At Eggman's base Eggman was loading his deck of cards in to the machine, closed the hatch, pulled the lever, and watched the them spin. This time, E-90 Super Sweeper was chosen.
"Perfect! Haha!" he said.
Sporting a hawk-like beak, massive engines, and massive weapons, the Super Sweeper was moved into takeoff position. A secret panel opened up in the island's greenery, and the Super Sweeper took off into the air.
At Area 99 control room.
"What was that? Some kind of rocket maybe? It's so fast!" Area 99 Patrol said.
"What's the word?" Area 99 Military Leader asked on radio.
"An unknown object was spotted about five minutes ago. I'm afraid that's all we know, sir." Patrol said over the radio.
"That Dr. Eggman's up to something. I only wish I knew what it was." Military Leader said on the radio as a satellite in space adjusted its cameras. "Has it been identified?"
"Has it been identified?" Military leader said on the radio.
"I'm afraid not, sir." Patrol said over the radio.
The military leader's expression was grim.
In Eggman's base.
Well now. Time to have a little fun. Heheheh!" Eggman said and pulled a lever, causing the Super Sweeper's mouth to open, and a large hose protrudes from it. "Super Sweeper!"
The Super Sweeper's hose activated a powerful suction.
At Area 99 control room.
"What's going on?" Military Leader asked on the radio.
"Communication's cut off! Sir, the satellite! It's-" Area 99 patrol said on the radio.
"Gone?!" the leader said standing up on the radio.
"Yes, sir!"
"This can't be happening! It's impossible!"
Several blips on the giant radar screen began moving toward a central spot. In space, all nearby satellites were pulled into the Super Sweeper.
Back at Eggman's base Bocoe and Decoe were having tea while Eggman watchds the Super Sweeper.
"Just look at all my shiny new toys. Heheh. Ah well. Too bad I have to grind them all into robot parts. Who knew recycling could be so much fun? Heheh, and cost-effective!" Eggman said.
At Area 99 Control room the officers were panicking as the blips finished disappearing.
"It's getting closer!" Area 99 Patrol said over the radio." the pilot said over the radio.
"We've got to alert the President!" Area 99 Military Leader shouted.
At Thorndyke Mansion Sonic was reclining on the roof with his medallion on as usual, and Tanaka was mowing the lawn. Inside, Cream and Cheese were dancing along with Next in The Next Show on TV. Tails and Chris were sitting on the couch behind them.
"You know what I like to do best, boys and girls? I like to dance! Dancing is lots of fun and it's good exercise, too! Hey, I've got an idea. Why don't you dance with me? That's it! Lookin' good!" Next said as Ella and Amy entered the room, each bearing an apple pie.
"Hi! Snack time, everyone!" Ella said and they both set their pies on the table in front of Chris and Tails. "Here we go."
"Ella showed me how to make homemade apple pie." Amy said.
"I think our little Amy has quite a knack for baking. I just might be out of a job soon!"
"Hey, Ella! Maybe Sonic would like some pie."
"He can have the other one." Tails said licking his lips.
"No you don't! That one's for Sonic!"
Tails made a grab for one of the pies, but Amy pulled it away, causing him to be thrown into the television.
"No waaay!" he said and static replaces The Next Show.
"Tails, you broke our... TV!" Cream said.
Sorry..."
"That was our favorite program..."
Chris picked up the TV controller.
"Don't worry, Cream. Maybe this'll help." he said and presses a button, but didn't work.
Then he pressed a button, but to no avail.
"O-kay... Guess that didn't work."
"Now we can't watch our program!" she said she and Cheese Cream and Cheese started to cry.
Shadow heard their crying and leapt in through the open window.
"Hey, what's goin' on?" he asked with his medallion off now.
"Hi, Sonic. Cream and Cheese are upset cuz the TV's busted." Chris said.
"That's what they're crying about?"
"Uh-huh."
"What do we do? Now I can't watch my cooking show!" Amy said.
"Or Mrs. Thorndyke in the movie of the week." Ella said.
"Or the martial arts matinee." Tanaka said.
"Mm... Sorry, Mr. Tanaka." Chris said.
Suddenly Bokkun flew in through the open window. Amy and Ella moved their pies as he lands on the table. Sonic and Chris hid behind the couch.
"That was a disappointing welcome if you don't mind me saying so!" Bokkun said and pulled a television from his bag. "Got a brand-new message for Sonic from Dr. Eggman, so listen up good!" activated the television, and Eggman appeared on the screen."
"Greetings, my little warthog! Sorry it's been so long since my last message, but I've been such a busy little bee. Take a look." Eggman said.
The image on the screen changes to show the Super Sweeper vacuuming up the satellites.
"That thing's swallowing up satellites!" Chris said.
"And it's ruined our television reception." Tanaka said.
"Don't get any ideas, Sonic! After all, I'm only having a little fun. So stay out of it if you know what's good for you! As we speak, my E-90 is floating above the stratosphere, collecting all manner of space junk so I can make more and more of my ever-so-helpful mechanical friends. Well? What do you say to that?" Eeman said and laughed. "Pretty soon, you might be obsolete, Bokkun!"
Then Bokkun burst into tears.
"What's E-90?" Chris asked.
"I don't know, Chris, but I'll bet it's one of Dr. Eggman's robots. I wonder what a stratosphere is?" Tails said then Chuck entered the room.
"A layer of air miles above us. It's as high as the sky!" he said and Tails thought about this as Chuck approached Bokkun, who was still crying. "We can do without you, crybaby." he said and picked him up and carried him out of the room.
"No! Put me down!" Bokkun said and an explosion was heard, and Sonic and Chris cringed. "Gotcha! Ahahahaha!"
A blackened Chuck returned to the room.
"Looks like that robot's da bomb!" Chris said.
And saw a shot of a passenger jet.
"Very funny, but this is serious, Chris. Eggman's causing havoc miles above anyone's reach." Chuck said.
"I bet the Tornado can get up there." Chris said and Tails considered it, but Sonic emerged from behind the couch.
"Come on, Tails." he said. "Why not? I'm game. Let's go!" he said and raced for the Tornado.
"Okay, I'm coming!" he said and rushed after him and the two climbed into the plane.
Then he taxies' the Tornado out of the garage.
"We can do it!"
"You bet!" Sonic said.
Amy, Chuck, and Chris watched as the Tornado took off.
"Good luck, you guys! We'll be waiting!" Amy said while Tails started his approach on the Super Sweeper.
At Eggman's base.
"Huh? E-90, zap those meddlers!" Eggman said.
In the sky the Super Sweeper fired lasers at the Tornado, but was able to dodge them.
"Move in close!" Sonic said.
The Super Sweeper tried to eat the Tornado, but missed.
"We move too fast for it!" Tails said and they started another approach, avoiding more lasers.
"I think that was too close." Sonic said.
'Let's hope we don't crash into anything like Manic did once while we were on a mission.' he thought and snickered remembering that day.
"Don't worry. I think I've got an idea."
The Super Sweeper opened a hatch, and unleashed several bombs at the Tornado, which avoided them. Then flew loops around the it sending it into a barrel roll.
At Eggman's base Eggman was dizzy from watching the proceedings.
In the sky.
"Here goes!" Tails said and open fired on the Super Sweeper, riddling it with lasers.
The robot started to flee, and the Tornado chased it.
"Stay with it!" Sonic said.
"Just hold on tight!"
Suddenly the Super Sweeper unleashed a giant green metal block from its underbelly. Sonic and Tails shouted in surprise before they pulled up and avoided the block, which activated rocket engines, sped away, and exploded. The heroes began another approach on the Super Sweeper.
In Eggman's base.
"Time for some fireworks." Eggman said and pulled a lever.
In the sky three missiles were launched at the Tornado so Sonic leapt out of the Tornado, kicked the missiles back at the Super Sweeper, and landed back in his seat.
In Eggman's base.
"You think you're so smart, don't you?! Super Sweeper!" Eggman said.
In the sky at Eggman's command, the Super Sweeper activated its powerful vacuum hose.
"It's sucking us in!" Sonic said while Tails pulled up, and broke free of the suction.
The Super Sweeper pursued the Tornado.
"It's comin' up behind us!" he said.
"I know one way to shake it!" Tails said and flew into a cloud as the Super Sweeper activated its vacuum again, sucking in the cloud. "I can't believe it! It's swallowing up all the clouds!"
Suddenly the Tornado experienced a malfunction.
"Oh no!" he said.
The Tornado began plummeting to earth and wrestled with the controls, and was able to pull up before they crashed into the water.
Later in Thorndyke Mansion Sonic was lying on the roof of Chuck's lab having a flashback of their close call with Super Sweeper's vacuum. Chris, Tails, and Chuck were talking in the garage. Tails looks depressed.
"It appears our foe is more powerful than we thought." Chuck said.
"Hey, Tails." someone said so Tails turned and saw Sonic had just gotten down from the roof and entered the garage. "Problem is, the Tornado's too slow. So, what you oughta do is soup this birdie up a little bit."
"I could try." Tails said.
"Really, Tails?" Chris said.
"Maybe I could use the Chaos Emerald. ... But there could be a problem."
"Huh?" Chris and Chuck said.
"It's all that energy. The Chaos Emerald's got huge amounts of energy. It would only take a tiny bit to run the Tornado, so all that extra energy wouldn't have anywhere to go. And that could be a real big problem!" Tails said watching the Tornado exploding.
"What do you think, Grandpa?" Chris asked.
"We need to find a way to burn off the Emerald's excess energy." Chuck said.
"I wouldn't want to just waste it." Tails said.
"Do you have any better ideas?"
"Well, we could install a backup engine. That way, with two engines instead of one, the energy would have another outlet."
"Do you really think two engines could contain all that power?"
"If we want to beat Dr. Eggman, it's sure worth giving it a try."
"In order to install that backup, we have to rebuild the plane. Are you sure you have the know-how to do that, Tails?"
"Well, I've never done anything like this before, but I'll give it a shot."
"You can do it, Tails. I know it." Sonic said.
'If Manic was here he'd be up for helping.' he thought and snickered.
"Come with me, Tails. I've got something that might interest you." Chuck said. "In fact, I'm certain it will." he said and guided Tails to an elevator, and headed down to a room underneath the garage.
"What's this?"
"It's my secret laboratory!"
The room's lights turned on.
"It's amazing!" Tails said.
"I think you'll find everything you need."
"Sure!"
"Now let's rebuild the Tornado!"
"Yeah!"
Later that night, Tails and Chuck are poring over some blueprints they made.
"We'll connect it here." Tails said.
"You mean like this?" Chuck asked.
Tails and Chuck were soon hard at work on their invention. Later still, Chuck approached Tails.
"You've been working all day long, Tails. Why don't you take a break." Chuck said.
"It's okay. I'm almost done." Tails said.
Chuck shrugged.
"All right." he said and left.
A moment later, Chris tapped Tails' shoulder.
"Want some help?" he asked.
The next morning, Sonic was in Thorndyke Mansion's living room watching the sunrise from the roof of Chuck's lab, and Chris, Amy, and Cream were sleeping on the couch roused by the television.

Then instead of The Next Show or anything like that, Dr. Eggman's face suddenly appeared on the screen, startling Cream.
"Good morning! It's time for the one and only Dr. Eggman show! This program is coming to you live via satellite from a beautiful island in the Southern Sea." Eggman said.
'What are you doing?' Sonic wondered.
"He's scary..." Cream said.
In Eggman's base.
"Today's show is brought to you by the amazing Super Sweeper, for a cleaner, safer stratosphere." Eggman said and Decoe aimed a large camera at him.
"Cue." Bocoe said.
Eggman was standing on a stage holding a microphone. A spotlight was shining on him.
"Who's the most brilliant scientist in all the universe?" Eggman asked and laughed. "Ah, why it's Dr. Eggman!"
'Uncle Chuck was even Better than you!' Sonic thought.
In the sky the Super Sweeper was once again launched into the stratosphere.
At Area 99 control room.
"Sir, the object appears to have lean launched." Patrol said over the radio.
"Then I'm afraid we have no choice but to launch a counterattack." Military leader said over the radio.
"Yes, sir."
Outside Thorndyke Mansion Sonic was still staring in the direction of the sun.
"Sonic!" someone said and Sonic leapt down from the roof to see Tails in the driveway.
"Did you finish?" he asked.
"Yup, we sure did! Come on; I'll show ya!"
Soon, Tails, Sonic, Chuck, Chris, Amy, and Cream were standing in front of the garage door. Tails and Chuck nodded to each other, and the latter pressed a button on a remote. The entire garage and lab began to rise, revealing the secret lab underneath. Inside was Tails' new invention.
"Presenting Tornado X!" Tails said.
At Area 99 as the Super Sweeper entered the stratosphere, several satellites prepare their laser cannons.
"Target locked on, sir!" Patrol said over the radio.
In the sky at Eggman's command, the Super Sweeper unleashes its vacuum hose and aimed it upward at the Area 99 satellites above it.
"Fire laser!" Military Leader said and the satellites fired their lasers, but a force field deflected them around the Super Sweeper. "What is happening?"
"A feeble attempt at best, my friends. Come on, Super Sweeper. Do your stuff!" Eggman said.
The Super Sweeper's vacuum hose begins to swallow the satellites.
Outside Thorndyke Mansion.
"Let's shove off, Tails." Sonic said.
"Hey Sonic, I was hoping I could go, too." Chris said.
"Chris, you can't come with us. You know the plane's only a two-seater."
"I thought..."
"Guess I forgot to tell you. I made a couple of more changes." Tails said and pressed a button on a remote to open the cockpit of the X-Tornado, revealing four seats instead of two as previously thought.

"I asked Tails if he could put in an extra seat. I hope you don't mind, Sonic." Chris said. "Well, Sonic?"
"Just so long as you don't get in the way, okay?"

Soon, the three are inside the X-Tornado, and Tails taxis it down the runway.
"X-Tornado, ready for takeoff!" Tails said.
The first and second wings fold into flight position. Amy and Chuck were watching from the secret workshop.
"Let's clear the runway." Chuck said ads pressed a button on a remote, and the palm trees on either side of the runway fold down, allowing the X-Tornado room to take off. "I can't wait! I'm so excited, I could fly!"
"X-Tornado, blast off!" Tails said then the engines activated, and the X-Tornado began to accelerate down the runway. "Here we go." he said and the X-Tornado lifted off the ground and gained altitude. "Okay, get ready. We're about to enter X Hyper Speed Mode!" he said while the X-Tornado took off into the sky.
In Eggman's base Bocoe and Decoe were looking at the radar.
"Sorry to disturb you, Dr. Eggman, but something is headed for E-90, and it sure is fast!" Decoe said.
"But not fast enough. I'll teach them to sneak up on me!" Eggman said.
The Super Sweeper descended from the sky and fired six missiles. The X-Tornado skillfully avoided them all as Shadow opened his cockpit.
"Let's do it!" Sonic said.
Using the missiles as leverage, he soared up to the top of Super Sweeper and landed on it. The Super Sweeper tried to blast Sonic, but he dodged.
"Don't worry, Sonic! I've got your back!" Tails said.
Then the X-Tornado shot and destroyed the Super Sweeper's laser cannons.
"Thanks, Tails!" Sonic said.
In Eggman's base.
"Soniiiic! I'll put an end to that hyperactive hedgehog!" Eggman said. "He and the other three may have won every time and he may have won everything since the beginning but I'll won this one!"
In the sky the Super Sweeper revealed another laser cannon which started blasting thin yellow lasers at the X-Tornado.
"I can't get any closer!" Tails said and Sonic destroyed the new laser cannon, but the explosion caused him to go flying.
In Thorndyke Mansion everyone but Tanaka was in the living room watching the battle on TV.
"Isn't Shadow the bravest?" Amy said.
In the sky the battle then moved into space, and Sonic started to float away due to the lack of gravity.
"Whoooa!" he said and grabbed and held on to the Super Sweeper's fuselage as said robot fired six more missiles at the X-Tornado dodging them.
In Eggman's base.
"Now try and top that!" Eggman said and pulled a lever.
In the sky Sonic's eyes widened as the Super Sweeper's hose approached him.
"Here we go! Booster switch on!" Tails said and activated a switch that propels the craft forward and the Super Sweeper's hose activated. "Sonic, watch out!" he said and shooting at and destroyed the hose.
In Eggman's base.
"All right... Wanna fight dirty?!" Eggman said.
In the sky the Super Sweeper released its green block and sped away.
"Just try to get away!" Tails said then caught up to the Super Sweeper, and Sonic hopped onto the wing of the X-Tornado.
Chris noticed that he was shivering.
"Sonic looks like he's shivering." he said.
"That's 'cause we're close to the stratosphere. It's fifty below up here, but Sonic can take it." Tails said.
Ice began to form around Sonic's sneakers and the entire X-Tornado.
"What's going on?" Chris asked.
"Everything's A-OK!" Tails said.
"A-OK." Sonic said.
Soon Sonic was encased in ice.
"Tails! Shadow is frozen solid!" Chris said.
"Huh?" Tails said as the Super Sweeper fired more missiles at the X-Tornado.
"Uh... Hey! The ring!"
"No good! I can't open the cockpit!"
Sure enough, ice had jammed the Power Ring launch door shut.
"But we've gotta think of something!" Chris said.
Then Tails remembered Chuck's words from earlier.
"We need to find a way to burn off the Emerald's excess energy."
"That's it!" he said then pressed a few buttons, and a drawer opened, revealing a Power Ring and Chris opened it. "I've got an idea. Listen carefully, Chris. Take the ring and connect it to the yellow cable underneath the seat."
"What's that gonna do?" Chris asked.
"There's no time for questions!"
"Oh, okay." Chris said and saw four cables under the seat.
Then he picked up the yellow one. Just then the X-Tornado banked to avoid the missile, causing the cable to fall out of his hands. Then he reached for the fallen cable, and connects the ring to it. The ring glew brightly, and sent energy through the X-Tornado, melting the ice around it and Shadow.
"Watch out, Eggman! I'm all warmed up! Let's go get 'em, guys!" he said.
"Yeah!" Tails said.
As the X-Tornado turned around, Sonic spin-dashed into the missiles, destroying them, then spins into the Super Sweeper's open mouth. After bouncing around a few times inside the robot, he emerged from the top, and the Super Sweeper exploded.
"Yeah!" Chris and Tails said.
At home everyone was in the living room celebrating Sonic's victory.
"Guess I need to call the cable guy." Tanaka said.
In sky as Sonic was diving toward earth, the X-Tornado pulled up beside him. Tails and Chris gave the thumbs-up signal, and Sonic returned it.
Later Sonic was in the living room soaking in a basin of hot water. Ella entered with a bowl on a tray.
"Sonic, I made my caliente chili for you. This will make your tummy nice and warm." Ella said.
"You sure taught Eggman a lesson, Sonic." Chuck said.
"It wasn't me, Chuck. I just helped out this time. Chris and Tails are the ones that did it. They're the real heroes!" Shadow said.
"Yeah!" Tails and Chris said together and gave each other a high-five.
"Let's celebrate!" Amy said and entered the room, carrying an arrangement of ice cream dishes. "I made this ice cream myself, for the coolest guy around!"
"Er... Wow, cool!"
