Endgame
Six and Raul went back to the Presidential Suite where all of the Companions and surprisingly Arcade are present in the dining room as their meeting place.
Six announced to everyone. "We're in the endgame now everyone. I will meet up with Lanius to fight at Hoover Dam. I will personally select a group to come with me to the Dam."
She pointed fingers at the people she'd take with her. "Ulysses, Veronica, Christine, ED-E and Rex. You guys are with me." Then she pointed at the others. "Raul, I need you to go to Novac, Primm and Goodsprings and tell them to stay inside their homes as the battle for Hoover Dam will start." She pointed at Cass. "Cass, tell Barton to cease all caravan activities during this time of war." She pointed at Arcade. "Head back to the Mormon Fort and care for the refugees there. I'll send ED-E to talk to you." She pointed at Lily. "Head back to Jacobstown grandma. I believe that Marcus and Keene are going to need all the help they can get to keep order around that place."
She asked. "Anyone has questions?" Nobody did.
"Alright, let's do this."
(At Legate's Camp)
Six and her entourage went to the camp and found the men ready for battle. When Six went inside the tent, one of the Praetorians informed the Legate that she is here. She saw him make a pile of bodies and worshipping Mars. Once that is done, he went to her. He explained that General Oliver is present and her objective is to kill her. After explaining his name and other questions regarding the Dam, he finally said.
"Mar's eyes are upon you. Do not fail him - or us."
She left the tent and saw the Legionnaires exit the gate. Her entourage followed them. They engaged any trooper that stands in their way. Veronica and Christine made short work of the few remaining Ranger snipers that stayed in the Republic. Rex flushed out any troopers out of their cover while ED-E used his laser to shoot the troopers trying to shoot Rex.
Then suddenly a Vertibird came out and Judah Kreger, Doctor Henry and Orion Moreno got out of the Vertibird and assist in taking down the troopers.
"Enclave! To me!" Six ordered them.
"We're right behind you! For Navarro!" Judah declared as he, Henry and Moreno followed her.
They made their way to the checkpoints to see the Boomers' bomber made a carpet bombing run on the troopers, killing them.
They are on their way to the visitor center where the howitzer the Legion repaired fired some shells at a cliff that has nothing on it. Six had to admit to herself that Oliver is a good strategist in his own right.
They went inside the visitor center and made short work of the troopers in. They went inside the lower levels of the Dam and saw that the power plant levels are in chaos because of the Legionnaires and some Brotherhood Paladins backing them up are engaging the troopers.
Thanks to the Legionnaires and the Paladins, the remaining NCR resistance is wiped out and the way to Oliver's Compound is clear.
Six ordered her entourage and the Enclave remnants. "Everyone, Wait here. Ulysses and ED-E, you both are with me."
ED-E beeped in acknowledgement and Ulysses said. "The lessons of the Divide will be upon us this day."
They went inside and saw the General upstairs. They had to take the long route around as there are walls and encountered a few rangers on Oliver's payroll. ED-E was helpful as it scanned targets ahead of the Courier's and alerted Six and Ulysses of any traps like mines and tripwires. They finally cornered Oliver at his own office with heavy troopers to defend him and a face that the Courier recognized.
Boone.
The man had reenlisted after he found out that his old unit had been slain at the hands of the Great Kahns. After finding out that it was Six who is responsible for that, he helped out Oliver by training some of the troopers to become snipers five days after the rangers left the Mojave. Since, then he had purchased a sniper rifle to replace his default hunting rifle with the pay Oliver gave him.
Six and ED-E engaged Oliver and his troopers while Ulysses attacked Boone.
Boone made some shots with his sniper rifle but Ulysses easily evaded them. The original Courier Six sprayed some 12.7 rounds from his Submachine gun at Boone and forced the sniper into cover. Boone tried to peek from his cover to snipe the Frumentari but Ulysses was immediately on to him because he used a Stealth Boy. The two struggled but Ulysses gained the upper hand in strength and head butted Boone away, causing the sniper to lose grip on his weapon. Ulysses tossed the delicate weapon away and saw Boone unsheathe his Machete. He pulled out Old Glory and they started a melee match. Boone was forced to doge Ulysses' swings and made a lucky stab at Ulysses' shoulder. The Courier was undeterred and lifted Boone's Machete off of him with Old Glory with ease. The two entered in a lock only for Ulysses to win it by grabbing the top of his staff and forcing it down and then smacking Boone in the face with the bottom tip and then kicking the sniper way.
Boone was knocked down and Ulysses charged at him with Old Glory ready to be swung down at the sniper. Boone barely avoided the swings but realized too that he would end up hitting his face with a wall. Ulysses looked ready to swing it down at Boone's head only to feel a swinging object heading it's way.
Six's Orange Lightsaber.
Pinning Boone's chest with his feet, Ulysses used Six's weapon to impale the sniper with its plasma tip. Boone tried to stop it by grabbing Ulysses' arms as the man tried to press it into his face. It was a valiant effort but in the end, Ulysses was stronger and then finally pulled away only to impale Boone's Head with the Lightsaber, He decapitated the Dead sniper for good measure.
Ulysses threw the Orange Lightsaber back at Six who used it to continue her aggressive swings against Oliver who couldn't get a single shot at her. ED-E baked a Satchel Charge and spat it out of its 'face' at the heavy trooper next to it, the mine exploded and killed him. ED-E also disarmed another heavy trooper's light machine gun. It shot the heavy trooper two times in the torso and then one more in the head. Thanks to the Follower's weapons upgrade, ED-E instantly disintegrated that trooper.
Oliver gritted his teeth seeing as how Six didn't wasn't giving him an opening or even wasn't letting up in her attacks. He made a fatal mistake when he grabbed a knife and tried to stab Six with it. Six sidestepped it and cut the general's arm off. Oliver hissed in pain trying to block out the pain of the loss of his arm. Using his remaining right arm, Oliver used his .44 magnum revolver to shoot at Six. The woman let him hit her and he made two shots at her chest and one at her head. They hit dead on and he smirked, expecting her to fall.
She didn't.
Six made a smug smile as he approached the downed general. Oliver tried to shoot her again but screamed when Six stabbed her Red Lightsaber at his stomach. He felt her grab his hand and them slowly but surely point the magnum's business end at his face, her strength overpowering his own.
When General Oliver made a face of surprise of the magnum aimed at his face, the Courier made his finger pull the trigger and then...
BAM!
Oliver died by a headshot, for good this time. Six pulled out her Red Lightsaber and holstered her two Lightsabers at her waist.
She went to Ulysses and ED-E and said. "Let's head back and report to the Legate. He will be pleased."
Ulysses commented. "The Bear is defeated with Oliver dead. The Bull is victorious all thanks to your efforts." ED-E beeped in agreement.
They went out of the compound and saw Legate Lanius walking to them.
He announced. "This slaughter pleases me. No act is more sacred than consecrating a site in the blood of one's enemies. The rest of the dam is fully under our control. A few pitiful holdouts remain, but their time is short. The general was the last source of concern. With their commander dead, the NCR will pull out of this region, allowing our conquest to continue westward unopposed for a time."
He looked at the Courier. "The Legion will swell with the number of slaves we will claim from this place, and the tribute we gather will fund further campaigns. Perhaps, in time, I will be granted the honor of conquering the land known as California. But for now, we rest. Know that your efforts are appreciated and will not go unrewarded. But we can speak of that later. For now, come, we must see to the burning of the dead."
Then Lanius left. Six saw the Enclave remnants next to the Legionnaires.
Judah spoke. "I'm glad to have some payback after all these years. I've never seen Moreno so giddy before as if the years hadn't gotten to him."
Six replied. "I'm glad that you guys are able to assist me. You have your fair share of kills against the NCR. You guys should get out of here while the chaos is still going on."
Judah nodded and extended a hand. "We will. I'll contact Daisy and have her pick us up. Thanks for bringing us together and send Arcade our regards."
Six shook Judah's hand and answered. "I will. Farewell guys."
Judah and the remnants left the Dam while the Legion and the Brotherhood let them go as they contributed to the battle.
Caesar's Legion has won Hoover Dam and in extension the wasteland. The Legionnaires under Lanius' command were quick to overrun the remaining NCR outposts and established their own. The Brotherhood of Steel looted the salvaged power armor off of the dead heavy troopers then the Paladins left the Dam, satisfied with their share.
(At Freeside, Mormon Fort)
Julie, Arcade and the rest of the Followers are working around the clock to provide the people with medical supplies then suddenly ED-E came in.
"Arcade, Julie? Can you guys hear me?"
Julie replied. "We hear you Six."
"Good. I don't have much time but I have a plan that will spare the locals from the Legion's onslaught."
Arcade said. "Let's hear it."
"As you may know, Caesar promised to spare the Followers of the Apocalypse as thanks for curing him of his brain tumor however that promise doesn't extend to Freeside locals. Your job is to gather ALL of the locals and hide them in the Fort. You are to hide EVERYONE meaning the Kings, the Garret Twins, Mick and Ralph and all of the locals in your Fort. You have any questions?"
Julie asked. "How do we get the Kings to come to the Fort?"
"The King owes me a favor for helping him deal with the NCR squatters. Use that favor to persuade him to lead his group into the Fort."
Arcade questioned. "How long until the Legion gets here?"
"The Legion is approaching to Freeside in a march while sending groups to wipe out NCR camps so you have five hours tops to get EVERYONE inside. If you don't do this, all of the locals will die. Remember you have five hours. That's all the time I can give you."
Arcade and Julie said at the same time. "No more questions."
"Good. I won't keep you any longer. I'll alert you when the Legion is at the entrance of Freeside."
The Followers set to work immediately. Julie made her way to the Kings School Of Impersonation and used the Courier's favor to convince the King to have his group head inside the old Mormon Fort, Pacer was resistant but Julie pointed out that the Legion is coming and they will be cut down easily. The King forced his second to obey anyway. Arcade went to Mick and Ralph and also the Garret Twins and warned them that the Legionnaires are coming and they should head inside the Fort where it's safe. They didn't need to be told twice as they quickly abandoned their businesses and headed there. All of the Followers ordered the locals to head inside the Fort.
(The Tops, Aces Theatre)
Dean Domino is singing at the stage when ED-E came in. The eyebot called out to him in Six's voice.
"Partner? What's so important that you come in to interrupt my performance?" Dean asked.
"Dean, Head back to the Lucky 38 immediately. The Legion is coming here and they WILL destroy this place."
Dean's eyes went wide behind his sunglasses as he sputtered out. "Now just hold on. I promised my viewers that I would sing their favorite track. I can't just quit you know, it's bad for business."
"You have around four hours and five minutes to finish your song. When you're done, head to the Presidential Suite. Don't take too long or you'll be buried on a pile of rubble."
Dean sang the people's favorite song to his listeners and they applaud him but the applause was short lived as Six reminded him of the time. He thanked them hurriedly and then left for the Lucky 38 Presidential Suite.
Dean grumpily told the eyebot. "Partner you do realize that you have cost me my career?"
"When all of this is over, I'll find another job for you I promise." Six said through ED-E as the eyebot went to the elevator and then it closed.
Dean went to the game room and took a Nuka-Cola and relaxed for a bit.
(With the Followers-4 hours and 21 minutes later)
The Followers managed to squeeze every person through the already cramped Fort. Every single local from Freeside except the thugs are inside. They made sure to stay away from the entrance though they had to use Julie's room to fit in the extra amount of people. After the remaining minutes passed, ED-E arrived.
"Arcade, Julie report in."
Julie managed to squeeze through the crowd to say. "We hear you. We've gathered all of the people as you asked."
"Good. The invasion starts now. I'll give everyone here a warning so listen carefully as I will not repeat it: Stay inside the Fort and do not go out until the all clear signal is sent. If you go outside during the invasion, you will die and it won't be the Legion's fault however if a legionnaire goes inside, you're free to kill him. That's all." ED-E left the Fort.
It was an agonizingly long two hours of waiting plus some screams from the thugs outside until ED-E came out.
"All clear. You are free to go outside. Do not worry about your businesses as they are completely untouched by the Legion. Just do not interfere with the Legion's business and all will be well. Thank you."
Everyone went outside and tended to their business as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Well, except that there are Legionnaires watching your every move.
(Eight days after the battle. Lucky 38, Presidential Suite)
After receiving commendations from Caesar and Lanius, Six went back to the Suite extremely exhausted however she went to the dining area where everyone is present including Arcade and Lily.
Six called out, barely trying to keep the exhaustion out of her voice. "The Legion won and is now occupying Vegas. I want to hear news about our allies."
Cass spoke first, beaming proudly. "Dale and I have began trade relations with the towns. The Gun Runners or what's left of them joined my caravan after blowing up their factory to deny the Legion. Thanks to you, Caesar recognizes my company and I have more caps than I could spend. The Great Kahns offered to work for my caravan in exchange for food and water and caps to spend. I considered it as my caravan company has a lot of caps and food to pay them."
Veronica went next, smiling ear to ear. "Hardin and McNamara are pleased to have Helios One in their hands and without the NCR to stop them. The weapons and ammo taken from the Silver Rush will keep them stocked for years to come. I heard from McNamara that they are planning start trade relations with Cassidy-Barton Caravans so that they can have food on the table."
Arcade spoke out, face calmed. "The Followers are continuing to heal the wounded but there are less junkies to treat and more injured refugees caused by the Legion. Thanks to Doctor Dala's breakthroughs regarding medicine as well as that food addictive you gave us, we are self-sufficient and with the Legion in Freeside there are no more thugs looking to rob the doctors."
Lily's voice boomed the room. "Doctor Henry found a cure for the Nightkin. Marcus says that more and more mutants are coming to Jacobstown because of Neil and the one man named Vulpes Inculta directing them to our home."
Raul said. "The towns are nervous but thanks to Cassidy-Barton Caravans they might survive. The towns insisted to be independent and Caesar agreed but if only to pay tribute to them. They had no choice but to agree."
Ulysses commented. "A new regime is coming to the Mojave wasteland and it's all thanks to you, the Legion's Agent."
Christine seconded. "You have done plenty of work while Caesar and the rest of his people sat on their butts. I think that you're long overdue for a rest. Let Veronica and I help you relax." Six smiled at her girlfriend but said. "Before we do, I'd like to speak to Dean."
Dean walked to Six. "Do you have jobs for me yet?"
Six sighed and answered. "Only two and it's here in Vegas. One, I can sponsor you as an honorary member of the White Glove Society in my place. You get to have high quality food and drinks however you have to eat HUMAN meat in the Gourmand and you have to walk here if you want to sleep. I don't know much about it as I haven't been in the White Glove Society for a long time. Two, I can have Sarah Weintraub hire you to be a permanent resident of Vault 21. Granted the food there is not Sierra Madre quality but at least you get to have a nice room to stay and Sarah can broadcast your songs around the Vault hotel."
Dean mused at his choices. "I think I'll pick the second option but I'll still go to the Ultra-Luxe to gamble there."
Six nodded and ordered him. "Go to Sarah Weintraub. Tell her I sent you and tell her who you are. She'll give you the room for free and let you record your songs on her radio."
Dean replied. "Many thanks partner. I'll head there now." He left the room and went to the elevator."
Christine asked. "Now that Dean is gone, let me and Veronica take care of you." Wrapping her arms around Six's left one.
Ulysses seconded and smiled behind his mask. "Go now Courier. You have earned your rest."
Not one to be outdone, Veronica hugged Six's right arm and they brought her to her Master Bedroom where they can sleep with Six.
(Epilogue)
And so the Courier who had cheated death in the cemetery outside Goodsprings, cheated death once again, and the Mojave Wasteland was forever changed.
Caesar entered The Strip as though it was his Triumph. The Legion pushed the NCR out of New Vegas entirely, driving them back to the Mojave Outpost. The Legion occupied all major locations, enslaving much of the population and peacefully lording over the rest. Under the Legion's banner, civilization - unforgiving as it was - finally came to the Mojave Wasteland.
Though the Courier herself was just and forthright in her dealings throughout the Wasteland, she helped the Legion achieve victory. Caesar honored her with a golden coin, minted in celebration of her contributions and distributed throughout the Wasteland.
Tabitha and Rhonda went east, through Caesar's land. Occasionally tales of their exploits found their way back West, though few believed them. Eventually the stories concerning the duo were collected and published, and proved to be quite popular with children.
Convinced that his time as a gunslinger was past, Raul made peace with the idea of growing old. After traveling with the Courier for a time, he retired and settled down in Outer Vegas where he would spend his days fixing ancient machinery.
Cautious after the Boomers' display of power at Hoover Dam, Caesar chose to leave the Boomers alone. The Boomers remained isolated but have been seen flying over the Mojave Desert from time to time.
Thanks to the Courier's generosity in allowing them to take Helios One and seizing Van Graff merchandise, the Brotherhood's power increased a bit. The Brotherhood also established trading relations with Cassidy-Barton Caravans for supplies. With technology they have taken from the Silver Rush, the Brotherhood did not seek anymore technology, becoming content with what they have as they are convinced that the Legion doesn't have technology with the latter allowing the Brotherhood to loot all suits of Salvaged Power Armor from the bodies of NCR troops.
Veronica continued to stay at the Courier's side but was pleased to know that the Brotherhood is still alive. She and Christine served as the Courier's escorts throughout Vegas as she is content to know that the Brotherhood's future is bright.
The Fiends were wiped out during the assault on Camp McCarran. Although they died fighting for the Legion and the Great Kahns, it was the Courier who weakened them by killing their leaders. They are at best a means to an end because of their excessive chem addiction that even Caesar was disgusted and unimpressed about. He had the remaining members (if there are any) exterminated.
After the Legion's victory Caesar, out of respect and gratitude for his old fellows, allowed the Followers to care for refugees as they see fit. Although the Followers were intimidated by Legionnaires patrolling streets near them, supply runs are safer because of the Legion and the number of people coming to them for treatment are not too overwhelming for them to handle.
Although he was furious at the Courier for letting the Legion take Hoover Dam, Arcade is grateful to Six for standing up for him and saving the locals of Freeside from the Legion's onslaught. Arcade discovered that the time spent in the Legion did not change Six's good nature and he was happy that the Enclave remnants weren't harmed by the Legion. They remain mostly on good terms and Arcade would help the Legion only because Six ordered him to.
The Legion, preoccupied with its acquisition of New Vegas, scarcely took notice of the town of Goodsprings. Eventually the town formed a militia thanks to weapons and armor from the caravans and kept themselves independent from the Legion.
The slaughter of the Van Graffs and the Crimson Caravan caused no end of trouble for NCR back West. Already struggling, NCR's supply lines suffered further as the two caravans withdrew support from the Mojave until the "massacre in the East was" resolved.
Meanwhile Cass and Dale Barton made a successful career in their partnership as caravan merchants. They are thankful to the Courier for this profitable opportunity and the Legion and ordinary people alike praised Cassidy-Barton Caravans for their top quality weaponry, powerful ammo and durable armor.
The Great Kahns ceased their alliance with the Legion thanks to the Courier and Raul's actions. They have formed an agreement with Cassidy-Barton Caravans and left Red Rock Canyon for Camp Golf as per Six's advice.
The agreement is that the company will pay the Kahns with food, water and caps and in return the Kahns will guard the caravans and protect the towns they traded with.
Thanks to the Courier and Lily, a cure for the Nightkin schizophrenia was found shortly after Doctor Henry's experiment concluded. Nightkin and other super mutants flocked to Jacobstown and the town became known as a haven where a mutant could find peace.
Lily was encouraged by the Courier to take her medication regularly. Lily's mind eventually attained a semblance of clarity. As a result, she could no longer remember her grandchildren and cast aside the recording of them. It wasn't a real loss as she and another Nightkin named Dog formed a romantic relationship together and they even had a child together named Melody. Yes, the same Melody from the Fort, the slave girl. Six brought Melody to them and they became loving (grand)parents to the girl who was happy to have a family who cares about her and is proud to live in Jacobstown with Dog and Lily as her (grand)parents.
Impressed with the Kings' continued attacks upon NCR citizens and soldiers, the Legion offered them a chance to be assimilated, the Kings refused so they decided to have the Kings pay tribute to them. The Kings paid the Legion and took everything from the School of Impersonation then left for North Vegas where they quickly became a safe haven for the people and started another school of impersonation in the Gray. Their numbers as well as the experience the settlers have made for a tough and independent but honest community to hang out with.
With the transplant of Lupa's brain, Rex gained all of the donor's experiences traveling with the Legion. These melded well with his own memories of the Legion, and his new mind quickly adjusted to the myriad of memories.
During the Legion's attack on Novac, Bright Followers returned from their long pilgrimage and fended off the Legionnaires, protecting the citizens from the Legionnaires. The Legion decided to leave them alone and Novac prospered from merchants and the salvage from REPCONN test site.
Most Powder Gangers at the Correctional Facility fled into the Wasteland rather than face the the advancing forces of the Legion. Those brave or foolish to remain were killed or crucified by the merciless Legionnaires.
After the majority of the Vault 19 Powder Gangers joined the Great Kahns, the weaker members scattered throughout the Mojave Wasteland. Though a few manage to erase their pasts, most never survived the journey.
Despite NCR's pledge to support Primm, they abandon the town after loss to Caesar. Though Caesar keeps Primm open for business, its citizens live under the constant watch of Legion soldiers.
With its logs cleared and its systems upgraded ED-E remained a vigilant and constant companion to the Courier. The Followers of the Apocalypse used the information recovered from ED-E on Poseidon Energy to develop new methods to harness the energy of the sun.
Before the attack on Hoover Dam, the rangers denounced the Republic and left the Mojave. Hanlon stayed behind at the Mojave Outpost to direct the evacuation of the few rangers who stayed with Oliver. In the aftermath that followed in the NCR, Hanlon made good of the Courier's suggestion and used the holotape given to him to broadcast Kimball's war crimes throughout the Republic. After denouncing Kimball and Oliver for the formers monstrous ways and the latter's hawkish imperialist ways, Hanlon was elected as the senator of Redding as Six said he would. He mentally thanked the Courier for her kindness and the opportunity to smear Kimball's and Oliver's reputation and finally for leaving the Mojave without any political backlash.
Merciless in their assault on the NCR, the Remnants struck fear into the hearts of even the Centurions at Hoover Dam. Well aware of the full extent of their power, Caesar commanded his troops not to pursue them.
And so the Courier's road came to an end...for now. In the new world of the Mojave Wasteland, fighting continued, blood was spilled, and many lived and died - just as they had in the Old World. Because war...war never changes.
