An Omen of Things to Come

The clock struck 11 and Alexa decided that she should go back to May's cottage to stay with her mother. She returned her three Pokemon and left Ash's, ready for their training that would happen in the morning. Ash closed the door behind her and he and May wished Alex, who had made himself comfortable on the couch, a good night and entered Ash's room.

Ash climbed into bed as May undressed in front of him. Taking off her white jacket and black undershirt, she changed into an orange tank top and green short shorts. Ash couldn't help but grin at his fiancé, who blushed as she untied her bandana and threw it at Ash. She walked across the room and climbed under the cover with Ash, before kissing him on the lips.

"Oh my Arceus," May said looking into Ash's blue eyes. "I am so in love with you."

"And I love you too," Ash said, smiling at the Hoenn native. "What's going on in your head right now?"

"It's been a crazy couple of weeks," May said. "But honestly, I feel alright. I miss Manaphy so much, but I know we're all going to see each other again in a few days time. How about you?"

"I'm getting better," Ash said. "My head was running all over the place, but I'm feeling confident that we're going to win. It has got me thinking though."

"About what?" She asked.

"About how great it is to be around friends and family again," Ash said, sitting up against the backboard of his bed. "You, Paul and Ritchie gave up everything so you could leave for Mount Silver with me. After spending so much time with the three of you, I honestly figured that's how we were going to live the rest of our lives. Instead, I've made a bunch of new friends, settled the score with old enemies and finally made a name for myself after winning the All-Star League. It made me prove to myself that I am capable of success... What I'm getting at here is that now that we both have each other, we don't really need this mountain anymore."

May smiled and sat up next to her fiancé. She swung one leg over Ash's waist and straddled him, facing towards him. She put her hands on his shoulders and planted a kiss on his lips.

"Mount Silver has been our home for the past 11 years. If you decide that a change of scenery is in order, I'll be with you every step of the way," May said.

"Thanks Contest Girl," Ash said. "This is definitely a conversation we can have after this oncoming war."

"Of course," May said. "Where did you have in mind though?"

"I know you talked about going back and living in Hoenn someday, but what if we went somewhere a little more... adventurous," Ash said to his future wife. He kissed her once more, and the two of them continued to talk about their upcoming future together.

At two in the morning, 5 Days before the Arceus Eclipse Event, Ash and May slept next to each other in Ash's bed. In his dream realm that Ash often went to while he slept, he meditated across from Darkrai. "What do you think, Darkrai?" The trainer said to the Mythical he had befriended months ago. "How do you think this final battle is going to go?"

'I am confident in our abilities,' Darkrai said. 'But we can not take Giovanni for granted. The fact that Mewtwo is not by our side brings me sadness, for I feel my best friend is in serious danger.'

"I feel the same way Darkrai," Ash said to the Nightmare Pokemon. "He should be here with us right now…"

Darkrai opened its eye, which glowed bright blue in color. 'Something is wrong…' Darkrai stated, levitating off the ground. 'We're not alone…'

Ash opened his eyes within the dream and rose to his feet. The bright room in his mind soon turned orange in color. Ash cried out in pain, as something powerful had entered his mind. Ash clutched his head, crying out in agony.

'Ash!' Darkrai said, flying over to its trainer. Before Darkrai could touch its trainer, it faded right in front of Ash.

"Darkrai!" Ash called, before crumpling to his knees clutching his head once more. In front of the trainer appeared a tall, black figure about seven feet in height. The Pokemon had harsh, purple eyes and a long black tail, which glowed orange at the tip. Jutting out of its left shoulder was a large crystal which had an orange glow as well.

Ash opened his eyes, which glowed blue with Aura, but he was still immobilized by this dark figure. The Pokemon in front of him was a Mewtwo. One who's essence had appeared to be corrupted by evil. It stuck out its right hand, sending a violent wave of Psychic energy at Ash.

Ash cried out in agony, as he sat up, waking up from his sleep. May, who was startled, also awoke next to him in a panic. Ash breathed heavily, clutching his chest. Knocking first, before emerging into the room was Alex and Meowth, followed by Blue. Rising out of the shadows in the corner of the room was Ash's Darkrai.

"Ash!" May said with worry in her voice. "Ash, what's wrong?"

"What's wrong, mate?" Alex said, kneeling next to Ash's bed. "I felt some weird disturbance just now."

"It was Mewtwo, wasn't it," Blue said to Ash. Ash, who had not found his voice yet, shook his head 'yes.'

The four trainer's had moved into Ash's dining room area and sat around a small table that fit the four trainers. Blue moved away from Ash's stove, mixing him a cup of tea. Blue set the beverage in front of Ash, who was having his back rubbed by May. Standing on its legs, with its arms crossed was Darkrai, who had briefly witnessed what occurred in Ash's head, before being kicked out entirely.

"Drink this," Blue said. "It's Jasmine Tea. It will help calm your nerves. What exactly did you see?"

"It was a Mewtwo," Ash said. "But it was our Mewtwo… I could just tell. He was in pain, but at the same time he radiated this evil energy… Like he wanted to hurt me."

"That can't be," May said. "Mewtwo is your friend and wouldn't do that."

"Ash… I know that you don't want to believe this… but I'm afraid the Mewtwo you once knew is gone," Blue said.

"No," May said. "That can't be true! Mewtwo is not evil!"

"It all fits together, May," Blue said. "Giovanni said that he had big plans for your Mewtwo. He must have found some way to corrupt him as a way to get back at you and further his agenda."

"I have to agree with Blue on this one," The Pokemon Professor from Galar said. "I've seen Galar Particles corrupt Pokemon before… it's not a pretty sight."

"The thing is that Giovanni is a smart man, who has a lot of smart people working for him," Blue said. "I'm not so sure these are just Galar Particles at play here. It could be something else entirely. And whatever it is, it's dangerous."

Ash buried his face in his hands and let out a groan. He wished it was a nightmare, but typically Ash's dreams were more prophetic than just nightmares.

"We have to save him," Ash said. "But for now we need to rest up. We'll meet each other across the battlefield soon enough."

Blue, May and Alex nodded their heads. Blue exited Ash's hut and decided to patrol the mountain. May and Alex returned to their respective beds and attempted to fall back to sleep. Meanwhile, Ash stood outside with Darkrai and looked into the night sky.

'I'm going out to look for Mewtwo,' Darkrai said. 'It's time we bring him home. Suicune has been keeping watch over the Rocket Freighter south of Cinnabar Island, and Mewtwo is on it. It's time I go pay them a visit.'

"Be safe out there Darkrai," Ash said to his Pokemon. "We don't know what we're dealing with yet."

'If things go south, I'll get out of there,' Darkrai said. 'But if the worst does happen-' Ash embraced his Pokemon in a hug. Typically, Darkrai was not one to express emotions, but it couldn't help but hug its trainer. Darkrai then shot out off the side of the mountain, flying into the night sky.
