knew that he'd taken the quirk he separated the three Yakuza members putting them into restraints.
...Aftermath...
Before he was forced to explain himself, Aurdel assisted in the rescue and recovery efforts in the area. Much of the neighborhood that the fight had taken place in was completely demolished in Chisaki's rampage. Luckily, though, there weren't any civilian casualties. Because it was a weekday nearly everyone was at work, and those that had stayed in the area were evacuated by the minor Heroes and police by the time the larger threat had arisen. On their side there were several people with injuries. Amajiki had been injured in his fight with three Yakuza members, Kirishima had severe damage done to his skin on his elbows and arms, Fat Gum had a broken rib alongside major bruising and the loss of nearly all his fat stores, Rock Lock had several trauma wounds, Eraserhead had a stab wound and temporary minor hearing loss, several police were seriously injured, Mirio had minor injuries, Uraraka, Asui, Nejire and Ryukyu had to be rehydrated intravenously, Tokoyami had minor injuries and Nighteye had some small scrapes. As for the Yakuza, many of them had minor injuries as they'd had to be beaten into submission by both Heroes and police.
However one situation that had been odd before became more so when it was further looked into. The cause behind the surge in Midoriya's power had been the mislabeling of Eri's they'd thought that it was just a quirk that could destroy quirks, but it was much more than that. It was a quirk that can rewind any living being, even to the point of non-existence. It'd simply only been that Chisaki's goal was to eliminate quirks and this the end result of the bullets. And because Midoriya broke his body every time he used his power at the highest level, it meant that he could infinitely do so as a result of Eri rewinding those wounds. However the elephant in the room could not be permanently ignored. "That quirk you have, it's All For One's," Nighteye stated.
"It is."
"Why didn't you tell us?" Midoriya asked.
"I didn't know I had it until recently, a few days ago. And even then I didn't know it was All For One's until today when Nemoto forced me to talk about it." Aurdel looked at his hand, "But doesn't change anything. I'm the same man as I was before I had it."
"It changes many things," Nighteye said, "Quirks are complicated, I'm sure you know this by now. They aren't akin to some part of a computer or machine you can swap in or out with different purposes. They leave imprints of the person who used the quirk on them, it's why quirks passed from parent to child are considered different as they lack the imprint."
Midoriya seemed to pick up from there, "But One For All is like that, I was able to see the previous users of One For All in a vision. It was passed on from one user to the next."
"Then I'm going to make the logical assumption and assume that you think because of imprints All For One is in my head." He sighed, "If he's in my head, then he hasn't made himself known. And as for whether or not you think he will be able to control my actions, he won't."
"How can you know that for sure?"
"He just won't. Part of our conditioning during our training was to shield ourselves against continuous mental attacks, and if I'm going to be perfectly honest I think I was one of the better ones at doing so." He folded his arms, "Besides, if we were going to work under the assumption that having someone hidden in a quirk like that is going to allow them to take you over then why hasn't it happened to you yet?" He gestured towards Midoriya. "You've had your quirk for much longer than I've had mine, but you're still completely in control of yourself."
"I guess you're right…" Midoriya said, "But you still have the quirk of the most dangerous and evil Villain to exist. Not to mention, you also have Chisaki's quirk now."
"I can understand the concern, but I can handle myself. And if they do somehow manage to try and take over, then I'll put an end to it myself," he said, pulling out a gun to emphasize exactly what he meant. "Besides, it's better to take such powerful abilities away from Villains rather than to let them keep them. I can already think of many things that I can do with either power to help a lot of people."
"Like what?"
"Well, for starters…"
"Breaking News from the world of Heroes!" The newscaster said, "We finally have an answer to what all that commotion earlier today was. In one of the residential districts, a raid on the Yakuza clan known as the Shie Hassakai occurred with the cooperation of Heroes and police. Over three hundred individual Yakuza members were arrested, among them being the young Yakuza clan head Kai Chisaki and the former boss. The raid was in response to the gangs increase in prominence in the drug trade, creating and distributing the enhancer known as Trigger among other drugs. During the fight to take the hideout, a large amount of damage was done by the Villains to drive off the Heroes and was unsuccessful. The battle also saw cooperation from some of the nations top Heroes, such as Nighteye, Fat Gum, Hawks, Ryukyu and, of course, Spartan. However curiously, all the damage that happened during the fight between Heroes and Villains was quickly repaired by Heroes unlike anything else ever seen." Another person came in view of the camera, stepping over to whisper to the newscaster's ear. "W-W-Well listeners! We have some even more pressing breaking news for you! According to press statements released by several Hero agencies, the Heroes Endeavor, Edgeshot and Mt. Lady will be all leaving retirement to return back to work after a near miraculous recovery. It's not known at this time what allowed them to do so, however I feel that I speak for many when I say that having these pros back on the streets is a true blessing for all of us. So whoever helped those Heroes recover, we-" Aurdel turned off the TV.
"Never did I think that I would ever see All For One's evil powers used for a truly good purpose," All Might said. He laid back in the chair, "You're a unique person. The moment most people knew they had a power like that, they would begin to do evil deeds by stealing all the powers that they could. But you didn't."
"It just not something I would do, no real other way to explain it. Some people just have their own thoughts on what to do with power once they have it, I chose to help. Besides, there was at least a little bit of guilt given the fact that they were all injured and lost their quirks while I lost nothing."
"I guess that would make as good a reason as any," All Might said, a slight grin on his face.
"But what about you, are you going to take up my offer? I can easily restore your body to what it used to be, even allow you to work as a Hero again."
"Young Midoriya told you about my injuries, didn't he? You can heal my wounds, but I don't think that I should go back to being a Hero. No one can do something forever and at some point I was going to have to retire, I feel that it was better for it to happen now rather than later." He sighed, "Besides, the quirk that I passed on to Midoriya wouldn't come back to me. It doesn't work like that."
"Then I can try and recreate the quirk, then duplicate so that it would function at the same level of power. Though I can't make any guarantees."
"Like I said, even if I wanted to keep going I would have to still give it up eventually. Besides, there's nothing wrong with simply teaching the new generation of Heroes." He smiled, "And anyways, if there's anyone you should be talking to about One For All it should be him and not me. It's not my power anymore."
"I suppose you're right," he stood up, "But you don't don't have any objections to having your body repaired? I won't be doing it to myself, but that's for personal reasons."
"Personal reasons?"
"I have an artificial leg, one that I received when I was younger because my real leg was disfigured during training. I could replace it now with a real one, but I won't. I'll only get rid of it once I've found the part of me that's missing. Not literally, of course."
"I can understand that. But if I'm to help young Midoriya to reach his full potential, then I must put in all the effort that I can."
"I'll take that as a yes."
"Yes, it is."
"This will just take a moment."
