A/N: Hey, y'all! This is the final chapter to this story, I hope you enjoy it! Please tell me what you think about it in the reviews! See you soon ;)
In the next six months they prepared for the wedding. It would be a simple ceremony and a reception, both to be held in Suna, but before they actually got down to business, they still had to deal with the rage of a preteen. And that preteen was, nonetheless, a Uchiha. Daughter of Sakura and Sasuke. Just do the math… an incredibly stubborn girl.
She actually didn't think about the proportions of her mother's new love interest, she never thought she would actually marry the guy, but now here she was, having to face the most important change in her life: leaving her beloved Konoha.
"Mama… I can't leave. You can't leave! You're the head of the hospital! And what about the clinic?"
Sakura had already taken care of everything since Gaara proposed to her. Tsunade agreed to return to her post as head of the medic department and Ino would be in charge of the Children's Hospital Sakura founded after the war. Her mentor didn't hesitate to take her position back and Ino felt honored to be heading the clinic she helped Sakura manage all these years.
She felt a pang of pain in her chest whenever she thought about her departure, but a new chapter in her life was beginning now. In Suna, all was taken care of, too, for the medics with which she had worked during her research and the war admired her very much and looked forward to having her in their medical team.
When Sakura announced to Sarada that she was getting married to Gaara, the girl felt like her world was falling apart. She would have to move to a completely different village, live in a strange house and team up with shinobi she had never met before.
Sakura took her time explaining to her all the reasons why they would have to move to Suna, but Sarada would cry and tell her she would rather be homeless than move to another village.
With a lot of effort and help from Sarada's friends, Sakura managed to convince her to move.
"Sweetie, I know this is hard for you, but think about all the new things that you will do there! You will live in a new house, meet new friends…"
"Mama, I'm doing this just for you."
On the wedding day everything went smoothly, according to plan. They had their simple ceremony at the patio behind the mansion, which was decorated with little twinkle lights. The reception was held in a huge hall inside the mansion; the tables were round, with plain white tablecloths over them and tiny pots of cactus as decoration. And most importantly, all their friends were gathered there to witness their most joyful moment.
After the first month living in Suna, Sarada was getting used to her new life. She really missed her home land, but life here wasn't that bad. Her new team and new friends were really interesting people and shared a lot of their experiences with her. Besides, she was getting along with her step brother, Shinki.
Sakura and Gaara couldn't be happier with each other. She was working hard at the hospital and at the clinic, and each day adapting to the new circumstances. He was overflowing with happiness; his usual blank demeanor became softer and he would even smile at his subordinates every now and then.
One night, after having a long and great sex, they talked about how they got together.
"You know," Sakura started, "it was really irresponsible of you not to mind using a condom or even asking me if I was on the pill that first time we slept together. What if I had gotten pregnant?"
Gaara smiled sweetly at her, "I assumed you were taking something. And it wouldn't be in the ideal circumstances, but I wouldn't mind having a child with you."
"But at that time we had nothing between us. Could you imagine the scandal for you? The Kazekage, getting a foreign woman knocked up… Something to think about."
"Are you still taking anything?"
"Yeah."
Two months after this conversation, Sakura was home, preparing an afternoon snack when she started feeling sick. Her head was dizzy and the smell coming from the chicken the housemaid was preparing made her want to puke. She ran to the nearest toilet and threw up everything she had eaten that day.
"Sakura-sama, are you okay?" The maid hurriedly asked.
"Yeah, I guess I ate some treats after lunch that didn't go well for me, that's all. I'm alright, don't worry."
The next morning she woke up even more dizzy. She couldn't eat anything set on the table before her during breakfast, so she decided to eat later at the hospital. When she sat on her chair, the phone rang, it was Ino.
"Hey gurl, what's up?"
"Hey, Ino. Not much. I'm feeling sick these days, though."
"Feeling sick? Is it the food you eat there?"
"I don't know, I'm used to the food here; it's not so different from Konoha's food. They just don't eat fish, for obvious reasons, of course."
"Um, do you think there's a possibility that you're, you know -"
"Pregnant?" Sakura scoffed. "There's no way I'm pregnant, I'm on the pill and - " She became paralyzed. Sakura put two and two together, and the answer to her mysterious sickness was clear now.
"Sakura?"
"Pig… my period is late, I'm feeling sick - "
"Wait a sec there, Forehead. Aren't you on the pill? Because if you are there's no way you're pregnant, you're right about that… unless…"
"Damnit, Ino, I've just remembered something… some time ago I kept forgetting to take the pill and I had sex many times and I completely ignored the possibility of getting pregnant."
"You better take a test to check that, hun."
Sakura took the blood sample herself and took it to the lab. She asked the nurse in charge to be discreet about the test and deliver her the results as soon as possible. She sat back on her chair and panicked for a little bit. I'm almost 35 and I'm pregnant again… What will Gaara say about this? And Sarada…
A soft knock came to her door and a brown haired male nurse stepped inside her office. He gave her the results and reassured her that no one but him knew about this test. Sakura wanted to wait until she got home to open up the envelope but she couldn't suppress her curiosity anymore.
She opened up the envelope and took the paper from inside it. She closed her eyes for a second and gulped. Her eyes scanned the result from the blood test: it was positive.
She laid down beside Gaara, who was almost asleep, and began, "Remember when you said you wouldn't mind having a child with me?"
"Yeah," he answered, with his eyes closed.
"I hope you still don't mind it."
Gaara shot his eyes open and propped himself on one elbow. He stared at her with surprise gracing his pale features. "Are you saying… that you're pregnant?"
"Yes… we're having a baby…"
On her fourth month of pregnancy, she received a most welcome visit; Ino was in the village. They went to take Sakura's ultrasound to check on the baby's health.
"Forehead, you're too big. Were you this big when you were pregnant with Sarada?"
"No. But we'll see what's going on after the ultrasound exam. Oh, and we'll find out the sex of the baby!"
"What did you say just now?" Sakura asked the doctor in front of her.
"That's right, you're having twins. Two boys, by the way." The doctor beamed at her while congratulating her for such a healthy pregnancy. When she asked Sakura if she was under some treatment to conceive twins, she was surprised to hear that her pregnancy wasn't even planned.
Four years later
Sarada stood in their backyard with her arms crossed at her chest. Her long, black hair waved with the blowing of the wind. She intently stared at her little brothers playing on the sand while Shinki sat between them, regretting his decision to let one of them play with his hair.
Satoshi and Kaoru were identical twins, except for a few massive differences.
Satoshi was redheaded and had spiky hair like his father, but his explosive personality was all Sakura. The first time he opened up his eyes, Sakura and Gaara had a sweet surprise: his eyes were mismatched, a rare occurrence of heterochromia. His left eye was clear blue and the right one was a shade of green exactly like his mother's. He was quick to learn and to notice the subtlest of changes or differences and, although he was still an infant, he was prone to have Sakura's strength, given the fact that he could easily destroy his toys in minutes, using his tiny hands.
Kaoru had silky pastel pink hair, like Sakura's, with red ends. His jade eyes and quietness copied his father's suave expression; he had a natural talent for manipulating sand and would often mimic his uncle's movements when he controlled his puppets with chakra strings.
Sakura squeezed her daughter's shoulders lightly and smiled at her, standing by her side. "Keeping an eye on the twins?"
"Yeah. They're so precious to me… I'll protect them at all costs, Mama."
Sakura hugged Sarada tightly then turned her eyes back to the little boys tugging at Shinki's hair. "You know, Sarada… sometimes I feel sorry that I took your dream away. You were so selfless back then… I am grateful that you respected my decision and moved here with me."
Sarada frowned. "My dream? You didn't take it away from me, Mama. As far as I know I am a citizen from this village now and I can steal Gaara's chair."
Mother and daughter giggled and walked towards the pink and red little boys.
Gaara watched them from a distance, leaning over a balcony in the mansion. Kankuro appeared by his side, amused to see his brother's tender smile.
"Those five over there still melt your heart, huh?" He joked.
Gaara turned his face to his brother and answered, "Yeah. I never thought I would have such a huge family."
"You're lucky to have them. Well, I am lucky too; those little demons are my life… I am really happy for you, brother."
"Kankuro… Thank you, for everything."
Kankuro patted him on the back and turned on his heels to leave. A few minutes later Sakura hugged him from behind.
"Hey… is everything ready? I'm really excited to go to Konoha, I miss everyone there…"
"Yeah, we're ready. Listen… I love you so much, Sakura. I can't imagine my life without you and I want to grow old with you."
Sakura stood on her tiptoes and kissed him. "I want that too. I love you."
They were interrupted by the little boys running towards them. Sakura took Kaoru in her arms while Satoshi sat on the floor playing with some toy.
"How cute are these tiny bits of people?" She said, running her fingers softly on Kaoru's hair.
"Our tiny bits of people. Bits of me and you."
