23. Wedding dress
They're dancing. As husband and wife. The last time they did was during Mike and Rachel's wedding.
"Hey be careful with the swaying, we still have to return your ten thousand dollar dress" he joked during their wedding dance. It made her laugh. He likes making her laugh. He loves hearing her laugh.
"Just so we're clear this dress was your choice not mine. I do remember protesting against it" she said in her defense. It was true. The dress she's wearing was Harvey's choice.
They went shopping together for his tux and for her dress for Louis's wedding. He said that since she chose his tux, he should choose her dress. She loves the Monique Lhuilllier black floral gown that he chose, but the price of it was too much. She protested but Harvey talked her into it and paid for it, saying it's his responsibility as the best man to make her look pleasing to the eye.
"You mean pleasing to YOUR eyes" she said after fitting the dress.
"That's what I just said" He smirked, then he whispers "But you look pleasing to MY eyes without a dress, even more"
"You're an idiot" she smiles.
"I cant wait to take that dress off of you" He whispered, during the dance.
"Harvey!" She she shook her head.
"I told you, you're more pleasing to the eyes without it" He grins. He twirled her around and then pulled her close as they sway on the dancefloor.
She rested her head against his, taking it all in. They're married. It was once just a wishful thinking and now they're here dancing, on their wedding. It's funny they had to say the classic vow during the ceremony because they've been doing what the vow states ever since. They've been together through the good and the bad.
For better or for worse.
She was there when he made partner. He's there when she got fired. He got her back.
Then there's also when she became the COO and when his parents passed away.
For richer or for poorer.
He shared his wealth with her. He takes her for breakfast, shopping and their work anniversary dinner.
In sickness and in health.
He buys her chunky monkey when he knows its her time of the month. She cancels all his meeting when she knows he's sick even if he's being stubborn and tells her he's not.
And the list goes on.
The wedding seems like just a formality, because what Harvey said to her before is true.
'It felt like we've always been together'
She always say that no one stands a chance against Harvey Specter, but the truth is no one stands a chance against the both of them, especially on their wedding day. Not her unorthodox black floral gown and not the popular belief of seeing the bride before the wedding stopped them from getting married that night.
It's the universe's way of telling her that nothing can separate them, since day one.
It's meant to happen, even if it took 12 years. Their magnetic pull towards each other is stronger than anything. It's a force to be reckoned with.
Then it dawned on her that they're really meant to be wedded that day. She reflected on the small details.
The fact that Harvey was carrying his grandmother's ring in his pocket. That Sheila's giving birth on her own wedding and had to leave. That Katrina has a client who's a high-end jeweller and is on her speed dial. Everything makes sense. This day is for them.
Though she might not hear the end of this from Louis that they're sharing the same wedding anniversary, she didnt care.
She rested her left cheek on his shoulders facing him.
"I love you Harvey Specter" she repeats herself.
"I love you too Mrs. Donna Paulsen-Specter" he replied.
"Who says I'm taking your last name?" She joked.
"Donna. You've taken every bits of me. My whole being has been yours since the beginning."
She chuckled. She has turned this man into a sap.
"Donna Paulsen-Specter it is"
No, she has turned both of them into a sap.
'You know we're gonna be together forever right?' His words replayed in her head.
They have been and they will always be.
End.
