EXT. 7th Victim Dumpsite - DAY (Scene 4.1)

The camera opens on Reid, bending down to peer under the drape. He has gloves on but still is hesitant to lift the sheet because of the sheer amount of blood seeping through the sheet

Reid: Brutal. Do we have an id?

Morgan: Yeah, Briar Anderson.

Morgan flips open cellphone

Morgan: Baby girl, what can you tell me about our latest victim Briar Anderson

Garcia: Oh I can tell you all sorts of things, my love

Garcia types away on her computer

Garcia: Briar Anderson, 28, single mom of four year old Brandon- dad not in the picture. Sad, he's probably going to go into foster care

Morgan rests cellphone on his shoulder, looks over to Emily

Morgan: Prentiss, is there a condom wrapper?

Prentiss bends down, looks and nods grimly
Morgan: Penelope, was she HIV positive?

Garcia: Can you read my mind, my brilliant knight? Yes, she was.

Morgan walks back to the group

Morgan: Hotch, she was a mom, but also HIV positive. How does that work?

Reid interrupts Hotch as he begins to talk

Reid: Actually, they've made amazing advances in HIV medical care. It's not like the 80s when HIV was a death sentence. With the right prenatal care , an HIV positive couple can have a healthy child like 95% of the time.

Hotch: That would require some expensive medical treatment right?

Reid nods

Hotch: But Briar was a single mom, she was struggling financially

JJ: What about a women's clinic? Like a planned parenthood?

Prentiss: JJ, we were thinking that the unsub worked in some sort of medical office with access to paper files. A lot of these free women's clinics haven't gotten digital yet, they don't have the budget for it. Derek, is Garcia still on?

Garcia calls out from Morgan's phone

Garcia: Hear ye, Hear ye

Prentiss softly chuckles

Prentiss: Garcia, check if our victims went to a clinic, none of them had partially high paying careers and two were unemployed so it is possible they were all getting treated at a clinic like this, even if they didn't have HIV.

Garcia: Checking now. I'll ring you when I find something

Prentiss: The unsub could see a woman at the clinic, decide he's going to attack her, probably finds her attractive or she does something to anger him, but checks the file to see if she's got HIV.

Morgan: I can't imagine a murderer/rapist caring enough to check for that kinda thing. Why?

Reid: Maybe someone in his life has HIV so he's hyper aware of it.

Rossi: That's a good theory. But more urgently, he's accelerating. He killed Briar less than a week after Claudia. Why the rush? [he shrugs his shoulders as he says this]

Hotch: I don't know. But I do know, this kind of rage driven offender won't stop until we stop him.

The team gives each other a knowing look. Prentiss tilts her head, biting her lip. Reid dusts off dirt from his pants. Rossi is uneasy, knowing the unsub was recently there and his nerves show by him resting his hand on his weapon.

The team follows Hotch's lead back to their SUVs. Hotch, Rossi, JJ and Reid in the first car and Morgan and Prentiss in the second one.

As JJ opens the side door and Prentiss opens the passenger door, JJ turns her head to glance at Prentiss. Something had felt weird about their interactions during this case, but she couldn't quite figure out why.

The tension is thick and obvious to the audience and the camera lingers on JJ's puzzled brow then glances back to Prentiss, who is trying to pretend she didn't notice JJ's eyes on her. She hurries into the car and the scene ends.
