With that, Harry gave Sirius a hug, and walked back to his dormitory, mentally preparing himself to wear robes without anything else underneath from now on.
Getting back to the dormitory, Harry put his things on the bed, before grabbing one of the robes and heading to the bathroom to change. After putting it on, he turned around in front of the mirror multiple times, thinking to himself how odd it was to not wear anything but underwear underneath it. Feeling extremely tempted to wear his muggle clothes underneath it, he resisted it, telling himself that Sirius said that wizards did not wear anything under them.
He exited the bathroom, sighing to himself, and went to pack the rest of his clothes away, admiring the detail on the formal robes, happy that for the first time in his life, he had new clothes.
Just then, Neville entered the dormitory, heading towards his bed. Seeing him and remembering that Sirius had mentioned that Neville was his godbrother, he said, "Hi Neville."
Surprised that Harry had said hi to him, Neville paused and turned, smiling back and softly saying, "Hi Harry."
Deciding that it would be best to muster his courage and get over with it, Harry asked, "Neville, did you know your mother was my godmother and my mother was your godmother?"
"Yes, of course. Why?" Neville asked, confused about why Harry would suddenly ask about it after they had shared a dormitory for three years.
Considering whether to tell Neville about Sirius, Harry waved Neville over, the both of them settling onto his bed.
"Neville, if I tell you something, do you promise not to tell anyone?"
"Yes."
Deciding that he could trust Neville, Harry told him the whole story about Sirius and everything that he and Sirius had done, from meeting him at the Whomping Willow to going to Gringotts, though he left out the part about claiming the heir rings of the other houses besides the Potter house.
After he finished, Neville smiled and nodded, telling Harry, "Yes, I knew you were my godbrother. My grandmother has told it to me ever since I was young. I thought you knew all along too so I never bothered asking or telling you about it since I thought that the reason you didn't mention it was because you didn't think it was important and you seemed to have better friends than I could be."
"Neville, I want to be your friend. Let's be friends from now on?"
"Yes," Neville said, smiling happily, before asking, "Harry, do you need help with learning about wizarding traditions and all? Since you said that you didn't know about being Heir Potter until now."
"Yes, I do. Sirius said he'll teach me over the holidays, but it would be nice to have someone my age to talk about it with."
"You can talk about it with me. My grandmother has been teaching me about wizarding traditions since I was quite young. I can tell you about things that you're not sure about."
"Thank you. There's one thing…"
"What is it?"
"Does it not feel awkward not wearing anything but your underwear underneath your robes?" Harry asked, pointing at the robes Neville was wearing, which was in a similar style as his.
"No. I've been wearing robes like this for as long as I can remember. You've never worn robes like this before?"
"No, I haven't."
"Don't worry, you'll probably get used to it soon. I always wondered why you always wore those muggle clothes that seemed so baggy instead of robes that most of us wear."
Blushing furiously, Harry explained that it was because he had not known that wizards wore robes everywhere and that he thought that wizards wear muggle clothes or wore them underneath their robes too since the Hogwarts robes are open at the front and they all had to wear muggle clothes underneath them.
Laughing, Neville asked, "Do you know about the alliance between the houses in the High Council of the Wizengmot?"
"A little. I know about the Most Ancient and Noble Houses and I saw on one of the pieces of parchment at Gringotts something about an alliance of the High Council of the Wizengamot. What's it about?"
"It's an alliance between all the five remaining houses in the High Council of the Wizengamot. Other than my house, there's your house, House Black, Bones, and Greengrass. Susan Bones and Daphne Greengrass are in the same year as us. If you want to, I can set up a meeting for the four of us so you can get to know them. I know that the four of us used to play when we were babies but none of us can really remember it, so I can reintroduce you to them. We spend quite a bit of time together when the adults discuss politics or during parties and all since the circles we are in are very similar."
"Oh, okay. I guess I wouldn't mind meeting them. Are they nice?"
"Yes, Susan is in Hufflepuff and Daphne is in Slytherin. We're all in different houses but we get along well, especially since our families have known each other and have been working together for such a long time. In fact, I think Sirius will probably be setting up a meeting both as Lord Black and as the guardian of you, Heir Potter, to discuss political matters with our families. You'll get to meet us there as well and other than that, you'll most likely start going to the parties so we'll see each other quite a bit. To be honest, amongst all the children of the houses on the Wizengamot, Susan and Daphne are some of the nicer and more friendly ones."
"Well, when can I meet them then?"
"I'll ask them and tell them that you would like to meet up and set up a casual meeting for the four of us. Is that alright?"
"Yes, thank you Neville!"
With that, they went on to discuss more casual things, only stopping when they realised it was time for dinner, and Harry left to find Hermione and Ron, who had finally been released from the Hospital Wing, while Neville headed to the great hall for dinner first. Both of them left with smiles on their faces, Harry glad that he had made a new friend that seemed to be so knowledgeable on all those things he had to learn, and Neville happy that he had finally talked to Harry and made a new friend, something that he did not have many of, especially in Gryffindor since the other boys in the dormitory did not really talk to him.
The next morning, Harry woke up bright and early, changing into the formal robes that Sirius had bought for him. As he was about to leave to grab an early breakfast then meet Sirius at Remus' office, the other boys started waking up to prepare for school since it was a Monday.
"Hey, Harry! What's with you? Suddenly wearing robes all the time, and now this fancy robe instead of your uniform. Did you forget that there's school today?" Ron asked in his usual callous manner.
"I'm going with Sirius to the Wizengamot."
"You're skipping school? Why do you get to do that? Oh, and where were you yesterday? I forgot to ask you yesterday but I couldn't find you after I was released from the Hospital Wing."
"I have to go to the Wizengamot to settle some things. I don't really know much. And yesterday, I went to Gringotts with Sirius." Harry said, trying to avoid Ron's questions and give as little information as possible.
With that, Ron grunted and after waving goodbye to the rest of the boys in the dormitory, Harry left, heading towards the great hall. After finishing a quick yet hearty breakfast, Harry rushed to Remus' office to meet Sirius, who gave him a once over, before nodding approvingly and telling Harry how to floo to the Ministry of Magic, where the Wizengamot session would be held.
Sirius led Harry through the hallways of the Ministry and into a lift, where they took the lift to the floor where the Wizengamot session would be held. As they were about to enter the chambers of the Wizengamot, Dumbledore approached them, with his usual grandfatherly smile.
"Sirius, why did you bring Harry here? I thought I already told you that it would not be a good idea to bring him here."
"He is my magical and legal guardian as of yesterday when it was registered with the ministry so I will decide whether to bring him or not and you have no say about it."
"But he's supposed to be in school."
"This Wizengamot session is more important than that, and you yourself know that, so don't try to deny it."
"Besides that, Sirius, why are you filing an investigation against the Dursleys? Where will Harry stay over the summer?"
"With me of course. Where else? And you better not say that it is safer for him at the Dursleys! They abuse him and though he may be safe from the outside, which is not even guaranteed since no one knows much about the type of blood wards Harry has when he stays with the Dursleys, he is definitely not safe from the inside. He will be much safer with me, at my ancestral manor, and the wards around the houses, especially the ancestral manors of Most Ancient and Noble Houses are as strong as, if not stronger than those of Hogwarts. If you don't stop bothering me about it, I won't just file an investigation against the Dursleys for abusing Harry, but I'll file one against you as well, for neglect! The only reason I'm not doing that is because you hold too many important roles in our society and I don't want the dark families to have a chance to get those positions under their control by appointing one of themselves to those roles!" Sirius shouted in as soft of a voice as possible, not wanting to attract the attention of the countless other people around them.
Angrily, Sirius held Harry's hand and led him away, leaving a shocked Dumbledore, who had never had anyone speak to him in that manner before, behind.
Sirius led Harry into the large Wizengamot chamber, which was in the shape of a semicircle and had many roles of seats around the center where there was a stage with three seats, one for the Chief Warlock, another for the scribe who would take down everything that happened during the session, and the last left empty for whoever would sit there depending on what the occasion required. Right at the front of the Wizengamot was a row of ten seats, reserved for the High Council of the Wizengamot, the Most Noble and Ancient Houses, although only five of them were currently occupied. To the left and right were seats for the Minister and other high ranking ministry staff, and the rest of the Wizengamot had seats of the Ancient and Noble Houses, Ancient Houses, and so on, depending on their rank, with those who had seats from receiving an Order of Merlin near the top, with the press and any others who might be required at the Wizengamot session, including other Ministry workers, at the very top.
Harry and Sirius headed towards the section reserved for the High Council of the Wizengamot, where they met Lord Gerald Greengrass, Regent Augusta Longbottom, Neville's grandmother, and Madam Bones, who was also Lady Amelia Bones. They greeted the three of them and Sirius introduced them to Harry, who could not remember meeting Gerald Greengrass or Augusta Longbottom before since he was too young to remember, and Sirius joined in their discussion about what would be happening later, with Harry standing at the side and listening.
After a while, as they were discussing and agreeing on what to do and say during certain parts of the Wizengamot session that would affect Harry and Sirius, the gong sounded, signalling the start of the Wizengamot session.
They headed back to their seats, with Sirius telling Harry to sit in the Potter seat while he sat in the Black seat, which were conveniently located beside each other.
Dumbledore headed to the podium, casting a Sonorus charm and stating, "Today's Wizengamot session has started. Aurors, please seal the doors."
