Those two arrived at the hall, looking for their teammates and friends. There were a lot of people today so they didn't really see them anywhere. A lot of exchange students were roaming through the school as well, looking around, attending classes in case they wanted to change schools. Every student had the opportunity in their first years to change school at mid semester so they can study at a place they find appropriate. Some freshmen can't decide between schools so they spend half a year at that specific school and then try out the other one to see which one they prefer for the remaining 3 years.
Now in the Amphitheater, a lot of students waited to put themselves to the test. To analyze what the others can do with their talents and how well they can use that in battle.
Weiss searched for their teammates heavily while Blake was just looking around, processing the sight in front of her. She wasn't a big fan of crowds so this situation wasn't going her way. Weiss poked her side with her elbow so the faunus will get back to the real world.
"Can you help me with the searching? I think you have a better sight." Weiss suggested which was true but Blake didn't care about her teammates at the moment. If it were up to her she would just run out from here without thinking. The heiress knew that she wasn't the most sociable person but this wasn't the perfect time to freak out now.
"Oh right, sorry." She apologized, for nothing actually. She didn't do anything that should earn an apology from her but she said it anyway. She still wanted to look good in Weiss' eyes and she would do anything for her to gain that. She looked around focusing on different kinds of people. She was searching for Yang's dazzlingly bright blonde hair. It wasn't hard to spot that. But she did not find it anywhere and other than that, none of her friends. She did not find any familiar faces from the group of friends they got. The class is going to start soon so where are they?
Just when she formed this question in her head she saw a group of familiar faces appear in the entrance. Well, they did take their time.
"Ahh, so here you are guys!" Yang shouted. She genuinely became happy as soon as she laid eyes on the two in front of her. They walked close to each other, standing in a circle so everyone could see the other. They still have time to have a little talk before class starts.
"How is that, that we arrived here way sooner?" Weiss questioned immediately as Pyrrha wasn't that type of person who would let that happen. She was always the first wherever they went. And if it was up to her, she dragged the others with her. Weiss felt sorry for the rest of Team JNPR as they always woke up way too early for that same reason.
"Yes, it is really a tragedy. We had a little food incident in the cafeteria which all started with Nora throwing a whole apple at Yang's face. It was a horrible sight to witness." She said it, almost shedding tears because of this trivial thing. Although, she was only acting so it can be more dramatic.
"True, true. But you were the first one who joined in on it." Yang stated, getting straight to the point.
"Yes, and after that it became more terrifying." Ruby said this while actual fear appeared on her face. Though, she did not miss out of the fight either.
"I'm telling you Ren, these women are crazy!" Jaune whispered it to Ren not realizing that everyone could hear it. They all started to laugh and the atmosphere became cheerful as they listened to each other's laughter.
Later on they found seats where they could sit down, waiting for Goodwitch to announce today's lesson tasks. The room was pretty noisy as every student had their own little chit-chat and laughters. There were some who even started to argue about some nonsense which they all used to by now. Blake could basically hear everything so her head almost blew up and it didn't take much for her to flee the room if the teacher wouldn't appear at the right time to make the crowd of students silent.
"I welcome everyone in today's class. I know there are a lot of exchange students present this time to observe the fighting or even take part in it. Today we will have a hand to hand combat lesson. Everyone can use any technique they know but if I see someone is about to go overboard I will interfere immediately. For the exchange students, you can choose your partner on your own. If you can't find anyone just come to me. For our students, every team will change partners. For example, Pyrrha Nikos can choose between Lie Ren or Nora Valkyrie, but she can not choose Jaune Arc as he is her partner."
"Oww, you got lucky, Jaune. Now we will be the ones who Pyrrha will beat." Nora said this sadly, hoping that she won't be the one who will get the beating from the red head. Ren on the other hand didn't really care. He was just listening to the teacher with a blank face. It was like he was sleeping with opened eyes. Maybe he was, we may never know.
"I hope everyone understood today's task. Now before we start, I would like everyone to put their weapons in the box that is next to everyone's seat on the right. After you are finished with choosing your partner, you can start your training. If I see anyone slacking off, they will see the consequences later. Good luck, students."
After the speech you could hear the click-clack sound of weapons as everyone put theirs in the box, stretching their arms and shoulders while they prepared for the fight. There were some who already went down there to do their task, and didn't waste much time with the decision of a partner.
"Ouch, Glynda is as strict as ever." Yang stated while she took off Ember Celica. She usually wore her weapon at her all the time as it was on her arm so she didn't have to carry it in her hand. She looked weird without it. Also, she looked just as strong without it as with it.
"No kidding. She won't lure students in the school this way." Nora joined in with Yang.
Weiss did not think about it before but she just realized that she won't have to fight with Blake necessarily. She can fight with Yang as well if the others don't mind. But to be honest Yang was scarier, especially in hand to hand combat. Ruby on the other hand was pretty lame at it. It would be more optimal for Ruby to partner up with Yang as she could teach her a lot of stuff. Weiss was decent in it, although she was feeling down that she had to part with her weapon. She knew that Blake was pretty athletic and she also knew that she is stronger than her. But not as strong as Yang so it would be logical to choose Blake over Yang.
Now, she won't say that she wants to partner up with Blake. That is just out of her character. Although, the others didn't question it but they are supposed to be in an argument. Actually, when she caught up to the faunus in the corridor, she did not tell her what she wanted because she got distracted. So even between them, they have not discussed it yet. Maybe that's why Blake feels that awkward. Weiss hoped she would initiate the suggestion of partnering up with her but the faunus just waited there, looking at the floor. Ugh, she is so hopeless. Until Ruby came and saved everything.
"Hey, Weiss. I think you should go with Blake. You should talk things out." Finally, she is saved. That's why she liked that dunce. She knew what to say at any given moment. Yang was just flexing with Nora to some exchange students. When did those two gather such a crowd? Ugh, just don't pay attention to them. The teacher will take care of that soon. If they are lucky, they will only get away with a few hours detention. It's better than cleaning the toilets.
Her attention went back to Ruby as the girl continued talking. "Although, please don't get violent." Ruby had any reason to worry about that part as they both could be hot-headed sometimes. And after that situation with Blake she had to be extra cautious. Maybe there is something that can trigger it. She was pretty scary today as well when she slammed the door open. At least she was in her right mind at that moment.
"Okay, I will try to keep my cool. But if she doesn't give me any reason to be mad I won't. It's up to her as well." She wasn't actually planning to get aggressive with the faunus. She wasn't mad at her anymore. But she wasn't sure if Blake knew that because she hadn't had the opportunity yet to tell her this. However, when she smiled at her in the corridor, it almost felt like old times. Wait, didn't I just decide I won't like her? She was still struggling with this inside.
For Ruby and Yang, they could understand where Blake was coming from. They could get that it was in the past and other than that night, the faunus didn't show any sign of that old self she described. The whole thing was shocking at first, but they accepted her. They may have kept their caution up with her, at least Ruby did, but she did not see her as a different person. She was still the Blake she met on that first day. They had to clarify this with Blake because they weren't sure what the faunus thought of their reaction. She didn't want for Blake to feel everyone hates her.
"Cool, then I will be with Yang…" As she said this she looked at her way and saw a big crowd gathering around a blonde and a ginger for God knows why. She made an audible 'Ugh' with a straight face. "...as soon as I drag her out of that crowd of people." She looked at Weiss with a frown and a smirk that just shouted 'kill me' then she wished luck for the heiress and disappeared into the mass.
Now, only one thing was left. Let the faunus know that she will be up against her. Well, technically they already discussed this in the corridor that none of them will hold back but now that the time has come, Weiss actually felt nervous. She looked to the direction where Blake stood, still in that same position she was five minutes ago. At least she wasn't reading a book, distancing herself from everyone. In either case, both of her time killing methods were horrible. Well, with reading at least she occupied herself but now she did nothing. She was already starting to get irritated with her. Okay, breathe. You don't want to anger the cat, even if she is annoying by just standing there like an idiot.
She walked up close. The faunus did not move, which proved the point that she was in deep thinking about something. "What are you thinking of?" She said this while leaning close to her face. But not that close.
"That I want to be your partner." Well, she was pretty honest because she wasn't aware she said this out loud. Her mind wasn't in the real world at the moment, but a dream world. Which was centered around the heiress. Nowadays she had these visions, and in it the heiress was always present in some way. We can say that she basically dreamt about her. Which told her a lot. But she can't let herself love that girl because that would just hurt her in the end.
After she finished that sentence and looked at Weiss who gave her a questionable look, she realized she just said that. She threw her hands to her mouth, immediately thinking something to correct herself.
"I mean… we already talked about it… so it would be logical… right?" The stuttering did not help but she hoped Weiss would forget that sentence of hers. Weiss grabbed her hands and pushed them down away from her mouth. Blake was on the verge of becoming a tomato again.
"Yeah, we will be partners in this combat training. Now, can you quit your stupid daydreaming and focus on the task at hand? I don't want to be punished because of you." That absolutely ruined the mood in less than a moment. She needs to work on considering other people's feelings. Blake won't push this though. Weiss let go of her hand and waved with her own, indicating they should start it.
They did just that.
