The next morning Nora made breakfast again. She was pleasantly surprised to find her brother and sister-in-law already in the kitchen.

"Hey mom," Charlie said, "we need money for our homecoming tickets."

"If you get my purse I'll see what I have." Charlie brought his mother her purse and the three boys told her how much they needed. Nora took her wallet out, but when she tried to open it her hands started shaking. She finally was able to open her wallet and took out her cash to see what she had. "How much did you say you needed?" Nora's voice shook. Charlie told her and Nora tried to count the money but her muscles spazzed causing her body to jerk and she dropped the money. Ray held onto his sister tightly. This had happened before and they found that close contact with someone helped shorten the episode because it helped to calm Nora down. When the episode ended, Ray let go but kept a protective hand on his sister's back.

"I'll pick it up," Charlie quickly said. "Here, I can count it for you." Charlie took the cash and counted it in front of her. He distributed the money to his brothers and took his mother's purse back.

Nora made herself busy in the kitchen. Her children ignored the sounds of their mother dropping things or banging them on something. At least they tried to, "should we help her?" Van whispered.

"She said she doesn't want us to," Charlie answered.

"No, she said it wasn't our job to take care of her," Ella corrected.

"Isn't helping kind of taking care of?" Lenora asked.

"I don't know, but we have to go. We'll talk to dad about it later."

The kids stood and yelled goodbye to their mother before running out the door. Debra ran to make sure the girls got on the bus okay. Ray had gone upstairs to shower. Frasier walked into the kitchen just after the children had left. "Morning darling," he went over and kissed his wife's cheek. Frasier noticed the state his wife was in. "Why didn't you wake me?"

"You had already been up late helping me."

"Do you want some help?" Frasier could tell his wife was about to lose it. Nora just nodded her head in defeat.

"They didn't hug me good-bye," Nora said as Frasier began loading the dishwasher.

"Who didn't?"

"They all yelled good-bye and ran out of the door."

Frasier looked at his wife not knowing what to say. "What do you need me to do?"

"I don't know," Nora grabbed her cane and left the kitchen.

That night at dinner, Nora was having difficulty eating because of her shaking hands. She could tell that her children were staring at her and so she gave up because she was feeling self-conscious. Robert, Amy, Debra, and Ray felt bad for their sister. Robert and Amy had told their children to try and not stare at Aunt Nora because she would feel bad. After dinner, Nora was putting the dishes in the dishwasher. Her children were at the table talking to one another. They had cleared and cleaned the table. Ray was working on an article, Debra was on the phone with Ally, and Robert and Amy were helping their children with their homework. Frasier had to take a work call, but he told his wife to let him load the dishwasher. Nora was trying to put a plate away, but her hands were shaking and making it difficult. She gave up and set the dish on the counter. The glass she had grabbed fell to the floor and shattered when she couldn't hold onto it.

"I'm going to get dad," Charlie said. When he and his father rushed into the kitchen they saw Nora take the plate she couldn't get into the dishwasher and throw it to the ground, breaking it.

Frasier ran to his wife and took her in his arm. Nora cried while repeating "I can't," and Frasier took his wife over to the table and sat her down while he cleaned up. The Barones witnessed the entire scene. Ray and Robert walked over to help Frasier clean up.

"Dad!" Henry yelled, "Mom's bleeding.'

Frasier ran and knelt in front of his wife. He took her hands to inspect her wounds. "Darling, when did this happen?"

Nora was withdrawn and lacking emotion, "when I tried picking up a plate I dropped before you came in here," her voice was monotone.

"Why didn't you wait for me?"

"My hands are useless. What does it matter?"

"Frasier, we'll take care of the kitchen if you would like to take care of Nora," Amy said.

Frasier nodded and helped his wife to stand. He took her to the bathroom to clean her hands off. Luckily the cuts were superficial. Frasier wrapped a bandage around both of her hands. "We should probably talk."

"Nothing can change, so what's there to talk about?"

"I think you need to seek help for your mental health."

"Why? Because you're a psychiatrist and you know everything?"

"No, because you are clearly depressed."

Nora turned to walk out, but she didn't have her cane. She placed her hand on something to steady herself as she walked out of the bedroom and down the hall. "Can one of you get my cane?" Nora asked her children when she reached the kitchen. Henry handed it to his mother.

"Nora, you are being irrational!" Frasier yelled as he came down the hall.

"And you're being a jackass!" Nora began to walk towards the door that led to the garage.

"Stop her!" Frasier yelled and Charlie wrapped his arms around his mother to stop her.

"Charlie, let go of me," Nora tried to get out of her son's arms.

"Nora, we are talking about this now."

Nora finally broke out of her son's arms but stumbled backward. Luckily Charlie caught her. "Fine! Talk!"

"You are clearly depressed and you are not going to be able to just ride it out."

"You're damn right I'm depressed! I can't do this Frasier!"

"Can't do what?"

"This, life, I can't do it," Nora placed her free hand on the counter as she began to cry.

"That's why you need to go see someone," Frasier said as he rubbed his wife's back.

Nora pushed her husband away, "you just don't get it, do you? Between this morning and this evening, I don't know how much more I can take." Nora walked unsteadily away from her husband. Nora stopped suddenly and looked around.

"What's wrong?" Frasier asked when he saw the look on his wife's face. All of a sudden Nora turned and rushed towards the stairs. "Nora, where are you going? Darling wait a minute." Everyone followed the woman and Nora heard something just as she reached Tony's bedroom. When she opened the door she found her son on the floor of his closet. He had tried to hang himself, but the rod couldn't support his weight and it broke. Nora fell as she rushed to him, but crawled and tried to get the belt off of him.

"Tony, wake up honey," Nora said as she tried getting the belt off. Frasier and the rest of the children walked in and Frasier ran over to his wife and son. Charlie called the paramedics. Nora and Frasier got the belt off of their son. "Tony, please wake up," Nora begged her son.

Tony's eyes opened a little, "mom?" he croaked out.

"I'm right here baby, and I'm so sorry. I've been selfish and not thinking about your feelings. I love you all so much."

"Love you, mom," Tony breathed out. "Sorry, bye," he said as he slipped into an unconscious state.

"No, Tony!" Nora began to yell, "Tony wake up! I need you to wake up!"

Robert rushed over and began CPR while they waited for the paramedics.

"Darling the paramedics are here," Frasier said. He tried to help his wife up, but her legs buckled. He ended up dragging her over to a wall out of the way. The rest of the Crane children joined them. Robert stopped administering CPR when the paramedics took over.

"What have I done?" Nora began to cry. "If he dies, I'll never forgive myself."

"Mom, it's not your fault," Charlie said.

"I really wish I believed you," Nora was falling apart. Frasier had one arm around his wife and her hand in his. "Frasier, you need to go with him."

Frasier knew that now wasn't the time to argue with his wife. He looked over and Charlie nodded. "Take your time getting off of the floor," Frasier told his wife before kissing her and following the paramedics out. Robert and Amy took their children home while Ray and Debra followed Frasier in his car. The three had thought that it had been decided that Nora and the children would stay home.

Nora's children rallied around her, "Mom, we all love you very much. We are trying to figure out what you want or need from us right now," Henry said.

"We don't want to make you feel helpless, but we don't want you to hurt or exhaust yourself," Ella added.

"We're sorry for not hugging you when we left this morning," Lenora said.

"You seemed so agitated and we weren't sure you wanted to be touched," Van explained.

"We were running late and just ran," Charlie said.

Nora looked up at her children and gave them a slight smile, "thank you. I might need some help though."

"That's okay," Henry said.

"When I rushed in here I fell on my left side."

"The side you hurt in the accident?" Charlie asked.

"Yes, I might need a bit more help moving. I was also wondering, Charlie, if you would drive us to the hospital?"

"Yeah, let's take care of you first," Charlie and Henry each took a side and helped their mother up. "You doing okay?"

"Don't let go," Nora let out a nervous breath. "Can you help me over to the bed? I need to sit."

Charlie and Henry helped their mother get to the bed as quickly as possible. The three girls sat on each side of their mother and at her back so she could sit up. Nora noticed something on the floor, "what's that," she pointed and Henry picked up the folded piece of paper that said mom and handed it to Nora. "I don't have my glasses, could one of you read it?"

Henry took the piece of paper back, and read it out loud, "mom, I am sorry for not being able to protect you and for being part of the reason you are in so much pain. I know that you are glad it was you and not me, but I wish it had been the other way around. You've dealt with a lot of shit in your life and don't deserve this. I haven't been there for you since the crash and I'm sorry. I stayed away because every time I saw you my guilt ate me up more. I really think this is best for everyone. I'm sorry about the grief you will go through, but just like you, I can't take this anymore. I love you mama, Tony." Everyone was crying when Henry finished.

"Mom," Charlie knelt in front of her, "I'm going to carry you downstairs and sit you on the couch." Charlie lifted his mother and took her downstairs. "Henry, go see if you can find mom's wheelchair." Henry went to look and Ella went with him to help. They came back with the chair and their mother's purse. The kids all helped to get their mother in and out of the car.

"Hey," Frasier said when he saw his family. Charlie pushed Nora up to Frasier who took his wife's hands. "Are you alright?"

"When I walked into his room I fell on my left side. I'm a bit sore, but I think the kids felt this was best." Nora handed Frasier Tony's suicide note. "Do you know anything?"

"They are running tests to see if there's any damage in his neck or throat and if he hit his head. He's been in and out of it."

"Frasier," Nora paused to try and control her emotions.

"What is it?"

Nora broke down, "I need help," she cried. Her children went to each side of their mother rubbing her arms and back. "Can you find me, someone, to talk to?"

"Of course I can," Frasier kissed his wife and thanked God that she came to this realization.
