A/N: Look, I know some of you have been wondering whether or not Hinata would be included in the plot too since Naruto saw her naked during the bikochu beetle arc, and I've decided that she will not be included since Naruto did not know that it was her at the waterfall and because it happened several years ago. Also, I really appreciate the reviews! Now, onto the chapter!
If it's bad, review, please.
Naruto and Hanabi joined the group by sitting down in the booth they were in. The two were still holding hands and much to Hanabi's displeasure were seated right next to Hinata, who still had that fake smile on her face. Naruto felt Hanabi grip his hand unintentionally and knew she was worried about something. He squeezed her hand in response, letting her know that he was there if something was bothering her, and Hanabi appreciated the gesture. He was the only person she could rely on right now so she was happy that he was there for her and hoped she could be there for him if he ever had any worries.
Now, they both knew that there was definitely going to be questions concerning why Naruto chose Hanabi as his date, so they would try their best to answer the questions without making the atmosphere uncomfortable. After all, there was no way that they would tell anyone about the mistake they made, and what it led to.
They both proved to be right because not long after they sat down, Ino decided to ask a question about the two. Naruto wasn't surprised since Ino loved to know about other people's romantic endeavors.
"So, how did you two end up together?" Ino asked, barely able to contain her excitement at seeing another couple start to blossom. The rest of the group had also looked to be interested in this story, especially Hinata, which made Hanabi uncomfortable.
She did not expect the question to come this soon so she couldn't come up with a response. Luckily, Naruto seemed to be prepared for this kind of thing since he gave an answer, and the answer he gave more than shocked her.
"Actually, Hanabi c-confessed to me a few days ago, and I had never given her an answer until yesterday. So, here we are." Naruto said with a face mixed with nervousness and confidence. Ino and everyone else seemed to be surprised but satisfied with this story, other than Hinata, who hardened her gaze on her sister.
Hanabi, on the other hand, was now bright red. She had only expected Naruto to give them a minimal response, not make up a story that not only embarrassed her but also made it look she had been pining after the blonde just like Hinata had been. To top it all off, the two were still holding hands, which made Hanabi feel like everything he said had actually happened. It made her very nervous.
"Awww, that's so cute!" Ino said, making Hanabi want to shrink.
"I am happy. Why? Because Naruto is no longer lonely." Shino stated, ignoring the glare sent his way by Naruto.
"It's about time Naruto got a girlfrien-" Sakura started before she was interrupted.
"WHAT A TRULY YOUTHFUL STORY! YOUR LOVE WILL SHINE BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN!" Lee yelled, gaining a few stares in the process.
"T-Thanks." He said, blushing. Naruto didn't expect himself to say that at all. He just said the first thing that came out of his mouth, not knowing that it was a story of love between him and Hanabi.
Naruto didn't even know how he felt about Hanabi. He considered them being friends, but he never thought about the possibility of wanting to be more than that. When the mistake happened with Hanabi, he saw her only as his friend's sister, or someone of a younger generation.
But as Naruto started to get pulled into Hanabi's situation with her clan, he had started to get closer to her and began to see her as a friend. Then, once she left her clan and began to stay at his place, his feelings of friendship toward her had started to fade and some unfamiliar feeling had started to take its place. And frankly, he was afraid of this new feeling.
Mainly because if it was unfamiliar, Naruto wouldn't know what feelings to expect or where these new feelings could lead, it had the potential to change or destroy his relationship with Hanabi entirely, and Naruto didn't know if wanted to risk that.
Putting those thoughts aside, Naruto was just happy that nothing was weird and nobody questioned the pairing of him and Hanabi, though it was fake. Many people would never think of dating someone in a younger generation than them, and many shinobi tended to avoid relationships in general.
Despite how confident and cheerful he acted, Naruto very much cared about what other people thought of him. Back when he was young, most of his persona from back then was him wanting attention, which is why he regularly pranked the village. It didn't matter that the attention he got was negative, it was still attention, which was what he wanted. So, he kept pranking.
But once he got back from his training trip with Jiraiya, other than wanting to protect his friends and his nation, he no longer felt the need to want attention. This was mainly due to the fact that there was almost always some kind of major conflict happening within the Nations. But that did not mean that he didn't care what other people thought of him. With the many friends and allies he had started to gain, he didn't want to lose them, which meant making sure that he didn't do anything that would cause them to react negatively.
"Still, who would've thought that you had a crush on Naruto, the most troublesome person in the village?" Shikamaru added.
"Hey! I'm right here, ya know!" Naruto said, knowing full well Shikamaru didn't care. Hanabi giggled nervously.
"A-As troublesome as he is, Naruto has been a great friend to me recently, and I c-couldn't help but want something more." Hanabi said, trying her best to go along with Naruto's story, she would definitely get back at him.
Though she had to admit, all this pretending didn't sit right with her. Once she came here and started to pretend to be Naruto's date, she realized how much it felt real to her. Her brain wanted her to just stand up and tell everyone that they were faking it, but not only would she embarrass herself, her heart was also telling her otherwise.
It was telling her that it was okay to pretend, it was okay to go along with it, and that it was okay to enjoy it, which was true. She really did like pretending to be Naruto's date, which set off all sorts of flags in her head.
She felt like it was wrong to enjoy something like that because she herself didn't know how she felt about Naruto. Being friends with Naruto was already something she was aware of and something she accepted, but she had never imagined a scenario where she would want something else. Hanabi didn't like this feeling, not at all. But she could at least do something about it, and there was only one choice when it came to doing something about this. Telling Naruto. Though she wasn't sure what she would tell him.
Hanabi's thoughts were interrupted by a slam, attracting the attention of the rest of the group. Hanabi looked at the noise to see her older sister, eyes covered by her bangs with her palm on the table. She suddenly got a bad feeling.
"Sister, I think we need to have a talk." Was all Hinata said. It was only 9 words, but the entire group knew to some extent what, or rather who was on her mind, Naruto, who was looking very confused right now.
Hinata was sick, sick of hearing everyone compliment Hanabi and Naruto's fake relationship. She knew Hanabi was lying. Even though the sisters had been distant to each other for most of their lives, they still knew each other very well, and when Hanabi was answering their questions and going along with what Naruto was saying, Hinata could tell that she was lying.
She wasn't sure why they were doing this though. For what reason would they have to pretend? Was there a benefit to it? Did they have some kind of agreement? It really hurt, having to see Hanabi be so close with the person she loved.
She had genuinely wanted to understand Hanabi's situation (if there even was one), but she could no longer be patient, there was no way that she would sit there and watch as the person she loved was taken from her. For once in her life, she finally decided to do something about her love for Naruto, though she might be too late to make any kind of change. Still, she had to try, so that's what she did.
She stood up and slammed her palm on the table, trying to get Hanabi's attention. There were other ways she could do it that didn't involve gaining the stares of everyone nearby, but she was too irritated to do that. Nonetheless, she had gotten the attention of her younger sister who, along with everyone else, was looking at her confusedly. Her voice was normally quiet and reserved, but she needed to get her point across.
"Sister, I think we need to have a talk." She said confidently, her voice cold. Everyone was silent. everything was silent until Hanabi responded.
"O-Ok." She replied nervously. Hinata got up and walked outside, Hanabi took this as a sign to follow her, she had a feeling something like this would happen eventually.
She didn't know how long they walked, but by the time they stopped, they were a decent walk away from the restaurant. They found themselves in a small clearing and her sister seemed to be thinking about something. When Hinata finally turned around, her eyes were full of many things, sadness, regret, and seriousness.
"Onee-sa-" Hanabi's attempt to say something was cut off as she noticed that the veins near Hinata's temples were bulging, which only meant one thing.
Hanabi was a bit confused by this, and if she had to admit, a bit afraid. Before she knew it, a palm had met with Hanabi's stomach, sending her flying to the ground.
A/N: Sorry for the cliffhanger. Is it bad? Is it rushed? Please let me know.
