Second Heartbeat

Ecstatic from the news the young couple just received, the two were dancing around to small living area. They had decided that next week they would go down to the clinic and check on the progress of their child. The small test long forgotten as the happy parents waltzed to slow songs from Ezra's radio.

"This is wonderful my love." Sabine said as she leaned into his chest with her eyes closed.

"I know, the only issue is that it adds one more thing to worry about with your parents." Ezra said, though not showing his true fear.

That was a wakeup call for Sabine, she was worried about Ezra facing her parents for them dating. Now she was pregnant. "Ezra? What are we going to do about this, my parents will most definitely not approve." She squeaked out, not wanting to face them.

"Don't focus on that now, we just received the greatest news ever. I couldn't be happier." Ezra pulled away and looked down at his girlfriend. "Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum Sabine Wren. Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum ti an ner kar'ta."

That small loving sentence started the water works, as Sabine let all her joyful tears fall onto Ezra's white t- shirt. "I love you too Ezra." She choked out through happy sobs.

"Now the question is, which room does the baby get?" he said trying not to laugh. One of the storage rooms had been converted into a meditation room, then there was the actual storage room, and then Sabine's art studio. Ezra was determined to not let her give up her studio. If a room were to be changed, it would be his meditation room. "I can do without my meditation room come to think of it. I find your presence soothing, so our room will work."

"Yea, I was not giving up my studio. I love this little guy but he has to respect his mother's creative side." Sabine chuckled as she wrapped her arms around Ezra.

"Yes, she does need to learn about respect." He laughed contradicting her assumption it was a boy.

"So… I think it's a boy, you think it's a girl." Sabine looked down at her flat stomach and rubbed it a little bit.

"Suppose its twins?" He questioned, but died cackling at her expression.

"You better pray its not, I will kill you personally if I have to go through that twice at a time." Sabine threatened. She knew it was an empty threat, but it made her feel better. Feeling all the excitement of the day, and the baby, drain her of her energy, Sabine decided to go to bed.

Ezra soon followed her, not wanting to leave her side in case she needed anything. When he got there, Sabine pounced him, like a Loth-cat in the bushes. Stumbling back to the bed, the two fell down on the mattress. Sabine seemed to have a renewed sense of energy as she plastered her lips to his not wanting to let up.

"Sabine, won't this hurt the baby?" Ezra asked her concerned for her and the child.

"Oh no. Uh uh. I am not being celibate for the next 9 months. I've done some research before, and it is okay to have sex up until about the time the baby is due." She smiled down at him. She had him cornered. She continued to ravage her boyfriend well into the midnight hours.

The following week, they had an appointment to see the doctor at the clinic. Sabine had experienced only slight morning sickness the day of. Currently Ezra was kneeling beside her in the refresher.

"Its alright, I'm right here with you." Ezra soothed as he rubbed her back and held her hand.

Sabine responded by hurling once more. After about 10 more minutes she was finished and got up.

"Alright, I think I'm good to go now love." She attempted a weak smile. Ezra caught on to her slight misery and pulled her into an embrace.

"You don't have to worry my love." Ezra spoke softly, "You won't be alone through this."

With that last declaration the two walked to their speeder to go into town. Ezra drove, not too fast, as not to upset Sabine's stomach again. They pulled up outside the clinic and walked inside. The lady up front was kind enough to hand them a form and explain what all needs to be filled out. After completing said form, they sat in the waiting room and watched the TV on the wall playing an old clip of the rebels fighting on Lothal. It just so happened that it was the Ghost crew that was featured. The caption read "The Initial Spark of Rebellion." This formed a tear in Sabine's eye.

"Damn hormones," She muttered to no one in particular.

Before long the young couple was called back to see the doctor. Due to the advanced medical tech, everything could be seen much earlier than they thought.

"Alright let's see what we have here." the doctor said smiling as he applied the gel to Sabine's stomach. Ezra sat back, holding Sabine's hand as the x-ray machine came from the wall. "Well everything seems in order. The babies are looking quite healthy."

"That is good news, "Sabine paused for a moment taking in fully what he had said. "Wait… Babies?"

"Indeed Ms. Wren, it would appear you are having twins. Would you like to know the gender?" The doctor asked kindly.

Ezra looked at Sabine; it looked as if she was about to cry. Remembering their earlier conversation about the possibility of twins, he became worried about her. Looking further into the emotions she projected, he found nothing but happiness and love for her unborn children.

"Yes please." Sabine eagerly spoke up.

"It would appear you are having twin girls. Would you like to see them?" The doctor asked, seeing the joy radiating from the couple.

"Yes please." Sabine said, eyes still fixated on Ezra. The doctor turned the camera around and was able to point out 2 little, what looked like, blobs.

"Here they are." He said smiling.

"Oh Ezra, this is the best day of my life." Sabine started crying tears of joy as she squeezed Ezra's hand.

"Alright I'm going to prescribe you so prenatal vitamins, some pills to help with your morning sickness, and some other miscellaneous things for other pregnancy side effects." The doctor said handing Ezra a piece of paper with the information on it.

"Thank you, Doc." Ezra said beaming down at his girlfriend, who's eyes were still on the camera.

"Anytime, I always enjoy seeing a couple's joy at the initial checkup. I will also schedule a date in the future for another checkup." The doctor said as he removed the gel and put the camera up.

Ezra helped Sabine off of the bed, thanked the doctor again and went home. As they exited the lift, Sabine stood for a moment paused in thought. Ezra noticed this and could feel the anxiety flowing from her.

"E-Ezra? We will have to tell my parents about this." Sabine said in a shaky voice.

"I know love, don't worry. I will be right beside you the entire time." Ezra tried to sound brave, but Sabine knew him well enough.

"You know, I know when you are trying to act tough right?" Sabine chuckled as she read his mind.

"Yea, but its true. I will stand by you the whole time when this conversation comes. Even if your parents find me not worthy to be with you, I will stand by your side for the good of our children." Ezra declared as he wrapped his arms around her to comfort her.

"Ezra?" Sabine whispered.

"Yes my love?" Ezra soothed.

"We have to get married." Sabine forced out. She wasn't afraid of marrying him, she feared his response.

"I know. I said I will stand by you, and I mean it. I'm in this for the long haul. I love you Sabine Wren, nobody will take me from you. And that is a promise." He comforted her anxiety, enough for her to smile and let him hold her. The fears of the wrath of the Wren clan could wait. Right now, it was just them. Ezra, Sabine, and their unborn twins. Ezra could sense through the force, the beginning of the new lives. He could here the second heart beat of his children.

Alright, this was an interesting chapter. I had planned on them starting the journey to Krownest by now, but I guess that can wait till tomorrow's chapter. I hope you all are enjoying so far. Someone has gotten close to discovering my theme pattern, however, the title names were decided before the chapters were written. Do with that info what you will. Oh, and by the way. The title theme will be revealed at the end of the final chapter, whenever that may be. Until next time, TurboKnight335 signing off.
