Chapter 11: Lost

This chapter was inspired by Katy Perry's song Lost.

Rayna was sitting on the floor in Juliette's bathroom, leaning against the wall. She had thrown up multiple times and was feeling miserable. She heard a couple of girls banging on the bathroom door and shouting "Open the door! We need to pee!" She fumbled her cell phone out of her purse, unlocked it and called Liam.

"Hello?"

"Liam, it's Rayna."

"Are you ok?"

"I don't feel so good. I just wanna go home."

"Ok, listen, you tell me where you are and I'll pick you up, ok?"

He heard her throw up. "Rayna! Can you hear me? Where are you?

"I'm in the bathroom." She sounded really drunk.

"Which bathroom?"

"The one close to the living room."

"Ok Rayna, great, the bathroom close to the living room, listen, I need you to tell me whose house you're at."

"Uhm ooooh sure, I totally forgot to say that. I'm at Juliette's place."

"You're at Juliette Barnes' place?"

"Yes, she's having a party, but I really wanna go home now...but…something's wrong here, everything is spinning. I can't get up but I wanna go home so bad, I'm so tired and I'm feeling really bad." Rayna was crying

"Ok Sweetie, everything will be fine, I promise. Just stay where you are and I'll be there in 20!"

Liam came in through the front door. He spotted Juliette sitting on the couch next to two men and a girl that were about her age, sipping on a drink and giggling. He went over to her.

"Juliette?"

"What are you doing here? I don't think I invited you!"

"Don't worry, I'll leave as soon as I find Rayna."

"Rayna?"

"Tall, redhead, Country Music star, ring a bell?"

"Very funny, Liam. Why would you pick her up?"

"Because she called me, sounding terribly drunk and saying that she was in your bathroom. The one next to the living room."

"Oh, so apparently she's thinking about you when she's in the bathroom," Juliette giggled and the others started laughing.

"Listen, Juliette, this isn't a joke, ok? She sounded terrible and I really just want to find her and take her home safely, so just tell me where the freaking bathroom is, ok?"

"Well ok, take it easy, the bathroom is the second door on the left over there," she said pointing towards the hallway.

Liam rushed to the bathroom and tried to open the door, but it was locked. He knocked. "Rayna? It's Liam. I need you t open the door, Sweetie."

"I'm coming!" Rayna shouted getting to the door on all fours, as she wasn't able to stand up. She unlocked it and opened it. Liam got in and was a little shocked when he saw Rayna.

She was sitting on the floor and looked like hell. Her mascara and her lipstick were smudged, she had vomit in the strands of hair that framed her face and she was only wearing her right shoe. "You really came," she whispered, trying to get up, but falling back down again.

"Hey, Honey, stay, just a second, ok?" He closed the door behind him and locked it again. Then he knelt down next to her. "First we'll get you cleaned up a little and then I'll take you home, ok?"

Rayna nodded sobbing heavily. Liam wet a towel and knelt down beside her. He gently wiped her face and then he wet it again and tried to get the vomit out of her hair.

"I'm so glad you're here," Rayna whispered.

"I'm glad you called."

He got up and picked up Rayna's left shoe, which was lying on the floor. "Ok Cinderella, time to put that one back on," he grinned. She nodded and he helped her put it on. "And now, we'll get outta here," he said lifting her up.

On the next day, Liam woke up at about eleven o'clock. He had slept on the arm chair in Rayna's bed room as he hadn't wanted her to be alone in the state that she'd been in. He looked over to the bed and saw that Rayna was still sleeping. He quietly got up, went into the kitchen and came back with two cups of coffee, a couple of minutes later. He put the cups onto the night stand and softly caressed Rayna's cheek. "Good morning, sleepy head, coffee's ready," he whispered. Rayna blinked and looked at him as if she had seen a ghost. "Liam…what?" she stuttered. Then she remembered that she had called him from Juliette's bathroom. She looked Liam in the eyes. "Please tell me that we didn't…"

Liam giggled. "Believe me, you would remember, if we had."

Rayna let out a sigh and couldn't help smiling over Liam's comment. "Thanks for taking me home, Liam."

"No problem, Rayna."

"The last thing I remember is that I called you."

"Oh well, that's probably for the best."

"What do you mean? How bad was it?"

"Well, let's put it that way, you look beautiful even with vomit in your hair," Liam grinned.

"Oh shoot", Rayna whispered examining her hair.

"Don't worry, I think I got out most of it."

"Oh God, this is so embarrassing." Rayna shook her head and buried her face in her hands.

"Hey, relax, that's what friends are for, right?"

"Thanks again, really, that was so sweet of you!"

"Anytime, Rayna."

"Well I hope this won't happen again anytime soon. Uhm, listen, I know I'm probably not gonna like the answer, but did I say or do anything…you know…like…inappropriate?"

Liam smirked. "You don't wanna know, believe me."

"Oh shoot, Liam, I need to know!"

"Well, ok, but don't tell me I didn't warn you…so, first of all, you vomited onto the floor in Juliette's living room, while I was getting you out."

"Oh no, that's really bad, I won't be able to look her in the eyes ever again. But, wait…you said first of all?"

"Well, yeah…uhm…I made you sit down on your bed and told you to wait for me and then I went in there," he said pointing at Rayna's walk-in closet, "to find you a shirt that you could sleep in and…"

"And what?"

"And when I came back, you were lying on your bed….uhm…well…completely naked."

"Oh my God, this is so embarrassing, I'm so sorry!"

"You don't need to be sorry, I liked what I saw." Liam smirked.

"Oh Lordy." Rayna smiled shaking her head. "Thanks for….you know…not taking advantage of that situation."

"I'm regretting it already," he laughed.

"You're so stupid," Rayna giggled.

After that, Rayna and Liam started meeting up about once or twice a week. They would go for walks, have lunch or dinner, or watch a movie together. Rayna really liked spending time with Liam because he was the only person who really managed to cheer her up and distract her a little from her pain.
