Welcome everyone to a new chapter of Warrior's Frontier!
So, just to preface things, no, this is not out of order, you are reading the chapter title correctly.
Rather, we are changing the orders of things for this take on Frontier.
So, yes, we're going for this Beast Spirit first.
As for the rest of the order... well, you're actually gonna have to wait a bit.
I need to refresh my memory of the series as a whole at this point, so it's gonna be a while.
Either way, hope you enjoy!
Enter the Dragon! Vritramon's Fury!
It was a rather peaceful night in the Digital World as nothing bad was going on. Yet anyway. Even so, not everyone was enjoying the moment of calm. "Of course. It was too much to hope that something as small as a fall off a mountain would put an end to the inheritors of the Spirits. Honestly, leave it to those two numbskulls to not realize something as simple as that," a feminine voice frowned in annoyance, the clouds shifting to allow the moonlight to illuminate the owner of the voice. Her figure was indeed feminine, with a pronounced chest and hips, but her body was also covered in vines and leaves, looking almost like a swimsuit of plants, while her arms and legs were literal trees, her fingers and toes being essentially roots, the hair on top of her head that fell down to her back being thorny vines, while over her right eye was a flower that actually seemed to be growing out of the eye itself, her left eye being yellow, while her skin was a light green color.
"Once again it seems I'll have to pick up the slack," she sighed in annoyance. "Oh well, if nothing else, finding them is easy enough. There isn't a place in the Forest Area that I can't scout out near instantly," she chuckled, as she gestured with her hand, and from a nearby pool of water, a large flower emerged, scooping up some of the water in the process as she prepared to start searching. However, before she could start, she felt a notable drop in temperature...and the pool of water started to freeze over as well as the frost starting to cover the grass and trees in the area.
"What'cha doing, Dryadmon?" a rather icy voice said, causing her to frown.
"I could ask the same of you, Frostmon," Dryadmon shot back, turning to the source of the voice revealing a figure wearing a long blue coat with white edges, a hood resting on the shoulders, as the figure was shown to be male, with icy blue skin and white hair that was so spiky and pointed backwards they it looked like icicles, while in one hand was a long staff made out of ice, like one that would be used by a wizard of some kind.
"Oh you know me, just wandering around, bringing winter extra early, gathering more Fractal Codes. The usual stuff," Frostmon chuckled. "So what's this about you cleaning up Grottomon and Kagutsumon's messes?"
Dryadmon looked at him with a less than impressed look, before shrugging. "You're going to butt in anyway even if I didn't tell you so sure, I guess I might as well."
"How far are we from the Forest Terminal NOW?" Yang groaned as the group was once again walking through forests. It really was starting to feel like they were going in circles.
"We'll get there when we do," Bokomon sighed.
"You SURE you know where we're going?" Sun had to ask. He was starting to have his doubts about this if he was being honest.
"Yeah, you kind of keep talking and acting like you absolutely know what you're doing, but I have my doubts." DemiDevimon said as he got right in Bokomon's face.
Bokomon rolled his eyes "I DO know what I'm doing. The Forest Land is BIG, so it takes some time to reach the terminal located deep in its territory. As such, it's actually possible to get mildly lost in it if you don't know where you're going."
"Okay, so any idea how long we'll be before we get there?" Blake asked.
Bokomon...didn't answer that one.
"...why am I not surprised?" Weiss groaned. At that, an annoyed vein appeared on Bokomon's head.
"Alright, if you'd like to try you're welcome to try navigating for a change," Bokomon shot back.
The group unsurprisingly didn't respond to that one.
"That's what I thought," Bokomon huffed. "But if you're so worried about the future, why not take a peek at it?"
"How would we do that?" Ruby asked.
Bokomon chuckled, seeing he had most of them curious as well "You'll see, follow me, we're actually pretty close."
"You cannot be serious," Winter deadpanned as they were in a village of sorts which was apparently a Fortune Teller village of all things.
"I am very much serious," Bokomon nodded. "I promise that the Fortune Teller who I met once is the real deal."
"If you say so," Gyro and Pierce shrugged. They...clearly didn't really buy it. A sentiment that only grew when they met some of the 'Fortune Tellers' in the village.
"Okay, so far we got a guy who says he'll tell Fortunes based on how good a drink we give him, one creepy guy who claims to do love fortunes, and then there's the guy who apparently thinks he can see literal stars around our heads if he hits us hard enough. You SURE you didn't get suckered?" Saphron asked dryly.
"I swear that Shamamon is the real deal!" Bokomon said.
"Shamamon?" Nora asked.
"That's the Fortune Teller I want us all to see," Bokomon explained. "Unlike THOSE frauds, Shamamon actually does his job correctly and gives accurate results. He's the one who predicted to me, years ago, that I would one day meet the Legendary Warriors, it's why I studied up on them so much."
The others shared a surprised look at that "Well… that actually does sound promising." Aile said.
"Definitely sounds too good for a lucky guess," Jaune agreed.
"Cause it wasn't a lucky guess," Bokomon said, a little annoyed.
"Okay let's not go down that argument again," Rusty sighed.
"Yeah, let's just go meet Shamamon and be done with it," Bakumon agreed.
With that Bokomon led them through the village and before long they were at what looked like an actual shrine rather than just some random tent.
"Okay, gotta admit that this place actually looks like it'd have someone real," Dorumon mused. Bokomon just pushed the door open, clearly tired of having to maintain his claim.
Once they were inside, they saw a lone Digimon there, and…
"Hey… doesn't he kinda look like one of those guys from the factory?" Nora said with a head tilt.
"Huh… hey, yeah, you're right. He looks like a Goburimon, just with a different paint job." Yang realised.
"Yes, that happens in the Digital World sometimes, but more on that later." Bokomon said, wanting to focus on what was important at the moment, before he cleared his throat "Shamamon!"
The Digimon looked up from what they assumed was him meditating, before he smiled "Ah, Bokomon, I've been waiting for you to come back." he said as he stood up, looking at the group "And these must be the Legendary Warriors then… along with some friends I take it."
"That's us yeah. Guess you're the real deal after all." Gyro smirked a bit "We were hoping you could tell us our fortunes."
Shamamon regarded them for a moment...before he began...dancing? It was...hard to say exactly what he was doing, but he sure didn't look very...sane...at the moment.
"...are you SURE this guy is legit?" Rusty asked dryly, as once again they saw stuff that made them question the validity of the so-called Fortune Tellers.
"Just watch," Bokomon deadpanned.
Shortly enough, Shamamon's dance winded down, and he suddenly pointed at Yang, Blake, Jaune and Nora "You four… yes… the Beasts will run rampant when you try to use them… you must be at peace, or the power they contain will forever elude you. If you cannot find peace, then you will forever be locked in a battle within your mind."
"Uh… that sounded ominous." Jaune said nervously.
Shamamon then pointed to Gyro, Pierce, Weiss and Pyrrha "A feral mind… but with the heart of man guiding it. Quell your uneasiness, and the power shall be yours in true."
"Huh… anybody get that?" Pierce said in confusion.
"Not really." Pyrrha said with a confused frown.
He then pointed to Ren and Ruby "You both… the Beasts will listen, a calm mind, and a pure heart, exactly what is needed to tame them."
"Um...thanks?" Ren blinked, not sure what else to say.
Shamamon then turned his attention to the other humans (and faunus) of the group "All of you… an interesting future awaits you… a power once lost to this world, finally emerging again… your answers will come soon."
"Uh...okay?" Oscar blinked, not sure what to say about that one.
The group seemed like they wanted to ask more, but before they could, a tremor hit. "What was that?" Jazamon blinked.
"Probably something we should look into," Pierce frowned as the group left the building in a hurry. Too bad too, cause if they had stayed a short while longer, they might have noticed the soft red glow coming from somewhere on the roof.
As soon as the group was outside, they were hit with a wave of cold wind, before they saw the rather obvious source as the whole town was covered in ice and snow… while large snowmen were walking around and freezing everything.
"What the- Those are Frigimon! What are they all doing here?" Falcomon said.
Digimon Analyzer: Frigimon
Frigimon. Vaccine Type. A Snow Digimon. Its body is made up of snow and icy crystals, making it rather cold to the touch. Yet, below the icy exterior lies a warm personality… usually. Its special attack is Absolute Zero Punch, freezing whatever it hits instantly into a solid block of ice.
"Obviously, turning the place into a popsicle stand." Yang snorted with a frown "Wonder if these guys are evil or just corrupted?"
"Let's kick ass first and find out after." Pierce suggested, earning nods from the other Warriors.
The group quickly made their way down the stairs and once at the bottom, the ten quickly invoked their Spirits. The Frigimon were causing destruction without any real goal, a rampage that was momentarily stopped when Agneyamon fired a volley of Fire Darts at them, knocking a few over. The remainders quickly turned to the source...and were met with a pair of kicks from Loweemon and Wolfmon, knocking two more over. "Let em have it!" both brothers shouted, allowing the others to bombard the Frigimon with their attacks, knocking them all over. When they hit the ground though, they broke into snow...and after a moment, they quickly reformed back and started to fight back.
"That's different," Arbormon blinked, but they quickly evaded as the punches from the Frigimon were freezing more and more of the area solid.
"We can't let them keep going like this! Burning Salamander!" Agneyamon growled, spreading her flames around to try and melt the ice.
"I'll help too! Breezo Petallo!" Fairymon added, further fanning the flames, and the ice was melting, but the Frigimon were now trying to stop the melting process.
"Don't get in their way!" Chackmon frowned as he and Blitzmon knocked down a few of the Frigimon, with Wolfmon and Loweemon helping against some of the Frigimont that were further away, Gnomemon using her powers to keep the Frigimon off balance.
"I think we're getting them!" Sun said with a grin as the Frigimon were unable to fight back properly and the ice was slowly but surely melting.
And then the ground burst open with several large thorny vines rising up from it, several which had black flowers with red petals that sported fanged grins.
"You just HAD to say something huh?" Kaleidmon said in deadpan as she looked back at him, and Sun laughed nervously as he hid behind Saphron.
Whatever those vines belonged to chose that moment to rise up from the frozen ground, revealing a large mass of vines with a huge yellow flower attached to them that sported purple petals, a large mouth full of fangs, and small, narrow eyes.
"A Blossomon too?!" Hyokomon said incredulously as he stood protectively in front of Neo, batting away anything that got too close to her.
Digimon Analyzer: Blossomon
Blossomon. Data Type. A Plant Digimon. A giant flower Digimon that grew countless vines as a means to defend itself, and is noted to have a surprisingly long life span. It's petals tend to fall out as the seasons change, but new ones will take their place before long. Special attacks are Spiral Flower, throwing bladed flowers at enemies, and Thorn Whip, lashing out with thorny vines.
"This can't be a coincidence!" Ranamon frowned as the group scattered to avoid the Spiral Flower from the Blossomon.
"I think the fact it showed up right as we were pushing back against the Frigimon would be clue enough!" Kaleidmon said.
"I think we should focus more on getting rid of them first!" Agneyamon said, calling them to focus.
"Let's do that. How though?" Blitzmon asked.
"They're snowmen and a plant. I think the answer to that one should be obvious," Wolfmon frowned. "We'll keep them busy. You make a fire big enough to give them a burn they're not gonna forget!"
"Okay!" Fairymon said as she and Agneyamon nodded, understanding the plan.
"Just give us a good warning before you throw anything!" Arbormon cautioned as everyone save the half-sisters charged forward and started keeping the attacking Digimon distracted.
With that in motion, the half sisters immediately began pooling their power, Agneyamon creating as much heat and fire as she could while Fairymon fed wind into it to make the blaze stronger and stronger. The result was quite literally a tornado of flames "Move guys!" Agneyamon shouted as Fairymon pushed the tornado forward.
The others jumped out of the way, the spinning flames mowing through the ice and the many vines of Blossomon.
"All we're missing are some chestnuts now." Lowemon commented.
"What next, a partridge in a pear tree?" Wolfmon joked.
"That's not the only thing it did though," Chackmon mused as the heat from the flames hit the Frigimon and they too started to melt. "Looks like you got all of them."
"Guess we went a bit overkill, huh?" Agneyamon sweat dropped.
"Definitely shouldn't do that too often," Fairymon agreed. However…
"If that's all this generation has, then there's nothing to fear!" a new voice laughed, before a FRIGID blast of cold wind hit, instantly putting out the fire...but also freezing what was left of the Blossomon and Frigimon solid, before they broke apart and hit the ground.
"What the- Who's there?!" Gnomemon shouted.
"Somebody who's a lot more chill than you punks." laughed a male voice as the cold wind concentrated in a specific spot, a figure appearing there, revealed to be Frostmon "The name's Frostmon, Shadow of Ice."
"Of course you are." Chackmon frowned.
"Must you be so impatient, you oaf?" a female voice said as a flower grew out of the ground, the petals opening to show Dryadmon sitting on it like a chair with her legs crossed.
"Let me guess, you're the Shadow of Wood?" Arbormon asked with narrowed eyes.
Dryadmon chuckled lightly at that. "It pleases me to know that the inheritor of my nemesis is at least not brain dead this time," she smirked.
"Glad to know they're about as civil as Grottomon and Kagutsumon," Kaleidmon frowned.
"Don't lump us in with those two," Frostmon snorted. "Unlike them, we intend to make sure you don't walk away from this battle!"
"Don't count your chickens before they hatch," Lowemon frowned as the group readied themselves.
"Talk all you like, it won't change anything! Frostbite!" Frostmon laughed as he swung his staff, sending another frigid blast.
"I don't think so! Burning Salamander!" Agneyamon shouted, trying to counter the attack with her flames, but the icy wind proved stronger than her flames, even if her flames managed to lower the actual impact even if it still pushed them back.
"Try this on for size!" Chackmon growled, firing Romeo and Juliet in rapid succession, but Frostmon simply spun his staff rapidly, knocking all the projectiles away.
"Inexperienced still. Almost sad really," Dryadmon said, sounding a bit bored as she placed a hand on the ground. "Dark Garden."
The moment she said that, the entire area started growing twisted plants of various shapes, before the plants started attacking them, firing seeds that exploded, throwing large fruits, and generally being a problem.
"Look out! Mirror Clone!" Kaleidmon shouted, getting in the way and creating her clones which took the attacks and reflected them back, destroying the plants...which quickly grew back.
"Too bad, destroy them as much as you want, I can simply make them grow again," Dryadmon chuckled darkly. "Still, that ability will be annoying."
"Let's deal with that now then," Frostmon smirked as he gathered his power again, Kaleidmon seeing that and quickly shoring up defenses. "Futile! 9th Prison!" he called out, sending forth another blast of icy wind.
Kaleidmon had her clones ready, but right as the attack was about to hit, it instead bent around the clones and was instead circling them and her. "What?!" she gasped...right before she felt a lot colder, and before she could react the winds enveloped her. When the wind died down, to everyone's horror she'd been encased in a block of ice.
"Blake!" Rusty and Aile shouted in fear as they saw their friend get frozen solid.
"Bastard!" Agneyamon growled.
Frostmon laughed at that. "Like it? My special attack can freeze anything or anyone solid. Even among the Shadow Warriors my power is notable for being easily beyond the original!"
"And there he goes again," Dryadmon huffed in annoyance, eyeing her companion dryly.
"Where are you looking?" came Wolfmon's voice as he had surged forward and found a good position and took aim. "Licht Kugel!"
Dryadmon's eyes widened as she NARROWLY avoided the attack, but not before noticing her face was now leaking data from the near hit. "...oh you've done it now, brat…" she snarled, her eyes gaining a sudden 'fire' in them as her hand turned into what appeared to be a flower bulb that opened up and shot forward a small barrage of seeds.
"Look out!" Lowemon shouted, getting between the attack and his brother, using his staff and shield to deflect the seeds, which hit the ground harmlessly, all save for one that got through and got him in the shoulder...but even that didn't cause any notable damage. "Endlich Meteor!" he called out as he countered, catching her in the chest, and sending her flying back.
"You got her!" Arbormon said...only to stop short when Dryadmon got up, and chuckled darkly.
"A lucky shot. Sadly it won't mean anything," she said, right as the seed that hit Lowemon in the shoulder suddenly sprouted rapidly and he soon became tangled in the vines which also grew a small tree that was glowing. "Tree of Life!" she called out as energy flowed from the tree and was being absorbed by her.
"Pierce!" Wolfmon gasped in alarm, before trying to cut his brother free, but the vines were growing back faster than he could cut them.
"Hang on!" Agneyamon shouted as she ran towards Lowemon and hit the tree with a point blank Burning Salamander, managing to burn it off, but leaving Lowemon to collapse on the ground, reverting to an exhausted looking Pierce.
"Two down," Frostmon chuckled as Dryadmon's injuries healed completely.
"Let's not prolong this. The last thing we want is to repeat those two's mistake," Dryadmon said, dusting herself off.
"Fair enough," Frostmon shrugged, before the two pulled out something that made the Warriors understandably NOT happy. A pair of Spirits, and no doubt Beast Spirits at that.
"Slide Evolution!" the two called out, being covered in cocoons of data, before they emerged changed.
"Elkmon!" Dryadmon exclaimed as her body had now become like the creature she was named after, covered in green fur that looked more like moss, sporting antlers on her head that had various plants growing out of the woods, almost like they were trees.
"Chenoomon!" Frostmon growled out, his body now huge compared to before, looking almost like a yeti with icy white fur, crystals of ice growing out his back, two long, bull like horns coming out the sides of his head, and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth.
"Okay...what now?" Arbormon gulped, as to the side Agneyamon was trying to melt Kaleidmon free, but so far she wasn't making any progress.
"Normally I'd say run, but we're not really in a position for that," Wolfmon frowned, as he had his brother over his shoulder.
"So fighting is the only option we have?" Gnomemon frowned.
"Looks like it." Blitzmon said, readying her weapon.
"Damn it… I feel so useless right now!" Liollmon growled in frustration.
"No way we can fight those huge guys." Jazamon added with a frown on his beak.
"If only we could actually evolve." Bakumon said with a sigh.
"It really is a problem how scarce natural evolutions have become these days." Bokomon frowned.
"Can't you do something?" Aile asked, turning to the 'adults' of the group...and could only see both of them unsure what to do, with Winter biting her lip in frustration. It ate at her to no end to see her sister and her friends be forced to protect them.
Back in the fight, Elkmon and Chenoomon began their assault, the Warriors doing their best to defend, but between protecting their incapacitated members and the power difference...it wasn't going well for them. "Freeze Quake!" Chenoomon roared as he slammed his hands to the ground, causing a sheet of ice to form along the ground, followed by icicles which burst out, forcing the Warriors to scatter in order to evade the attack.
"You can't escape! Horn Snare!" Elkmon called out as she rammed into Blitzmon, tangling her with the horns...and proceeding to use her as an impromptu flail when the tangled up parts became like vines allowing Elkmon to swing her around.
"This is crazy! We're barely even slowing them down!" Chackmon growled as he tried to help Blitzmon.
"We all hate this as much as you do, but we don't actually have a choice here!" Agneyamon growled as they were also forced to evade more of the ice spikes.
"We gotta try SOMETHING!" Fairymon gasped.
"We can't while they have us pinned down!" Ranamon shouted in frustration.
"You're not gonna do ANYTHING! Cruel Blizzard!" Chenoomon laughed as he sent the icicles on his back flying towards the group, freezing more and more of the area again. The group was forced to use their attacks to try and minimize the damage, but even then several got through, blowing them back.
Elkmon laughed, finally freeing Blitzmon by tossing her away into Chackmon "Look at you all, scurrying around like mice, trying so hard to fight back. The Spirits really chose some useless fools this time as hosts." she said snidely.
"Isn't there ANYTHING we can do?!" Saphron shouted in frustration. However the answer she got…
"Uh...everyone? Is the shrine glowing?" Oscar randomly asked.
"Is now really the right...time?" Sun trailed off as he turned to look...and saw that yes, the shrine WAS glowing. Then it promptly exploded.
"HOLY-!" Rusty shouted before the humans (and faunus) all dived to cover from the flying debris "What just happened?!" he shouted incredulously.
Neo looked up, before her eyes widened and she pointed, everyone following her finger and having very similar reactions of shock.
Flying out of the ruins of the temple was a red, armored dragon, standing a few feet taller than a grown adult, a long tail on its lower back, golden pieces on its forearms that seemed to have gun built into them, a white helmet with a horn on the snout and two more on the back, and wings made of burning feathers.
Said dragon promptly flew right over them and made a beeline for where all the fighting had happened.
"...everyone just saw that, right?" Aile asked.
"I think we've all learned to accept that what we consider normal is most definitely NOT the case here," Winter grumbled, the sheer insanity of the Digital World grating further on her already thin nerves.
Back with the fight, the two Shadow Warriors were taking their sweet time, which they would be regretting very soon when they heard a very feral roar approaching. "Huh, that doesn't sound good," Elkmon blinked as the two of them looked to the source...and were promptly thrown off their feet when a flaming meteor of sorts crashing right into where they'd been a second ago, the dust soon settling to reveal the new arrival.
"Okay...who's that?" Fairymon blinked.
"That's…!" Bokomon gasped as he opened his book. "Here it is! That's the Beast Spirit of Fire: Vritramon!"
Digimon Analyzer: Vritramon
Vritramon. Free Type. A Demon Dragon Digimon. A Digimon possessing power of fire, inherited from an ancient warrior. A dragon with skin so hard it became armor, this Digimon is able to move through lava, and can snuff out a flame with an instant, explosive blaze. Special attacks are Corona Blaster, firing the Rudri Tarpana blasters on its forearms, and Flame Storm, erupting into a maelstrom of fire before charging the enemy.
"Wait, if THAT'S the Beast Spirit of Fire, how is it you know...like that?" Wolfmon mused. "Shouldn't it need Yang to invoke it?"
"It might have attached itself to another host for some reason," Bokomon frowned. "But that's going to no doubt cause problems, since Yang is supposed to be the intended holder of the Spirits of Fire."
"By 'problems', do you mean how Vritramon is going berserk and is single handedly kicking Elkmon and Chenoomon's butts?" Blitzmon asked...right as a stray fireball flew and hit the still frozen Kaleidmon...which promptly melted the ice, leaving a now shivering Blake. "And he just unfroze Blake too."
"Probably the berserk part?" Neemon asked as he hid behind some rubble, not that anyone could blame him.
"A point for the idiot." Bokomon sighed "That IS the problem yes." he said, before quickly going to grab Blake and helping her behind the rubble even as she shivered, she was at least able to walk.
"T-that's n-not a good s-sign." she said even as her teeth chattered, trying to warm herself up.
"We probably should do something about that," Arbormon said...right as they noticed Chenoomon get slammed through some trees.
"...but first I vote we let him finish dealing with those two. Anyone got popcorn?" Chackmon suggested.
"Dang, should have bought some in the village earlier," Blitzmon snapped her fingers.
Our heroes everyone.
The fight between the Shadows and Vritramon was...surprisingly one sided considering it was 2 on 1. Vritramon was attacking wildly, but the heat and intensity was more than enough to force the two Shadows on the defensive, but when an opening presented itself, he rammed right into them, basically making them know what a roast feels like while its cooking.
"What the heck is with this thing?!" Elkmon gasped in pain.
"Its out of control!" Chenoomon growled, but before they could try to counter…
"Corona Blaster!" Vritramon roared in a distorted voice, blasting them with intense flames again at near point blank range.
"Enough already!" both of them roared as they fired their attacks...and aimed them together, causing a massive explosion which covered the area, but when the smoke cleared, the two Shadows were gone, having retreated.
"Well they were fast to run away," Bakumon blinked.
"Only problem is, now he's OUR problem," Jazamon said dryly as true enough, without an enemy to fight, Vritramon soon turned his sights on them.
"Alright, we're down two of us, and two more would get their asses kicked way too easily." Wolfmon said, placing Pierce behind some rubble before focusing back on the rampaging beast.
"Yeah, I ain't even gonna deny it." Arbormon sighed, Chackmon nodding along with him.
"So right now, we need a plan." Wolfmon finished.
"I'll try and think of something I guess. Ruby, try and use your wind to choke his fire." Arbormon said, looking up at Fairymon.
"Got it!" she called back down.
Acting quickly she started using Breezo Petallo but in a way that was going around Vritramon who was still firing wildly, trying to get her. Fortunately she was fast enough and started encircling him with a tornado, starting to choke the flames. Realizing what was going on, Vritramon prepared to take off from the ground but…
"Pyrrha, stop him from taking off!" Arbormon shouted, earning a nod from Gnomemon as she made the ground rise up and encase Vritramon's lower body and even start sucking him in, making lift off much harder than intended. "Now Weiss, put him out!"
"You're pretty good at strategy, huh?" Ranamon mused, before sending a deluge of water into the tornado, which the winds kept inside, basically soaking Vritramon to the bone, and between the wind, the ground, and the water, he wasn't making any fires anymore.
"Now let him have it, Nora!" Arbormon called out.
"Got it!" Blitzmon nodded...and you could just imagine the grin under her mask. "Thor's Hammer!" she called out, bringing her mace down on Vritramon, and with the Digimon completely soaked...it didn't end well for it.
Vritramon roared in pain, before turning dark as his Fractal Codes were exposed, and in front of the Ring was the unmistakable form of the Beast Spirit of Fire which looked like Vritramon, but squatting down with his arms and wings tucked in.
"I got this one!" Agneyamon said, running forward and quickly pulled out her Digivice and scanned it, pulling in the Fractal Codes and with it, the Beast Spirit of Fire, and leaving Shamamon to collapse on the ground. At first things seemed normal, as the symbol of fire appeared on her Digivice...but then it all went wrong. Agneyamon suddenly stiffened, before she felt like something was pushing itself onto her, and shouted in pain much to everyone's alarm. However, before even Fairymon could get closer, she was covered in rings of Fractal Code, which soon parted to reveal Vritramon where she'd once stood.
"...anyone willing to hope that Yang's in control of Vritramon?" Arbormon gulped thickly at the sight of what just happened.
"After what we just saw? Not really…" Chackmon said dryly as true enough Vritramon roared in feral rage, showing that once again the Beast was in control, while where the previous one had been was a knocked out Shamamon.
"Alright, let's knock her out quick before she does any damage." Ranamon said, gathering up water already.
However, before the group could reuse the strategy they'd started with, Vritramon surged forward, MUCH faster than the one they'd just defeated and knocked Ranamon away before she could react.
Gasping in surprise, Gnomemon tried to quickly capture Vritramon with the Earth, while Arbormon helped her by making some plants grow to further bind Vritramon, and Chackmon tried using his Snow Bomber to wear Vritramon down even a little. However, this Vritramon proved to be far stronger, as with a mighty flap of her wings, she broke free of all their attempts to bind her easily. "Corona Blaster!" she roared in a distorted voice as well and bombarded the three with the attack, knocking them out and forcing them to revert to human form.
Acting quickly, Wolfmon quickly started firing on her to draw her attention, while Blitzmon and Fairymon tried to stop her, but they were quickly knocked away, to which Vritramon prepared to use Flame Storm, but was interrupted when Ranamon hit her with a powerful blast of water. Seeing an opening, Fairymon began trying to choke out the flames again, and while for a moment it seemed they'd got Vritramon pinned...with a roar her flames returned stronger than ever, completely evaporating the water and forcing Fairymon to recoil from the flames...and giving Vritramon the opening to grab her by the neck.
"Yang, don't!" everyone still conscious gasped in alarm, but it fell on deaf ears as with a feral roar, Vritramon descended and slammed Fairymon into the ground, the force knocking her out and forcing her to revert back to her normal state, Ruby completely out cold from the impact. The moment she did though, something triggered in Vritramon, and her feral eyes regained a gleam of intelligence...and she clearly saw her little sister, unconscious and being held by her throat...by her own hands.
Vritramon slowly backed up, hands clutching her head as she groaned, shaking her head "No… no… not again… I didn't want to... NOOOOOOO!" she roared out, before her body was covered in a cocoon of data, which soon faded away, leaving behind Yang in that same pose, before she fell down, unconscious.
"Dammit…" Wolfmon growled a bit "Well that went just splendidly."
"Yeah… at least she turned back." Blitzmon said, trying to look on the bright side.
"She's gonna be traumatized." Ranamon frowned behind her mask "That memory of her almost killing her little sister is gonna stay with her."
"She's gonna need help…" Saphron frowned sadly as the rest of them could now join the group.
"But not here," Winter said as she summoned a few Grimm constructs and had them carry the still unconscious kids. "We need to keep moving or we risk those two returning with reinforcements," she said, referring to Dryadmon and Frostmon.
"That much we agree on." Wolfmon said, taking his brother from one of the Grimm. "I think the three of us should stay transformed for now, just to be ready in case anything sudden happens." he said, looking to Ranamon and Blitzmon who both nodded, the latter of which was carrying Ren in her arms.
"Wait," came Shamamon's voice as the group turned and saw the Digimon going towards them. "I wish to accompany you on your journey," he said.
"Shamamon?" Bokomon said in surprise "But, why?"
"That girl… I woke up partway through her rampage. She pulled the Beast Spirit out of me, only for it to run rampant with her body next. I feel that I should help her. Besides, I know what it's like to have the spirit take you over, so I'm sure she'd be able to confide about the experience with me." Shamamon explained "You children are the Legendary Warriors, and I feel it's my duty to make sure you're all prepared for any evils of the Digital World."
"Well if you put it that way...welcome aboard," Wolfmon shrugged. There was no reason to deny him his request and really...right now they needed all the help they could get.
And there you have it!
Yeah, the Beast Spirits aren't going to be so easy to use this time around.
And Shamamon pretty much told you all which ones will have the most trouble controlling their Beasts.
As for what he said about the other humans and faunus... wait and see.
For now, see you all next time, because...
The Legend Evolves.
