Percy:
Percy was having a nightmare. He had known before he had crawled into bed that night that it was inevitable. In fact, sleeping had become so unbearable that usually, he avoided it as much as possible, but after losing Annabeth and saving Piper and Leo earlier today, he was tired enough that he gave in.
In his dreams, he had been taken back to the depths of Tartarus. To his right stood Annabeth, one hand wrapped around his, the other holding her dagger, ready to fight. Percy was grasping Riptide, the Doors of Death at his back. He wondered vaguely why they were holding their weapons, nothing dangerous seemed to be there.
But then terror began to build up inside him, taking over any thoughts he'd had before. Percy looked up to see an army of monsters, a wall of creatures who wanted nothing more than to kill them, sprinting toward Percy and Annabeth.
Yells and battle cries echoed through the darkness of the pit, and fire and stone rained down on the demigods. Monsters lunged toward them attacking with everything they had. He cut and whipped his sword around again and again, but the line of monsters never seemed to end.
Then suddenly, a scream shattered the air. "PERCY!" At the piercing sound, the demigod turned, any nervousness or fear immediately melting away, only to be replaced by red hot anger.
Percy lunged toward Annabeth, his sword drawn, slashing any monster that got in his way to dust. His sprinted through the army, desperate to reach his girlfriend before the titan dragging her away could hurt her.
But then, Annabeth's screams began to change, less like terrified yells to something more like a...bleat?
No.
A bleat?
It was impossible.
But Percy knew that sound.
The dream shifted, and the demigod burst into the sunlight, watching in horror as his friend, Grover, sprinted through grass and trees, yelling as he went.
"PERRRCY! PERRRCY! HELP!" The satyr ran through the forest, fake feet flying. "IM IN ACRESIA! PLEASE COME, AS FAST AS YOU CAN!" Percy tried to reach toward his friend, trying to save him from whatever he was being chased by, but he couldn't seem to get any closer. He stood helplessly as Grover raced through the woods, running for his life.
Suddenly Grover's cries seemed to become weaker. He got out one last yell before the dream faded. "PERCY! BE CAREFUL OF THE-"
Percy snapped awake.
The demigod was out of bed before he could even process what had just happened. He burst out of his room and sprinted down the hallway, his feet working for him. Crashing into the dining hall, his eyes found Annabeth's immediately. Percy got out one word.
"Grover."
It took his girlfriend about 2 seconds to realize what was going on.
She whipped out her knife and threw a map to Percy. "Where?" She called back to him, already halfway to the armoury, gathering shields and weapons. Even though he was focused on Grover, he had to admire his girlfriend. Percy was still half asleep from exhaustion, and Annabeth had understood and leapt into action right away.
The rest of the seven were staring at Percy in complete confusion. Piper spoke first. "Um, Percy... what are you guys talking about?" Annabeth answered quickly, running back into the room and tossing out swords and battle helmets to the group, giving Percy a chance to remember his dream.
"Four years ago, Percy and our friend Grover learned they were able to connect with each other in their minds. They were able to show up in the other person's visions and send them a message, tell them something and show them what was happening in that moment. They began to use their connection whenever they were in danger. After the War of Mount Olympus, we thought the connection had been broken, though we never figured out why."
She looked up from the map that Percy was scribbling on, trying to draw out Grover's location.
"Apparently we were wrong."
Frank and Jason stared at the couple with their mouths open. Hazel was the first to react. "Well, this might just be me, but it kind of sounds like they have an Empathy Link."
Percy nodded. "That's what we guessed."
Leo stood up, brushing his hair out of his eyes and grabbed a shield. "So you think that Grover, whoever he is, might be in danger again?"
"Exactly."
"So where to?" Piper asked, following Leo's lead and grabbing a helmet. Annabeth looked over to Percy, nodding to him to take lead.
Percy cleared his throat, holding up the map. "During the connection, Grover said he was in some place called Acresia. From what I can remember, he was running through a forest while I saw him, being chased by something that obviously scared him. So," He pointed to a tiny island on the atlas. "I did my best, and I think it should take us about 15 minutes to get there on hippocampi."
Percy lead the way out of the dining room. He stood upon the deck of the Argo II and focused on the waves. He held up riptide and feeling a sudden pull in his gut, the ocean erupted, and bursting through the surface of the water came Rainbow and two of the hippocampi's friends.
"Alright." Percy turned back to the group. "At least two people need to stay in the Argo II, in case of any attacks. Leo, Hazel, and Jason, you want to come?" Since Percy had no idea what was waiting for them, he thought it was best to bring demigods with a range of powers.
"And... Annabeth?"
"Already one step ahead of you." His girlfriend leapt into the water and swam over to the sea creatures, grasping Rainbow's mane and pulling herself on. In spite of the situation, Percy smiled at Annabeth.
Following her lead, Percy, Hazel, Jason, and Leo mounted the hippocampi. "Ok," Leo said. "Let's go save your friend."
"Oh, just one thing," Percy said, looking over at Leo as the hippocampi began to pull them through the waves. "Yeah?" Leo glanced over at him.
"Well, Grover... Grover is a goat," And the hippocampi dove underwater.
