CHAPTER 10: THE COAT.
(POV: Mysterious Narrator.)
As Leon then began his way to the lower floors, The Allcrofts and the Billinton Brothers had just taken down the last of the guards that were at the entrance. However, before any of the Brothers three could say a single remark, Jackland looked at them with serious eyes.
"Thomas, Billster, Timothy, and Proteus." The king called out. "You all need to go on without me. More enemies are on the way."
(POV: Thomas.)
Though I didn't want to believe it, I knew that King Allcroft was right, for he can see at least some things within the future, thanks to his sword.
"But what about you?" I asked, unsure if he'll be alright.
"I'll distract the guards down here for you. Just go and find Lady."
"Not while you're alone, father." Said a voice, as Proteus then stepped next to King Allcroft. "I'd rather have Lady knowing that I'd stayed and tried to ensure that you didn't die, rather than leaving you behind. Besides," He went on. "I'm not as skilled as Thomas and his brothers anyway, so I won't really be able to provide much assistance, anyway."
"Right." The king replied, as Proteus then looked at me.
"Go now you three! We'll be fine down here."
Nodding in response, me, Billster and Timothy darted off the way forward to find Lady. As we continued on, we ran into no more guards for some reason. However, as we then made it to the room that was midway, there was just one guard waiting for us. Both his hair and eyes were black, and his face bore an expression of great confidence, as his lighter weight armor glistened in the light.
"Greetings." He said in a sly yet polite manner. "I have been expecting for you three to come. And to be honest, you'll probably not come out alive for this visit. Let alone un scorched we shall say."
As he then finished saying that, thermal sigils appeared on his finger tips, before they all flew off and went around the room, forming bigger and bigger until it was a massive fireball. Then to our shock, the fireball moved into the center of the room and transformed into a giant thermal golem. As we felt the heat and flames being sent towards us, we knew that we had to think it all through before fighting this thing.
"Looks like King Allcroft was not kidding when he said that Allen's guards were pretty powerful." I remarked.
"Yes." Timothy replied. "And with the amount of flames that has, I doubt that my sword's ice would be able to extinguish it."
"Which means we need to attack the guard who made it." Billster concluded, as he then drew Blue-Spark. "Thomas, Timothy, I'll distract the golem so you both can have a clear shot at him. But I'll only be able to make an opening for about 10 seconds, so you have to find a way to strike him down within that time. Also, we don't know what else he can do, so be very cautious and don't get too close."
As we then nodded, Billster showed his sword to the golem, and then ran to another part of the room to distract it for us. As we then watched him active Elemental Release, I looked over at the guard before us, and saw that it was just a straight shot from where I was. Then suddenly to my shock, I found myself readying for a powerful thrust of some kind. I didn't know exactly what sword-spell it was, but it was something that seemed just the thing I needed at this moment. As my blade began to glow, I looked at Timothy, and gestured to him to deal with the enemy's sight. Understanding my words without even saying them, my brother used Malstorm's ice powers to make a snowball, and tossed it at the enemy before us.
"Bullseye!" I exclaimed in my thoughts as I saw the snowball hit just where we wanted it to. "Now then time to..."
My thoughts trailed off, as an image of a very similar maneuver to that I'm using right now appeared in my mind, as a blurred out familiar figure stood before the golden blade. To be frank, I have always noticed that in one way or another, that everyone has a side or part of them that they resent or resist. Billster with his moments and days of being unable to express himself, Timothy with his demon. Everyone has one. With that in mind, I guess that I was fated to discover mine.
(POV: Timothy.)
As I then looked over at Thomas, I saw a look of fright across his face, as his eyes were just about ready to tear. From how things looked, he was just about ready to scream, when the seal of Pendragon appeared in Thomas's irises and a look of rage came across his face. As all of this occurred, a low yet furious growl sounded from his mouth, as the light of the sword-spell became brighter and bright. Then to my shock, his uniform began to change shape, and turned into something else. I couldn't see everything, but from what I could tell, it was a coat that went down to his ankles that had his scabbard strapped to his back. There was also a crown upon his forehead, that was more outspoken than Proteus's. Everything that appeared on my brother at this moment, looked like that it was made for him specifically. Then before I could say anything else, Thomas charged forward, and gave out another growl and Excalibur's blade reached towards our enemy, stabbing him right in the heart. As the golem then stopped, Thomas's new outfit reverted back into his uniform, leaving behind a frightened look across his face. Seeing him fall to his knees, I knew that something was up.
"Thomas! Are you okay?"
My brother said nothing as he then hugged me, whimpering as he shuddered.
"Timothy... I-I-I..."
"Just dealt with someone that you don't wish to be?" I asked, knowing the kind of look that he had from my experience with my demon.
"Yes." Thomas replied solemnly. "I don't like HIM one bit."
(Mysterious Narrator.)
As Timothy then nodded, he and Thomas undid their embrace, and were about to have a word with Billster when the sounds of armored footsteps were heard from behind them.
"Fudge!" Billster scowled. "More guards!"
"Thomas! Go on ahead!" Timothy cried. "We'll deal with these idiots!"
Thomas gave a nod, as he then turned heel and darted off to continue his search for Lady.
