Chapter 9

Girl Talk

By: SmilingDophins

Judy stood outside of Sorina's room. She knocked on the door and waited.

"Come in." Came a miserable voice from inside.

Judy opened the door and walked inside. Sorina was sitting on the end of the bed. When she saw it was Judy, wild fear danced in her eyes.

"Judy!" Sorina jumped up and began to back away, holding her hands up. "What... what are you doing here?"

Sorina's eyes darted furtively around the room, looking for an escape route

"I'm not here to hurt you, or do anything to you Sorina," Judy said, holding her hands up in a non-threatening way.

Judy sat down on the edge of the bed and motioned for Sorina to come closer. Sorina took a step forward but seemed reluctant to move closer.

"Sorina I'm-" Judy was cut off as Sorina started bawling.

"OhJudyI'msosorryInevewantedthistohappenImessedupandIfeelsobadI'mreallysorryIpromisenothinglikeitwilleverhappenagagainpleaseforgiveme!" Sorina wailed. She sat down at the opposite side of the bed head in her hands and sobbing

Judy scooted over to her.

At least I got a chance to apologize before I die. Sorina thought miserably. She waited for the sharp pain of some sort of concealed silver dagger but, much to her surprise, she felt the bunny put her arm around her shoulders. She looked up into Judy's amethyst eyes.

Sorina's eyes were wide with shock. Then she started bawling again and found herself leaning on the bunny's shoulder.

"Sorina, I forgive you for what you did. That doesn't make it right, but I'm not one to hold grudges."

Sorina sniffled.

"I do have one question though. Why?"

Sorina looked at her.

"Well, when Mom... when Mom brought Doina home, all of the attention went to her. Nobody paid attention to me anymore. And I was... scared it was going to happen again. Another prey vampire just seemed like another place for Mom to send her love to instead of me." Sorina croaked out.

Judy pulled her into another hug. She began to tell Sorina stories about Bunnyburrow and how she felt almost the same way every time her mother had a new litter of kits. She wondered if this was going to be her only time doing this. She wondered if when she had her daughter, would she be in the same situation.

Judy didn't know how long she sat there, but eventually, Sorina's sniffling was replaced by light breathing. Judy laid Soria down and her bed and left the room, turning off the light as she went.

She's a good girl. Judy thought. She just was caught up in her feelings and was afraid of history repeating itself.

Judy was no longer angry at the young female. The lynx had meant no real harm. Judy was angry at what she had done, but not at her. Now that Sorina's conscience was cleared, perhaps she could let some happiness back into her life. She was distracted and didn't see the male lynx coming down the hallway. She bumped into him.

"Oh sorry, Alexa..." The lynx she was currently looking at was a black lynx but was not Alexandru. He was carrying a bouquet of flowers.

"Um... Sorina's room is down there right?" The lynx asked.

"Uh, yeah, but may I ask what you're doing?" Judy tried not to sound accusatory.

The lynx blushed.

"Oh, well at the battle I was stari-," The lynx froze. "I mean I saw Sorina out of the corner of my eye and she looked sad so I ... uh... brought her these."

The lynx gestured to the flowers.

"That was a lame lie," Judy said crossing her arms. "I want the real truth, and don't worry, I won't tell. But however, if you don't tell me, I'll have to inform Sorina's parents that you're here."

Judy could see the open window he had obviously come through to get into the castle.

The lynx winced.

"Ok, look, I've had a crush on Sorina since I was 9 and she was 8. There. Happy?"

Judy smiled.

"Treat her good. She needs some encouragement. And next time, shut the fucking window." Judy walked down the hallway.

Taylor knocked on the door. Finally, he heard movement.

"Come in!" Came a groggy voice. Taylor opened the door.

"Taylor? What are you doing here?" Sorina asked. She moved quickly to a different position as she was only wearing a long sweatshirt and some underwear.

"I... um... brought you these," he said, holding out the flowers, eyes carefully avoiding looking below her neck. Sorina's eyes shifted to the flowers and back to Taloyr's blushing face. She smiled and stood up. She took the flowers and breathed in the scent. Orchids. Her favorite.

"Well, I guess I better get going." Taylor started to turn around.

"Wait."

He stopped.

"Uh, yeah, what's up?" He said casually.

"Stay... I...Uh... could really use your help." She said.

"With what?" He asked, clearly thinking she was serious.

Boys. She thought. Always making things more difficult for themselves.

"Well, obviously I need you to help me pick out a vase for the flowers. It could take all night though." She said innocently.

"Um, yeah, ok sure." He said, trying to sound neutral. He did a terrible job of hiding the excitement in his eyes though. Sorina thought about what Judy had told her that night.

Allow yourself to be loved.

She had been so caught up with her jealousy when Doina had come to the castle she hadn't realized she was pushing herself away. That most of the time, her mother couldn't even find her, or that fact she always seemed sad and angry, and never wanted to talk.

She looked at the handsome lynx in front of her. His black furry nose twitched rapidly. She had secretly had a crush on him ever since she was 8 years old.

Allow yourself to be loved.

"Let's go find that vase shall we?" She smiled seductively. But she didn't use her charm power. She was done with that. After finding out what it felt like, she never wanted to use it on a boy again.

"But first I need to go shut a window," Taylor said, jabbing his thumb henid him.

"Wait, what?"

So, Sorina's not actually a bad person. Yay. She really fucked up, but jealousy is a powerful and terrible thing. And maybe, with someone to support her, she can become the happy little lynx she was 13 years ago before Doina came to live with them and she felt abandoned. Feel free to send in suggestions for Taylor's middle and last name, cause for some reason I am just drawing a huge blank. I love you guys! I might even get to chapter what 4? 5? for today. We'll see. There quite a good bit of time left.
