Chapter 13: Not The End

"I have a lot of thoughts on him." Sirius smiled tenderly, but nervously at the same time.

"H-hi," Remus whispered from the side of James.

"What are you doing here? Did James get you?" Sirius was staring blankly at him.

"Sirius, I knew you were leaving." Remus replied, with a sad smile.

"Yeah but-"

"I just," Remus sighed. "I didn't want you to just disappear out of my life like that."

"What?" Sirius stared into Remus' eyes taking in all the emotions they showed.

"I," At this point, James had already left. "Sirius, I-" Remus couldn't figure out how to say all that he was feeling.

"Remus?" Sirius struggled to even think of what it could've been that Remus was trying to say.

"I like you, Sirius." Remus finally spat out. Millions of thoughts ran through Remus' head the second those words came out of his mouth.

"I like you too." Sirius didn't get it, this wasn't the usual yeah I like this person they're my friend.

"No," Remus took Sirius' hands in his. "Sirius Black, I have feelings for you."

Sirius could feel his face go red. "Remus, I," Sirius broke into a wide smile. "I have feelings for you too!"

The couple's happy moments should have lasted forever, or at least longer than two minutes. Sirius' smile was the first to fade. His heart dropped, he wanted this, to be with Remus.

"But, I'm leaving today," Sirius' heart shattered, watching Remus' smile die.

"What if, I'll understand if you say no," Remus' grip on Sirius' hand tightened. "I come with you?"

"You would come?" Sirius asked, beginning to grin again.

"If you feel what I feel, why not." Remus knew Sirius truly brought out a different side of him, one that's willing to take the risk of leaving what he knew.

"Then you probably have packing to do." The two lightly laughed, being with each other this way made them both so full of joy.

"Wait what about Lily?" Remus suddenly remembered his best friend. She wouldn't want to live alone in that apartment.

"Maybe," Sirius started.

James suddenly came running in. "She can stay here if she wants!" He shouted.

"I'll give her a call," Remus picked up his phone, but Lily did not pick up he only received a text that read:

Let me guess, you and Sirius are dating. You and he are leaving together, and James wants me to move in with him. I packed our stuff the moment you left, you know we don't have much. I'll be there in fifteen.

"She's on her way. So, Sirius where exactly are we going?" Remus asked, wishing to know more about what his future would hold.

"Bemu didn't say what specific city but, we're going to be around three hours away from here," Sirius said, anxious to answer.

"Oh, ok in the big picture that's not too far." Sirius enjoyed seeing Remus smiley and thinking on the bright side.

"Yeah, you're right. Isn't he James?" Sirius looked over to the living room where James was frantically trying to clean.

"What's he doing?" Remus whispered to Sirius.

"That is what he does before Lily comes over," Sirius explained smiling at his crazy friend.

Remus nodded. "And this happens every time?"

"Oh yeah, wish I could see what he does when she's always here." Sirius was happy for James and Lily. He knew how happy they would be together, but it wouldn't always seem it.

Sirius and Remus sat on the couch waiting for Lily to arrive. They sat with each other, treasureing and appreciating every moment. Soon, they were dragged out of their own world by the piercing sound of the doorbell ringing. James ran to the door with a huge smile on his face. Sirius laughed at how helplessly in love James was with Lily, but then he turned to Remus and realized he was just as helpless.

"Hey, guys!" Lily called from the front of the house.

"Hey, Lily." Sirius smiled.

"Hi, Lils," Remus said softly, bringing Lily into a hug.

"What's wrong, you look like you're about to cry?" Lily gazed, puzzled into Remus' eyes.

"I'm just really going to miss my friend. You were there for me when no one else was."

"And I'll still be here for you." She looked over to Sirius. "It's like you're my child, you're all grown up and running away with your boyfriend."

James and Sirius stood with one another staring at them. The two brothers smiling, happy, but most of all knowing that this isn't where their story will end.
