Epilogue

He had never done this; the whole wedding, ceremony thing. He never had that with Sha're. He also never gotten married while knowing he was getting married: it was a plus this time around. It had been a long four and a half months, with planning the wedding and everything and he could hardly believe today was finally the day Vala Mal Doran became Vala Jackson.

"Relax Daniel," Jack, the best man, chastised his fidgeting. "You're not having thoughts, are you?"

"Gods no," Daniel automatically replied. "Just anxious to start our new lives…. before she realizes she could do better."

"I don't think anyone besides you could put up with her," Mitchel teased from his position next to Teal'c, who was in the middle of the groomsmen.

Daniel was cut off from replying by that music starting. Daniel straightened and watched as each of the bridesmaids came down. Carolyn was first, followed by Junia, who had been able to make it. While she didn't quite understand the significance of a Tau'ri wedding and her role, she ecstatic and honored to be a part. Sam, as the matron of honor, was last, followed closely by the ringbearer, Kenan. Once Kenan was at the end of the isle, he came to stand in front of Daniel, who crossed his arms in front of the boy, hugging him close as they both watched the woman they loved come down.

Daniel's breath caught as he saw his bride for the first time. Both her arms were interlocked with General Landry, the man who had become somewhat of a father figure to her, and on her other side was Gaius, the man who had become her bother early on in life. Vala and Daniel had debated if they wanted to try and find Jacek but ultimately decided against it. Instead, she chose to be walked down the isle by Landry and Gaius.

The dress she wore was simple in shape and cut but was covered from top to bottom with sparkles that screamed Vala. She wore her hair down in waves, slightly pinned back on one side, complete with a small tiara. She was a vision, absolutely stunning, and Daniel couldn't believe she had agreed to be his wife.

As they spoke their vows, Daniel couldn't keep the smile off his face, while Vala did her best to keep the tears away, and when they were pronounced husband and wife, Daniel gave her a kiss that was not appropriate in public, much less in front of a five year old. Speaking of him, it was Kenan who broke the newly weds up as he impatiently tapped their arms.

As they broke away from each other, focusing on Kenan, the boy innocently asked, "Can I call Daniel dad now?"

The couple burst out a laugh, as did the guests, and Daniel picked him up. Looking him directly in the eye, Daniel replied sincerely, "I would love nothing more."

Kenan gave him a blinding grin and looked over at Junia. "Tante! I have a dad now!" he informed her and the rest of the guests, earning another laugh from everyone.

The reception was in full swing. Daniel and Vala had already did their first dance as a married couple, cut the cake, and had just sat down for the toasts portion of the reception to start. Daniel grabbed both of their flutes on champagne and handed Vala's to her, which she took gingerly before setting it off to the side and grabbed one of the sparkling cider ones.

"You okay?" Daniel questioned as he saw her switch. "You love champagne."

"Carolyn told me I wasn't allowed to have any," she responded gently, waiting for him to take the hint.

"Why?" he asked automatically and then his brain caught up with him. He leaned in closer so no one else could hear them. "Vala, are you…?" he trailed off

Vala blinked rapidly and nodded slightly. "Seven weeks."

Daniel let out a joyful laugh before kissing her, pouring all that joy and elation into it. His reaction made the guests all cheer at their kiss and he pulled away, forgetting where they were. "How long have you've known?"

"She told me yesterday," Vala admitted, still talking quietly. "I was going to wait until after the wedding, when we were away from everyone, but – "

"I'm glad you told me," he cut in and caressed her face.

"And you're truly happy about it? You don't think it's too soon?"

"I'm more than happy about it," he promised, "What about Kenan? Will he be okay with the news?"

They hadn't talked about expanding their family yet, other than that one time Daniel mentioned it during his first confession of love on their first night on Lyria, so they obviously hadn't talked it over with Kenan. Daniel was worried how Kenan would react, adding a new member so soon after their marriage, hell after being reunited with his mother. Daniel could only hope the boy wouldn't think they were trying to replace him or that he would become less special to Daniel once the baby arrived.

Vala smiled at her husband, trying to put him at ease. After knowing Daniel this long, she'd come to know how he thought and what his major concern was right now. "I'd say he'd be more than okay with it," she reassured him, "Especially considering he asked me for a sister a few weeks back."

"He did, did he," Daniel murmured lovingly and glanced over at said child where he was playing with his family from Lyria. Daniel focused back on his wife. "I wouldn't mind a girl either."

"Really?" she asked playfully

"I mean, it'd only be fair," Daniel responded seriously, "Kenan totally takes after me, so we'd need a daughter who takes after you; a little spit fire like her mother."

Vala smacked his shoulder, shaking her head in mock exasperation but couldn't hold back the smile that emerged. Before she could respond, Jack caught the attention of everyone else.

"Hello," Jack greeted, "for those of you who don't know, I'm Jack O'Neill, and I'm the best man."

Daniel groaned quietly to Vala and whispered, "Here we go."

The toasts were completed, cake was cut, first dance was observed, and food had long been served. All that was left was for everyone to enjoy themselves. As Sam and Teal'c danced, both observed the newly weds fondly. Sam studied her Jaffa friend as he watched the couple. She had seen him do this a lot since they had gotten together and she wondered. Maybe she could catch him off guard, unlikely, but she had to try.

"This happened on the Odyssey, didn't it?" she asked him.

Teal'c hid his reaction well but she saw a slight glimmer of truth to her words. "I would not be permitted to tell you if it did or did not."

"I know it probably didn't happen like this," Sam continued, "but they got together, they were happy like this, weren't they?"

"As I have said, I am not permitted to tell you."

"It's okay, Teal'c, I already know the answer," she declared, knowing she was right. "They were always meant for each other, its just taken them a while to get there and acknowledge it."

"Indeed," Teal'c agreed softly. There was no refuting that. To simply put it, Dr. Daniel Jackson and Vala Mal Doran were made for each other.

Seven months later, Vala Jackson gave birth to a baby girl and was named after Vala's mother, Ellery. Kenan had been thrilled to become a big brother and learned early on how to become a protective big brother from his many uncles.

The day he held his newborn daughter in his arms, Daniel couldn't believe what it took to get here, to have Vala as his wife, an amazing son, and now a beautiful daughter. Life hadn't been a piece of cake for either Vala or him. Life had kicked their sixes more than once. Getting to this point took more hardships and trials than most people experience in a lifetime or two, but neither Daniel nor Vala would change it for anything. All that mattered was each other and their two children. Yes, life had been hard up to get to this point, but it was more than worth it in the end.

The End.

Author's Note: Okay, I just had to make her preggers... Lame and predictable? Definitely but NO regrets!

Thanks you all for reading and reviewing! In the future, I may go over this and tweak a bit (or a lot) since I wasn't able to write this how I really wanted it, but I have a few other ideas I want to explore first. I may or not be a few chapters into writing another one...

I wanna give a shout out to my mystery reviewer! Thank you for your kind words and I really appreciate the support!

But not bad for only three weekends of work, right? As always, let me know your final thoughts!
