I glanced at Stu after saying yes, and he gave a quick nod before making more phone calls. Drew pulled me for a quick kiss and I smiled at him. I rejoined Liz and Vero, and I was grateful for them. I shot Becky a text where I was and what was going on before I turned my attention back to the game. We were watching it as Drew, Stu, and Finn really got into it.
"They are going to pan to Drew in a moment, and you need to join him Jodi." I said as I looked surprised.
"You look great." Vero said and Liz smiled at me before walking over to Drew in the window. They were doing a penalty kick, and if it went it they were going to get Drew's reaction. I guess the royals really could plan out ever detail. I was watching with him when they scored and he cheered with Stu as I clapped before he reached over and kissed me. I heard the cheering get louder as we kissed. We finally broke apart and looked out. People were screaming and cheering while facing us. Drew waved and I gave a quick wave before ducking back to where Liz and Vero were.
"You did great!" Liz said as Vero handed me a shot. We toasted and I downed the shot as they chuckled at me. Drew came over with Stu and Finn as we did another shot. He kissed me and I returned it before smiling. I excused myself a second later to run to the bathroom. I actually just needed a moment for myself. I stood there and looked in the mirror... if I knew anything it was that my name and photo was now out there. I knew that I should be happy, but honestly... I was scared. I didn't know exactly how much things would change, but I knew that it was coming. I heard a knock and my head shot up to see Stu peaking in. I turned to face him as he slipped inside and locked the door behind him. We stood there and looked at each other for a second before he stepped towards me, and I put a hand out to stop him.
"What are you doing?" I asked him and he sighed.
"I wanted to check on you." he said and I nodded, but didn't want him to come any closer.
"I'm fine." I said and he smirked, but shook his head 'no'.
"No you aren't. I can tell. You are a good actress though." he said and I pursed my lips. I wanted to smack him for saying I was an actress. I was enjoying my time with Drew.
"I am fairly certain that it's not the prince's secretary's job to make sure that his girlfriend is alright after throwing her into the public view." I said and he sighed. He ran a hand through his hair and I could tell that he was frustrated as he struggled for what to say.
"Jodi..." he was saying and I cut him off. I didn't really want to talk to him, and I certainly didn't want to get caught with him in here.
"I am fine, Stu... thank you." I said as I walked around him, and back to the sky box. I was handed a beer and put on a smile.
The rest of the game went well and his team won. They got more pictures of us cheering and celebrating. I really had no idea what was going on since I hadn't seen a soccer game in a while. We left via a back tunnel. I told Liz, Vero, and Finn goodbye. I was going to dinner tomorrow night with Liz and meeting her husband. Stu left in his car, and I was riding with Drew.
"You did great." he said and smiled at me as he walked me to my door.
"Thank you... I was nervous." I said and he chuckled.
"You couldn't tell... you are a natural." he said as he pressed his lips to mine. I let myself fall into the kiss as I pulled him closer. He chuckled as we pulled away, and dropped a kiss to my forehead.
"I will see you tomorrow after work." he said and I chuckled before letting myself into my apartment. Margo met me, and I put the leash on her. I grabbed a hat and took her for a walk. I needed a moment to myself.
Drew POV
I was heading back when I got word that I had been requested to come to the palace. I knew that they had been made aware that I was going to show that Jodi was my girlfriend, so I figured that it had something to do with that. I got there and was told that my father was in the study. I knocked and heard a 'come in'. I walked in to see my father waiting with Stu. I shot him a look and he gave me the 'no idea' look which told me that it was something else.
"I saw that you told people you have a girlfriend." he said and I nodded.
"Yes, I really like Jodi." I said and he nodded.
"Good, well what are you going to do when she leaves you because of this?" he asked me as he handed me a piece of paper. I looked at it and shook my head.
"That's a lie." I said and he nodded as I handed it to Stu. I was pissed now. The last thing I wanted was Jodi to see this and leave me. I had finally found someone I liked, and didn't care that I was the prince.
"It probably is, but in the court of public opinion... we can't lose son. I thought I told you to keep it in your pants, and stay out of the public view." he said as I ran a hand over my face.
"I haven't done anything with anyone since I met Jodi." I said and he nodded as my mother came stomping into the room.
"Stu, we will inform you how we want to handle this... leave." she said. He bowed and quickly left the room. I sighed as I heard the door shut behind me.
"You are snorting coke?" my mother screeched at me. I was hoping that she didn't know yet, but that was not the case. I knew that they were both briefed at the same time, but Mother usually reacted worse than Father. She was much more worried about public opinion. The picture wasn't even me!
"No, I didn't, Mother... I..." I was saying and she slapped me. I sucked in my bottom lip and sighed.
"I was really hoping that this girlfriend would help you." she said and I wanted to scream at her that she was helping me.
"I have not slept with anyone in weeks, I don't do drugs, and I am doing all my appearances. I wouldn't be able to do that if I was on drugs. I'm also sure that Stu or someone in the palace would have told you before this report." I said and my Dad gave a sarcastic applause. I shot him a look and he shot one back.
"I cannot deal with either of you. Liz can't keep her husband happy, and you keep too many people happy." she said and I felt anger as she brought up Liz's marriage.
"It's not her fault that her husband is a fucking jerk." I said as my mother backhanded me.
"Do not use that language with me." she said and I nodded knowing that nothing I would say now would make it better. She threw up her hands and left the room.
"I will have this fixed, but Drew people are watching you now more than ever. It is in your best interest not to fuck it up." Father said. I nodded and let myself out of the room. I left and headed to my cottage on the backside of the palace. I was happy to get out of there. I couldn't believe this would happen when things were going so well. I got there to find Stu waiting on me.
"I see you survived." he said and I chuckled.
"Yes, but I'm not happy about this." I said and he nodded.
"We have already issued a stop on the story and they are pushing you and Jodi." he said and I nodded.
"Thank you for that." I said and he chuckled.
"You really like Jodi, don't you?" he asked me and I chuckled.
"I do... I was just going to adopt the dog, but I found it so easy to talk to her. She didn't care that I was the prince, and actually came hold a conversation. I really like her." I admitted and he nodded.
"I'm glad you do." he said and I felt like something wasn't right.
"Are you alright?" I asked him and he nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine." he said, but I didn't totally believe him.
"You don't like her, do you?" I asked him and he looked at me surprised.
"No, she's amazing. She fits into your lifestyle perfectly." he said and I was surprised to hear that. He had never really liked anyone I had dated, and never called them amazing.
"Yeah, she does." I said.
He went over my schedule for tomorrow before heading out for the night. I turned on the telly and smiled when I saw that most everything was about me and Jodi.
