Chapter 10 Together
Ren's POV
Nora and I were in our room and packing our bags as we got ready to leave Tengoku.
"This is so exciting", the former squealed in excitement. "I can't believe that you and I got into the Beacon Academy! It's that great?!"
"It is", I replied. "We're very lucky Nora."
"I'll say", Nora agreed before changing the subject. "Anyway, you and I need to come up with a plan to make sure that we end up on the same team. How are teams formed anyway?"
"I have no idea", I replied.
"And how is the team leader chosen", Nora asked before suddenly getting excited. "Do you think I'll get to be the team leader?!"
"Anything is possible", I replied.
"Probably not though", Nora stated. "I doubt that I'd make good leader material."
"What makes you say that", I asked.
"I don't know", Nora started. "Leaders are supposed to lead people, and I don't know how to do that. I've just been pretty much riding your coattail for the last ten years now! Maybe that means you should be leader instead?"
"I've never led anyone either", I pointed out.
"You could learn", Nora stated before changing the subject. "I wonder who our other two teammates are going to be? I hope that they end up being nice people and not jerk wads like a lot of the kids here", Nora revealed.
"I hope so too", I replied.
"Do you think the kids at Beacon are going to be jerk wads", Nora asked suddenly getting serious. "Do you think that they'll treat us differently because we're kids from the street?"
Seeing that Nora was getting upset, I stopped my packing.
Then...I held her hands in mine.
"I don't know Nora", I replied. "I hope not. But I do know one thing. As long as you and I are together, we're going to be okay."
After I said this, Nora smiled at me before nodding.
"Right", she agreed. "Because in sickness and in health..."
"...we share joy and pain", I finished.
And after I did...Nora hugged me.
"I'm so glad that I met you ten years ago", she revealed. "I don't know where I'd be without you."
"I feel the same way", I revealed.
"Thank you Ren", Nora said. "Thank you for staying with me."
"And thank you for staying with me Nora", I said. "Please always stay by my side."
...
"And that's how Ren and I ended up here."
Nora had just finished telling our story to our friends in our Beacon dorm room.
"That was so beautiful", Jean stated as he cried.
"It really was", Phyra agreed as she put her hand on his shoulder.
"Indeed", Weiss agreed. "However, our break is over, so come on."
"Yes Miss Punctual", Ruby said as she got up.
With that, everybody but Nora and I left.
She smiled at me before holding out her hand, which I took in mine.
"Let's do this together", she stated.
"Together."
