Dear Mom and Dad, today was a great day. We get to spend a day in Texas. In fact, we're staying there for two days. The weather was great- only they're expecting a storm on the third day we leave, so we might need to leave the day early to stay safe.
We left New Mexico and we're heading for Texas.
"What are we're going to do there?" I asked.
"We're going to be staying at a hotel for two days," said Mr. Spier.
"That's cool," I said.
"Then, we'll do Louisiana," said Mary Anne. "We figured it would make sense since it's together."
"That's true. I like that idea," I said.
"Me, too," said Marci.
"What part of Texas we're staying?" I asked.
"Dallas," said Mary Anne. "We're seeing a concert at the Cowboys Stadium tonight."
"Sweet," said Claudia.
"I know," said Mary Anne.
"It's too bad football doesn't start until the fall otherwise we would've gone to the game," said Stacey.
"True," said Mary Anne.
"The radio was just saying they're expecting a storm the day after tomorrow when we leave," said Claudia.
"Uh-oh," said Marci.
"That doesn't good sound," said Mary Anne.
"I think that be a best bet," said her father.
"We should double check to make sure," said Kayla.
"But the only problem is that I don't think you would want to leave during the storm. They might want us to stay that day until the storm is over," Mary Anne pointed out.
"Mary Anne's got a valid point," I agreed.
"I agree with her, too," said Claudia.
"We can always here for extra day just in case," said Kristy,
"True," said Mary Anne.
"We can see what happens," said Mr. Spier.
"Let's play it by ear," said Kayla.
That afternoon, we landed in Dallas. We were checking in a suite.
"I heard there's a storm the day after tomorrow. Is that correct?" asked Mr. Spier.
"Yes," replied a clerk. "I suggest you would have to leave here tomorrow or extend your day for one more day because they're telling everyone to stay off the roads to be safe. It's going to be a hurricane."
"Okay. What do you think we should do, Patrick?" asked Mr. Spier.
"We can talk about that tonight," said Mr. Thomas.
"No rush," said the clerk.
"Thank goodness the concert is tonight," said Mary Anne.
"I know," agreed Claudia.
That night, we got ready to go to the concert.
"This is going to be a fun night," said Stacey.
"I know," said Kristy.
"Good thing we're considering about staying here for two more days because Louisiana's having a storm tomorrow. We're going to tell the clerk to keep us here for an extra day when we leave for the stadium," said Mr. Spier.
"Good plan," said Mary Anne. "I didn't hear about that part."
"We just found that out on the radio," said Mr. Thomas.
An hour later, Mr. Spier said, "Are you all ready to go to the concert?"
"Yes," I replied.
"We're going to get food inside the stadium before we go sit on the seats," said Mr. Spier.
"Sounds good to me," said Mary Anne.
On the way out, Mr. Spier and Mr. Thomas told the clerk to keep them on that third day.
"That because Louisiana's having a storm tomorrow as well," said Mr. Thomas.
"Good choice," said the clerk. "I will take care of that right away."
Then, we all left to go the stadium. We got there early enough to get dinner. That was when we went to our assigned seats. Mary Anne and I get to sit together.
"I like this singer that's going to be performing tonight," I said. "That singer is Celine Dion."
"Sweet. I like her songs, including My Heart Will Go On," said Mary Anne.
"That's a good song," said Kristy.
We had a good time. After the concert, most of the fans wanted autographs from Celine Dion. That was cool. That's what she did.
The next day, it was starting to rain.
"I thought the storm wasn't supposed to start until tomorrow," said Claudia.
"I know. I think it's only a drizzle for now," I said.
"Glad we're not leaving today or tomorrow," said Kristy.
"I agree," said Mary Anne. "The storm in Louisiana already started."
"It's only a drizzle, so we can still go out," said Mr. Spier.
We checked with the clerk to make sure it was safe and luckily, it was safe right now.
"The storm won't start until midnight," said the clerk.
We went into town with two vans. We were able to enjoy ourselves. We had lunch. We went to a few stores. We went back to the hotel to get ready for dinner there. At dinner, we had a buffet. After that, the girls and I watched a few movies.
"We could make it a movie day tomorrow since we'll be stuck here," said Kayla.
"Good idea," I agreed.
We went to bed a few hours later.
The next day, the hurricane was going on. We did had a movie day the whole time. We did pizza for lunch. Mr. Spier and Mr. Thomas offered sandwiches for dinner, so that's what we did. The storm was slowing down by the time we went to bed before 10:30 pm.
