Moving on...sort of
A month or two had passed, and nothing had changed. Rachel had got used to the silence, the daily work schedule and working on weekends keeping herself busy. Her and Eddie had moved on with their friendship not discussing their one-night stand and kind of sweeping it under the carpet.
It was midweek, Rachel had barely slept as she woke up from her extremely light sleep this Wednesday morning, very early. On the way home from school yesterday she stopped via the shop and brought a pregnancy test. After realising during the day yesterday that she had been at the school for two months now and hadn't had a period since she arrived, she suddenly thought the worst. Obviously, with everything that had happened over the past few months it was understandable that it was taking a break, but Rachel was confused, she knew she missed the occasional one, but she was settled and happy. She also knew her history with trying to conceive, so was it this simple with eddie? Surely not?
Folding back the covers, she sat up and looked at the clock next to her on the bedside table and noted the time. As she got out of bed, she picked up the test off the side and went over to her en-suite where she took the test.
Rachel came back into the bedroom getting back into bed and putting the test on her bedside table, she decided she would chill this morning a little as she was early getting up. She picked up her book and read a chapter of her book she was reading. After she had read, she picked up the test and looked at it.
"Shit" She said to herself looking at the test which clearly said 'PREGNANT'
She put the test back on the side and flopped back onto the bed.
"Oh Rachel what have you done?" She said out loud to herself.
Sighing out loudly just once more she rolled over and faced her wardrobe where her outfit for the day was hanging. Could she really face work today, seeing Eddie knowing she was carrying his baby. It was a one-night stand, two people mutual agreement, nothing else.
After another few silent moments of lying there, Rachel bit the bullet standing up and getting ready for work, she was going to do it with her head held high. To her it explained the nauseous feeling she had been having for the past few weeks and the tiredness and the constant indulgence in chocolate hobnobs of course.
As Rachel was just about to leave for work after her cup of tea and piece of toast, the postman came down the path giving her, her post and nodding good morning. Of course Rachel smiled and replied the same greeting, shoving her four envelopes into her bag vowing to read them at some point today. She got into her car and began the drive to school.
As Rachel walked in to the office she did her usual greeting to Janeece and walked through to where her desk was, where Kim was waiting for her.
"Your early?" Rachel smiled
"Kids were driving me mad, so we dropped them off early" Kim smirked.
"Actually, I'm glad, I need to talk to you" Rachel sighed closing the door and dropping her bag and coat by her desk.
"That doesn't sound good?" Kim asked frowning.
Rachel put her suit jacket on the back of her chair and went and sat on the sofa by kim.
"Whats up?" Kim asked.
"I need your advice"
"okay what on?"
"I'm pregnant" Rachel blurted out and instantly regretted it.
Kim looked at her in shock. "Wow…wasn't expecting that, but I thought you weren't seeing anyone"
"I'm not…I'm 2 months pregnant ish…that night" Rachel nodded to her.
"Baby is Eddies?!" Kim asked
"Shhh" Rachel said knowing the walls weren't that thick "I'm all over the place if I'm honest, I don't know what to do, what to think, I can't tell him"
"I can't tell you what to do, but he should know"
Rachel sighed "I know I just can't yet, I only took the test this morning"
"Morning" Eddie said coming in.
"Morning" Rachel and Kim said together quickly.
"Sorry I'm not interrupting am i?" Eddie asked closing the door behind him and joining the two women on the sofa.
"No not at all" Kim smiled. Rachel took a deep breath.
"No its fine" Rachel smiled "you alright?"
"Yeah, not too bad, you?"
"Yeah yeah fine" Rachel said a little quickly and then looked away, Eddie frowned.
"Yeah good" Kim smiled
"Good, right, so I don't have anything today for once, I've given you all my info for this week" Rachel chuckled awkwardly.
"I just have two things, Steph has phoned in sick, I took the call this morning and I'm reviewing harry this morning to see how his settling down, coming from a pupil referral unit it's a big change and his doing okay, just want to make sure we get his full potential" Kim said
"Yeah definitely, if his struggling, maybe suggest one to one support?" Rachel added.
"Yeah, I think his doing okay, we have a session later and were going to go over how his feeling and how the new foster home is going"
"If you need any help with it let me know" Eddie smiled
"Thanks Eddie, erm…that's it from me" Kim said averting her gaze to follow Rachel's to Eddie, to give him a chance to talk.
"Nothing from me, but just wanted to bring to your attention Ben" Eddie started
"What about Ben?" Rachel asked
"He just doesn't seem himself, he looks scruffy a lot, I mean what teenager doesn't, but his closed up"
"Want me to chat to him?" Kim asked
"I was thinking more Rachel" Eddie said
Rachel sighed "I would but ive got a lot to do today, can I leave it with Kim, see if she can get to the bottom of it and we can go from there" Rachel said rubbing her forehead feeling a headache brewing.
Eddie huffed folding his arms.
"Yeah sure no worries Rachel" Kim smiled
