Karma's POV: "So, carrothead, how are you?"

"Why are you here?"

"Well, it's a requirement that I have to be here for six and a half hours a day for 180 days a year-"

Karma gave Asano a look, "why'd you come to class 3-E?"

Asano shrugged, "to assassinate Koro-sensei."

"That's all?"

"Yeah. Now, Akabane, answer my question, are you ok?"

Karma shrugged back, "more or less."

Asano leaned closer, "did your parents hurt you?"

Karma tried to control his features so he didn't give anything away. He thought he was doing a pretty good job but he must have failed because Asano said "they did. It was pretty bad, huh?"

"How did you-"

Asano smiled at Karma, "I guess when you learn how to hide your expressions, you learn how to tell if someone else is."

Karma had never really thought of Asano having to mask his features, the boy seemed to speak his mind about anything he wanted to.

He realized that he had thought of Asano as a different person then he really was. He had thought of Asano as ruthless, cold and unemotional/indifferent (this may or may not have been based on his biased opinion).

Yes, Asano was sarcastic, sharp-tongued, a little bit blunt and ruthless and distance but he was also kind and caring and funny. Maybe he was so smart that he found it hard to trust others, his brain constantly thinking of signs that people were double crossing him.

Asano had to hide his expression and come off as cold, unfeeling, and dangerous because he had to be, the same way Karma couldn't pull his punches so that few people would pick a fight with him.

Nagisa's POV: Nagisa was positive that it was the end of the world.

Either that or Karma had clearly lost his mind.

After he had attempted suicide, he'd been different, more distanced and less focused and moving around almost as if he was in a dream or a nightmare he couldn't escape. And then, of course, was Asano.

Nagisa could not understand how the two had all of a sudden because buddy-buddy! He wasn't jealous but a few weeks ago, Karma and Asano had both hated and respected each other by far, never did the two seem like best friend material!

"Maybe Asano's brain got fixed when he came to 3-E," Rio suggested as they watched Karma and Asano talk together.

"He never goes anywhere without Asano now!" Nagisa exclaimed, "whenever I want to talk to Karma, Asano always there!"

Rio gave him a sly smile, "is someone jealous of Karma's new friendship?"

"Y-no-no!" Nagisa sputtered, "I just-"

he looked down, "I just want to spend more time with Karma. I want to know what's going to it his mind."

Rio gave him a sympathetic look.

"Then talk to him about it, Nagisa! You need to tell him how you feel."

Then, Rio started snickering.

"What? Nagisa asked suspiciously, was Rio secretly scheming something that would most likely humiliate him?

"Oh- it's nothing-" Rio said, between her laughter, "it's just, I feel like I'm giving you love advice! And now I can actually see it!"

Nagisa blushed bright red, "shut up, Rio! It's not funny! And you know I don't like Karma like that!"

"You seem pretty flustered," Rio remarked jokingly. Nagisa hid his face, his heart pounding.

Was that the reason he felt a knot in his heart whenever he saw Asano and Karma together? Because he liked Karma?

Asano's POV: "I used to think of you as a snotty jerk, you know."

Asano looked up, "huh?"

"I used to think of you as a lot of things you aren't."

"How do you know that I'm not a snotty jerk?"

Karma looked at Asano, mischief sparking in his eyes.

"I don't know, are you?"

"Yes, I'm also a indifferent cold robot doesn't understand the meaning of true happiness."

"You-"

"-Know what people say about me." Asano laughed, "and some of it, to be frank, is absurd and makes me enjoy being 'mysterious'."

"What I want you to understand is that you're a different person then other people think. And I know that you're not just acting mysterious just to hear other people's opinions."

Asano sighed, "don't turn all of this sober. My whole life has been sober. You're the only one that I don't have to act so uptight around."

"What about your friends?"

Asano stiffened a little, "they-I... dropped them."

"Why? You said you were just trying to kill Koro-sensei by joining 3-E, won't you just go back when we kill him?"

"..."

"Asano?" I'm not going to tell him yet.

"They said that 'anyone in the 3-E is commonplace and lowlife.'"

"Wow." Karma whistled, "harsh."

Asano shrugged, "it's ok, though it is ironic that my rival turned into my slightly less competitive bestie and my friends turn into my... I don't know-strangers."

Karma laughed, "it is, huh? Sad that you got a taste of what you do to people in class 3-E."

Asano smiled a little, "lovely experience."

*When Asano was with his friends*

"Asano," Asano turned around to find two of his friends walking up to him, looking a little nervous.

"What?"

"Well we-we wanted to tell you, what we wanted to tell you was-" Aoi, the third smartest student in class 3-A blabbed on nervously, unlike himself.

Asano turned to his other friend, Seo, second only to him in brains.

"You tell me, Seo," Asano ordered.

Seo took a deep breath and then he turned his face into one of indifference.

"We don't want to be friends with you anymore."

"That's sudden," Asano remarked.

"I-it actually wasn't a very sudden choice," Aoi spoke up.

"We have been thinking about it ever since you transferred and started hanging out with that Akabane kid."

"That makes the matter so much better," Asano remarked, sarcastically.

"But seriously, Asano-hanging out with the one person you hate the most?" Seo asked, incredulously.

"And when you joined the dregs, you didn't even tell us!"

"I didn't know that I needed permission from you two," Asano replied coolly.

Seo grabbed Asano's shirt and shook him.

"Seriously what is going on with you these days?!"

Asano shrugged, "life. And sometimes in life, people don't tell you stuff and you have to deal with it. Now, is that the only reason you don't want to be friends with me?"

"We never said this before but we didn't ever like you!"

Asano's eyes widened just barely.

"You're manipulative, snotty, you underestimate everyone and we can't stand you any longer!"

Asano sighed, "I don't like me either, we can all file a report against me-maybe even take this up to the chairmen."

Seo was red in the face, "this isn't a joke Asano! We're serious."

Asano looked from Seo to Aoi.

"Wow. And to think that once I thought that all you could say was 'yes' and 'why are you going so easy on Akabane?' You've always been a hothead, Seo, but Aoi-wow this is a big step for both of you! So, are you going to turn into the new 'Asano' for class 3-A, Seo?"

Seo bristled, "you're still treating this like a joke."

Asano laughed, "isn't it, though? You hate me but you'd do anything to take my place in class 3-A and, with me going on a little detour to that garbage pit in the mountains you think you've secured it!"

Seo edged closer, "oh really-"

"he's already secured the position," Aoi said quietly.

"Speak up, will you?"

"I said he's already secured your position!"

Asano blinked, genuinely interested.

"Really? How so?"

"Your-your father-the chairmen-he never plans to take you out of class 3-E," Aoi sputtered, not meeting Asano's eyes.

"He-he says that he thinks it will be best."

Asano shoved Seo aside, good mood evaporating.

"Tch. I will kill you if you're lying, Aoi."

Aoi shook his head, getting bolder, "no it's true. Ask your-the chairmen."

Seo sneered at Asano, "not so high and mighty now, are you? Your own father hates you so much that he's sending you to the mountains!"

Asano gritted his teeth and smiled at Seo. "I don't see how that's any of your business."

And then he swung his fist.

Author's note: no this is not going to turn into a Karmagisa and Karmasano fanfiction! It is going to be solely Karma X Asano!
