Mac and Stella arrived at the lab. They dusted the mop bucket for prints. They found a few, but most of them belonged to the victim. Mac stared at the mop bucket. He thought of how one would use the bucket: they would dunk the mop into the bucket and then put the mop into the trough and…Mac realized the handle was missing. He thought maybe it could have been used as the murder weapon. He looked at the pictures of the wound again. He knew that wound could have been made by the handle from this bucket.

Danny came in soon with his evidence. "I found the victim's wallet," he said.

"Great," Mac said. "See if you can find any fingerprints on it."

"I'm on it."

"I think I know what the murder weapon was," Mac said. He gestured to the mop bucket. "The handle is missing. I think it was used to kill him."

"Could have," Danny agreed. He took the victim's wallet out of the evidence bag. "No cash in the wallet. His ID is here, however."

Mac took the license and dusted it for prints too, but only the victim's prints were there. "At least we have an address now," he said.

Danny fumigated the wallet and found three prints. He ran them through the system. One belonged to the victim, but the other two were unknown. "No matches on two of these prints," he said.

Mac knew that left John Orr out as a suspect. His prints were in the system already, but they weren't on the wallet. "I'm going down to the morgue to see what Sheldon has found," he said.

"I'm going with you," Stella said. "I tested that water sample. Nothing but cleaner, water and some dirt. No traces of blood, but that could have been compromised by the chemicals. The blood spatter definitely belonged to the victim."

Mac and Stella went to the elevator and went down to the morgue. Dr. Hawks was there, as well as Peyton. She immediately saw Mac when he came in. Stella saw too. Mac went over to Sheldon. "You find anything?" Mac asked.

"There was some substance in the victim's hair and in the wound," Sheldon said. He handed Mac a swab. "I took samples of that. His stomach contents were unremarkable, only chips and a soda."

"What about the wound?" Mac asked. "Could it have been made by the mop bucket handle?"

"I suppose."

They looked at the wound. Stella couldn't help but notice Peyton looking at Mac. Stella felt jealous. She moved closer to Mac, just to let Peyton know that she alone could touch him. Mac noticed Stella pressing up against his side. He was trying to concentrate on the wound. "I think he was hit maybe twice," Sheldon said. "Maybe the first lick knocked him down, and the second was the killing blow."

Mac thought a moment. "How could all this go on out there and no one sees?" he wondered out loud.

"That closet was kinda secluded," Stella said.

"But wouldn't they make some kind of noise?"

"I don't know."

Peyton wandered over to the table. "Very interesting case, isn't it?" she asked.

"Yes," Mac said. "Someone killed this guy in Grand Central station, and nobody saw or heard anything."

"Perhaps the killer knew no one would notice there."

Stella avoided the desire to roll her eyes. Mac did not like all this tension. He wished Stella could just relax. He had told her how he felt this morning. Did she think he was so fragile that his heart could be whisked away against his will? He supposed his heart was fragile, but he would not just be dragged away by a pretty face. A pretty face? Did he think Peyton was pretty? He supposed she was pretty. Then again, Stella was beautiful. Of course, his feelings for Stella were way beyond her looks. He wanted her to be the rest of his life. He had no desire for anyone else.

Stella definitely wanted to explore every aspect of her relationship with Mac. She could never want anyone as much as she wanted him, but she knew he had a delicate heart, and she had to be very gentle with it. She wondered if he was really ready for a passionate relationship like theirs. He had expressed his doubts that morning. He was afraid of the passion he felt when they kissed. Stella knew she wasn't afraid of it, but she had not been through what he had. He had a long loving marriage. Stella wanted that with Mac. If he asked her to marry him today, she would say yes.

"Stella," Mac was saying.

Stella stared at him a moment. She realized she had been zoned out in her thoughts. "I'm sorry," she said.

Mac stared at her a moment, that line in his forehead creased. "Lets go back to the terminal and see if we can find the murder weapon," Mac said.

"Okay," Stella said.

Stella followed Mac to the elevator. She gave Peyton a haughty look as she passed by her, making sure Mac didn't see it. Sheldon saw it, however. He almost grinned. He didn't know what it was about, but he thought Mac and Stella must be pursuing a relationship. He didn't know what Peyton had to do with that. Was she sparking at Mac?"

Peyton noticed Sheldon's smile. "What's that about?" she asked. She and Sheldon had worked together about as long as Mac and Stella.

Sheldon looked at her. "I couldn't help but notice that little exchange between you and Stella," he said. "Are you interested in Mac?"

"He's so handsome and his eyes are so full of passion. Of course, I'm interested."

"I think Stella has already staked that claim."

"That's what I think too, but I can see something in his eyes. He's not certain of himself yet."

"If Mac is dating Stella, he's not going to jeopardize that."

"I would never try to hurt him or Stella." Peyton smiled. "He's not taken yet."

"Good luck."

Mac and Stella got into the elevator. Stella folded her arms. "What's the matter?" Mac asked.

"Nothing," Stella lied.

"Stella, I know you're hiding something from me."

"I just don't like the way she looks at you. And what business did she have coming over to the table?"

Mac looked at her a moment. "I thought we had already had this conversation," he said. "I told you I am a one woman man, and I'm sure I've found the love of my life, if she would stop being so insecure."

Stella stared at him a moment, unsure of what to say. "I'm sorry," she finally said.

"You mean a lot to me, Stella. I would never break your heart like that."

"Forgive me for being so childish."

"I forgive you."

Mac smiled his sly smile. "I might be a little jealous too," he said.

"Maybe you should come to my art class this Tuesday," Stella said.

Mac raised his eyebrows. "Why? Have you got some guy there?"

"Well, there is this guy who…"

"Never mind. I'll go with you."

Stella laughed, and just then the elevator doors opened at the lobby. They went out to the car and headed back to the terminal. Mac glanced at her as he was driving. "Do you really think I'm that irresistible?" he asked.

Stella gave him that look that made his heart skip a beat. "You are to me," she said.

"How come you've never said anything to me before?"

"Because, I wanted to wait for you to be ready. I know what you went through when Claire died, and I wasn't about to hurt you in any way."

"How did you know I would finally come around?"

Stella thought a moment. "Because I knew true love always comes together."

Mac looked at her. "I was so unsure of myself when I started to ask you out. I didn't know how it would turn out."

"I know. You had to feel your way through." Stella smiled. "Do you like what you found?"

Mac smiled. "I 'love' what I found. That's what surprises me, is how easy it was for me to admit that I love you. I never thought I would love anyone again. But it was easy to do once I 'let' myself do it."

Stella wanted to cry. She loved him so much. She knew every word he said was coming from his heart. She had to bite her lip to keep from crying, but one tear did slide from her eye. Mac noticed it. "You're crying," he said, sounding a little alarmed.

Stella looked at him. "Only a tear of joy," she said.

Mac stared at her a moment, and then that gentle smile was back. He stopped at a red light. Stella leaned over and kissed his cheek. "You've made me the happiest woman in this world," she said.

"I'm glad," Mac said. "Because I'm the happiest man."

They arrived at the terminal. Stella walked close to Mac. She had a smile on her face that even the dire circumstances of this case couldn't wipe away. She had finally found true love, and it wasn't some sex driven passion, it was real. She felt like holding her head high and feeling proud. Of course, she had done that before, but now, it was different; she had found the love of her life, and he would never leave her side.

"Lets look everywhere," Mac said. "It could be in another janitor's closet or it could be thrown in some corner."

"This is turning into a long hunt," Stella said.

"I'm thinking it probably isn't far from the murder scene, because the murderer wouldn't want anyone to see him carrying it."

"Hopefully, there'll be some fingerprints on it."

"If one of them matches the ones on the wallet, all we have to do is find the person they belong to."

"Lets get hunting."

Mac and Stella searched the entire area. They started at the closet and went out from there. Stella finally found the murder weapon shoved behind a lost and found umbrella stand. She pulled it out slowly. It even still had blood on it. She put it into an evidence bag. She got her phone and called Mac.

"Taylor," he answered.

"I found it, Mac," Stella said. "It even has blood on it."

"Great, meet me at the car."

Mac headed for the car, but before he got out of the terminal, someone bumped into him. "Excuse me," Mac said.

"Hey," the guy said. "I know who killed that guy."

Mac stared at the guy. "What did you say?" he asked.

"I know who killed that guy."

Mac noticed the guy was wearing a hoodie and trying to keep his face hidden. "How do you know?" Mac asked.

"I was around."

"Who did it? Why didn't you come forward sooner?"

"I didn't have a chance until now."

"Tell me who did it."

"It was that guy who got fired the other day. They're cutting back, you know."

"You know that guy's name? How do you know he was fired?"

"I was fired too. His name is Sean Pendleton."

Mac took out his notepad and wrote that down. "Did he know that Jason Timber carried around a lot of cash?" he asked.

"Everybody knew that. Hey, I gotta go."

"Wait a minute."

The guy was walking away fast. Mac went after him, but he lost him in the crowd that had accumulated in the terminal now. Mac blew out a breath. He went out to the car. Stella was already there waiting for him. "Where were you?" she asked. She could tell by the look on his face that he was on the trail.

"I just met somebody in there who says a guy named Sean Pendleton killed Jason Timber. He says he was fired a few days ago. You take that murder weapon to the lab. I'm going in here to see the Superintendent again."

"Okay."

Mac went back into the station and back to the Superintendent's office. He knocked on the door. "Come in!" someone inside yelled.

Mac opened the door. The superintendent was in there. "Oh, it's you again," he said.

"Yes, me again," Mac said. "I want to know if you fired a guy named Sean Pendleton a few days ago."

"Just a minute." The man typed in his computer. "Yes, he was let go just like everyone else who had not been here more than five years."

"Have you seen him around here since then? Has he threatened anyone or called?"

"He did come here complaining that he had a family to support and I let him go instead of some of these old people who were about to retire anyway."

"And you couldn't share that information with me this morning?"

"I didn't think of it."

"Well, chances are, this guy killed Jason Timber to steal his money."

"I don't know anything about it."

Mac got up. "Thanks for your cooperation."

Mac walked out of the office and headed out to the front of the building. At least he had a name now. If they could find that guy and check his prints, they could compare them to the prints from the murder weapon and the wallet. Mac hoped it would be that easy.
