Ki Master

Chapter 11

Author Notes: And we are back! With the continuation of last chapter's flashback. Though as I said last chappy I had to separate it with how bloody long I made it. Hope you all are enjoying the series so far(Even Sen said he's going to try reading this story so yay!) I do not own Blue Exorcist.

Last time on Ki Master

Because this man...though she couldn't understand how or why she knew, was one-hundred percent dangerous. Something about him screamed powerful, and that made him interesting. Like a puzzle, xxx wanted to solve this masculine mystery. 'I wish to make a deal with you.'

His statement earned him an odd look from her. Any potential warnings blaring off in her head were gone. What sort of drinks or drugs was this human on. 'A deal? With a demon whom you know is targeting and eating men from your village?' His smile grows a tad bigger, as if amused.

'Indeed.' She laughed then, unable to take him seriously now. 'You've no qualms of me killing your people? Ending innocent individual's lives? A cruel man you are.' Her fingers were still stroking his face, feeling blood and energy move beneath his flesh.

They've been in this position for minutes now. The only change being him offering her a small shrug. 'As you've said before you need to eat too. Not to mention your 'meals' so to speak weren't ones with the purest intentions in life. I never liked them anyways.'

That remark truly made her chuckle. 'What can I say? I have bad tastes in men.' This shouldn't be happening. Her original plan to make him her next victim was completely thrown aside as he laughs at her somewhat serious joke.

'As I mentioned before, I wish to make a deal. One where both parties benefit.' If he didn't have her attention before, he most certainly did now. Her eyes meeting his with confusion. 'How so? I could quite easily claim your life now and continue without care.' Not that she would.

Meeting this lone man has been the most entertaining thing she's done in the past two-hundred or so years she's walked this earth. 'You could absolutely, but I think we both know you wouldn't do this. Besides my terms aren't complicated or malicious by any means.'

She pouts now, he hit the nail right on the head. 'Alright then, I'll bite-what do you desire?' A fang peeked out from her mouth, emphasizing her point. Normally she wasn't one for jokes or obnoxious puns, but it has been quite some time since she's had...company.

Or rather company that didn't wish for her body or later on become food. 'Though I don't mind the victim's you've chosen, my father and the rest of the exorcists are not happy with you. I wish for you to stop hunting. In exchange, you may use me to sustain you until my life is no longer of this earth.'

It was a ludicrous contract. The way he was making it sound, it seemed like he was more concerned for HER well being then his or his fellow humans. 'You're a strange human. Such an agreement could easily mean death for you.' She could see so many twists and loopholes in this deal.

Even with the admission that he knows exorcists...or his father being one she doesn't pull away. 'Perhaps, but I want to place my trust in you, and this agreement. As it proves with you, there is more to demons then what we're taught by our elders.' His face darkens then, twisting in a malice so strong.

'Why? And why choose me? We both know I'm not the only one that hunts these grounds.' Even now she can hear them, watching within the shadows. 'If I may be honest, I detest the mindset most exorcists feel towards demons. I'd rather try and make sincere compromises then mindless slaughter.'

She drops her hands then, moving back so he can stand. Much to her surprise he has a good several inches on her, making his presence seem much more intimidating than what he truly is. A shiver wracks her frame as he takes ahold of one of her hands.

Giving a small bow before applying a peck to her wrist, her eyes widen in surprise. 'As for why I asked for you?' Especially when he flashes a grin at her reaction. He was seriously throwing her off balance. Within the last twenty minutes into the night, she's seen so many different sides of this one man.

Were all humans like this or was it just him? 'There are many reasons, but the main two being that-I wanted to meet this infamous moonlit beauty that walks the streets at night. And you are the only demon that approached me when I called.'

Any one of the demons could have come, whether they intended to eat or kill him it didn't matter. These last four days he has waited patiently, and would wait as many nights as needed until one came before him. The fact that she did out of curiosity and slight hunger more than anything else sealed it for him.

For the longest time he's been taught that demons were wicked beings that had to be destroyed before they brought devastation. The ideas of them being soulless, cruel monsters with nothing but instincts guiding them ingrained into his brain were happily shattered with her arrival.

Not to say he was naive to state or even assume all demons were good beings. Far from it, but it was clear from this conversation alone meant there was more to life then demons versus humans. Or as his father liked to put it, good versus evil. The good side being the faithful humans.

It was a load of dung in his opinion, he's seen humans just a terrible and bloodthirsty as demons. And in some heartbreaking moments he's seen shreds of humanity in the demons just moments before their demise. 'I'm not sure entirely how far this little agreement will take you...but I promise to follow it.'

This was an experiment for him. A test against his father's teachings, and this demon passed it with flying colors. 'My name is Fan Ling. What are you called?' They may be different beings that lived in worlds far apart. 'I had thrown my birth name the moment I came upon this earth. Call me what you wish.'

However when it came to their hearts, when judgement and bias is cast aside, they weren't so different from one another. 'If that is the case then how about Ming Xia?' She raises an eyebrow at the quick answer and its meaning.

'Clear Halo? What brought this on?' He still hadn't released her hand, if anything he gave a light squeeze. 'You are a demon, but there is a radiance about you, a light that rivals the halos of heavenly angels.' Whether it was a sincere compliment or him waxing poetry it didn't matter.

Never would either of them forget the scarlet blush coating her cheeks as she clears her throat. 'You're truly an odd one...Ling.' Later on she would learn that the true reason he gave her that name. It being his turn to blush when she realizes that was not just because he was truly being affectionate-flirting with her.

But it was also a pen name he made for himself when writing on the philosophy's of what made life the way it is. Creating several books based on his observational theory of Ki as well as the similarities combating the contrasts between humans and demons.

What she was about to do was not something she truly wished. Even with his passing Ming Xia still held her oath of not consuming the life of humans and if she could help it life itself. Though Ling would've probably been angry if he were still alive to see her in this condition.

For demons, promises were important. With a contract in place their magic binds, enforcing the deal with whoever they made it with unless broken or a loophole is found. The agreement she had made with Ling all those years ago had dissipated the moment he passed away.

Actually technically he destroyed the contract between them the moment his father had gone on a massacre of an innocent, isolated village full of pure blood and half breed demons. They were causing no harm to anybody. They were no different then humans.

They were no different from Ming Xia, and his own kin had decimated them, slurring on their poor mistreated corpses. That night he embraced her, holding her tightly, for once enraged and emotional at the horrible loss of life.

His mind full of so much darkness that any demon could've taken advantage of were it not for Ming Xia protecting him. Letting him cry and shout, admitting his fears for her safety. It was that night he swore his life to her, or rather what the humans would say 'ask for her hand in marriage.'

Something that she accepted with similar vows. And now...the one oath she had made with him, the last one she has been able to truly keep despite his death was about to be relinquished. For the sake of her son's future, she had to act.

Sucking a huge breath she lifts her head up, pulling the Ki towards her weakened body. Engulfing her in a bright glow, as energy steadily returned. The theory her husband created when addressing the history of demonic powers alongside the more rare human magics from the ancient era were confirmed true as she stood.

Completely revitalized as if just feasted. Feeling years younger. With narrowed eyes, her senses heightened she crunches her toes into the snow, momentarily pleased to find them react accordingly. Rolling her wrists, the bones beneath the skin moved accurately, no pain or hesitation to be found.

She could move, she could fight. With a fanged grin she began running, somewhat surprised with herself as she flashed by hordes of trees. It wouldn't take long at all for her to catch up to them. And she couldn't wait till she did. "Messed with the wrong demon mama asshole."

Author Notes: Did I just end it on yet another cliffhanger? Yes. Yes I did and I have no shame! I know it may bug some people especially since my work is usually done by word limits but if I can't read and enjoy my own work via editing, i'll never finishing this story.

Not to mention this was a good place to stop since next time we're gonna be continuing from Rin's perspective while Ming catches up to him and the intruding demon. Good stuff to come, but that's for another time.

Everyone thanks so much for reading my story. If you're liking the series so far please feel free to fav/follow/review as it means a crap ton to see some support. See you all later! Tchao for now folks~
