A/N - I'm just jumping around the timeline here. Doesn't mean the one-shots are over.

Remus woke up in the hospital wing. He wondered why he was there for a while until he remembered about what happened the night before in the shrieking shack. He immediately bolted upright and tried to get out of bed, but his ribs hurt. Poppy came running over, insisting that Remus stay in bed – he had lost a lot of blood and broken bones the night before. He needed to rest. Remus protested, he needed to speak to Albus, immediately. Just as he said this, he heard the door of the hospital wing open and saw Dumbledore walk in. Remus tried to get out of bed again, only to be reminded to stay put.

Albus walked over and sat down, asking how Remus was. Remus immediately asked where Sirius was. Albus responded that he didn't know, however, the prisoner and the condemned hippogriff had escaped together that night. "Where is Harry, Ron and Hermione?" asked Remus suddenly. Albus reassured him that the three students were fine.

"Then Albus, I need to resign from the position. Last night was too close of a call. I could have bitten Harry, Ron or Hermione and I would never be able to forgive myself," started Remus.

"Remus, I refuse to accept your resignation. You are an excellent teacher who made a mistake, like we all do" stated Albus, "thanks to you, three students were supported to find the truth, and an innocent man's story was told."

"Albus, I really can't stay at the school, I want you to accept the resignation," continued Remus.

"And I still refuse to accept it," replied Albus. "Remus, when you are feeling better, the aurors would like to talk to you to find out what happened last night. They've already spoken to Severus, and I've refused them permission to talk to the students, although Harry was desperate to talk to them."

Remus sighed, he felt horrible, but he wanted to set the record straight and try to clear Sirius' name. "Let them come when they're ready" replied Remus.

"I'll send them in when Poppy gives the okay" replied Albus.

Albus left and Poppy came back over to give Remus some more potions. Remus drank the potions then pulled a face "still haven't managed to make them taste good, I see" he told her. Remus felt well after lunch, but Poppy still wouldn't let the aurors come to talk to him. Not until after dinner.

Aurors Shacklebolt and Tonks came in the hospital wing to interview Remus about what had happened the night before. Kingsley Shacklebolt asked Remus if he would take the veritaserum to describe the night. Remus said he would do anything to make them see that Sirius Black is innocent. He drank the potion and answered all questions they asked. Even explaining to them Snape's reason to hate Sirius, hoping that the aurors would listen to him. They finished by asking him if they knew where Sirius was going next. Remus replied he didn't know – he'd only found out this morning that Black had escaped. The aurors told him that they would keep in contact with Remus in case they needed more information.

As the aurors left, Remus saw the hospital wing door open, but no one walked in. Remus counted to ten then said "Harry?"

"How did you know it was me?" asked Harry, still under the cloak.

"The amount of times I saw your father disappear under that cloak, Harry," responded Remus. "Harry, I'm surprised you have come to see me after everything that happened last night."

"Professor, I wanted to make sure you were ok after last night," said Harry.

Remus gave a little laugh "Harry, it should be the other way around. You and I have a lot to talk about, I think. But not now. Madam Pomfrey is coming. Off you go."

Poppy finally told Remus he could leave if he went straight to his own bed, so Remus did, holding the door open for a while before he went through himself, just in case Harry was still around in his cloak.

The next morning when Remus went to breakfast, the Slytherin table made howling noises as Remus walked past. Remus was nervous, until one student yelled out "Watch out, he might bite you and turn you into a werewolf!" Remus turned around and walked out of the hall, straight to Albus' office. He had to resign. There was no other option now it had got out that he was a werewolf. He just had to go to Albus' office and insist that Albus took his resignation.

"Albus, the Slytherins now know about my condition. I can't continue to work here. I'll pack up my things and leave" said Remus.

"I ask you to reconsider, Remus. The students adore you. I've had no complaints from parents or students," replied Albus.

"No, the deal always was that the students don't know about my condition. Whether you accept my resignation or not, I'm not going to be here on Monday morning" replied Remus firmly, "I know it was Severus who told them. Who else could it be?"

"Ah" replied Dumbledore, "I have already punished Severus for that."

There was an awkward silence for a short time before Dumbledore started again "I have spoken to the aurors. They want proof Pettigrew is alive before they will absolve Sirius. I did have the chance to speak to Sirius before he escaped, while he was alone. I give him some suggestions on safe places to go for a while. He wanted to know where you were living. While I wouldn't recommend that he hides out at your cottage, there's a very smart owl in the owlery called Mercury. I would suggest that he could deliver any messages you want to send, even if the person is not at a fixed address."

Remus nodded.

"Remus, Hogwarts is losing a fine teacher in you. Do not be surprised if I keep trying to bring you back," stated Dumbledore, as Remus left.

Remus headed to the owlery. Once there he found Mercury and scribbled his address on a piece of parchment and sealed it magically so that only Sirius would be able to open it. He attached the letter to Mercury's leg and sent him off. Remus headed back to the castle to pack up his things. He wanted to leave the castle as quickly as possible before he could see any more of his students.
