Inuvember:
Towa
Inuyasha © Rumiko Takahashi
"A baby?"
"That's right, Towa. You're gonna be a big sister!"
Towa, 7 years old, blinked at her adopted father and mother in awe, the latter smiling warmly as she held her hands over her bulging tummy. She walked up to her, gently placing her hands on the bump while Sota smiled at her. Moe tenderly reached her hand down and put Towa's ear to her belly, allowing her to hear a soft heartbeat.
"Wow...!" Towa whispered. "I can't believe there's a baby in there! I thought babies came from bamboo shoots!"
Sota and Moe both laughed at that.
"That was just in The Tale of Princess Kaguya, sweetheart," Moe said. "In real life, it's...a little different."
"Towa, you know what this means, right?" asked Sota as he knelt down in front of his adopted daughter. "Now that you're going to be a big sister, it's up to you to help look after the baby...because that's what big sisters do."
Towa stared at Sota while Moe sat on the couch, waiting for a reply. As she did, Towa's mind momentarily wandered to a time when she was much smaller...and there was someone who she had to look after. Someone who she was separated from, long ago.
She wondered if she was all right.
"Towa?" Moe asked. "Did you hear what Daddy said?"
"...Yeah, I heard him," Towa replied as she walked up to Moe and placed her hands on her belly. "You hear that, baby? I promise I'll look after you."
Sota and Moe smiled at each other before they soon wrapped their arms around each other.
'I'll take care of you,' thought Towa. 'Just like how I took care of Setsuna...'
Yeah, I know, this is the shortest one, but it's the best I could do...I don't watch Yashahime that much.
