Struggle For Trost Part I: The Breach

Eren immediately took charge. "Mounted Cannon Maintenance Squad 4! Take down the Colossal Titan! This is it people! Do or die!" Swinging along the wall he flipped using ODM before landing on top of the wall.

"You! It's been 5 years!" Eren yelled. Yelling he charged the Colossal, he jumped over it's arm using ODM to boost himself as the Colossal swept it over the top of the wall, destroying the cannons. Eren barely managed to avoid a second bout of steam. He propelled himself in the air using gas.

'He went for the cannons! And that gate was no accident either! He has intelligence!' He dodged the Colossal Titan's attempt to grab at him and latched on to his arm. Swinging upward, he landed along his elbow, using the ODM to propel himself along the arm. He swung around, flinging himself in direct view of the nape, and just as he was about to slash it, another explosion of steam sent Eren flying backward. However, his ODM was still attached on his nape, but by the time the steam cleared, the Colossal had vanished. Leaving nothing but debris and a broken gate behind.

Eren latched onto the wall, looking around wildly. 'I missed? No... it vanished!' Thomas ran to the edge

"Did you beat it Eren?!" He asked,

"No! It's just like 5 years ago, he appeared, busted the gate, and vanished before the military could react!" Eren replied. He climbed the wall and hung his head,

"I'm sorry, I let him get away." Eren apologize

"Hey, don't apologize. Look at us. We were to scared to even fire our ODM." Thomas said

"We got no time for that! We need to hurry and seal the breach before the titans get in!" Connie yelled at them. Just then, a Garrison member came up to them.

"What are you doing?! The Colossal Titan Response Operation is already underway! Anyone who saw it needs to report to HQ and regroup!"

"Sir! We pray for the advance team's success!" Connie said.

Trost Military HQ

"Listen up! You cadets have successfully graduated and are now proper soldiers! I have high hopes for you in this operation!" No one really listened to him. Alto was making sure he was fully stocked on blades and gas. As well as made sure his Equipment worked.

"Hey...uh, Alto." Mina came up to him. "I just wanted to thank you for saving my life back there."

"No problem. Be more careful next time alright?" Alto said, his face softened, "Seriously. Don't die out there." He patted her head and turned to walk away.

She looked down, "Don't die either." She whispered.

"Alright Jaeger Squad 34 move out!" Alto roared,

"Jaeger Squad?" Thomas cracked,

"Sounds way cooler than Arlelt Squad or Wagner Squad. Admit it, Eren's the only one of us with a remotely cool name."

"Alright. Yeager Squad move out!"

HQ Courtyard

"Cadets! Your mission is to perform resupply, message relay, and in extreme cases, Titan Clearing duties under the command of the Garrison Regiment! The Garrison's Intercept Squad will take the Vanguard! The Cadets, led by the Support Squad, will take the Middle Guard! And the Elites will take take the Rearguard! I have also recieved word the Advance Squad has been wiped out! The outer wall has indeed been breached! And Titans are in Trost! In short! It is highly likely the Armored Titan will reappear!"

"Alto. If the Armored Titan appears you'll have no choice but to engage in Titan-to-Titan combat." Astell advised. "ODM gear nor the small caliber of our Cannons is enough to defend against it."

"Right." Alto nodded.

"I'm sure you're also aware desertion is punishable by death!" These words were accompanied by an almost gleeful tone, as if Captain Woerman wanted someone to desert just so show he could enforce power. "Dismissed!"

"Right!" The cadets scrambled in all directions. Daz stopped and retched. Jean kneeled, his face in his hands.

"Damn... why today... tomorrow I would've been long in the Interior!" Alto heard as he passed. He sighed, and headed outside the HQ.

Outside HQ

The situation was dismal. The Advance Team had been wiped out by the inital onslaught of Abnormals which had effectively shattered the defenses. And the Vanguard was being absolutely decimated by the same abnormals.

Alto nearly retched as he passed all the dead. 'That's reality for you' He thought grimly.

"We got three 10 meters coming up on the right flank!" Two Garrison members soared by him. Alto followed them. He nearly froze at the Titans,

'Eren saw these... things? And still wants to fight them?!' He thought, 'No wonder Jean is scared...' Alto felt like pissing his own pants.

"Hey Cadet! Do us a favor and try not to soil your pants!" The first garrison member called

"R-right." Alto hooked on to a titan, swinging around it. However, the titan caught his ODM wire, and yanked on it throwing Alto to the ground 'Shit!' He quickly reeled it in and jumped out of the way, barely avoiding being snatched by another Titan. He fired his gear again this time latching onto the throat and swung around, slicing out it's nape. 'Alright! First kill!' He thought gleefully as the Titan fell.

"Alto!" The rest of Jaeger Squad came up. "You did that?" Mina asked him looking at the ste

"Kid got lucky. This bastards are smarter than we think, even the normals. Got his ODM wire yanked." One of the Garrison members said.

"Heh! Even you're not as good as your grades!" Eren said, then he turned to armin. "Hey. Armin. This is a perfect chance dont'cha think? Think about it! We take care of business here without even joining the scouts we'll rise up the ranks faster than anyone else!"

Armin grinned "Yeah. No question about it."

"One kill for me!" Alto bragged,

"You may've beaten us to the punch once. But you won't get us next time!" Mina replied

"Let your blades do the talking Mina!" Thomas drew his blades. "Whoever kills the most Titans wins!"

"Don't go fudging the scores!" said Milieus.

"Squad 34! Move out! Reinforce the Vanguard!" Called one of the two Garrison

"Alright! Lets go!" Eren roared, accompanied by the cheers by the rest of Jaeger Squad. Eren took the lead, zipping through the streets of Trost and swinging along the buildings then they reached the area the Vanguard were holding

Or was holding.

"Holy crap... that many Titans?!" Mina exclaimed

"The vanguard has been completely routed!" Thomas shouted

"Those hot shots are always talking tough! What the hell happened?!"

Alto said nothing, he expected something like this, but seeing it was a whole different story.

"An Abnormal!" Eren screamed,

"Thomas!" Alto tried reaching out, but the Abnormal was seconds faster. Alto zipped by before the Abnormal could grab him.

'Oh god..' Alto landed on a roof with the rest of Jaeger Squad and watched in horror as Thomas was slowly sucked into the Titan's mouth

"Help...me..." He gasped. The Abnormal finally swallowed him before turning and walking away.

Eren hung off the side of the roof, his face suddenly turned into an expression of burning anger. "WHERE THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING?!" He screamed, shooting out both wires, he swung through the streets.

"Eren don't run off on your own!" Milieus called before following him.

"Eren wait!" Armin followed after Milieus, proceeded by the rest of Squad 34.

"GET BACK HERE DAMN YOU! HOW DARE YOU EAT THOMAS!" He screamed insults as he ran along the roof and used his ODM to hurl himself at the Abnormal.

"I WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY WITH THIS!" He screamed, right as he prepared to slice out it's nape, a crawler lept up at him snapping off one of his legs and throwing him off balance, sending him careening into a building.

"Eren!" Armin yelled, as the rest of Squad 34 tried to help him, Nack was snatched by a 10 meter. Then a 4 meter emerged from the shadows, and yanked on Mina's wire, slamming her against the wall and rendering her unconscious

"MINA!" Alto swung himself around "HANG ON!" He boosted his way to the Peering Titan, and slashed the side of it's head. Drawing it's attention. "Don't even think about eating her bastard!" He yelled, he shot past it's hand as it tried reaching for him and snatched Mina, taking her up to the safety of the rooftops. He looked around, and saw nothing but death. Milieus was on the cusp of being eaten by a 9 meter. The titan that grabbed Nack was licking the blood off it's lips. 'Why...why can't I do anything.' He turned to see Armin being picked up and dropped into a titans mouth. 'Was...was I really ready for this?' He fell on his knees.

Suddenly, faster than he could see, Eren was up in a flash despite losing his leg, and grabbed Armin from the Titan's mouth, forcing it's jaw open. "I... can't die yet!" He ripped Armin out of the Titans mouth and threw him onto the rooftop. "Armin... Listen...You told me about it... so... I have to see it! The outside world..." He reached out for Armin past the Titan's mouth,

And finally, the jaw shut.

And Armin screamed.
