A/N: At least I made myself emotional.
She sleepily walks down the hall into the bedroom next to their's. The sun shining bright through the window immediately draws her attention to the wall across from the crib.
There staring back at her in a beautifully painted portrait is one Donald Blye. It wasn't there before they went to bed last night, that she knows. "God, that man is trying to kill me."
As the tears spring to her eyes, she bites her lip trying to hold back the sobs that want to break free. "Babe, can you come here for a second?"
It's all but 30 seconds before her husband steps into the nursery to join her. Deeks' eyes immediately go to her protruding 8 month belly, looking for any sign of distress. When he assesses that she's okay, he looks up and is met with her glistening mismatched chocolate orbs. "What is it, baby?"
"Um, where-where did this come from?"
"Do you not like it?"
Kensi can't hold back her tears any longer nor can she hold back her sobs.
He takes hold of her hand and guides her to the rocking chair by the window. Sitting down in the chair, he pulls her down to sit on his lap. As she curls into his side, his lips find the top of her head and starts rocking back and forth. "I just thought that grandpa needed watch over his girl."
"Thank you."
"I know how much you miss him and how you're thinking about all that he's gonna miss, but even though he's not here our little girl is gonna know about how bad ass and amazing her Grandpa Don was."
"I miss him so much. Especially now."
"I know you do, baby. I know you do." He presses another kiss to the top of her head as he lets his wife continue to morn the times she'll never get to experience with her father and little girl.
As her sobs slowly dwindle down, something springs to mind that may help ease her pain."Hey, how about we go to Yosemite this weekend? Do a little hiking and fishing before the baby comes?"
Her lip curls into a smile and she tilts her head back, looking up into his gorgeous blue eyes. "I really like that idea."
"Yeah, and then every year what if we go up and do the same on your dad's birthday? No matter what we give Thena a connection to what he use to do with you?"
This man. How on earth did she get so amazingly lucky? Bringing her hand up, she cups his jaw, her thumb running back and forth in soothing motions across his cheeks. "If I wasn't already pregnant I'm pretty sure I would be now." She smiles when he wiggles his eyebrows suggestively. "Do you have any idea how much I love you right now?"
"Considering how good I look, I can imagine it's a whole lot."
The glint in her eye is expected but she can't help the smile as she reaches up, touching her lips to his. "I love you."
His forehead finds its place against hers as they continue to rock back and forth in the room that will only be vacant for a few more weeks. "I love you, beautiful."
