CHAPTER 9: THE MIRROR.
(POV: Mysterious Narrator.)
As Gordon and Douglas were within the cave that Thomas, Lady and Duck's group were camping out at, Edward and Henry were busily walking briskly through the tunnel that they picked.
(POV: Edward.)
"Be careful, Henry!" I said to my friend. "There might be traps within these tunnels."
"Right." He replied as we then continued on.
We went on like this for some time, until we reached a massive chamber. It was covered in piles of gold coins and many kinds of gems that were about 4 feet high. We were very much jaw dropped by this discovery.
"Whoa! look at all of that treasure, Edward."
"I know. there's like billions of pounds worth here."
"Maybe even quadrillions."
"Yeah, maybe even that, or way more."
"Yeah."
Upon realizing that we were starting to lose track, we both shook our heads to redirect our attention to the matter at hand.
"Ok, enough looking at that gold." I said to Henry. "We need to see if Malstorm is here."
"Right!" He replied as we then began our search.
Looking through the piles of gold, the inside of chests, and under gems, I tried to see if I could spot ANYTHING that resembled a sword. But alas, I had to give up. As I then rested on one of the piles of gold coins, Henry walked up and sat down next to me, attempting to catch his breath.
"Find anything?" I asked.
"Well, a lot of things." He replied. "But mostly being what we already saw."
I sighed in frustration as I took in the answer.
"Ok, so, did you find anything, besides these golden coins, jewels and pearls?"
Henry lowered his head, and gave an expression of deep thought, before saying anything else.
"Actually..." He then replied. "Yeah. I did."
I perked up excitedly, hoping it was Malstorm, but my mood instantly changed when Henry revealed his finding to me.
"A mirror, Henry? You found a mirror!"
"Uh... yeah."
I sighed in frustration again as I then proceeded to facepalm. Though it was a very splendid and nice looking mirror, Henry's find is not what I wanted to see right now, for how little time we have to spend. We needed to focus on the priorities at hand, which of course are find Malstorm and our friends. As I then sighed, I looked towards Henry and felt ready to leave. I was DONE with being in this sector.
"Ah well. at least we tried. Well, no point in staying here longer. Come on, Henry!"
"But, Edward, Just look."
I stopped and turned around to face the mirror.
"At what? My reflection?"
"Just watch."
So, I did, and was yet struck with an interesting discovery. For you see, when Henry outstretched his hand towards the mirror's glass, instead of touching it, his hand went through it as if it was water.
"Whoa." I remarked. "That is certainly something, Henry."
"Yes It is." He replied. "And what's more is that it appears that it feels warmer when I stick my hand through here."
"Warmer?"
"Yeah. Try it."
So I did, and it did indeed feel warmer wherever I was was reaching towards. As I then looked upward at the top of the mirror's frame, I saw a familiar crest that was engraved into it.
"Hang on!" I exclaimed. "That's the crest for the Royal Magicborn Family. I wonder... hmm..."
I thought about WHY the crest of the Allcrofts were there, on the mirror's frame. Then as the info that I previously saw and felt came into my mind, it was then did I figure out the significance of this mirror.
"What are you thinking about Edward?" Henry then quizzed.
"Henry.." I replied. "Hoping that my prediction was right. "I think we should step through this mirror."
"Wait?! What?! Are you nuts?!"
"Maybe. Maybe not. But, yet again, I thought you were that way for showing me this mirror."
"Fair point." Henry then sighed. "Alright then, what are we waiting for?"
"That's more like it." I replied back. "Come on."
And so with that, Henry and I stepped through the mirror's glass. We were only seeing the silvery matter for just a second, when a familiar place started to appear before our eyes.
"The Armory in the Royal Magicborn Palace?" Henry then exclaimed. "The mirror brought us here?"
"Well, it seems that way." I replied. "I mean with the fact that it had the Allcrofts's crest, it wouldn't be surprising that it would have a connection to them in one way or another. Either way..." I then continued. "I think we should count our lucky stars that it didn't bring us to a Volcano."
"Oh yeah." Henry then chuckled. "That would be bad. Very bad indeed."
"Yeah." I replied. "Anyway, I guess we found the way out of the realm."
"Yup." Henry said in response. "Say Edward..." He then went on. "While we're here, why don't we get some backup, to help us find the rest of our friends?"
I smiled as I heard Henry's suggestion.
"That would be a very wise decision, old friend."
"That it is."
And with that, Henry and I darted off to go find some assistance, so they could help us find our friends.
