"So how was the appointment on Thursday?" Jack asked his mother in law as he chopped some carrots , they had become close. They talked almost every week, and were actually friends, Ruth confessing to him that he was her favourite son in law, not that it was any secret she could barely tolerate Johnny. It was the 23 of December, Ianto, Maya and Jack had arrived that morning at Ruth's for Christmas. Maya was playing with Mica who was more than happy to 'babysit' her cousin, David and Johnny we're playing futbol with some neighbours, Rhiannon went out last minute shopping, Ianto was getting some work done and on the phone, and Jack was helping Ruth cook.

"Great, the GP said I'm doing wonderful" she was marinating the meat "considering I'm almost 80"

"Take it from me you look great" Jack said as he washed the chopping board.

"Oh I forgot to ask you" she said lowering her voice "how is you know what going?" Just as Jack was going to respond Ianto poke his head into the kitchen.

"What are you guys talking about?" He asked

"Not much" His mother responded " just my age"

"Oh, anyway" Ianto said "Jack can I talk to you?"

"Sure" Jack said "what's up? Is something wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong" Ianto reassure him "I just need to tell you something in private" Then led Jack into his father's old study now the 'cousins room' a big room with a bunk bed and a normal bed were the children slept, Jack sat down on a bed as Ianto close the door ' so I just got off the phone with the adoption agency and there is a mother who picked us."

"Are you serious" Jack could not contain his tears of Joy "we are getting a baby?"

"We are getting a baby!" Confirmed Ianto siting by his husband "she is six months pregnant so we are going to have a baby around March" Kissing Jack.

"So shall we talk to Maya now?" Ask Jack after a while

"I was thinking we take her to the park tomorrow have some hot chocolate and have a heart to heart with her" proposed Ianto.

"Great Idea" Jack agreed " we could tell everyone else at Christmas dinner"

"Yeah, why not" Ianto said kissing him again "you have no idea how much I love you"

"I could say the same" Jack said standing up and going back to the kitchen with a big smile on his face.

Next day the they took Maya to the park, to have the perfect family day, they played for two hours straight, mostly Jack and Ianto chaised maya around, after a while they went and brought hot chocolates and sat down on a bench looking at the pond.

" Maya" Ianto started "have you ever wanted a sibling?" He asked the seven year old.

"Yes" Maya said " I really want one but Conny at school said I could not have one because you and mummy were not together"

"Oh honey" Jack said "that's not true, you can have a sibling, one that you don't see all the time, but still your sibling"

"What Dad is trying to say" Ianto gave Jack a look "is that he and I are having a baby"

"How?" Asked Maya, and Ianto explained the process of adoption, when he finished she asked "soo I don't get to see the baby everyday?"

"No" Jack explained " they are going to live with us"

"Aww" Maya said and then asked a bunch more questions.

"Maya" Jack said after answering all her questions "You know that with the baby everything is going to change, but your tad and I love you so so much and that is never going to change"

"One last thing " Ianto said as they walked home " dad and me want to be the ones who tell the family, so we are going to need you to not say anything about the baby until after Christmas. Ok" Maya just nodded and pretended to zip her lips shut.

The whole family was sitting in the sitting room by the tree, eating Christmas pudding. Johnny and Rhiannon we're sitting on the sofa, The kids were on the floor David and Mica on their phones, and Maya playing with her presents, Ruth was sitting in her arm chair and Ianto was sitting next to Jack with his head on Jack shoulder. After a while of chatting about trivial things like aunt Betty's new house and discussing family drama.

"Well we have some pretty exiting news" Jack said in an opening " about six months ago we had a conversation where we decided to adopt a baby, so Ianto, as amazing as he is did all the paperwork, and contacted an agency. And on Monday he got a call. Maya is going to be a big sister".
