Chapter 23 Leaving Me

Marluxia's POV

Ten Minutes Later

Once we got Kenai out of the beaver's nest, we all sat down next to each other.

"Nita", I started. "Are you okay? You looked afraid to grab the bag."

"It's...it's nothing", Nita lied.

"It's not nothing", Kenai stated. "What's going on Nita?"

With that...Nita sighed in defeat before giving her answer.

"It's...it's the water", she revealed.

"The water", I asked.

"When Kenai and I were kids, I fell through the ice we were on and into the water", Nita revealed.

"I remember", Kenai revealed. "That was the day we went to Hokani Falls and I gave you the amulet."

"That's why I didn't grab the bag in the water", Nita revealed.

"Hey", Kenai started. "We got it back. That's all that matters, right?"

"Right", Nita agreed.

"But Kenai", Koda started. "Isn't there a big river you have to cross to get to Hokani Falls?"

"What", Nita asked in fear.

"It's okay", Kenai reassured. "We'll get through it together."

The Next Day

We had spent two days traveling and had now made it to the river.

When we got there, Nita looked down at it in fear.

"It's the only way", Kenai stated.

Then...he seemed to get an idea.

"Let me help you."

Five Minutes Later

Nita was currently on Kenai's back.

"I changed my mind", she said in fear.

"Nope", Kenai said. "It's too late for that. We're going across. Whatever happens, don't let go."

"Okay."

With that Nita and Kenai crossed the river.

A few moments later, they popped out of the water on the other side.

"I did it", Nita yelled happily. "I did it!"

With that, I looked down at Koda, who did not look happy.

During our trip, Kenai has been focusing a lot on Nita and not on him.

"He never has time for me anymore", he stated. "He's too busy helping her."

"Isn't that a bit over dramatic Koda", I asked. "It's only been a couple of days. Plus, once we burn the amulet, Nita will leave and you'll never have to see her again."

"I guess that you're right", Koda agreed sadly.

"Come on", I said before grabbing onto him. "Let's cross this river."

With that, I used Blizzaga to make an ice bridge for me and Koda to cross.

"Cool", Koda stated. "Literally."

After Koda said that, him and I crossed the bridge.

When we got to the other side, we saw Kenai and Nita and listened in on their conversation.

"So", Nita started. "Hokani Falls. I guess we'll make it there in time."

"I guess", Kenai agreed.

"A lot sure has changed since the last time we were there", Nita pointed out.

"No kidding", Kenai agreed.

Then...Nita said something that took me by surprise.

"Do you ever miss being human", she asked. "I mean, have you ever thought about...changing back?"

Not only was this surprising. Kenai's answer was as well.

"Yeah. I've thought about it."
