Chapter 10

As soon as the gang left the room, Penny opened her hospital gown and began feeding her daughter. Sarah latched on quickly to her mother, hungry for her nourishing milk as Leonard and William looks on, happy for the newest addition to their family.

"You did really good this time honey." Said Leonard as he lightly touched the baby's head.

"I know. She's so beautiful isn't she?" Penny said.

"She's perfect honey. Just like her mother." Leonard said as Penny pulled him in for a kiss.

They stayed quiet while Sarah drank her fill. When the baby was finished feeding, Leonard took her from Penny to burp her on his shoulder. This time, the couple was more confident in handling the infant, learning from their past when William was born.

"Do you wanna hold her?" Leonard asked his son. William was a little anxious and unsure.

"I don't know how daddy." Said William. "I don't want to hurt her."

"It's gonna be alright son. I won't let her fall. Just keep your arms steady, okay?" said Leonard.

"Okay daddy." Said the child as Leonard slowly gave the baby over for William to hold while Penny looks on. Sarah stirred a little then went immediately back to sleep as William nervously carried his baby sister.

"Hey Sarah. I'm your brother William. I love you so much." William whispered to the baby. Sarah screamed and cried, being woken from her sleep. Leonard quickly took the baby from his son, and rocked her back to sleep.

"She really is your mother's daughter." Leonard said to William.

"Why do you say that daddy?" he asked.

"Because, she doesn't want anyone bothering her when she's sleeping!" said Leonard smiling as he looked at Penny glaring at him. "I love you honey!" he added.

"I should have punched you when I had the chance." Penny mumbled.

When Sarah was already asleep, Leonard decided to put her on the bassinet beside the bed as Penny laid down to recover her energy. William was also tired so Leonard let him sleep on the sofa in their room, covering him with a small blanket. He went back and sat beside Penny, holding her hand, thankful that his wife and daughter were safe and sound.

"Leonard." Penny said.

"Yes honey." He said.

"Let's not do this again. Please." She said.

Leonard looked at her. "I thought you wanted three kids?" he asked.

"I know but please, let Sarah be the last. I don't think I can do this anymore." Said Penny. Leonard leaned over and kissed Penny on the lips.

"Okay honey. We'll stop at two kids. I promise." He said.

"Thank you honey." Penny said.

"Why don't you close your eyes and get some sleep. You need to get your strength back." He said as he pulled the blanket over his wife.

"I love you so much." Penny said pulling Leonard for another kiss.

"I love you too!" he said as Penny slept, letting the exhaustion take her over.

Leonard then went and sat on the chair beside the bed and stretched his arms and legs, feeling relieved and hopeful for the new chapter of their lives.
