Hiccup had just announced that Ruby would die in three days and everyone apart from Ragnar Astrid were horrified.

"Wait, do you mean she's going to die? Your joking, right?" Ruffnut asked.

"If you are, it's not a very funny one," said Tuffnut.

"It's no joke, this has always been our fate," said Hiccup. "Now there is no need to hide it from you anymore. I'm going to tell you everything, the goal of this 3,000 year journey of mine. 3000 years ago, I attempted to bring peace to both the Angel and Demon Race by a special union with the daughter of the Supreme Deity and the eldest son of the Demon King, Meliodas.

"It was love at first sight for those two, the problem was that neither of their parents approved of the union. Near the end of the Holy War, I managed to reunite them, but we were discovered, and we were punished."

"Punished by who?" Fishlegs asked.

'By two gods… the ruler of the Demon Race, the Demon King and the leader of the Angel Race the Supreme Deity. The three of us thought even though we knew it meant our deaths, little did we know that they had a cruel punishment than death.

I had no idea how much time had passed, a day, a week… there was no way to know, but I came to. Somehow my wounded body had healed back to normal again, but there was no sign of Meliodas, and I found Ruby dead on the ground.'

Hiccup remember that day as if it was yesterday, it was raining heavily, and he yelled to the sky in frustration. He had not only failed to bring about peace, but he had also lost two good friends.

'It turns out during the time I was unconscious, the Holy War had come to an end, and I also discovered even after all that time, I was still the same age. I started wondering around the continent alone, still scarred by the Holy War. Till one day…'

Hiccup had reached a canyon, and the winds were so strong that his cloak was blown away. He immediately chased after it and then saw someone grab it. He looked at her, and to his astonishment, he found someone looking precisely like Ruby, except she was dressed like a savage.

'There she was… Ruby was back, she was supposed to be dead, but she was standing right in front of me. It seemed impossible, but it was true she did have wings, but I knew it was her. It was a miracle…'

Hiccup then immediately rushed towards and gave her a big hug, but then Ruby punched him in the face.

'However, she had no idea who I was, this Ruby was born as a member of the savages, and it took some convincing for her to take me to her camp. Her personality was different, but she still had the same caring heart like Ruby. But then one day…'

Ruby then immediately screamed in pain as she clutched her right eye and it started to turn golden. Her powers and started to awaken and she began using the did heal her people much to Hiccup's astonishment.

'Something happened to her right eye and her powers awakened. Those powers coming back along with the symbol of the Angel Race left me with no doubt, I was sure of it… she really was the reincarnation of the Ruby I know. For her to be reborn with the same looks, voice, name… thinking back, it did make much sense, but I was glad anyway and did my best to tell her all about it.

'That was a trigger that was what started Ruby to remember her past life in fragments, then by the time that symbol was also in her left eye…'

Hiccup was busy crafting tools, and Ruby approached him with a solemn look on her face.

"I know everything, I remember," she said.

"That's great!" said Hiccup as he rose to his feet. "I can't believe it!"

"Listen to me, you and I have been cursed," said Ruby.

Hiccup frowned. "What are you talking about?"

"I'll explain, but first you must promise me something… no matter what happens, even if I end up dying again, you'll lift this curse."

"What are you saying?"

"Swear to me!"

Hiccup looked at her and could tell that she was deadly serious. "All right, I give you my word. Even if you die swear that I'll keep my promise to you."

"Thank you. I'll tell you everything… The curses that the Meliodas' father and my mother put on the three of us are almost unthinkable."

"Three of us?" Hiccup frowned.

"Meliodas still lives, his soul is inside of you, and he sees everything and is helpless to do anything," Ruby explained. "The curse on you and me is that of eternal life and eternal reincarnation. You'll never age again, and even if you die, you'll only be resurrected. I will live short lives as a human, one after another and each time I will forget everything about my past life.

"And if I ever regain all the memories in my past life in full, no matter what… no matter who's there to protect me… I'll die in three days. There's more, I'm going to meet you every time I'm reincarnated and become friends with you, and then without fail I would lose my life right before your eyes, and you'll be helpless to save.

'Three days later, Ruby died right in front of me there was nothing I could do to save.'

Three days after her memories returned, the wooden barrier erected around the village collapsed and landed right on top of Ruby. Now that he knew that Meliodas' soul was inside of him, he could feel his pain and it was unbearable.

He buried Ruby and then return to wander the land, knowing someday you will encounter Ruby once again.

Everyone stared at Hiccup stunned, the curse that they were under was unbearable for anyone to bear.

"It's been 3,000 years, I've met Ruby and stayed beside her 107 times. One of them…"

Many centuries have passed, and Hiccup had encountered a young girl by the name of Ruby.

"Hiccup!" she yelled cheerfully and gave him a bouquet of flowers.

She was then about a run-off but then suddenly stopped.

"What's the matter, Ruby?" Hiccup asked.

"The curse hasn't been lifted," she said as she turned to look at him and her eyes were golden. "Looks like we can't escape it."

'…starting to get all her memories back as a child.'

Three days later Ruby's house was set on fire, and she was trapped inside, the flames were too large to be put out.

"Ruby!" Hiccup yelled.

He tried to rush in to save one of the villagers grabbed him and pulled him back.

"No, it's too late!"

Hiccup then saw Ruby being crushed by the burning debris.

'… that's when it happened.'

Hiccup once again buried her and moved on, he then encounters another Ruby. She was a nobleman's daughter, and he served as her steward, pulling her coach throughout the town and serving head of the best of his abilities.

'Then there was another Ruby…'

However, this Ruby did not receive her memories and remain ignorant of her connection; well, he remained young. Eventually, though her body began to fail her and she spent her last days in her bed.

"You're such a mystery, aren't you?" she said, looking at him with her tired eyes. "It's as if time has somehow stopped for you and you alone. Hiccup, when my time finally comes, I want you to forget about the all right."

She then passed away, but Hiccup sadly was unable to feel that promise.

'She never regained her memories at all and quietly took her last breath with me by her side. Then there was the moment leading to this Ruby's birth. It happened in Danafor 16 years ago, I have been looking for a way to lift the curse. With Ragnar's help, I had hoped that we found it.'

Hiccup had met up with Ruby and Astrid, who wanted nothing to do with him, he then spoke to the one person who had been working tirelessly to reverse the curse, someone he trusted absolutely.

"Use the Coffin of Eternal Darkness?" Hiccup stared.

"Yes, the artefact that you forward with your own hands to steal the Demon Race," Ragnar nodded. "We can release the seal and free the Ten Commandments."

"You're kidding, right?" said Hiccup. "Why would we do that after sealing them away?"

"It's for Zeldris," said Ragnar folding his arms. "He wields the power lent to him by the Demon King, that power, the very thing responsible for placing the curse could be used to lift it too."

"I can't, bringing the Ten Commandments back into this world would be too dangerous. And my powers, they're way less than what they were when I fought them. Besides, I'm sure that Zeldris hates me more now than he ever has. There's no way he'd help me even if it was to free his brother from inside of me."

"I suppose you have a good point," Ragnar agreed. "Let's keep searching, we can still find another way. You might want to bring Astrid into this conversation, I'm sure she's curious how can there is another Ruby wandering around."

"Maybe you're right, and I'm sorry for dragging you into this."

"Don't be, I dragged myself into this."

'At the time we had no idea that one Demon had already been gathering it up and putting it together… it was Fraudrin. The wizards of Danafor, who worshipped the Demon Race, somehow figured out how to resurrect him. In order to break the Angel Race's seal, he needed the blood of an Angel, but by then the Angel Race didn't even exist.

'Fraudrin try to resurrect the Ten Commandments, by sacrificing all of Danafor's humans as a substitute. Dark clouds surrounded the kingdom, and winged beasts came from the Demon Realm.'

Flying beasts then swooped down on top of Danafor snatching up the civilians. The Knights of Danafor rushed in to protect the people, but they were overwhelmed, and all of them were killed burnt to a crisp.

"Offer them to me!" Fradurin roared.

The beasts flew down and dropped the civilians in the coliseum where Fradurin attempted to open the gate to the Demon Realm. The blood of the people rained down from stands and into the arena itself like filling up a bowl.

"The embrace that binds you and the kiss that imprisons you!" said Fradurin as the blood covered the Coffin of Eternal Darkness.

A beam of light that shot out from the Coffin and struck the sky and for a brief moment, it looked as if it was going to work.

Hiccup was rushing through the burning city trying to search for Astrid and Ruby desperately.

"Astrid! Ruby! Where are you?" he yelled at the top of his voice. "Answer me!"

He then saw Astrid slicing the head of one of those flying beasts.

"Astrid!" Hiccup yelled rushing over to him.

Astrid looked at him with indifference. "Hiccup, I don't suppose you can explain what's happening?"

Hiccup grimaced. "I have an idea, I'll tell you on the way, but we must find Ruby."

Ruby was currently tending to a wounded soldier.

"Hey, hang in there you hear me?" she said.

"F-forgive me for failing to protect this town. I…" His body then went limp.

Ruby placed his head down on the ground and looked at the devastation. "Why? Why is this happening?"

Fradurin was still in the coliseum which was filled to the brim with human blood, but the ritual he performed had no effect.

"I don't understand, how could this ritual manage to fail after I offered all this human blood?" he said. "Does this mean that the seal can't be broken unless it's the blood of an angel? But that's—"

"Hiccup! Astrid!" Ruby's voice yelled, catching his attention.

Ruby was currently running down the ruined streets in search for either Hiccup or Astrid.

"Guys, where are you?" she yelled at the top of her voice. "Say something!"

She then heard massive footsteps, she quickly turned around and came face-to-face with Fradurin.

"Amazing, a human unfazed by the miasma of the Demon Realm," he said and looked at her closely. "Wait, you're not are human you? And that face of yours it looks familiar." He then recognised the face belonging to the Angel Ruby. "Now I remember, you're the spitting image of that damned Angel Ruby. She rose up against us along with that traitor!"

"You monster," said Ruby clutching her sword. "You're not making any sense!"

"It would appear those human sacrifices weren't for nothing, they allowed me to discover the one I really needed for my purposes."

"Bastard," Ruby growled. "How dare you do that to them!"

Filled with rage Ruby immediately charged at Fradurin.

Hiccup had explained the entire situation to Astrid, and she was still trying to comprehend everything. Hiccup and Ruby were cursed with the worst curse anyone could imagine, and she hadn't been there for him for all these centuries.

They then saw an explosion and Hiccup feared the worst.

"Ruby!" Hiccup yelled.

Both Hiccup and Astrid turn round the corner and saw Fradurin had just stabbed Ruby with one of his sharp claws directly over her heart.

"H-Hiccup," she said, looking at them.

Fradurin turned and was utterly astonished to find Hiccup standing there. "Y-your—"

Hiccup didn't waste a single second and immediately punched him hard in the face, followed by a powerful kick. He then dealt another devastating punch that sent him crashing through several buildings.

Hiccup turned and faced Ruby, who just gave him a sad smile. "Don't cry, we'll meet… again."

She then took her last breath.

Astrid just stood there and watched as a heartbroken Hiccup approached her, she can only imagine his pain.

Hiccup fell to his knees and burst into tears. "Again… again… I tried, but I can't stop it. I am so sorry… Ruby."

Fradurin every emerge from the rubble was making his way towards them.

"Traitor!" he roared. "You won't stop me from resurrecting the Ten Commandments!"

Astrid then placed herself between the two of them and glared up at Fradurin. "But I can."

Astrid then unleashed all the anger she had been carrying over the last 3,000 years, and seconds later there was a massive explosion as the entire kingdom wiped off the map.

'For the next three days and nights, flames devastated the entire kingdom. All I could do was retrieve Astrid's body and stand there and watch feeling helpless.'

Hiccup had managed to rescue Astrid's body which was now badly damaged from all the power she had unleashed. He was now looking down at the massive burning freighter that had once held the kingdom of Danafor.

He had been searching for other survivors, but so far had no luck and to be honest, he wasn't expecting to find any. He, however, did manage to locate the Dragon key to the Coffin of Eternal Darkness though he wasn't certain what happened to the Coffin itself.

He then heard the sounds of a baby crying and saw within the rubble was a woman holding a newborn baby in her arms. She looked extremely weak, no doubt several of the bones had been broken was a miracle that she survived at all to be perfectly honest.

"It's all right," said Hiccup bending down towards her.

The woman looked at him with a pleading look. "Whoever you are… please, I need your help. I don't have much longer. Please, look after my child."

Hiccup looked at the baby and realised it was a girl, and he instantly knew that it was Ruby, being reincarnated once again.

"Ruby," he said, taking her into his arms, and then the woman collapsed.

Back in the present Hiccup had finished his tale and everyone was utterly speechless.

"Each one of them… I've watched a hundred and six Ruby's take their last breath, and after all this time, it has never gotten any easier. That's why Ruby made me promise to lift the curse, she wants to release me from this eternal suffering."

He then rose to his feet, and he looked all of them. "I really sorry, I never wanted to keep this from all of you."

"Hey, if the curse is finally lifted them was going to happen to you and Ruby?" Heather asked. "And what about the soul inside of you."

"My eternal life ends, and so does her reincarnation, it's why I'm on this journey in the first place. "As for Meliodas, I imagine that he'll be free though I can't say for certain whether that's good or bad."

Tuffnut looked at him slowly. "So that means that you'll…"

Ruffnut then elbowed him hard telling him to shut up.

"Well, I'm sure you have other things to say about this," said Hiccup.

"This is all my fault," said Heather clenching her fist. "I encouraged Ruby to get her memories back."

"They would have come back sooner or later," Hiccup assured her. "But right now we need to make our way to Xeovell and focus on the goal ahead of us."

With that everyone gathered around a map of the region and Ragnar started to explain the situation.

"The moment our objective is to rescue the hostages and liberate Xeovell," said Ragnar. "Currently it's guarded by dimension extortion that's impervious to magic power and the site that it originated from is right here."

He pointed down on an ancient city on the map.

"The city of Coland," Hiccup frowned. "They suffered a mass slaughter a few centuries back and were wiped out."

"Coland?" Fishlegs frowned. "That sounds familiar somehow."

"We're heading there now, and we will get rid of that distortion," Hiccup vowed.

They rode on through the night, and everyone thought were on Hiccup and Ruby. Snotlout was sleeping with Shanna, and now he was regretting what he said to Hiccup earlier, he couldn't imagine what he was going through.

It was morning when they finally reached Coland and Heather were standing outside in her normal size. All of them made their way outside wearing the armour and prepare themselves for a massive battle.

"We finally made it here," said Hiccup.

Ahead of them was a ruined fortress city which showed no signs of life.

"The fortified city of Coland," said Hiccup he then turned and looked at the others. "All right let's deal with that distortion and then storm Xeovell."

"Sir Hiccup there appears to be someone on the bridge," said Eret.

Hiccup turned, and indeed there was someone there waiting for them, and it was none other than Zeldris.

"Did you come all this way Ruby's sake?" Zeldris asked.

"What's he doing here?" said Ragnar.

"That means she must still be alive then, when will she ever quit?"

Ragnar looked at Hiccup with a concerned look. "Wait, this looks like a trap." Hiccup didn't heed him and immediately charged at Zeldris. "Hiccup!"
