"You sure that's him?" The blonde asked.
"I am certain." The muscular man stated as he handed over a picture.
"Yeah I see it now." The blond replied glancing over the picture. The man in the photo wore a black hoodie with dark blue strings and black jeans matching his swat style boots. Looking up the blond saw the man in the picture sitting alone at a table.
"We should go now, there aren't as many people." Yu stated.
"Yeah, yeah. Overhaul wanted him in one piece." Toya said as he put the photo away. The two had been given very specific instructions from the head of the Shie Hassaikai. The Shie Hassaikai being one of the last remaining Yakuza gangs left were quickly trying to acquire power. Its current leader Kai Chisaki wanted to expand its power and influence through any means.
"Do we have a name for this guy?" Toya asked.
"He goes by "Jackal." Yu replied as they made their way toward the table Jackal sat at.
The morning sun was irritating at best Jackal thought as he tapped on the table. He had been scouting around the city for days looking for any information he could find about the League of Villains. He had come to Hosu to find the League's location or some members but hadn't had any luck in either. He currently was sitting alone at an outdoor park near the edge of town.
"Nothing but dead ends in Hosu and empty bars in Kamino." Jackal sighed. As he sat back and thought of where to go next. He glanced around having noticed two men heading his way.
Oh? Maybe the sun isn't the only thing out to irritate me. Jackal thought as he stood up to greet the two heading toward him.
"Not leaving yet are you?" One of the men asked. The tall and skinny man had wide and almost crazy looking eyes. He had chin length blonde hair that obscured his right eye. His green dress shirt, dark pants, and tie made his seem like an unkept business man. The thing that made him stand out was the long beak shaped plague mask.
"You need to come with us." His partner added. This man was tall, muscular and bald. He wore a similarly boring getup of a dark dress shirt, plain dress pants, and dark dress shoes. Unlike his friend the mask worn by him was white. The mask was essentially a simple medical mask.
"Would love to, really I would but... I'm kind of in a rush so maybe some other time. So yeah it does look like I'm leaving now." Jackal responded.
"That wasn't a request. Overhaul wants you brought to him." The bald one replied.
"Over who?" Jackal asked with boredom.
"You'll learn soon enough." Toya asked.
"Right... Since you two don't understand that I'm busy I'll take my leave." Jackal said turning away from them.
"If you insist." Toya said as Yu rushed forward. The sound of tearing fabric got Jackal's attention. As he turned to look behind him he saw crystals grow rapidly from the bald man's body. They extended outward in various directions and lengths. A large club shaped crystal covered his right arm as he swung toward Jackal. Stepping to the side Jackal couldn't help but smile as the muscular man's attack missed him.
"Finally, something interesting." Jackal said excitedly as Yu swung at him again. Jackal dogged the next few blows easily enough.
"So, you're strong but not very fast? That's kind of boring." Jackal taunted as another swing rushed past him. His focus on the attacker in front of him Jackal failed to notice Toya coming up from behind.
"This fast enough for ya?" Toya questioned as a blade dug into Jackal's shoulder. Jackal reared back smashing the back of his head into Toya's mask. The sudden blow caught Toya of guard causing him to stumble back and release his hold on the blade. Yu swung at Jackal knocking him away. Jackal rolled a few feet away before stopping in a crouched position and clutching his shoulder. His head was pounding as he glared at the beak mask.
"You're going to pay for that. This is my best jacket!" Jackal threated angrily as he pulled the knife from his shoulder.
"Here's your second chance to surrender." Toya answered as Yu began moving toward Jackal.
"I'm going to enjoy this." Jackal said as he squared off against Yu. Jackal held the knife in his right hand and raised it toward Yu. Toya grinned under his mask as Yu rushed toward Jackal who was now waving the knife to taunt them.
"You know I'd like that back!" Toya called out as Jackal took a swing at Yu. The knife flung from Jackal's hand as it neared Yu. The look of surprise on Jackal's face was soon replaced by a painful grimace as Yu's crystalized arm slammed into his chest.
"Still enjoying this?" Toya asked as the knife landed in his opened hand.
"Just getting started." Jackal said angrily as he stood. Toya watched Jackal run toward Yu as a blue aura covered Jackal's body.
So, the kid is finally using it. Took him long enough. Toya thought as Jackal slammed his palms onto the ground. The blue energy raced across the ground toward Yu and upon reaching him engulfed his body. Yu was surprised as his crystals either receded into him or fell to the ground before turning to dust.
"Let's see how tough you are without a club!" Jackal yelled as he slammed a fist into Yu's cheek. He quickly followed up the first blow with a knee to Yu's stomach. The large man stumbled back as Toya leapt forward and slashed at Jackal. Jackal seemed to growl as the blade ripped across the chest of his hoodie.
"Now you're trying to piss me off!" Jackal shouted as he grabbed the arm with the knife. He quickly grabbed the back of Toya's neck and pushed forward causing the man to fall toward the ground. As Jackal watched the man fall he was hit from the side as Yu drove a fist into his jaw. Jackal gritted his teeth and wiped his mouth, a small stain of blood remained on his jacket sleeve.
"Annoying thugs." Jackal spit as he rushed forward. Yu was ready as the blue aura around him faded and a large crystal once again covered his arm. Yu swung recklessly at the incoming Jackal who was hit twice before falling to his knees. He grasped his stomach as he tried to recover. Yu had hit him in the chest and stomach knocking him to floor. As Jackal tried to stand once more Yu delivered a finishing blow to the back of Jackal's head. Jackal's eyes went wide briefly before he fell onto his side and consciousness left him.
"Well that went well didn't it?" Toya said as Yu picked up the now unconscious Jackal.
"We should leave before people start arriving." Yu said as Toya began following him.
"Yeah I know. Can't keep the boss waiting." Toya acknowledged.
"Thank you for this, especially since its on such short notice." Luna said bowing apologetically.
"It's fine, don't worry about it Luna. If it's for the kid then you shouldn't apologize for needing to leave." Manual said as Luna grabbed her bag.
"I just got the call otherwise I would have told you in advance." Luna said as she left.
"Where's she off to?" Nels asked as he walked into Manual's office.
"U.A. called and wants to speak with her." Manual said enlightening him.
"The kid in trouble?"
"It didn't seem like it but she didn't really say." Manual shrugged going back to work.
Luna climbed into the cab as she checked her phone. She hadn't heard from Fuse since they went out to eat and it was bothering her. She sighed as she put the phone away. She would take the cab to the train station and then another cab to U.A. She stared out the window along the ride as a feeling of dread came over her.
Did I push too far? I hope he doesn't hate me... Luna took a deep breath as she arrived at U.A. Stepping out of the taxi the wall that surrounded the campus greeted her.
"The U.A barrier..." She said in awe as she began walking toward the gate.
"Are you Miss Aratross?" A tall yet drastically skinny and slouched man asked standing near the entrance. Looking at the man before her Luna would never have thought that the symbol of peace could seem so... weak. The man before her was the once incredibly powerful All Might now however, he was more of a husk than anything now. Ever since his true form was revealed the image was burned into her head. The frail looking hero standing against overwhelming odds in the Kamino Ward and his miraculous victory.
"Yes I am. You must be All Might... it's an honor to meet you sir." Luna said giving him a respectful bow.
"Thank you for coming, I'm sure you're busy." All Might said as he began to walk. Luna quickly followed him.
"Manual and the others have it under control. And if this is about Fuse than I have to be here. I'm his caretaker after all." She replied. All Might nodded in response as they entered the main building.
"I was under the impression Fuse wasn't a fan of heroes. It must be an interesting relationship between you two." All Might pointed out as they entered an elevator.
"It was a learning experience... I was arrogant and full of myself and he was a kid pissed at the world. Even now he's still afraid to fully trust me and we don't always get along. I never imagined I'd have a kid to look after... though to be fair Fuse mostly takes care of himself. I still think I could be a better person for him." Luna admitted sighing. As they walked down the hall Toshinori smiled to her.
"There's nothing wrong with wanting to be a better person, especially not when it's to help someone else. I'm sure you're a lot better influence on him than you think. He seems like a good kid. Ah, we're here." All Might said as he stopped in front of a door labeled "teacher's lounge". He opened the door and held it for Luna who walked inside.
"I hope so... he's been through a lot." Luna said taking a seat.
"I'm aware. That's what I was hoping to discuss with you today." Toshinori said as sat down opposite of Luna. He could see Luna tense up as he spoke.
"I'm not sure I could be of much use... He doesn't like to talk about it and I don't know any more than you do...Plus I've only known him for a year..." She replied looking at the table.
"I'm aware." All Might said as he sat a familiar looking black folder down on the table alongside two other documents.
"Ah... Those... Fuse's files?" Luna asked already knowing the answer as Toshinori nodded.
"I hate to bring this up but I've seen what these types of events can do to people. I don't want Fuse to end up like them." All Might said in an unusually somber tone.
"Like I said I don't know much. Even when I tried to talk to Fuse about it, I didn't gain much. But somethings been off with him lately... I'm worried about him so I'll do my best to answer any question you may have." She replied looking up at him.
"Thank you. If I may, shall we start out with this?" He asked opening the folder for Fuse's adoption form.
"Ok?" Luna asked slightly confused.
"What made you adopt young Mida?"
"Looking back on it... it really was just a gut feeling. It was during my final year as a hero in America. I wanted to be a hero ever since I saw you on tv." Luna admitted.
"Me?" He asked with a tone of surprise.
"It was when you first started to become active in the hero world in America. I remember seeing you stop a pair of thieves that looked unbeatable until you arrived. You looked so cool standing there with that smile. It was really inspiring. As I grew up though... I lost sight of what I wanted to get from being a hero. I wanted to help people but I got so caught up in being powerful and adored... When I met Fuse he... he reminded me of you. What being a hero was all about. Not notoriety or sponsorships, not the money, and certainly not the fame. It's about helping people who can't help themselves. Making the world a better place." Luna said looking into his eyes before continuing.
"That's why I'm agreeing to talk to you. Something is wrong with Fuse but I can't help him. Maybe you can." She admitted. As All Might remained silent. His own thoughts filling his head before he took a breath and spoke.
"Luna. How did you meet Fuse Mida?" He asked.
"About one year ago... I saved his life and he saved mine... He reminded me of what a hero is."
Approximately one year ago:
"This is infuriating! Why do they get him when it was our capture?" Luna demanded angrily.
"That's just how it goes sometimes. I know its irritating but hero work isn't all fun and games." The tall man beside her said.
The pair watched as the villain they had caught was turned over to Japanese authorities.
"I know this is irritating that they'll get credit for the arrest but just look at it this way. You helped get a dangerous international criminal off the streets of two countries." The man said to the still fuming Luna.
"I guess... still annoying. And my shoulder still hurts." She complained.
"Well I would figure. It'll bruise to considering how much force was in that punch. But you did a good job Luna so keep that in mind." The man beside Luna was a tall American with black styled hair and a three-piece suit. It was a dash of red and orange with a black tie. His dress shoes finished the appearance as he watched the fugitive finally be apprehended. Wanted in both American and Japan was Nito Drogas. A large muscular man with white hair and long talon like claws on both hands. He stood at ten feet tall with brown eyes and razor-sharp teeth complimented by a white unkept beard. His dark green t-shirt was ripped toward the bottom. He also wore blue shorts and sneaker style shoes. His expression was calm as he passed the two heroes who had finally caught him.
"Don't get comfortable. I'm sure we'll fight again soon." He said grinning.
"Somehow I doubt that." Luna retorted as the man was flanked by officers of the U.S and Japan. They were currently standing in a large public building in down town New York. After ensuring the security of the villain Luna and her mentor would watch as he was escorted to a flight for Tokyo. Currently standing in an embassy like branch of Japan Luna was bored by the political process required to extradite the villain.
"Why does this need to take so long?" She asked.
"Relax. It'll be over soon," Her mentor said.
"Fine Marcus." Luna sighed as she looked around the room. It was moderately busy as multiple people came and went for various reasons. As she watched some people sign documents or explain various customs, she wondered why they were in such a public place.
Certainly, it would have been better to do this somewhere without so many people. What if something were to go wrong? There are kids here along with so many other citizens. Luna thought to herself as she locked eyes with a young teen. He was sitting beside a large desk with a pair of Japanese men seeming to be arguing. His eyes were a dull yet intoxicating gray that seemed to angrily glare at whatever he was looking toward. His hair was an unkept silver and his posture indicated he was tired. He sat next to the arguing men with his hands on his chin. As she watched them momentarily, she turned to her mentor.
"Any idea what that's about?" She asked idly.
"No clue. Though they don't seem happy. I can't understand them but usually anyone that loud isn't in a good mood. I'll ask our translator." Marcus nudged a shoulder to his right and gestured toward the arguing men.
"Can you translate them for me please?" Marcus asked the embassy assistant.
"Sure, though isn't it a bit rude?" The girl asked.
"To be fair it's a public place." Marcus said.
"Fair. Now be quiet." The girl said as she listened to the conversation. After a few minutes went by the two men seemed to stop and sit across each other now talking quietly.
"Custody argument. One says the kid is America's problem the other is saying he belongs to Japan." The translator explained.
"Is he a problem child or something?" Marcus asked.
"Not sure."
"He looks as happy to be here as you do Luna." Marcus joked as the final documents were signed. As the officials finished signing the paper work Nito was transferred into Japanese custody.
"So, are we done?" Luna asked impatiently.
"Yes, we are done." Marcus sighed as 3 heroes from Japan took their place on Nito's escort.
"Finally, let's go then." Luna said turning to leave.
"Bored already? And here I thought you'd say goodbye." Nito chuckled as he looked back at her. His talons were wrapped in cloth so they couldn't cut anyone. His hands cuffed and armed guards stood near him.
"Enjoy jail." Luna replied rolling her eyes as Marcus said his goodbyes.
"Not this time... Now is about as good a time as any." Nito said as he shook his head and rolled his shoulders. The metal cuffs on his wrists began to creak as they were pulled apart. The guard around him drew their weapons as the cuffs fell to the floor and clanged loudly. The room grew quiet as the sound of metal hitting the floor drew everyone's attention.
"Don't even think about it!" Luna yelled as she faced Nito.
"I've already done far more than that." Nito replied as he closed and covered his eyes. The shattering of glass was followed quickly by a bright flash of light and the sound of gun shots.
"The hell is going on?!" Luna shouted as she tried to look around. Her eyes unable to focus as a blurred object moved toward her quickly. She was sent flying back as Nito slammed into her. Shaking her head Luna steadied herself as her vision focused. The armed guard that was around Nito had been scattered across the room as if flung by strong wind. Standing on either side of Nito were two men Luna had never seen.
"I should have my partners introduce themselves." Nito said with a crooked grin as he gestured to his right. Standing there was a thin African man of about 5'2 with brown eyes. He wore two blue bands on both arms, one on each shoulder then another just after his elbows. His shirt was black and torn in various places and to finish the look he had white shorts accompanied by white tennis shoes.
"You can call me Darius for as long as you've got left." The man on the right said chuckling.
"Have your fun but don't forget the goal here. We get Nito back and we tear down a couple of pro heroes in the process." The man to Nito's left chimed in. He was an Asian male dressed in a gray business suit with a white tie and black dress shoes. There was a pin on his suit collar. The marking on it seemed to suggest some kind of gang association.
"Glad to see you're still boring Yota. Now that introductions are out of the way. Rip them apart!" Nito exclaimed as he charged at Luna. His claws dragging across the ground creating an ear-piercing scraping sound. Luna grabbed her head covering her ears. The sound was deafening and nearly distracted her from the now charging Nito. As he swung Luna jumped back avoiding the first and second slash. She kept back stepping to gain distance and take in the situation.
Concentrate, what's going on? Focus on the people. Luna thought to herself as she glanced around the room. Two of the Japanese heroes were down. The third was a female going by the hero name "Unpierceable". She was a pro hero who could turn soft items like cloth and wool as hard as steel with her quirk. She wore multiple silk scarfs and a purple long coat with gold buttons. The coat had a red cape sewed onto it; the inner lining of the jacket had multiple pockets for her to keep soft items in. She had short red hair and piercing blue eyes. Currently she was trading blows with Darius. Although he had the speed advantage Unpierceable's quirk was proving a strong counter. She had pulled one of the scarfs from her neck and had wrapped it around her arm. She was using it as a shield, much to the ire of her opponent. She was able to block blow after blow with the now reinforced fabric.
"Eyes upfront hero!" Nito taunted as he struck Luna's helmet cracking the visor and pushing her back. She shook her head dodging his next attack. She tried to get an idea of what was going on but couldn't take her eyes off of Nito long enough. She dodged attack after attack as her opponent backed her into a corner.
"Nowhere left to run!" Nito shouted as he swung his claws down at her.
"Then I won't!" Luna retorted as she moved a hand upward a gout of flame following her as she used her quirk to rapidly ignite the air around her. The flame shot up pushing Nito backward.
"Clever girl." Nito said as he quickly recovered.
"The last thing I need is your complements!" Luna stepped toward him using her quirk once more. The air around her seeming to hiss as she cooled it forming large shards of ice on the ground around her.
"Trying to make me cold? I thought you were better than this?" Nito taunted.
"Just figured you should chill out!" Luna called as she grabbed one of the shards.
"Going to stab me?" Nito said charging her.
"Don't you wish." Luna said as the ice in her grasp cracked as she heated it turning it to steam and back stepping.
"Back to cheap tricks?!" Nito howled as he used his shirt to wipe the burning moisture from his face. It had briefly obscured his vision allowing Luna to get out of his line of sight.
"Everyone should have a couple of them!" Luna replied as she circled around him. Luna used her ability to create a layer of ice around Nito as she went.
"This won't work a second time runt!" Nito said slashing the ice with his claws clearing a path forward. Shards of ice and pieces of the floor came up with each swipe, some going flying and others getting caught on his body.
"Glad to see you remember this trick. How about I show the second version." Luna grinned as she tapped the clasp around her neck, it released her cape witch she grabbed and held in her right hand.
"You need more than a blanket to beat me!" Nito was getting angry and swinging wildly. He had gotten rid of the section of ice between him and Luna. He rushed forward slashing at Luna.
"I don't think so!" Luna said tossing it toward him, his talons cut into the fabric easily causing it to slide down the claws as his momentum carried his strike. He missed Luna by an inch as she leapt up and swung her fist into his neck.
"Grah!" Nito grabbed his throat coughing and going down to one knee. Luna kept up her momentum by delivering a second hit to his chest knocking the wind out of him. Nito fell forward holding himself up with one arm the other still on his neck. As Luna went for a third strike, she was hit from behind knocking her away from Nito. She turned quickly to see Unpierceable had been pushed back. Unpierceable was breathing raggedly as she kept blocking Darius' relentless assault.
"Ya can't block everything! Eventually you'll drop your guard they always do!" Darius swung quickly, hit after hit bouncing off of Unpierceable's impromptu shield. He was forcing her back as she attempted to counter attack but couldn't find an opening. Luna ran toward the pair to provide Unpierceable some assistance. Getting close she saw Darius grinning wildly as he kept up his attacks. Luna surmised his quirk had to involve boosting his physical power and speed. Luna was trying to think of a strategy when the authoritative yet compassionate voice of Unpierceable caught her of guard.
"Watch closely rookie, you might just learn something." The hero's demeanor changed as she rotated her stance around Darius' next swing. As he leaned into the punch Unpierceable dropped her quirk returning the scarf to a soft state. The fabric unraveled from her arm easily as she pulled it over Darius' fist and down his arm. She pulled it quickly toward her causing Darius' to be drug along with his momentum. Unpierceable put a hand on his back forcing him to the floor, as he collided with the ground the pro hero was on his back. She forced his other hand behind him and tied them together with her scarf. Using her quirk she reinforced the restraints rendering him immobile.
"That was kind of cool but it's not over." Luna admitted as she turned her attention back to Nito. Nito had climbed back to his feet glaring at the pair.
"Two on one? Finally, a fair fight!" Nito taunted as he charged them.
"Does he ever shut up?" Unpierceable asked.
"Unfortunately, no. So let's make this quick." Luna replied as she readied herself.
"You got a plan?"
"I go low you go high." Luna said as she activated her quirk running toward Nito.
"This seems like a poor decision..." Unpierceable sighed readying another scarf and following her. She noticed Luna leaving a trail of ice behind her as the young hero met Nito. Luna managed to dodge two swipes of his claws before a third one slid across her visor. As Luna initiated her attack Unpierceable had wrapped her scarf around her hand again. Unpierceable leapt up activating her quirk and swinging at Nito striking him in his jaw. Nito grinned taking the hit without flinching. He grabbed her by the throat and tossed her aside. She crashed into a desk laying in the debris and coughing.
"I'll deal with you later for now you're not my concern." Nito shrugged turning his attention back to Luna.
"I should feel so honored." Luna scoffed as she removed her helm. The last attack had caused multiple scratches and cracks making it nearly impossible to see out of. She held it in her hand as Nito grinned.
"I break your toy? Don't worry I'll make sure I break everything else. It's only fair no?"
"You really never shut up..." Luna stood squaring up with the large man. Standing at 5'8 she was easily dwarfed by the 10-foot-tall monster before her.
"Of course not, talking keeps me focused!" He slammed his claws against her ice shattering it and sending the shards flying into the air in front of him. He rushed her again his smile was beginning to irritate her.
"I'm starting to get sick of you!" Luna shouted as she glanced around. She dodged right as Nito swung at her, her helmet falling to the ground. His claws slashing against the wall behind her. Standing up and glancing around she saw the shattered pieces of various desks and shattered glass. Smoke had begun to fill the room making it difficult to see.
"Quit running and fight me!" Nito yelled as he swung at her. Luna back stepped freezing the ground in front of him.
I really need a plan here! I can't hit him hard enough with anything I have right now. What can I... there! Luna was thinking to herself as she dodged him when her eyes saw a pile of debris. She made a dash toward it picking up a large piece of shattered wood and a bottle of water. Luna used her quirk to ignite the top of it.
"Thats your plan? A flaming stick?" Nito taunted.
"Everything's relevant." Luna said grinning as she taunted him.
"I'm going to enjoy this." Nito grinned as he walked toward her. He reared up slashing at her, Luna brought the wooden piece up in front of her to block. Nito easily slashed through it leaving her defenseless.
"Any last words?" Nito grinned cracking his knuckles. Luna had a hand behind her back as she grinned back at him.
"Tired of this trick?" Luna said as she hurled a frozen bottle of water at him. It struck him in the jaw as Luna bolted into the smoke.
Running low on stamina here... I've got one big hit left but it needs to take him down. And where is this smoke coming from? I have to find the source. Luna thought to herself. Her quirk had its limits and she was nearing them. The more she used it the less effective it was and the more it drained her body. She looked around but couldn't see much through the now thick smoke cloud. As she moved, she came to where Unpierceable had been thrown. She was gone but a few pieces of cloth were thrown about where she had landed. Luna grabbed a few before noticing a figure coming through the smoke. It was too thin to be Nito but Luna raised her guard.
"Luna? It's me. What's the situation?" The familiar voice of Marcus was comforting to her.
"Marcus. Finally, a break... Nito is still standing and I'm at my limit. Two of the Japanese guys are down and so are our guards. Unpierceable is somewhere but it's hard to find out where with this smoke.
"Ok. I can clear the smoke but after that it's go time. You'll have to hit Nito with whatever you have left. I'll handle the rest." Marcus said.
"Thats your plan?" Luna asked exasperated.
"Yep. You got a better one?" Marcus asked stretching.
"Nope..." Luna sighed readying herself.
"Alright... 3... 2... 1... go!" Marcus stood grasping his hands tightly in front of him as vibrations filled the room emanating from him. The smoke was forced through any openings and out of the building. With the room clear Nito was visible, he was standing over a kneeling Unpierceable. Luna raised her hand as she rushed toward him. She leapt onto his back planting both hands on his shoulders.
"Take this!" She grit her teeth as she used her quirk to lower Nito's body temperature.
"Get off!" Nito growled as he thrashed about trying to remove her from his back. Luna held tightly as she continued to lower his body temperature. Nito began shivering as he slammed his back into a wall crushing Luna between him and the wall.
"Let go!" He did it over and over again trying to stop her. He began to get drowsy as he stumbled around. Luna was bruised and bleeding but she held tightly as Nito fell to one knee. He swung behind him missing her by inches. His eyes closed as he succumbed to the cold, Nito passed out and Luna rolled off him. Her body was in pain and she felt like she had been hit by a truck but she had won.
"Luna! You ok?" Marcus helped her sit up.
"I'm fine, go check on everyone..." She held her side as Marcus aided the other heroes and officers. A few civilians were in the room but appeared to be fine. As Marcus returned to her she noticed the room had been heavily damaged by the fight.
"We have a problem. One of the civilians and a villain are unaccounted for." He said helping her to her feet.
"Damnit. Where are they?" She asked gritting her teeth.
"We have people looking for them. For now, we need to secure who we do have." Marcus said.
"Tch... fine... not like I can do much now anyway..." Luna sighed looking at Nito. He was shivering in his sleep but was still alive.
"Where did you learn that one?" Marcus asked as the restrained him.
"Always thought about it... never wanted to try it." Luna admitted.
"Well, it worked... backup should be here soon."
"Yeah, about that. I'll be taking my associates and leaving before they show up." The voice of Yota interrupted. Turning to him they saw the slim man holding a child by the neck. A gun in his opposite hand.
"Yota! Taking a kid? That's low even for villains!" Luna called out.
"Say whatever you like. Any of you move and I'll kill him." He countered standing opposite of them. Back away from Nito, slowly with your hands raised. Luna and Marcus glanced at each other before backing away as instructed. A few officers and Unpierceable stood by watching the scene play out. Everyone trying to think of something to do.
"You won't get far. Especially with a hostage. You'll have every hero in the city after you." Marcus informed him.
"I can assure you I have my ways. Once I leave this building you won't see us again. Besides? Who is going to miss this kid? Even the people looking after him ditched him when the fighting started. None of you even noticed me slink off with him until it was too late. He didn't even put up a fight! Now keep stepping..." Yota said as he got closer to Nito. Luna noticed this was the same kid from earlier whose custody was in dispute. Looking at him you could hardly tell what he was being held against his will. His eyes were dim and lifeless, he wasn't struggling or panicked. He was silent and moving where directed.
"We've got to do something..." Luna whispered to Marcus.
"Yeah, but we've got nothing... You're tapped out and I can't hit him without striking the kid."
"Hey! Quit talking!" Yota yelled as he looked over Nito then glanced at the restrained Darius.
I can't move him but Darius can...Good thing he's still awake... Yota thought to himself.
"Change of plans... You with the scarfs. Release him or I splatter the wall with this kid." Yota said grimly glaring at Unpierceable who begrudgingly released Darius' restraints.
"Thanks for that lovely." Darius cackled as he stood up and made his way toward Yota.
"Good... now Darius get Nito we're leaving." Yota said turning his attention away from the heroes.
"Why do I gotta carry him? Nitos heavy and it's not like he does much..." Darius complained standing beside him.
"Be ready..." Marcus whispered to Luna as he stepped forward.
"Don't move!" Yota said glaring and aiming at him.
"Gentleman please, you seem like business types so let's make a deal here. Besides what's Nito even paying you two? I'm sure I could give you more."
"Oh yeah? How much more?" Darius asked with interest.
"Shut it. Nito is boss you follow his orders. No back off hero and Darius getting to carrying." Yota said glaring.
"Now hold on here. I still haven't been paid for the last job either. Plus, heroes and cops gotta have money for hostages anyway. $50,000 and I'll give ya the kid." Darius replied quickly.
"Fucking traitor! Now pick him up or I'll kill you instead!" Yota said aiming at him.
"Better be a good fucking shot! You miss and I'll take you down!" Darius said standing opposite him.
"No need to shout I can work with both of you" Marcus said empathetically.
"Shut up!" Both of them yelled.
"You want him to move? Fine catch!" Darius yelled picking up and throwing Nito toward Yota.
"Bastard!" A shot rang out as Yota shoved the kid away dodging Nito's unconscious body. Luna rushed forward as Yota aimed at her.
"I said stay back!" He shot again clipping her in the shoulder. She kept moving grabbing the kid and taking cover behind a desk.
"It's ok. I've got him!" She held the kid as a shot fired into the desk. Marcus aimed his quirk and fired. A strong vibration flinging the gun from Yota's hand.
"You idiot! Don't just stand there help me!" Yota shouted at Darius.
"No way you're on your own!" He said bolting for the exit.
"Stay here. I have to catch him." Luna said to the kid before taking off toward the fleeing Darius. He had a decent lead but Luna could intercept. Marcus had charged at Yota who yelled in anger.
"Fine! I'll take you all down with me!" His eyes glowed purple as the pillars supporting the room began to crumble and debris from the ground was flung around wildly. A piece slammed into Luna's leg knocking her prone as a pillar fell toward her.
"Look out!" Unpierceable called out as she and Marcus rushed toward her.
They won't make it... you can. Go! Repay the debt! Be a...
The voice was cold yet defiant to his regular demeanor. Usually uncaring and unmoved by the world around him. He watched as the pillar fell toward the girl who had just saved her. She was struggling to move as the two heroes ran toward her. The world seemed to slow down around him as his eyes briefly flashed with color. A ruby and crimson hybrid that was in stark contrast to the dull gray. He moved without thinking and he rushed toward the girl. Fuse grabbed her waist as he used his momentum to pull her away from the collapsing support. The pillar crashed into the ground shattering into pieces. A blinding dust filled the room obscuring everyone's vision. Luna was safe but covered in debris the kid at her side on the ground. Luna heard a quiet whisper as the kid let go.
"Be a hero..." It was quiet and weak as the kid slipped from consciousness, his body going limp. Luna noticed the debris covering him.
"I need help over here!" She called out clearing him off and taking him into her arms.
"Luna where are you?" Marcus' voice called out through the dust.
"You're gonna be ok kid just hold on!" Luna stood gritting her teeth and gasping in pain as she stood on her broken leg.
"It'll be ok... you'll be fine." Luna said as she met up with the other heroes.
Present day:
Luna sat silently watching All Might's expressions.
"And the rest? Well, it's history...I started visiting Fuse eventually I learned he was going to be shipped to another foster system here in Japan... I didn't want to lose him and I had already planned on moving. After losing Nito and his crew I felt like a failure. I realized that I still had a lot to learn as a Hero. When I viewed America's number one, they couldn't hold a candle to you... Fuse helped me realize what kind of hero I wanted to be. I wanted to save people and be like you... So it just felt right to come here... where I could learn from watching you and other heroes around here. It helped me grow and I owe it all to Fuse. That's why I want to help him... he's a good kid and could do so many amazing things I know it. He just has to let go of his past. It holds him like a vice... When he said he wanted to go to U.A. I was shocked, this kid that wanted nothing to do with the hero world wanted to be nearly as close as he could get to them... I never thought he would make it in but he was so proud of himself when he did. I was so proud of him... watching him over this last year he's made so much progress. He's even made a friend and he used to be such a loner that wouldn't open up to anyone. I want him to succeed and have a happy life..." Luna sighed as she let everything out. She had been holding on to these emotions and it felt good to share them.
"I see... Theres a lot more to you and Fuse than I initially thought. You've had such a short time together but already you've affected each other's growth so much. You've both helped each other improve and its clear to see the effects it's had on you two. Do you mind if I continue to ask some questions?" Toshinori asked offering her a cup of tea.
"Yes of course. It's nice to get this out." She nodded taking it as the two began to talk late into the evening.
