It was a late night, and all that was going on was the X-Tornado flying through the sky.
"The X-Tornado seems to be running great since we installed the Chaos Emerald!" Tails smiled brightly. "This has to be just about the smoothest flight I've ever been on! Hu?" He gasped suddenly, looking at the Chaos Emerald in front of him.
Something was making the emerald glow brighter than ever.
"I think it's picked up on something!" Tails said nervously. The X Tornado suddenly started to do some jerky movements.
"I can't control it!" Tails cried. The X-Tornado zoomed over some trees, and seemed to be going crazier by the minute.
"Something's pulling us off course!" Tails said. He looked up to see a baseball stadium in front of him.
"Maybe it's another Chaos Emerald!" He gasped. The X Tornado suddenly took a dive, and Tails yelped. As he got near the stadium, he saw someone waving his arms and yelling, "STOP! STOP!"
The X-Tornado was so out of control that it nearly ran the guy over.
"I'd better get down there!" Tails grunted.
The guy looked up, surprise written in his eyes.
...
Soon, Tails was walking down a deep entrance to a new building that he's never been in before. He looked up to see stairs and a bright light up ahead.
After walking up the stairs, Tails gaped in surprise at the stadium.
"WOW!" He exclaimed. It was one of the most amazing places he's ever seen! His two tails twitched behind him in excitement, and using the two tails, he flew up and surveyed the scene.
He continued walking until he saw the man from earlier trying to start some kind of machine.
"Excuse me, sir." Tails said to him. The man didn't seem to hear. Tails tried again. "HELLO! You."
The man looked so startled that he hid behind the machine. "KEEP AWAY!" He cried.
"Sorry. I was just in my plane and the Chaos Emerald started glowing and..." He realized he was saying a little too much than he was supposed to, and he decided to go with: "Don't worry, mister. I won't hurt you!"
...
Later, Tails and the manager were talking. "It was some story, little fella. Never would've guessed that it was you flying that plane up there."
"I'm sorry if I frightened you just now, sir." Tails said, looking sorry. "I've never seen a stadium as pretty as this before! You know, the grass is actually glowing!"
"Thanks for the compliment." the man smiled. "Lots of folks say that the turf here at Diamond Square is the best in the world, which makes me happy because I've been the groundskeeper here at Diamond for about 30 years."
"Thirty years?" Tails asked, pretty impressed.
"You bet." The man smiled. "Only I'm afraid that today is my last day at the old place. You see, the Diamond's manager wants to build an indoor stadium with artificial turf, so this place is gonna be demolished."
He looked out into the sky, sadness written on his face. "I tell you, leaving this place behind feels like an end of the era." He turned to Tails. "But by the way, little fella, did you say something about an emerald?"
"Yeah." Tails reached into his one of his tails and pulled out a sparkly green Chaos Emerald. "See, I'm looking for one that looks just like this. It's called a Chaos Emerald."
"A what?" The manager looked confused. He dug into his pocket and pulled out a crystal blue emerald. "Would this be what you're looking for?"
Tail's eyes widened. "AH, A CHAOS EMERALD!" He gasped, shocked.
"I saw it laying in the dumpster a couple of nights ago." the manager continued. "Wasn't sure what it was."
Suddenly, both emeralds started glowing, and a bright light shot high into the sky.
People everywhere were shocked about the sudden light that came out of nowhere.
Outside the village, a familiar red echidna, looked towards the bright light.
"I know that light." Knuckles said.
It was light of the Chaos Emeralds.
"Dr. Eggman, you might wanna look at this, sir." Decoe said, pointing to the light that the Chaos Emeralds were creating.
"What is that light?!" Eggman asked, startled at the sight.
"It appears to be coming from the baseball stadium."
"A stadium, you say?" Eggman asked. "Fascinating." He walked over to a drawer and pulled out a baseball. "I have a feeling there's an Emerald out at the diamond." He smirked.
...
At home, Ella was instructing Chris and Penny's new friends on what types of forks and knifes and spoons to use during meal time. Kat was spending the night, so she was there as well.
"Let's start with our first course," Ella smiled. "Which knife and fork should we use?"
"Umm.." Amy looked at the knives and forks before she chose the proper ones. "These!" She smiled, picking them up and showing them to Ella. Blaze, Cream, and Cheese held up theirs. The male mobians looked down at their plates and picked up the forks and knives the same way the girls did. Ella nodded in satisfaction.
"Right, you're such smart children!" Ella smiled. "And what good manners!"
"I don't see why we have to learn all this etiquette baloney in the first place." Sonic said to Penny, taking a bite out of his apple. Penny looked down at him, and replied: "Mom says that it's important to learn good manners so we can eat properly."
"Penny's right." Chris said on the girl's right side.
"It's good to learn manners." Kat smiled at the blue hedgehog. Hiro, who sat beside Kat, nodded in agreement.
"Especially if we need to do something like this out of the house." The red wolf said, adjusting his glasses.
"Well, I never learned anything about manners and I've been eating my whole life." Sonic pointed out.
Mr. Tanaka leaned in between Sonic and Penny, looking sternly at Sonic. "Sonic, kindly use your fruit knife."
"I wonder what's keeping Tails." Chuck wondered as he continued to dig in his food. "He should be back by now."
Suddenly, the familiar sounds of a robot laughing filled the air. Bokkun flew through the window and floated in the air, holding his screen TV. "Sorry, I didn't know it was meal time, but Dr. Eggman's got a really important message for you!" He smiled cheekily.
"Ugh, not again." Sonic groaned, hopping in front of Penny and glaring at the robot.
"What are you doing here?!" Kat asked, quickly dashing under the table and glaring at the robot.
"How dare you barge in on us like this?" Mr. Tanaka growled, pointing his finger accusingly at the little robot. "You need to learn some manners."
"Eh, that's what you say." Bokkun said, a little too pridefully. The screen turned on, showing Eggman's menacing face on the screen. "Good evening, Sonic, Silver. I suggest you take a look out of your window."
"Window?" Sonic and Silver looked at each other, and glanced out. They opened the window, and were shocked to see the huge light that was coming from the stadium. Chris, Grandpa, Kat, and Penny joined them. They yelped in shock.
"What is that?" Kat asked.
"That light is coming from the Chaos Emerald!" Cream cried.
"Is she right?" Penny asked Sonic.
"You're half right, Cream." The blue hedgehog said. Silver looked at Sonic. "Does that mean...
"But that's not just one Chaos Emerald." Sonic continued, looking at his partner in shock.
"Correct." Eggman smirked on the TV. "We both want those emeralds, but why not be good sports about it? That's why I suggest we suit up and meet me over at..." He suddenly changed into a baseball uniform and smiled. "...the Diamond Stadium."
"Diamond Stadium?" Mr. Tanaka asked.
"What for?" Chuck added.
"I challenge you and your friends to a game of winner-take-all baseball." Eggman smirked. He laughed evilly.
Sonic just stood in front of Penny, growling in frustration.
"You guys must be a little rusty, so how about a good batting practice?" The annoying little robot asked. He placed his screen TV and took out a bat.
"Uh-oh." Sonic sweat dropped.
"TAKE COVER!" Kat cried as Bokkun started throwing balls all over the place. Penny hid behind Sonic and yelped in shock as the balls kept hurling out at them.
That's when Ella grabbed Bokkun by the head, and scolded: "You got a decent swing but you keep hitting foul." She tossed the little robot out the window with a big throw. Bokkun screamed as he "flew" away.
"What kind of pitch was that?" Chris asked.
"I think it was a screw ball." Chuck answered.
"You ok?" Sonic asked Penny, and the girl nodded. Then, he completely freaked out. "We've got to get to that stadium!"
Soon, they were all speeding to the stadium. Chuck smirked as he tilted his baseball cap, and Sonic and Silver sped towards the building.
Show Time!
...
Soon, the light from the emeralds faded.
"What just happened, little fella?" The man asked.
"That always happens when Chaos Emeralds come together." Tails said. "I just hope the wrong person didn't see it!"
The familiar sound of Eggman laughing got Tails's attention. "Well, if it isn't my foxy-high- flying friend." Eggman sneered.
"Dr. Eggman!" Tails cried.
"Where's the rest of your team?" Eggman asked suddenly. "It's almost game time!"
"Forget it. You want the Chaos Emeralds but I won't give them to you!" Tails said.
"Could it be that Sonic and his pals are choosing to forfeit? I must say, that is very un-sporty of them." He growled angrily. "IF THERE'S ONE THING I HATE MORE THAN A MEDDLING HEDGEHOG, IT'S A QUITTER."
"I don't get it. What are you talking about?" Tails asked in confusion.
"If they won't play ball with me, I still win." Eggman laughed, not answering Tails's question. He unleashed something from the bottom of his mobile, and a long tube came out. Tails dodged it, but the other man who was talking to him about baseball was so confused he didn't really have time to move. He yelped as the arm took the emerald out of his hand.
"Oh, no, he's got the emerald!" Tails cried.
Eggman smirked as the claw handed him the emerald. "One down, one to go." Eggman smirked. He turned to Tails. "Hand it over. I won it fair and square. Now give me the second emerald, or I'll have to use a force play!"
"I'd like to see you try!" Tails said fiercely, keeping a good grip on the first emerald. He began to ran, and the mechanical claw followed him...
... but was demolished by Knuckles.
"That was close. Are you all right?" Knuckles asked.
"Knuckles! Am I glad to see you!" Tails said.
The red echidna landed on the ground and turned to Eggman. "Well, look who it is. I like your costume!"
"You again." Eggman grumbled. "And what brings you here? Doing Sonic's dirty work?"
Knuckles didn't say anything and turned to Tails. "Let's get out of here, Tails." He told the boy fox.
"OK!" Tails agreed.
But before they could move, they were surprised to see a blue blur running across the stadium. Following the first one was a silver ball. They stopped running and smiled at Knuckles.
"Hey, how's it going, Knuckles?" Sonic asked with a smirk.
"Well, if it ain't Sonic and Silver!" Eggman smirked. "I thought you weren't gonna show up, so I took one of the Chaos Emeralds and was about to collect the second one." He watched as he saw the rest of Sonic's team, including Penny and her family, entered and glared at Eggman. "But now you're here, we can all play ball!"
"All right." Silver smiled. "Just give us the Chaos Emerald back!"
"All in good time, my speedy little opponents." Eggman smirked. "But first, let me introduce you to my fellow teammates!"
Sonic and Silver looked confused until a shadow loomed over us. Penny gasped in shock, and one by one, all in a bright light, robots wearing baseball T shirts and hats hopped down and surrounding them.
"They're scaring me, Kat and Amy." Cream whimpered, and Kat and Amy put protective hands around Cream.
"It's ok." Amy said.
All together, 7 robots looked ready for a game of baseball. Eggman hopped down, and glared at them. "Not too shabby, hu? Now, why don't we knock off the pre-game ceremonies and get to the reason why we're all here. It's now game time!"
"LET'S PLAY BALL!" Two new robots emerged. One was gold, and the other was silver.
"You can't have your game here!" Tails said angrily.
"Wait." Chuck stood in front of Tails. "It so happens, ol' Grandpa Chuck here is a big baseball fan from way back."
"Hu?" Tails peeped from behind Chuck.
"A nice friendly game of baseball seems like a great idea to me!" He smiled.
"B-but Chuck..." Tails began.
Eggman laughed. "Ah, so you are, Chuck?" He asked. "Well, it's a pleasure to finally meet you! A ball game must sound most exciting after being cooped up in that laboratory of yours all day."
"HEY, IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A BALL GAME, THEN YOU HAVE TO DO IT SOMEPLACE ELSE!" Tails cried. "ISN'T ANYBODY LISTENING TO ME?!"
"Well, Eggman, if the others are up to it, then I'll be more than happy to accept your challenge!"
"BUT YOU CAN'T HAVE YOUR GAME HERE!" Tails cried. "YOU'RE GONNA RUIN ALL THE BEAUTIFUL TURF!" Tails cried.
"What's that loud mouthed fox being so bent out of shape for?" The gold robot asked.
"Who knows?" The silver robot said.
"HEY!" Tails said angrily. "I'll have you know the stadium means a lot to my friend!"
"It's ok, Tails." The man smiled. "Only a matter of time before it's demolished anyway."
Chuck turned towards the person speaking. "Have I seen you somewhere?" He asked.
"Maybe during the seventh inner stretch." The man smiled. "My name's Albert Butler. I'm the head groundskeeper here,"
"Ah, I thought you looked familiar." Chuck smiled, walking over to Albert. "I've seen you on television! You were good friends with the owner of the Diamonds, Elmer Johnson, right?"
"Wow, you know him?" Chris asked in surprise. Penny's mouth opened in shock.
"Elmer and I don't talk much anymore." Albert said sadly. Hearing Grandpa crying, Albert looked up in surprise. "This is such an honor to think that I get to play baseball at the world famous Diamond Stadium..." Chuck sobbed humorously.
"STOP YOUR BLUBBERING AND LET'S PLAY BASEBALL!" Eggman roared.
"Ok." Amy said, raising her brows.
"How do we play?" Hiro asked, walking up with Cloud.
"All right, everybody." Chuck said. "Time for the Chaos Emerald playoff." Eggman pushed Chuck away and grinned, "It's the first annual Eggman Intergalactic Baseball Challenge!"
"This is sad." Knuckles said, standing next to Penny.
"And totally embarrassing." Penny said. Kat, who was also standing beside Penny and in the uniform, nodded.
Sonic looked over at Mr. Tanaka and asked, "Does he have to be on our team?"
"Amy, do we get to play, too?" Cream asked.
"Don't see why not." Amy said.
Penny looked over at Eggman and whispered to Grandpa, "I don't think this baseball game is such a good idea. What if Eggman's got something up his sleeve?"
"Penny, you may be right." Chuck said. But he was smiling. "For all we know, that guy could be using a corked bat!"
"That's not what I mean, Grandpa," Penny said, but she couldn't help but giggle at his joke.
"Let's decide which winning team gets to bat!" Eggman suddenly said, and prepared for a rock, paper, scissors game with Chuck. "Rock, paper..."
"You can't be serious." Knuckles suddenly said. "You know what will happen if Eggman wins, don't you? He won't just be winning the game, but the Chaos Emeralds too! If Eggman wins this game, it will be nothing but catastrophe for us."
"I'd say that's nothing but stinking thinking." Eggman said.
"Why ruin everyone's fun, hu?" Chuck asked Knuckles.
"C'mon, Knuckles, don't you want to play?" Amy smirked.
"Don't be chicken." Cream smiled.
"I would love to have you on my team, Knucks." Penny said, using Sonic's nickname for him.
"Sh-shut up, Penny!" Knuckles blushed. "M-me? Chicken?!"
"Perhaps Mr. Knuckles is simply afraid to play a game of baseball, hu?" Mr. Tanaka taunted the echidna.
"Hu? Afraid?" Knuckles asked. He looked irritated as we surrounded him. "I'm not afraid of anything!"
"You play or you'll deal with me, Hiro, and Cloud when we get home." Silver said, punching his hand.
"Silver's right." Kat smirked.
"Please, Knuckles?" Penny asked.
"I'm NOT afraid of anything!" He said again. Sonic zoomed next to him. "Great, then you'll play, hu?"
Finally, FINALLY Knuckles made his choice. "All right! You want a team player, you got one! Let's get this game on!" He said, fully irritated at everyone for nagging him.
...
Soon, the Thorndyke's team and Eggman's team were all set up for a game of baseball. Chris was the one batting, and Penny was up next. Penny twirled her hair with her finger nervously, and watched as Chris missed the first catch.
"Come on, little brother! You can do it!"
Chris looked over at Sonic, and the blue hedgehog whistled. Soon, Chris was out of the first round.
"How can anyone hit a baseball that fast?" Poor Chris asked as he handed Penny the bat. The girl looked down at him and ruffled his hair. "How about you let big sis go for a change?" Penny smiled. As she walked off towards the plate, Penny heard Eggman yell at Chris: "LOSER!"
Penny growled. Ok, that does it! That guy was going down, down, down, down!
The pitcher pitched the ball. To everyone's surprise, Penny managed to get two hits, and one out. Sonic whistled at that too. Penny chuckled, and did the next course of the game.
Next was Tails. "I'll bet I'll get a fast ball!" Tails said, readying his bat.
Suddenly, the robot cheated! He moved his arm with the ball and moved towards the umpire and catcher. The ball landed right in the silver robot's hand. "Strike one!"
"Hey, umpire! That's cheating!" Tails cried.
"What do you want?" The gold robot, whose name was Decoe, looked at Tails blankly. "It's not my fault he has long arms!"
Soon, Amy came, holding her hammer. "Give me your best pitch, ball boy!" She said. Amy whacked the ball high into the sky.
Penny's group all cheered from the sidelines. "We might not be so bad after all." Knuckles smiled.
"Told you so." Penny grinned, nudging him playfully. Knuckles blushed and pushed the human girl off. "Penny, I told you to stop talking about that!"
But, the robot flew up in the air and caught the ball. "SHE'S OUT!"
"Hu?" Amy asked.
...
Soon, Amy was pitching. "I'll show him what I can do. I'm a much better pitcher than he is." Amy smirked and threw the ball...
...and the ball split right through the robot.
"Eh... Sorry about that!" Amy said nervously, waving it off. The robot made his move, though, and as soon as the catcher tossed the ball to Tails, the robot used his long slender arms and legs to hop over him and land on the next plate. "Losing isn't fun." Tails muttered.
Soon, it was Kat's turn to pitch. The chocolate-brown haired girl took a big swinging bat, and managed to hit the ball clean out the park!
"AND IT'S OUT OF THE PARK!" Cried Eggman. Sonic beaten the robot to it, and caught the ball in his pitcher's glove.
"Home run. Home run. Home run." Decoe muttered, moving his hand up and down. Chuck even looked impressed. "You caught it, Sonic." He said. "But if it's out of the fence, it doesn't count."
"Who says we gotta play by the rules anyway?" Sonic frowned. "Cut me some slack."
A robot tossed the ball, and ended up getting hit by the ball and destroyed again. Amy laughed nervously. "Sorry. That's a hit!" She smiled.
Knuckles did great on his part. He hit the ball clear into space. "Sad to say, but that's a home run!" The umpire called. The crowd cheered as Knuckles ran. The score was moving higher.
What they didn't know was that the news reporter girl was there. "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen." She said. "This is Scarlet Garcia with a live report on Diamond Stadium. There appears to be an unusual baseball game happening right this minute. The notorious Dr. Eggman and a team of robots are playing a game against Sonic and his friends here at the stadium, the soon-to-be former home of the Diamonds. This certainly has to become a sports record in history. This is Scarlet Garcia reporting. Stay tuned to SSTV for continuing coverage of this momentous game."
"We're closing in on Eggman's team!" Chuck said, smiling at the points on the board. "Now, let's give them our best shot! Tanaka!"
"Yes sir." Tanaka appeared next to him.
"I'm putting in a pinch hitter for you."
"Hu?" Mr. Tanaka looked confused.
"It's Cheese." Chuck said.
Cheese happily wandered onto the batter's plate, and readied her bat. Upon noticing how small the little chao was, the robot sweat dropped, but pitched anyway.
Cheese missed everyone.
"Ball one." The first ball sailed over the little chao's head.
"Ball two."
"Ball three."
"Ball four. Take your base."
Cheese smiled victoriously and flew down. Eggman saw the whole thing and got furious. "YOU BIG LOSER!" He roared at the robot, which jumped in response. "YOU CALL YOURSELF A PITCHER?!"
Next up was Cream. "Play ball." The umpire called.
Before the pitcher could pitch, Cream called up to him. "Oh, Mr. Pitcher!" The pitcher stopped in mid throw, and stared at her.
"Could you... maybe not throw the ball to hard, I never played before." Cream suggested in her soft voice. The poor pitcher was blushing so hard at how cute Cream was, that he dropped the ball and allowed her to pass. "Balk. Batter takes first base."
"Thank you, Mr. Pitcher!" Smiled Cream, and the little bunny skipped to her first base. This got Eggman so mad that he yelled, "I OUGHTA THROW YOU INTO SCRAP HEAP!"
Knuckles once again got another home run. "Great work, Knuckles. Another home run!" Chuck cheered.
"That means we're tied!" Kat smiled, and looked over at Penny. The two girls whooped and high fived each other.
That's when Chris suddenly said, "Look, every body!"
They looked up, and saw a huge crowd in the audience.
"HEY, HEY!" Two kids cried. "Hey, guys, throw a homer this way!"
"Hu? Where did all these people come from?!" Albert asked, clearly shocked.
Sonic managed to get his home run, and thanks to his speed, he made it to first place. Eggman was furious. "YOU STRIKE OUT THAT SQUIRT OR ELSE!-"
Next up was me. Penny stood up, nervously tied up her orange-brown hair in a pony tail, and slapped her cap on. "All right. My turn." She turned to Blaze, Silver, and the others. "Wish me luck."
"You got this, Penny!" Hiro shot the girl a thumbs up.
"Hit a home run, kiddo." Knuckles smiled, patting her on the back.
"YEAH!" Amy smiled. "Kick that robot's butt!"
"We're counting on you!" Kat smiled.
"Teach that robot a lesson!" Silver smirked.
"Ok, guys, I think she gets it." Blaze smirked, waving the others off.
Penny smiled, though my blue eyes shown worry. "Thanks, guys."
Penny looked nervously out at the pitcher. The pitcher moved a stunning ball... and tossed it at high speed... a bit too fast then the first round she played. Penny winced, froze up, and closed her eyes.
"Strike one." The umpire said. Penny unfroze and looked upset. "There I go, freezing up again. I knew I wasn't good at sports. If I keep doing this, I'll..."
Sonic wasn't liking this. He watched as Penny froze up again on the second pitch. Sonic knew she needed to be pulled to her senses, so he called out, "Time out!"
Sonic walked up to Penny. "Hey, Penny."
The girl hurried over to him as well. "I know you can get a hit." He patted her shoulder. "There's nothing to it, Penny. All you have to do is relax, remove all tension from your body, and concentrate."
Penny looked down sadly. "Easy for you to say." She said. "He's pitching so fast, I also am afraid of the ball hitting me..." Penny moved her gaze downward again. "I know, it's a stupid fear."
"You'll get over it." Sonic smiled. "So, he's throwing a couple of fast balls. You can't let that get you down, pal. Just keep going and don't give up."
Penny looked down at him, and whipped whatever tears was forming in her eyes. The girl smiled softly.
"That's the Penny I know! Now get out there and do your best." Sonic smiled.
Penny took Sonic's advice and slowly relaxed. The girl took a deep breath, in and out, and soon released all tension inside her. When she was through, she smiled at him. "Ok."
Soon, Penny was back at the pitcher's plate. The girl readied her bat, and the umpire called, "PLAY BALL!"
"Sonic's right. I just have to relax and keep trying. I need to get over my fears."
The pitcher tossed its ball...
...and she missed. "Strike three."
The girl panted, putting her hands on her knees. She wasn't used to so much exercise. She breathed heavily. "At least I tried my best."
"PENNY, RUN!" She heard Chuck, Hiro, Cloud, and the others call. Penny looked up to see the ball dashing away, and she gasped. She ran! With a giant leap, Penny took a dive to the first place.
"Safe." The robot next to Penny said.
"I did it. I got to first base!" Penny looked back at Sonic, and he smiled, giving the girl a thumbs up.
Eggman didn't like this. "Oh yeah?!" He growled. "Those bumbling clowns, they won't make a fool out of me!" Bocoe walked up and handed Eggman a remote. One of the robot heads swoomed up and latched onto Sonic's. Another robot did the same, and latched itself on Penny's head. Penny yelped in shock.
What's that?" Sonic asked.
"Oh, my dear robot! It's malfunctioning!" Eggman cried. "It will explode any minute now! Run, Sonic, Penny, Run away!" Eggman cried, hopping up and down.
"Sonic, what are we gonna do?!" Penny cried, trying to pull it off. Sonic raced towards her and grasped the girl in his arms. "He's trying to get us to forfeit the game!" He said. "We gotta get rid of these things, quickly!"
With Penny in his arms, Sonic took a mad-dash run around the ball park, hoping that the wind would toss those creeps off. That didn't work, though.
"Wow, these things are keeping on!" Sonic said as Penny clung to him tighter.
"SONIC! PENNY!" The two heard someone call their names.
The two looked over to Knuckles. "Jump, Sonic, hurry!"
"Ok..." Sonic nodded, and gripped Penny tighter. He jumped high into the air, and Knuckles jumped high as they were, and Sonic got a little nervous. "Hey, watch it, will ya?" He asked, holding Penny tighter. Knuckles smashed the bots off their heads, causing a huge explosion. But thankfully, they weren't in the debris. Sonic and Penny smiled at Knuckles. "Thanks, you're a life saver." Sonic smiled at him. "Thank you, Knuckles!" Penny said.
The red echidna winked at her. "Any time, kiddo. Any time."
The trio suddenly heard Eggman laughing. "You may have beaten me at baseball," He said as Sonic, Knuckles, and Penny landed on the ground. "But with this shiny blue chaos emerald snuggled so safely in my pocket, I'm the real winner after all!" He burst out laughing. Then he flew away, with the ship holding all the robot players flew after them.
"Now he has both Chaos Emeralds." Amy said.
Once again, my friends and family ran over to me and hugged Penny. "You did great." Kat smiled. "Thanks for the daily heart attack, though."
The thirteen year old smirked at her. "It's my pleasure." She smiled.
They suddenly heard the crowd cheering.
"What an amazing team!" Someone called.
"As you can see, there's been quite a turnout for this event." Scarlet said. "The game was, of course, the last to be played at the stadium." She paused, and gasped. "Could that be..."
A man was walking out towards us. Chris gasped. "Hey, look, that's Elmer Johnson!" He cried.
Elmer Johnson walked right up to Albert. "I was watching at home." He smiled. "I must say it was a remarkable game. It's all thanks to you, Al. And I..." He paused, and looked at Albert. "Well, Al, I can't help but think of how much you've done for the Diamonds over the years and what a great friend you've been."
Albert looked surprised. "Thank you," He said.
"I'm thinking of moving the Diamond turf over to the new stadium intact. I sure could use your help." Elmer held his hand to Albert. He gasped. "Sure thing!" Albert smiled, shaking hands with Elmer.
"Well, we may have lost those Chaos Emeralds, but I think we've all learned an important lesson of working together." Chuck smiled. "And I'm sure you'll all agree, we'll be even stronger next time we beat Eggman."
