Travelers are stronger then I realized
They can posses people with just one of them casting the spell... one of them, Mia, was able to using her improvised traveler magic to make the possession of Elena by Katherine permanent all by herself. One was able to knock an cross bow bolt away one a wave of her hand and those things move fast yso it had to take some skill and power... Markos could channel all Travelers and Elena and Stefan's blood... Markos could destroy a Traveler blade by himself...
They are not overwhelmingly powerful and have to improvise but they are skilled and at least average in terms of raw power even without the earth giving them power...
How strong would they be if they channeled dark magic and their pride didn't stop them from exploring other types of magic?
Just a thought really...
"What is this place?" Liam gaped, shivering as every cell in his body was bombarded with feelings of magic and death. " I can feel it, a lot of suffering here." He shivered, looking around and about the tomb that Damon had taken him too as soon as school was over. "This place is wild, seriously. It used to be a church, you said?"
Damon nodded, looking sort of less smug then normal. "Pretty much, I never went here much, never was into the whole god thing..." He put his hand on the door to the tomb, which was marked with a pentagram. "It's a bit cliché, but here it is."
"I can see that." Liam walked over to the door and touched it, only to nearly collapsed as a wave of pain filled with visions hit him. " Vampires, there are over two dozen vampires behind here Damon. And you want me to let them out?"
Damon rolled his eyes. " No, I want you to let Katherine out, that's it. I don't care about the others."
"Fine, destroy the rest with fire and I will let out Katherine. I need you to get something to burn their bodies first, then we can do this." He turned to Damon fully, standing as straight and tall as his tiny body would allow. "I can't risk the rest getting out and hurting this town, talk about cover broken. No, do this and she will be free by tonight."
"Not a problem."
"Oh and I would bring something for her to drink, a blood bag maybe? I'm not offering a vein if she is hungry."
Damon just laughed at him. " I like you, you make me laugh."
Liam knew he was blushing then, he couldn't help it. Damon was hot and easy to get along with, vampire or not. "That's better then making you homicidal... anyway, let me get a feel for this spell before we head out." Reaching out, Liam touched the door only to collapse as a wave of agony, fear and terror over took him. Visions danced across his mind's eye. He felt his veins cry out for blood, his body screaming for mercy, desperate cries for freedom magnified over and over. He fell back, shaking as the visions shattered. "There is a lot of pain in there... we are really doing a mercy kill here. Be thorough."
"Will do. So, can you break the spell?"
"I think so... if this talisman is meant for this spell, it should work like a literal key. I just need to link them, like putting the key into the keyhole. Everything else is just... automatic, you know?"
"Sounds easy then, we'll I'll pick you up tonight and we'll get started."
"Lovely."

Liam felt a wave of guilt as he walked towards Sheila's house, a sense of unintentional betrayal heavy on his heart. His desire to get Damon and Stefan away from his family had come at the cost of making a great deal of mistakes. He regretted a lot of them, and needed to make amends as best he could. He still would help Damon by any means but that didn't take away that he had to apologize to Sheila.
Walking into her house, having been given a permanent pass, Aaron followed the smell of tea to the kitchen where Shiela was waiting for him. She looked annoyed. " I wondered when you would be coming. The Spirits tell me you have been helping a vampire, is this true?"
"Sort of... Damon Salvatore wants me to release a tomb of vampires sealed by Emily, your Ancestor. I said yes but only if he kills all but the one he is there to save. I can't kill him, he is too ruthless and violent for my petty powers to do much against. Helping him reduces the causalities and that is the reason I am working for him."
Sheila sighed. "I cannot fault you for that. but I cannot let you open that tomb by yourself. Your not strong enough to manage."
From his pocket, Liam pulled out and showed the talisman. " I just need to link this with the door and boom, it opens. I can tell it won't take a lot power, then I will give Bonnie the talisman to draw from."
"Your a good boy, you know that, right?"
"I try... is all forgiven? I didn't want or mean to hide it, I am not used to having people to trust."
She smiled at him. " Baby, It's fine. You told me and your intentions are pure. I cannot fault you for that. Bonnie will join us, and as a group we will break the spell and destroy the bulk of them. I do believe Damon will leave this town if we do this."
"That is my hope."
"I'm going to show you how to channel objects so they can act as a key to their spell. It is a bit harder then typical channeling and you don't want to mess that up."

From his seat in the Grill, Damon tuned in his hearing to the Mayor and his wife. The reek of alcohol singed in his nose, the women reeked of it. He made a point to not be noticed, waiting for his moment to strike. Ever since her learned that Zach had vervain, he knew their had to be a council again. He needed to be a part of it."
Mr Lockwood, the mayor, almost sneered at his wife. "How many martinis have you had?"
She rolled her eyes. "Oh. Don't start with me."
"Can we go now? We're late for the Halloween party. Let's go"
"So go ahead. I'd like to finish my drink."
Seeing his chance, Damon stood up and walked over to her, sitting in her booth. "Let me guess. Daisy Buchanan. I love a good "gatsby" look."
Recognition appeared in her eyes. " I've met you before. Aren't you Caroline Forbes' boyfriend?"
"Ah, she had a schoolgirl crush on me but...It was cute but I had to let her down easy."
"It's Damon, right?"
"Ah, you remember?"
"Well, you have a face that's hard to forget. What's your last name Damon?"
"Salvatore.
"Salvatore."
"Mm hmm."
"Are you any relation to Zach?
Zach's my uncle. How do you know Zach?" He looked at her, extending with his mind, pushing towards her in an attempt to compel her. His eyes dilated, but he didn't feel anything catch.
She frowned. "Are you okay?"
Damon rubbed his eyes. " Yeah. I think there's something in my eye."
"Well, I know Zach from the Founder's Council. You know the Salvatores were one of this town's original settlers."
"Yes, they were. I wasn't aware that Zach was a member. I just recently moved back home and haven't really had a chance to meet many of his friends."
"Well, will you tell him to return my calls? I've left several messages.""
Perfect, Damon saw his chance. Leaning in he all but whispered. "Zach went out of town for a bit. But if it's about the Vervain..."
"You know about the Vervain?" her surprise was adorable.
"Well, I'm a Salvatore. Of course I do."
Mrs Lockwood took a swig of her martini. "Of course."
"Hmm. Cheers. So you need vervain?
"My husband and I only have left what his parents left him, And Zach had promised that he could supply us with more."
"Well, I talk to him all the time. So why don't I just ask him?"
"Hmm."
"Mmm. How much do you need? I mean, how many people, you think?"
"Well, there's our children, of course."
"Of course."
"And, um, friends, family, and everyone on the council."
"The council?"
"Zach knows how many. But I am so late. My husband is not going to be happy with me."
"Well, are you happy with your husband?"
"You're flirting with me."
"You flirted with me first."
"True.'
"Let me escort you to the school. It's not safe out there alone. I mean, I've seen 10 vampires tonight."
"Heh. well, if only the real ones were as easy to find."
"How's that search goin'?"
"Oh, we had the founder's party, and anyone who arrived during the day was eliminated as a suspect."
"Oh."
"And all the rest were just dead ends, so mmm mmm, I gotta go." She rose from her seat, sending him one last salacious smirk before hurrying off.
Damon sat there for a moment before making a decision. 'I think I'll tell Liam, the least I could do for his help.'
""
Liam, Bonnie and Sheila all made it to the Tomb on time. each of them anxious and eager to complete the spell. "Touch the door, see the suffering inside."
Both Bennetts walked over to the door, placing their hands on it before recoiling in horror.
"Those poor bastards." Bonnie said, her tone filled with pain.
Sheila just sighed. "A mercy killing indeed."
"That's my goal..."
"And mine, sorta. " Damon's sexy voice drew their collective attention as the man walked down to them, a smirk on his face. On his back was a flamethrower, Liam wondered how the hell he got his hands on it. "So, you got them involved, why?"
Liam sighed. " They are both stronger then me, and Sheila is far more skilled. If anyone is going to break this spell it will be the three of us."
"Fair enough. Let's get started."
The witches all gathered together, each grasping hands. In Liam's hands was the Bennett talisman, he drew from it's strength and felt it flow through Bonnie and Sheila, linking them up. The power was heady, strong and mighty, leaving him almost breathless.
"Now, ladies, time for the spell. Link semet, liberate paro quod genii isti perdidit in sepulcrum aperire."
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
