I Don't Own RWBY
"Oh come on! That's your fortieth right guess!" Sky was freaking out that I kept guessing what side the coin will fall on right. It wasn't hard, with my luck and with how much experience I have with coin flips, I don't think I can be wrong unless we do this a few hundred more times. Still, all in all, I wasn't sure why she was freaking out about this, my luck wasn't even all that high, well it was a lot higher than most but all it did was leave me with questions about it. I mean I know stats can go higher than forty, so why is my luck stuck at that number? Do some stats have a limit?
"I'm just lucky" She rolled her eyes at that while we walked into the gym. She apparently knew where it was located since the third day of school. I still am unaware of where the library is located and we've been here for about a week. To be fair, most of my time had been in learning how to write. I knew the language and what symbols were needed for each word but before now I had never even picked up a pencil before so it had been a challenge for a while until a new skill came in to help me.
"Yeah, I'm sure. Anyway, muscle man, the bench is over there, I'm going to run on the treadmill" I nodded and moved over to what she had pointed out to me. I looked over the items for a long moment before using observe the weights, while picking up them one at a time to see how heavy they were. It took a while since I had never weight something before but after a while I got the feel for how much a pound is. A few minutes later I was under the bar and lifted it up before pushing it up and then down again.
I just kept doing it over and over again, it was heavy and a bit of an effort to lift, but it wasn't painful, just repetitive, the burn I felt after about five minutes of work dulled away very quickly from Gamer's Body doing it's thing making it so I wasn't hurting any. Like I thought, it was just going to a cycle of moving my arms up and down for long periods of time. Maybe I should add a few more pounds? No, I was lucky in judging the right amount but much more and I wouldn't be able to lift this thing.
So with that I just continued, I wasn't sure how long this would take so I just kept going until it had been what I can only assume a long while as Sky walked out from wherever the treadmills had been located and saw me still going.
"Damn, you don't even sweat, that's so unfair" I just looked at her for a moment before lifting the bar a bit higher before resting it on a lip. Sitting up, I was about to say something but was interrupted by my STR increasing by four points. More than I thought it would go by but it had been about an hour and a half of effort so that's something. Though I was mostly guessing on the time as I was still a bit unused to measuring in any form. Time being one of them.
"Probably" She just swatted at me as I unloaded the bar of all it's weight before moving on. I believe from the look she is giving me that she's excited about something.
"Come on! It's only noon so we can get to Vale before one if we're lucky" Right, it's the weekend at the moment and Sky's been excited about having time to go out in the city. I had agreed to go with her because I both wanted to collect more money and to stock up on some bullets, a couple new sized magazines, and if I'm able to collect enough Lien, then I wold also like to buy a few dust items as well. More accurately, I want to find a blueprint on dust rounds. More than likely it's just a casing and dust, both of which I have access to, so making them myself would be a lot cheaper than buying them every time I want some high powered ammo.
"You don't need to drag me" Sky ignored me as she quite literally was dragging me along as we headed back to our dorm room. She needed a shower and a change of clothing, after all, she still sweats just like everyone else that isn't me.
"You know, I wouldn't think people watching would be your thing. For a hobby, I'd thought you'd like something like reading a large book or maybe drinking tea in solitude" Solitude is the main reason why I chose to stray away from choosing the path of a wander, or more accurately outsider as that was what the title was made for.
"It lets me be a bit better at knowing what expression means what. I might not be the best at mimicking them but I find it to be good practice to know what they mean either way" Sky snorted at that while drinking a bit of the coffee I had bought her, I myself was drinking some tea, so she was half right I guess on what I do for hobby's in a way.
"Nah, you're prefect at mimicking it" I wasn't sure I agreed with her as last time I tried to do so I had been punched for my efforts but I didn't say anything else on the matter as it didn't really matter much as we walked down one of the many busy streets of Vale. I was mostly just watching the people as we went though I also did that to acquire some cash off them as well. So far in the last hour and a half that we've been walking around and exploring I've managed to make a bit over two thousand Lien. Lucky me.
"Mine if we stop here? I want to buy some more rounds" I blinked as I turned to look in the same direction that Sky was facing. We were in a part of the city that I hadn't been to before, so I didn't recognize the dust shop until I had looked a bit closer to notice the sign. Interesting, and nice as I was also planning on getting some ammo while we were here as well. Though, it wouldn't hurt to make sure of something before hand.
"Will there be a problem if I go in with you?" Sky blinked at that confused by my question as she turned to look at me. I thought about it for a second before making my ears on top of my head lower a bit to bring attention to them. Her eyes widened a bit before she looked back over towards the shop for a moment. After a long second she turned back and said.
"Um, I hope not?" She didn't sound certain but even if she was wrong then all it meant was I had to just look around a bit more before I can buy some rounds. And if it happens that such a thing comes to pass and some rounds are out in the open, I see no reason why not to swipe them. Pickpocket was a high level now though I'm not sure it would apply here...Maybe I'll unlock a sleight of hand skill? I do have a title for it, maybe I should equip it for a while if I want to steal something.
"Then let's get going" With that I walked towards the store while Sky quickly followed after me. I didn't have to think about it for right now, that's all on the two chances that both this person was a racist and an idiot by leaving out live rounds of high powered ammunition in grabbing distance. So with that I walked into the shop and looked around with Sky right behind me. She looked a tad bit more nervous than I think I've seen her before. She stepped in front of me and walked up to a woman, named Jade.
"Hey Jade! I'm here for a refill, um, I also brought a friend I hope you don't mind" I stepped up next to her while the woman looked at me for a moment, a long one, and it was a bit obvious that most of that time was spent on her looking upwards at my fox ears. The smile she put on afterwards was pinged both with Lie and Body Language as false.
"Of course I don't mind, more customers isn't something I'd ever turn down" It was clear I unnerved her, but she was being professional so I can't say anything bad about it. She was still being polite and willing to sell so I see no reason to make a big deal out of this.
"Thanks! I need some more fire dust rounds for damnum and imperium. And I know Ash needs some things as well" Jade nodded as she walked back behind the counter while I pulled out one of the two fifteen count magazines I had for Memento and Nova. I'm pretty sure a standard non modified round would work but it doesn't hurt to make sure of it. Walking up to the counter with Sky leading me as Jade walked into the back for a moment while I looked over at her while we waited.
"It isn't good form for her to have custom rounds out in the open, I mean, it's not like anyone else is going to be able to use them" I nodded at that as we both went back to waiting though I did make note that she had said custom rounds were in the back, not the normal ones...Was it a bad sign that I thought about how to rob a place the second an opening appears? Well, I do have a perk that marks me as a 'Natural Born Thief' so I guess it just comes with the territory now. Then again, I also have a perk called Good Samaritan and that doesn't make me do good, maybe they balance each other out a bit? No idea.
"Alright, I got your standard order here. What about you...Ash right?" I nodded as I stepped up a bit and asked my first question.
"Would you mind showing me a normal fire round?" She blinked at that before nodding a bit slowly. She lowered herself a bit and opened up a drawer in the counter and pulled out a fire dust round. I did what I normally did when I wanted to know something about something, Observe.
Fire Dust Round
Rank: B
A crystal of fire dust that was made to be compatible with most standard firearms.
Dust Round shots remaining: 30
Bonus to base damage: 30 Fire
Cost: 1,250 Lien
It was more expensive than I figured it would be, a lot more. It was the same rank as the last round I had seen last time but almost doubled the price. I looked up at the woman behind the counter and asked about it.
"This costs one thousand two hundred and fifty Lien. The last time I was in the city, the retail price was only five hundred for this rank in quality" Jade winced at that and looked away, though I did note a hint of confusion on her expression as well, more than likely from me knowing the exact price of the item without a tag or being told.
"Yeah, dust prices have been going up a lot lately...It's because of this group of thieves running around and stealing whatever they can get their hands on! It's ruining most of our business!...Sorry you don't need to here me complain" I just gave her a nod, though I believe my face didn't make her feel comforted. I looked back at the cost on the screen again for a moment before making my decision.
"I see, I don't suppose you have a blueprint on making standard dust rounds?" Jaded blinked at that before nodding slowly, while giving a look at Sky. I wasn't sure how to interpret the questioning look and I couldn't see Sky's reaction as she was standing behind me so I couldn't get any information from that either. Still, after a moment she walked into the back room and disappeared for long enough for Sky to ask me a question.
"Why do you want a blueprint?" To be frank, the reason was I made a lot more dust that I got for free and it was a shame if I didn't do anything with some of the less used dust types I have. Which is basically all them besides fire and gravity, those two I've seemed to have taken to being a bit bias towards them. I believe it means I have favorites, that's interesting to be honest.
"I have a skill in manufacturing. If I had the blueprints then I could make them myself with my own storage of dust" She just rolled her eyes at that with a smile and the shake of the head. So many things to do with your face at once, it just seems uncomfortable.
"Honestly, you're so literally game breaking that it's not even funny" Teasing, that wasn't something I'm still use to and half the time I don't get it really and think I should be insulted until she just laughs at me and explains it. I think it's a good sign that I know what it is more now and that I know how to recognize it. Otherwise I feel like our friendship would be quite uncomfortable.
"Thank you" She just snorted at that when Jade came back in from the back with some old schematics. I held my hand out and looked over them, it was what it said it was, which was all I needed, though since these weren't put on sale, I didn't have a price attached to them.
"How much?" Sky looked shocked that I didn't know for some reason, while Jade gave me a reasonable price, they were old and clearly from the dust build up on them that these haven't been used for a long while. So twenty Lien was probably fair for an item she only had one of that would get rid of me as a customer for a while.
I looked over the prints again for a moment and then accepted the prompt that appeared in front of me which asked if I wanted to learn the blueprint. After I did, the papers vanished from my hands and that was it, I knew all that was needed to know about making dust ammunition. It wasn't actually all that difficult, and with how many hours I have available during the night. I could make a lot and with how I know how to make them one at a time. I could power level Manufacture as well through it.
"Yeah he does that, it's a bit weird when things disappear into the middle of the air" I had also put up the mag as it was kind of unneeded at this point. While I was doing that, Sky was paying for her custom ammunition. Maybe I could help her out a bit and learn about how her ammo works to make some for her, as custom works must be quite a bit more expensive than normal dust rounds.
Of course, they probably won't be the best. I mean, even now, the dust damage for this would be divided by five and would cost two charges, that is if I used fire dust for the rounds, which I probably won't as I prefer those to be crystals I can use outside of firing from th-...Wait, I don't actually have to touch the crystals to use them when they are on my person, if I loaded a dust round into one of my weapons, would it still be close enough to being on my person to use my dust skills? I hope so, it would make my life a small bit easier in keeping my dust in a loaded and ready to use in multiple forms.
Either way, I should most certainly find a way to level up my dust skills. Most certainly Fire, gravity, and Dust Mastery as those are the ones I've already mentioned I've taken in as my favorites, and the one that I need to give a bonus on to those two while they still aren't the best at the moment.
"You coming Ash? I want to get something to eat before we head back. I heard from an upper year that there is this nice cafe somewhere nearby that I want to try" I blinked out of my thoughts as I turned to follow after the retreating form of Sky.
"Can I speak to you?" Meral glared at me as I was able to catch him before he could walk off. It was quite hard but he seems to enjoy spending time in the morning messing with his hair. From the looks of it, he was slicking it up at the moment. I didn't understand it, but that might be because my hair only had one style for some reason, combing doesn't seem to do anything to it.
"What do you want?" He sounded annoyed but I was more than use to that from passing racist complaining about me, and also use to him being annoyed at me, and, well, I have a lot of experience in people being rude while talking to me actually.
"I feel like the two of us talking to work this out wouldn't be the worst option" He just glared at me for a long moment before sighing and looked away from me.
"I don't think you understand my whole problem do you" I didn't, not truly, he gave me the problem and I think I'm only seeing the surface of it at the moment and it has begun to bother me a small bit.
"No. I believe you made it clear that I don't understand people well. I'm sorry if that upsets you but it's not something I can change. I'm broken" He winced at that but it was still something I considered as true. I still don't understand people, and I'm fine with continuing to think myself as much until I learn enough to justify changing my stance on the matter. Meral, after a long moment sighed and said.
"You're not...broken. You're messed up and I find you really creepy and to be honest, I don't think you'd be a good leader, but your not broken. Broken in implies you need to be put back together" But I did, I wasn't whole, I had years of memories that are just missing from my mind, and I don't even know if anything was ever there before I woke up a month ago in that forest or not. I don't know if I just suddenly came into exist or if I'm leaving a life behind. I'm broken because I'm not whole.
"Incorrect. I have a number of things that make it hard for me here, beyond sociability and my memory, I also happen to be quite immoral when it suits me. I am aware I have many issues and things that most would find to be enough to not to hold me in fondness, but I do not understand why you seem to hate me, I don't believe I've done enough to warrant it" Meral sighed as he looked away again, it was clear that he did not find this conversation to be enjoyable. I didn't either so I guess it made since.
"It's just...You...You don't care! I didn't really mind you at first, even if I was a bit wary of you. And then you watch me all night! And then you stare forwards and look blankly at the wall. I have no idea where you go after classes but what I do know is that you have never shown the slightest interest in becoming a hunter!" I see, well, not really. But I do get it a bit of it, and now I'm going to hope I don't say the wrong thing.
"To be honest with you, getting a hunter licence is mostly a side goal of mine. Along with learning to defend myself, most of my concern is revolved around a personal stand point. I want to learn more about myself, and learn a bit more about socializing with others...The last one hasn't been working to well. Only Sky seems to be fine with me, I had tried but no one seemed to want to talk to me, for one reason I didn't understand or another" I believe it was because of the reason that I didn't understand to why Meral looked away again, he keeps doing that. I wonder if it's something he does often when he isn't angry and I just haven't noticed on account of him always being angry at me before now.
"I...I didn't know that. Look ok! I..." He cut off from that for some reason. I just looked at him while he seemed to struggle with words. I could understand that very well. The only reason I always had words ready was because I can't get flustered, I feel like it gives me a certain advantage.
"Alright, ok, look...I've spent most of my life training hard, almost everyday to get where I am, and I' still one of the weakest here! I'm aware of that! I'm not stupid, at least every member of three of the other teams this year all could beat me in a one on one fight. Not to mention how you royally beat me when we first met, and Sky is clearly just as strong as you, and I've known Terra for years, her level of skill above me is obvious..." This had taken on to another turn that I had no way of expecting.
"You find it annoying that for all your work your still weak and as such have taken to letting it out in a way on someone who you seem to think hasn't done enough work and that is strange enough that you can feel justified in it" Meral winced again, he really should stop doing that, he looked like he had just been slapped. I didn't understand why, I had just told the truth and he must have known about what he was doing in some way so I'm unaware as to why he seems so surprised by this fact.
"I-No yes...yeah. Look you just don't do anything, you just sit around and look at a back wall without even blinking, it's weird and I guess it was a bit easy to just push it onto someone like you" It was still a bit insulting from those last words but I knew he was right. I might not know everything about myself, but I do know that I was was a bit 'weird' I had no bases to be able to deny that.
"I see. In that case I believe the proper thing to do is to forgive you" He looked at me like he wanted to argue, either for why he didn't need my forgiveness or to say he didn't deserve it, it honestly could have been either or. I just didn't particularly care about him trying to get out of it. I find arguing to be a pointless endeavor when all it does it not solve anything, and I wanted to solve something here.
"I don't particularly care about if you hate me or if it was just a way to defend yourself. It doesn't effect me much, but what does effect me, you, Terra, and Sky is the fact that you're lack of cooperation is making this team suffer and be divided. The first time we all get in a fight against an enemy I can't see us working together, and that would be a detriment...Not to mention, I would prefer to be friends" He looked at me for a long moment before sighing and said.
"Yeah. I get it" He looked past me for a moment before walking on, not looking back but I feel like I made a lot more progress than I felt I would have been able to not to long before now...I'm getting better at this people thing, I might not be close to the best right now, but I'm learning.
Hidden Quest Completed
A house stood divided
Your team hasn't always been on the best of terms, and in fact you still aren't, but this is a hell of a lot better than it use to be
Objectives:
-Get Meral and Terra to stop being hostile towards you
Rewards:
-750 Exp
-5 Stat Points
Through the User gaining over one hundred Stat Points and not using them, Perk: Hoarder has been unlocked
A hidden quest and a new perk? Well, I'm glad I get some kind of confirmation that Meral is no longer considered hostile which is something at least. Also, hoarder? I guess that is accurate since I haven't spent any of my points and even then I'm a bit of a Lien saver, which can be seen from the fact that I don't have a single Lien that is my own and not someone else's. I have my menu's still up at the moment so I might as well look at it right now.
Perk:Hoarder
You've always seemed to be a bit more incline to holding onto what you have, and as such you've gotten a bit better at making use of it as well
1 stat point is now worth 1.2 points
...That was actually pretty amazing, I mean, that makes all my points twenty percent greater. I mean, I think with the plus five I just got, I should have had one hundred and three points, so with that, those one hundred and three points are actually worth one hundred and twenty-three point something. That's a lot extra...I wonder what I would get if I get to two hundred points? What if I get to a certain point total in my stats? Would I get something for that?
"Hey! There you are! Stop staring at your floating screens and come on already, we might be late" Sky had appeared to drag me off to class, good thing to as I had kind of had the fact that I had to leave for classes soon, it would have been unfortunate it I had missed a class.
I was taking my time, the fire in my hand building up a bit more as I made it change form slightly, my mastery wasn't near as good enough to make it resemble something. But just holding it's form and making it change up it's shape vaguely was enough to level it up, so far it had only been Dust Mastery that had leveled up in the last thirty minutes I had been using this crystal, of course the fire dust had been drained a bit and I would have to change the crystal out for a new one.
Fire Dust Manipulation has leveled up through constant use
Oh there it goes. I pulled the skill menu back up and looked at the skill. The cost had gone down again, though nothing else had changed on the page, still called 'Very Minor' and the damage reduction was still at five. I had figured that the cost would be the last thing to change but it was the first. Still, the cost going down which will help me with leveling the skill up faster because it doesn't cost as much to use.
So I just continued to use it while I moved over the information in my head about the dust rounds I was planning on making. I would have to change the crystals into actual dust, not the general name but the powder like form I feel like it would make sense if it actually only came in as. It wasn't difficult, having a decent level in Dust Mastery let me know how to change the forms of dust, of course the crystals can become powder but not the other way around for some reason but that's what I needed anyway so it worked out.
With how much fire dust I have, fifteen full B ranked crystals, I really cleaned up at that store, I should be able to make five rounds from one crystal, and if I don't mess up and all the rounds are B ranked for the material used, then just using one crystal's worth should give me one hundred-fifty shots in total, or one full mag in Memento and a spare which I can use in Nova, which should be enough for a while as it is my side arm which I mostly use for it's melee use than anything.
Of course I'll be making more than just one set of rounds, but dust in any form are a rare thing to get my hands on at the moment, so it's best to not waste them by making it all into rounds before I can know or not if I can still use my dust skills when they are in that form of use or while in my gun's chamber. Though I will have to wait a small little while before I can test that out fully as I am still busy with leveling up Fire Dust Manipulation. I just want to get one more level and then I'm gong to level up gravity for a while.
I'll be honest, the problem with Meral was a bit of a contrived one but I felt it made some sense and teenagers hopped up on hormones aren't the brightest bunch when it comes to empathizing with other people so I figured it was a bit accurate. Besides that, Ash is starting to put a bit more of a focus into both training and having fun. So far he's mostly just gone around and done whatever was the easiest thing to do, but now he's training his stats like he's been thinking about for a while now and has also made sure to not just only do that by having Sky drag him off into Vale for a while. Anyway, See ya.
