I know that recently I decided not to continue with this story, but I can't get it out of my head and thanks to some words that made me reflect, I was encouraged to continue.

Thank you very much to those who took the time to write me. I really appreciate it.

As I said at the beginning I really hope not to upset anyone with this story and if I do I apologize.

Now this chapter follows the same timeline as the last two above.

Ok... hope you like it!

TOO LATE...

Nine.

Part III

Shit!

One of the Mikaelson brothers pronounced the correct word after the unexpected event that changed the whole situation. Probably Kol.

After the explosion that the gun produced, everything was a complete disaster, the blood was spread all over the place, the drops even stained Elijah's suit.

Niklaus's breathing became strained and heavy, he was still pointing at the third man with a hollow expression in his eyes.

That was the payment for breaking the omertà and that was what that man and the other two deserved after daring to attack the Mikaelson family.

Dammit!

An enraged Finn closed the distance between himself and Niklaus and grabbed his brother by the shirt and lifted him towards him.

"Have you lost your mind?"

Finn spat out the words with tension in his teeth. He did not expect that his brother will act so fast. They needed at least one of the men alive, now how the hell would he explain this to his father?

Klaus grunted and shoved Finn away from him.

The feeling of rage plus the adrenaline pumping through his blood was blinding Niklaus completely.

He was getting carried away by all the emotions that swirled inside of him. Which made it a perfect match for a disaster.

With a sharp nose exhale, Niklaus ran his hands over his chin. His eyes stayed fixed on the three hanging corpses as he hid his gun again in the holster of his pant.

"I will take all the men with me."

There was no hesitation with that order, and Niklaus didn't care what his brothers thought.

With or without them he would perform tonight.

Niklaus was willing to do justice with his bare hands, but before moving forward Elijah got in his way.

Of all of them, perhaps it was Elijah who was the calmest despite the obvious recklessness he had just witnessed.

"I think you are not thinking things correctly brother."

"Get out of my way!" Niklaus didn't mind that his words sounded like some kind of warning.

Everyone in the room knew well the reason for his exaltation, but decisions were not to be made on the sole impulse to carry out a confrontation.

That was not how things were done.

"Niklaus... You know better than anyone that business isn't run like this. I know you're upset, but-" Elijah insisted again, but he didn't have time to clarify his point.

Niklaus took a deep breath, he knew Elijah was right, but the rage that that bastard's confession produced brought him to the limit.

"Annoying? Did you hear well what that bastard said!"

Klaus yelled as he pointed at the man he shot and then expressed his helplessness against the wall closest to him.

Now his blood blended with those of those men.

His knuckles parted and Niklaus didn't even feel pain.

"The Dumas were responsible for all the bombings including Hope's failed kidnapping! Where Hayley ended up dead!"

Yes...that incident had been the reason why his daughter was in that condition of mutism.

Since that day Hope had stopped talking.

Niklaus turned and screamed louder, his eyes flushed with anger and he reminded his brothers again of all the deaths that had not been avenged.

"Marc... Beatrice, Eric and their family were murdered in their own home and now we know who were responsible, they... Do you think I'll just sit here idly doing nothing?"

All of them had worked loyally for the Mikaelson family, which is why they were unjustly murdered.

And the only ones responsible, the Dumas.

The Dumas were the great deserters of the Chrysanthemum Clan, the first to hate the Mikaelson family.

Especially Niklaus.

Who walked in a circle looking at each of his brothers in the face.

"After everything those bastards caused. Do you think I'll stay here waiting for them to attack again? I have the right to demand the price! I have the right by law We have to attack before they do it again!"

Finn breathed slowly, his brother was right, but they still couldn't act, not right now and not without first having a plan.

"We have to plan things well! The the trinity will come soon. An improvised war can become very risky if the necessary measures are not taken, Niklaus. First we must plan things very well. I assure you that I more than anyone else wants revenge. But we must be one step ahead. Remember how business is run brother..."

Niklaus lowered his head this time calmer, considering his older brother's words... Finn was right.

Kol came over and leaned on Klaus's shoulder.

"Klaus, I support you in everything you say. I also want to kill all those bastards once and for all, but let's do it right. We will kill those sons of bitches and we will do it in the bloodiest way possible. That is what Finn means. Oh come on man! even I get it."

Kol slapped him on the chest to ease the tension.

Elijah on the other hand made a face towards his stained shirt and stared at Niklaus.

"Next time... let us know before you fill us with your mess, it's disgusting!"

Niklaus said nothing, Kol only scoffed at Elijah's complaint and Finn shared the same silence as his brother while still staring at him.

Niklaus turned to Finn and made something very clear between them.

"Okay. We will do things the old way. But don't be confused Finn. I won't be left out of this. From now on I am inside. It is understood?"

Finn agreed with that. With a little bow of his head he welcomed Niklaus, accepting his terms.

Kol was the most enthusiastic of all when listening to his brother.

"Welcome back to work bloody Wolf."

The others looked at each other's faces and shook their heads as they heard the old nickname Niklaus.

But yeah... Bloody wolf was back.

Damon walked over to Bonnie and handed her the glass of water as she handed him the photograph.

Damon hadn't had time to clean up the mess, as soon as Bonnie called him saying that she wanted to see him, Damon gave her the address of his apartment and he only had a short time to shower and be presentable to her.

He had completely forgotten about all the documents and sheets that he had left piled up on the table.

Damon inspected the photo a little before his eyes met the curious eyes of the small woman near him.

"It's a case I'm working on."

He smiled and replaced the photo in the same place.

It was a surprise for Bonnie to hear him say that.

"I thought I couldn't keep working like a poli - " the whisper shot out.

Damon stumbled over her words as he remembered that he was no longer a cop.

"No. No... Now I work as a private detective."

The two looked at each other for a brief moment before Bonnie broke the moment by averting her gaze elsewhere.

Damon had lost his position in the police department and he practically would have had a successful career if things hadn't gotten out of hand. And yes, Bonnie always felt responsible for that too, but she wasn't.

"I always blamed myself for being the one responsible - "

Damon stopped her.

"No... it wasn't your fault, I knew what I was getting into. Besides... it's more fun this way, I don't have to be governed by anyone and I do things my way."

Joshua Parker also did to Damon what he did to Robert. He forced him to retire from his job, discrediting him and preventing him from working in another department, just because he saw a major obstacle in Damon and also because Damon almost managed to kill his son.

Bonnie nodded, but that didn't make her feel any better.

"Did something wrong happen to her?" She asked in reference to Kimberly.

"She disappeared a few weeks ago, I'm just helping an old friend find her."

Bonnie took some water and made a sad face.

"wow... that's unfortunate..."

She frowned and turned to face him.

The memory of a week ago rushed into her mind like a reminder she couldn't ignore.

With a frown and a slightly tilted head she asked him.

"Why are you working with the Mikaelson family... What do you do for them exactly?"

That question had surrounded her all week. Damon was not very cooperative in giving her more information. Bonnie blamed the moment, so now being alone with him with enough time to talk, she was more than curious to know what were the relationships that existed between them.

Damon cleared his throat and brought up a hand to cough.

"Just a consulting job, you know... to improve their security system. Nothing to worry about."

Damon couldn't talk more than he should, even if it was Bonnie. The less she knew, the better.

Bonnie nodded and drank.

Bonnie had realized that they were people potentially surrounded by a lot of security, it was a little strange and that had caught her attention. But apparently so much security was due to an incident that Hope had in the past and until now Bonnie did not dare to ask more about it.

She had some suspicions, but only that, she did not dare to inquire further.

However, like her, Damon was also a bit intrigued about something, he was curious about the unexpected relationship that arose between her and Niklaus.

The night he saw her dressed as a white was a great shock to him.

Damon never imagined a marriage between Bonnie and Niklaus and until now that was still very confusing for him. The hypotheses were very different, especially after Finn asked him to accept a new job.

So Damon stared at her and then the question suddenly arose between them.

"I never imagined that you and Klaus -"

Bonnie widened her eyes upon hearing Damon's assumptions regarding Klaus and she had no problem denying it.As if that would change anything.

"Oh no... no, our marriage is-is just an arranged marriage, just that... It-It wasn't even going to be me who was going to marry him -"

"You do not?"

Damon asked more confused than before and Bonnie was sorry she had talked too much.

He took the already empty glass from her and put it on the table, with a gesture they both advanced to the sofa.

Bonnie sighed as she sat across from him, there was no need for her to lie to him, not him.

"Emily... she was going to be the one to get married, but -"

Damon finished the sentence for her.

"But... you decided it was better to take her place... didn't you?"

Bonnie made a face.

"Am I that predictable?"

That made Damon smile who caressed her cheek.

"No... I prefer to think that I know you well."

Bonnie lit up at the comment, because it was true, one of the few people who really knew her was him.

Until now no one knew and she had not spoken to anyone.

But... The truth of all this was that Bonnie had not been persuaded by her grandmother as she was supposed to. Bonnie just thought she was stronger and decided to take her sister's place and now she was just trying to deal with that decision.

Bonnie couldn't deny that she felt conflicted, there were times when she regretted it and other times she just... no. It was contradictory, but it was done and she had to move on.

Her excuse for her grandmother to let her do it was by telling her that Emily was with Burak... and instead she.. she was alone, and obviously Lucy wasn't an option either. Just her.

She assured her grandmother that there would be no problems and asked her to only put a clause in the prenuptial contract... that's why Bonnie did too. She had an endorsement that assured her to end the marriage one day, and Emily might not have had that opportunity.

There was no reason to explain why she did it. Bonnie had reason enough to do so, but damon was always a good confidante for her.

So sje gave him a small smile and shrugged.

"Emily has done a lot for me... I felt like I had to make up for all that, even though she doesn't know I did it for her. I owe it to her... She has always tried to protect me - "

Bonnie stopped when she remembered the day Kai walked into her room and Emily futilely tried to stop him from taking her away.

Emily fought fearlessly, but she ended up unconscious on the ground after Kai beat her and caused the loss of her baby.

Bonnie never forgave herself for that.

Emily never berated or blamed her for her loss, she just put all her worry on her.

And Bonnie didn't have the courage to speak to her sister and to this day she was very sorry for that.

Damon's voice brought her back.

"Hey... don't worry. I get it, and... I'm not judging you."

Bonnie nodded and smiled at him again.

"Thank you..."

A small silence grew eternally awkward between them until Damon reminded Bonnie of the reason for her visit.

"What did you want to talk to me about? You sounded a little nervous..." A little pause with a frown. "...Am I the one who should worry?"

He had a hunch or was it just a fluke?

She held her gaze with his and found in it the confidence and security she needed.

But again Bonnie was hesitant to do what brought her here in the first place.

She did not know if it was convenient to continue involving more people to her problem, because this was her problem, and she had no right to drag more people into her drama.

Damon had done so much for her and how she paid him? Was it fair to him to drag him back into her life tragedy?

"Bonnie...?"

Damon pressured her a little more.

Bonnie was silent still debating which was the best decision.

There was no other way... who else could she talk to about what was going on? With her family? No... She had no one, so far she had not found any therapists.

Damon saw the doubt in her eyes, he took her hands in his and massaged her hand with his fingers to give her a little more courage.

Bonnie plunged into the blue of his eyes.

It had always been so easy to talk to him. Things were always easier with him.

"You know that even though a long time has passed, you can count - "

"Kai has been sending me things..."

Bonnie immediately interrupted Damon and neither of them said anything for a few seconds.

Damon's reaction was unmatched.

He stopped the movement in her hands and gritted his teeth when he heard that the bastard had dared to contact her.

How was it possible?

But he couldn't be amazed by that, Damon knew first-hand how the system worked, and the system was always very venal, everything depended on money and power.

And that was what the Parker family had to spare.. money and power.

But soon all that would end.

Damon exhaled through his nose slowly before asking.

"Since when?"

Bonnie hesitated a bit before answering.

"The first time was a few months after he was sentenced - "

"How many times has he done it?"

"What has he sent you?"

Bonnie looked up and met a cold expression in Damon's eyes.

The urgency in his tone of voice scared her a little and Damon realized his wrong attitude. "Sorry..." he quickly apologized and encouraged her to continue.

Bonnie nodded and tucked a tuft of hair behind her ear.

"He has done it four times... the first was a letter..." She took time to explain. "I didn't know it was from him and when I realized... I couldn't finish reading it. I was scared..."

That day she couldn't stop crying.

Bonnie cleared her throat.

"The second..."

This time she paused for a long time and with a frown she turned to look at him.

"... it was a lock of hair..."

Bonnie snorted bitterly and she repeated the words again, because for her it was still hard to believe.

Damon was silent, listening earnestly and carefully without interrupting her.

"Can you believe it? A lock of my hair?"

Bonnie shook her head a little and ran her sweaty hands down her pants.

"That was sent along with a note." She narrowed her eyes at nothing. "I don't remember him cutting a lock of my hair, but he did..."

Bonnie whispered and swallowed hard as she remembered what happened next.

"It was horrible. I felt so... I didn't think things through and..."

She heaved an embarrassed sigh and closed her eyes before saying what that made her do.

"I just... cut my hair." Automatically she ran her hands over her tired face.

That outburst had great consequences for her.

Bonnie thought about it before continuing. With a fragile tone in her voice, Damon heard perfectly.

"I was admitted... I was confined for a few weeks in a clinic."

A chill ran through her body.

She would never want to go back to a place like that...

Those days were the darkest for her. Damon didn't know that because he had been gone long before.

Damon took her hands in his again, surprised on the one hand and furious on the other, however he hid his emotions well so as not to scare her.

Bonnie smiled when she saw her hands clasp with his.

When everything was finally over... when Kai was finally put in prison, Bonnie thought that after that everything would be better, but it wasn't.

She had to deal with the post trauma and its aftermath and especially the guilt. The guilt that until now had been difficult to bear.

All those nights that she did not sleep. The little sounds that disturb her mind, and that inevitably made insomnia a part of her life.

Having to sleep with the lights on. Having to sleep with someone else to wake up at midnight screaming from nightmares for fear of being kidnapped, humiliated, beaten, raped, tortured...

Fear that he would enter her room again.

Bonnie squeezed her eyes.

Her emotions were everywhere.

By God she was only a teenager, she was only eighteen. How to deal with something like that being so young?

She had lost control of her life and she had given control to him, to Kai.

Upon being admitted in a clinic, Bonnie was treated as a person who could not take care of herself. Those days she felt completely helpless and so vulnerable because she didn't want to feel so beside herself.

Although she begged not to be confined, no one listened to her, but like blaming her grandmother, Sheila only thought it was best for her granddaughter.

Sheila was afraid that Bonnie would lash out at her own life.

And Bonnie had to suppress her emotions to get out of that place as quickly as possible because she hated the sedatives that forced her to drink to sleep. Bonnie hated when her eyes closed. She hated falling into a deep sleep, because every time she slept her dreams turned into nightmares.

Kai was always hovering in her head.

For that reason, Bonnie hated sleep medications.

She left that place hiding the truth of how she felt until she met Camille.

Camille had been the only person to know all the pain and suffering in Bonnie's heart.

Before her it had been Damon, but Damon wasn't there, he was gone and she couldn't blame him. He had serious reasons for leaving and she understood that very well.

Those were the worst days of her life and that's why Bonnie was the way she was.

The only thing that kept her steady was her job, like now... it was the only thing that held her together and with what she could truly be herself.

Bonnie sighed again, taking in enough breath to continue.

"Later on... it was a tape recorder with the same old trash."

Bonnie looked at Damon. "That was almost two years ago and now... he sent me this."

She took the black envelope where the photographs were kept from her purse.

Bonnie handed it to Damon and he checked carefully.

Her hand shook with anger when she saw the photo of Kai smiling next to a girl, there was no need to ask who that girl was... Damon had already seen Robert in one of the photos.

The girl in the photo was her.

When Bonnie turned the photo, Damon read the dedication and he understood.

Damon met the nervous look in Bonnie's eyes.

As much as she tried to hide it, she had the same look of fear and uncertainty from many years ago.

Damon realized how distraught she was. He put the photographs aside and focused on her.

Taking her face in his hands, Damon repeated the same promise from years ago. But this time with the certainty of not making the same mistakes of the past.

"Listen to me well, Bonnie. I'm not going to let that bastard hurt you again. Did you hear? I won't allow it!"

He brought her to him and held her tightly.

Damon would never forget the day he found her lying on the ground bleeding and fighting for her life.

That day he earned the scar on his face, but it was worth it because he had enjoyed beating up that bastard.

Only one thing Damon regretted that day... that he couldn't kill Kai with his bare hands.

But knowing now what his duty was, he would do everything in his power and more to protect her from everything.

Emily felt a pang after leaving Bonnie. She tried to persuade her sister to go out together, but Bonnie refused, excusing herself with work, her sister was always very stubborn.

With the strange sensation disturbing her mind, Emily entered her house. Her grandmother was already asleep, early tomorrow she would talk to Sheila.

In her room, Emily held Bonnie's teddy bear. She had been sleeping with him for the past few days.

Before falling asleep, Lucy slipped like a shadow across the room.

"Can I sleep with you?"

Emily raised her head over her shoulder. "Are you not too old to sleep with someone?"

Lucy came in anyway carrying her pillow with her and jumped into bed.

"Could I say the same for you. Aren't you too old to sleep with a teddy bear?"

Emily smiled with her eyes closed as Lucy crawled between the sheets.

"Why are you sleeping with that?"

Emily answered without opening her eyes. "For the same reason that you are here with me."

Lucy smiled and snuggled against Emily's back.

"I miss her... do you think she's okay?"

Lucy was referring to her cousin, she knew Emily missed Bonnie just like she.

Emily turned around and rested her head in her hands.

"I see her a while ago... she was nervous ..."

Lucy raised one of her eyebrows. "I saw her this morning... she was happy... and... I could say... yes, maybe a little nervous..."

"Why would she be nervous?" Emily asked seriously.

Lucy moved a little and put her head on one of her hands.

"I asked her if she had had sex with Niklaus."

Lucy answered as if nothing and Emily rolled her eyes, only Lucy would ask something like that.

"Why did you ask her that? Are you crazy?"

Lucy didn't see it badly, Ella shrugged her shoulders and her big brown eyes widened without understanding Emily.

"He's her husband and he's hot. What's wrong? And even though it's an arranged marriage, at some point he and she will have to do it and I hope they will! I hope they both have wild and passionate sex. Because Bonnie badly needs something for get distracted, to de-stress and something that makes her think about something other than work. "

Lucy turned her face to Emily and her eyebrows shot up in cheeky suggestion. "...And that man has the face of knowing some tricks..."

Emily pulled out her pillow and punched Lucy across the face.

"You are crazy..."

Lucy returned the pillow to her in the same way.

"You saw how they kissed, nobody kisses like that if they don't feel something."

"That doesn't imply anything, Lu!"

"Yeah... probably, but I just want her to let go of the past and live her life for the fucking time." Lucy gave a big sigh. "I thought she would do it with André... but the idiot- " Lucy stopped in mid-sentence and something popped into her head.

She quickly sat up on the bed and Emily looked at her as if she had two heads.

"What?"

"André!"

"What... what about that idiot...?"

Lucy rolled her eyes, "André and Damon..." Lucy furrowed her eyebrows and she definitely couldn't get rid of that idea anymore. "They look alike... now with Damon wearing his hair like this... don't you think?"

Emily turned around and was not going to be part of this conversation.

"You are so slow... Lucy."

"What does that mean Mily?"

Emily spoke from her side of the bed. "It means yes! It was more than evident that Bonnie had feelings for him... and with André, that was obviously more than confirmed. She may not have realized it, but... anyway that was a long time ago."

Lucy was silent for a moment with her mouth open and complained.

"Why the hell didn't you tell me earlier?"

Emily rolled her eyes and didn't respond.

Lucy dropped her body onto the bed.

"Do you think she still...?"

"Go to sleep!"

Lucy said good night and snuggled back, she fell asleep much faster than Emily, who still had a bad feeling in her heart.

"Why was she so nervous?"

Klaus entered the mansion with his brothers behind him.

Mikael was waiting for any news, but Klaus only greeted his father and hurried up the stairs.

"Niklaus?"

Klaus stopped and turned to his father.

"Sorry father, I'm not in the mood right now. But Elijah will give you the details. Good night."

Klaus went straight to the bathroom, he needed an urgent shower. It had been a long time since he hadn't claimed a life, but that didn't mean anything to him. Regret was a thing of the past, he still remembered the first time he murdered someone.

A guy who shot his father in the back in an attempt to murder him. He was only thirteen when he shot. He didn't regret it, it was that man or his father. From that day on, Niklaus was received into the organization under the command of his older brother who taught him practically everything he knew.

Tonight Niklaus had to accept that he got a little out of control.

He had no intention of murdering again, but rage washed over him as he remembered the havoc his enemies wreaked.

All because of him and his bad decisions.

But having already had a name, Niklaus would not step aside. He was already more than involved.

To end this was his greatest wish, even if he had to finish off all the members of that family.

Niklaus let the water wash away any incriminating evidence for what happened tonight.

With his hands on the wall, he left his head half hanging and the water washed his body, waiting for the discomfort to disappear completely from him, but no.

When the distraction of the water didn't help normalize his thoughts. Niklaus closed the faucet and left the bathroom.

Running a towel over his face. Niklaus realized that his wife had not arrived. Taking a few seconds to meditate, he just sighed annoyed, he finished dressing and turned off the lights in the room.

Before having to deal with the annoyance of not being able to sleep, Niklaus made his way to his daughter's room.

When he opened the door. Hope slept hugging one of the porcelain dolls that Rebecca had brought her from one of her trips abroad.

Since the wedding the little girl hadn't interacted much with him. Niklaus knew that Hope was jealous of Bonnie. For a week Hope practically glared at her the few times Bonnie was around.

Niklaus looked at the watch on his wrist.

He wasn't impressed that Bonnie still hasn't made it to the house. That was another thing he already guessed, Bonnie was avoiding him and most likely everyone in the family.

For a week this had become her routine.

For seven days Bonnie came and went like a ghost.

The situation between him and her was becoming too childish a nuisance for Niklaus.

He hoped that the behavior that they were both giving each other would disappear soon, but apparently it would not be that simple and if Niklaus wanted their relationship to change, one of them had to take the first step.

Klaus sighed.

No doubt he would be the one to take that first step.

Damon didn't allow Bonnie to leave alone. He accompanied her with his car to the mansion.

When he was sure that Bonnie was inside and safe, Damon left.

Bonnie entered the property feeling more secure and calm.

The security staff welcomed her.

For a week they were the only ones who did.

Bonnie looked at her watch and it was past midnight. It was understandable that only they were awake.

To tell the truth Bonnie didn't know how long she was going to be able to do this. It wasn't that someone was forbidding her, but she knew that this behavior could bring her inconvenience in the future.

It was as if she was some kind of criminal every time she entered or left the mansion.

If only they could have a space for them away from everything, where things were easier for her and where she didn't have to share so much closeness with him. Where they wouldn't have to pretend they were something they weren't.

That was one of the things that Bonnie wanted, but until now Niklaus and his entire family did not think of the same thing, so that idea was automatically discarded for her.

She would have to spend the next several years living with people she was completely unfamiliar with.

Bonnie walked down the steps and entered smoothly. With the greatest of stealths she removed her heels and took the stairs two at a time.

Inside the huge room she shared with her husband, Bonnie hoped Niklaus was deep in sleep. So it was.

Leaning on the balls of her feet, she observed through the opening in the door that her husband's body was wrapped in the sheets.

After that, she let out a long, soft breath.

Yes... she knew acting this way was stupid, but things were too quick to get used to and adapting to the change was always a bit difficult for her.

Bonnie closed her eyes.

The only thing she appreciated was the huge extra space in the room.

Size was an asset to her. The area is divided by a beautiful fireplace. On one side the bedroom, on the other a living room decorated with ample furniture and a beautiful desk.

The dressing room and bathroom were equally lush.

But it was in the spacious living room where the beautiful desk was located that Bonnie spent her most sleepless time.

There she was able to continue working without interruptions and without disturbing.

Living together was very difficult for her, Bonnie still had trouble adjusting and socializing. And after what happened at her wedding she was just more defensive with Niklaus.

From that day on, she and he exchanged only the necessary words.

Bonnie hadn't even slept in the same bed with him by choice. Only a couple of times that strangely she woke up at dawn next to him.

She knew that Niklaus was responsible for her appearing in bed, because she didn't remember how she got there.

It only happened twice and the second time it happened was three days ago.

It was ridiculous, but in all that time Bonnie hadn't slept the required hours. And she just didn't because she wasn't sleepy. It had been an automatic thing for her when she was going through some stress.

Her body got used to doing this routine somehow.

Of course it was unhealthy and Bonnie didn't know how much longer she could take it, but she didn't care.

Although now the wakefulness was practically taking its toll on her body. Bonnie felt completely tired, but the lack of sleep was something she couldn't control, she wasn't sleepy and she didn't sleep, period.

Putting her physical exhaustion aside, she carefully entered the bathroom and locked the door.

Tonight she would not sleep. So she hoped.

There were so many things that attacked his mind.

Bonnie took a deep breath and the first thing she thought about was her father.

She pulled the photo out of her bag and looked at it.

The last memory of her father was seeing him lying on the ground with Kai on top of him as flames raged throughout their home.

Before that Bonnie didn't remember anything else.

The images were always confusing when trying to remember what happened that day.

She didn't remember how it all started... just that her father was nervous and wanted to get out fast. But time played an important role... because now thinking about it, if that day they had left on time... maybe none of that would have happened and... Maybe her father would be alive.

Bonnie frowned. She vaguely remembered the fight between her father and that monster, she remembered feeling fear...

A fear that caused her to pee in her pants.

Fear completely paralyzed her when she saw Kai drive a knife into her father's body.

Bonnie did nothing to help Robert, but...

How was a girl as young as eleven going to help who was completely terrified?

A tear slid down her cheeks.

Among her memories, the one that stood out the most was the voice of her father yelling at her.

Robert's voice was the only thing that pulled Bonnie out of that catatonic state.

Run...

Robert screamed several times...

Run...

And without looking back, Bonnie ran and ran and ran into the huge backyard of her house that led to a swamp.

Robert had shown her the correct places to hide if something happened. And although Bonnie didn't understand the magnitude of the situation at the time, she memorized each hideout well.

When she ran, she heard Kai's screams, for her to stop and that made her run more because Bonnie knew he would go after her.

For two days she was hidden holding her teddy bear until someone she trusted found her and after some paperwork, Bonnie finally arrived at her new home, with her grandmother, sister and cousin.

That's when she went from being a Hopkins to a Bennett.

Bonnie wiped away her tears and took a deep breath.

She was no longer that little girl who ran in fear and he couldn't do anything against her anymore... right?

A few seconds later she remembered something else.

The only thing Bonnie had saved from that day was her teddy bear, the one her mother left her the day she left.

That bear was kept in her old room, she hadn't brought it with her, but she would look for it tomorrow. yes...

Bonnie blinked a little and preferred to forget all the bitterness, she concentrated on her father, and only then she could smile because Bonnie knew that her father was always a good man despite all the lies and slander that were slandered against him.

She untied her hair and let it fall down her back, she kissed the photo and put it back in her bag.

From now on she would treasure that photo as a treasure.

Her thoughts changed when she began to undress and without warning someone invaded her mind with force, someone she had been uselessly blocking for the past few days...

Niklaus...

Bonnie closed her eyes, she didn't want to think about him, because thinking about him was exactly thinking about when they both kissed and she didn't want to think about that first kiss...

The kiss that she had secretly liked. Because practically that maybe was the first kiss that Bonnie had really enjoyed.

She hadn't even felt that warmth with André, but all of that was ruined with the second kiss and that was reason enough not to think about that stupid kiss again... or him...

Bonnie frowned, refusing to think about Niklaus and someone else slipped into her mind.

Hope...

She winced with her eyes closed.

Bonnie knew Hope had a certain apathy towards her.

The few times they had exchanged glances, Hope literally looked at her with rage. And that was worse than having to deal with Niklaus.

Bonnie had nothing against the little girl, but she didn't want to do anything to try to improve the relationship. Bonnie just didn't want to get too involved with her or anyone else in that family.

This whole family... the grimace was more expressive.

No...

Her job... yeah... better think about that.

There was a lot of work to do in the office and it was easy for Bonnie to clear her mind by putting all her concentration on her new projects.

But even though she was excited to start something new and to think about the direction she was about to embark on, all her thoughts returned to the starting point.

Niklaus...

Now with the new project they would undertake, she would have to spend more time with him. Got damn.

Bonnie stepped into the shower and let the water wash away all her worries.

Her body trembled as she came into direct contact with the low temperature of the water.

Cold water always helped her control her anxiety.

Beneath the shower, Bonnie put her hands to her face and concentrated on her conversation with Damon.

Talking to Damon tonight really helped her feel better.

Bonnie felt safe, more confident and that led her to think in the following way.

She was the sum of all her decisions... not of circumstances. How... What... Where she wanted to be, everything depended on her.

If she wanted something good to happen in her life, she would have to put the past behind her and give herself a chance to be happy regardless of the circumstances, she had to be stronger.

She sighed clinging to those thoughts and her mind betrayed her with a damn... "But"

But... even if everything was as she wanted... her life had been marked in the worst way.

Bonnie swallowed the thick saliva that had collected in her mouth.

Her fingers began to trace her naked body.

Only she could see and feel all the scars that marked her skin, the scars that had also marked her heart.

Once again Bonnie touched the scar under her left breast, felt a slight current as she pressed more with her fingers.

There was still some pain in that area.

Her fingers left that part of her body and went down until they met the slightly larger groove, just below her ribs, on her left side, the incision that left her punctured lung...

She felt a strange tingle as she took a deep breath.

Bonnie didn't know if the pain was a mental reaction or if it was actually physical pain.

But more painful for her was touching another part of her body.

Bonnie lowered her fingers with her eyes closed, gently examining, until her fingers brushed just over her belly.

The pain spread, and Bonnie examined with her hands the scars that Kai had left not only on her skin but also on her soul.

Six stabs almost in the same place, all with a single purpose that this man convinced himself to fulfill.

Kai had taken so much from her...

Bonnie opened her eyes and her tears mixed with the cold water.

She could not have children... that was what he wanted for her, that monster had no right and yet life gave him that power.

Six stabs one by one determined her sad fate.

The blade of the knife she could still feel it sinking into her skin.

The cold steel piercing her flesh.

A chill ran through her body at the thought of it.

Kai's attack caused irreversible damage.

Her uterus was brutally torn apart, her ovaries were largely destroyed. Bonnie only had a quarter of her right ovary.

Bonnie thought that, despite the attack that nearly left her lifeless, maybe she still had a chance to have a child.

Nobody knew of her wishes to want to be a mother one day.

But the doctors forced her to give up those ideas.

Bonnie continued to touch her belly as she remembered being in a doctor's office listening to her sad reality.

A few months ago she visited an OB / GYN to see if there was a possibility in the future, but no.

"I'm sorry Miss Bennett, your medical condition makes it impossible. I can't give you much hope that you can get pregnant. Not even with fertility methods."

"And if that were to happen, it would be dangerous to maintain a stable pregnancy. The size of your uterus is a huge inconvenience because it was significantly reduced. I imagine it was to control the bleeding caused by the attack."

"Therefore... it would be difficult to carry a pregnancy to term."

"Just a miracle..."

That had been the final diagnosis for her.

A miracle...

But Bonnie didn't believe in miracles.

Not after everything that had happened to her.

Perhaps this was part of a punishment. But what had she done so wrong in her other life to be punished in this way?

Bonnie ducked down slowly, dropping her face into her hands as her tears trickled down the drain.

How many times had she cried for the same thing and yet that little pain still ached inside her.

Hearing the water from the shower, Niklaus rolled over to prop his back on the pillows, his arms he pulled back and his head rested on his hands.

He was always awake.

Every night he listened to the faint sound of her computer keys after she came out of the bathroom after taking her long shower.

The smell of her shampoo and soap was always permeated in the air, but after a while the smells were overwhelmed by the perfume she used.

tuberose flowers...

And that smell was the one that was now on his pillows.

It was enough that Bonnie slept twice in his bed for her natural scent to permeate the pillows and sheets.

She had slept next to him twice.

The first night was when Niklaus only got up out of curiosity after the strange silence and to his surprise he found the stubborn woman completely asleep, sitting on the chair in an uncomfortable position.

At first Niklaus doubted if he should do something, even he turned around and lay down again, but the remorse of seeing her like this was greater, so he with a sigh of frustration got up again, walked to the desk in the hope of not wake her up, and Niklaus just carefully lifted his wife's small body and laid her on his bed.

Although Klaus took the liberty of taking her to bed so she could rest better. He never noticed when the stubborn woman woke up.

His wife always went out much earlier, even when the sun wasn't even up.

This strange interaction between the two was beginning to make him uncomfortable, and Niklaus suspected that Bonnie felt the same way as him.

But the most irritating of all was her smell, that smell was becoming a damn distraction, because to tell the truth he liked the way she smelled.

Niklaus sighed with his eyes closed.

He was sure that Bonnie practically hated him, her silence said more than that.

But he had to find a quick solution.

The last conversation with Esther and his father was very latent.

Niklaus had to be smart if he wanted to get good results.

One third of the Bennett Group shares had already been transferred to his name.

According to Esther, things could move forward successfully, since she herself was sure that she had bought the loyalty of someone who could exert great influence within the Bennett corporation and play a fundamental role in the decisions of the directors.

His father, on the other hand, was beginning to pressure him to assume him role as a good husband. It was not to be expected that Mikael would bet that the marriage would consolidate and the two families would merge into one.

So having his father's advice at his back was being a bit tedious and perhaps a bit accurate.

Niklaus gave his father credit for one thing, he had to convince others that he and Bonnie were a happy couple.

Unfortunately his past actions did not help Niklaus at all. And learning that Damon would be his wife's new bodyguard didn't please him very much.

Niklaus had yet to find out anything about Bonnie's past with the ex-cop.

That maybe had to do with his peculiar insomnia, that and not having talked to Camille.

That conversation with her was very pending.

The anger Niklaus felt a week ago was able to vent to Marcel, but he nevertheless needed to immediately speak to Camille regarding Bonnie.

Niklaus hadn't forgotten what Bonnie mentioned and he just hoped Camille hadn't kept something important from him about her.

There were many things on his mind.

But first things first, improve him relationship with the woman in him bathroom. His wife.

Niklaus sighed.

He had made up his mind and hoped everything would turn out the way he wanted.

With that, he closed his eyes and waited for Bonnie to fall asleep this time.

That was what Niklaus had been unconsciously wishing for three nights.

That Bonnie to fall asleep so he could carry her in his arms and lay her down on the bed next to him.

The cell was opened and the Parker family attorney entered.

Agustín Salazar, a man in his sixties made his way and proceeded to deliver the information.

"From now on, Joshua has restricted all your exits. It is strictly forbidden for you to leave this place and to maintain contact with that woman. If you do not agree to obey your father, he himself will have you transferred and locked up for life in a true high security prison. But if you comply with what he asks, you can be free in a few years. Your father does not want to repeat the message he sent you a few weeks ago, however I do. Do not start a war for a simple whim, and less for a woman, the Mikaelson clan is willing to respond if you do something against her. I suggest that your obsessive behavior be focused on someone else."

Kai clenched his knuckles, he hated the fat old man.

Agustín approached without having a bit of fear of him.

The old man was used to his uncontrolled outbursts.

Agustin had been one of the lawyers who worked to advocate for Kai, cleaning up each of his disasters.

"You're not a damn child anymore, Malachai... behave like a little man and listen to your father, and to be honest, I'm already tired of cleaning up your shit. I was very happy to hear that this woman got married."

With a nasty laugh the old lawyer mocked Kai.

"I'm sorry... but I can't imagine what you must be feeling. But don't worry about that, there are many women in this world with whom you can share your aberrations..."

Agustín straightened up and patted her face.

"Your power within this place ends as of today. Be warned! I hope I don't have to come to this shitty pen again."

Agustin complained in disgust looking around the place and left without waiting for any response from Kai.

Sitting with his hands clasped on the table, Malachai Parker seemed the calmest and most sensible man of all, but inside he was concocting all his plans with horror.

I hope you liked it. Sorry if it was not to your liking.

Bonnie has been through a lot and guilt and fear have kept her from being who she really is. Only her work has kept her sane and that is where everything can evolve with Klaus, since she will have to work with him like it or not on the new project that will merge the two companies.

I will talk about that in the next chapter. I still have nothing written, but I'll think of something. I know the plot is slow, but as I said from the beginning it is a family story full of drama and tragedy. Hence the genre.

Thanks for reading and leaving a review. I really appreciate it very much. Let me know if you liked this. And plz be nice to me! Thx!

Thank you!
