I walk to the cabinet in the kitchen holding the hot chocolate. I grab a Keurig pod, moving to grab a coffee mug. I put the pod in the Keurig, glancing outside the kitchen window on the side of the house, facing the jogging path going into view.

I take a double look to see a guy sitting on the bench outside on the side of the jogging path. Since he's facing my back, I only see that he has very dark, black hair. I notice he's only wearing a thin jacket, which makes me frown because there's a light snow falling and it's lower then 20 degrees outside. I see him shiver.

I abandoned my drink, going to the front of my townhouse to put my coat over my tank top, slippers on my feet, gloves, a scarf, and beanie on. I grab an extra coat, beanie, scarf, and gloves. I make my way to the back door, stepping out the house, the cold cutting through my pajama pants.

I walk down the stairs of the balcony, then through the grass to the guy. I stand in front of him, holding out the warm clothing articles. The guy looks at me. My breath hitches.

His dark obsidian eyes are breath taking. He's hot. Like very hot with dark hair that falls on his forehead, pale skin with a hint of olive skin tone to it, and those eyes. Those eyes.

"Um, I saw you from my window and you looked cold," I stutter out.

"I'm fine. I just like sitting out here to take in the scenery." He says, his voice deep and raspy with a thick accent from somewhere I can't place.

"Well, just take the stuff. You don't want to get hypothermia, especially in that thin jacket." I tell him.

He stares at me more before reluctantly taking the stuff and putting it on.

"Can I sit?" I ask, looking at the empty part of the bench next to him.

"Well, you practically forced me to put this on, so sure." The guy says, scooting over.

I take a seat next to him, making sure to sit on my coat so my butt doesn't freeze.

"I'm Will," I tell him, smiling. He looks at me, meeting my eyes.

"Nico."

"Well, Nico, it's nice to meet you." I tell him, the smile staying on my face.

"You too," he says, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink. Weird.

"So, why do you like staring at this?" I ask, pointing to the woods.

"It's peaceful and quiet. I don't come here a lot, but when I do, it's normally late at night. But today was too beautiful to not come." Nico says.

I stare at the woods. It is beautiful. There's snow on the ground. A light flurry of snow is falling, coating the trees in more snow.

We sit in some more silence before I start getting cold.

"It's getting cold, want to come inside?" I ask. Nico looks at me questionably. "I've got hot chocolate." I offer, smiling.

He looks away, biting his lip. I can tell he's trying to hold in a laugh. I smile more at that. Nico looks back at me.

"Yeah."

I get up, Nico following. We walk through the backyard, snow crunching under our feet. I hold onto the railing of the stairs as we head up. I open the screen door and then the glass door. I sign contently when warmth hits me. I move out the way so Nico can enter before closing the doors.

"Wow, it's definitely a lot warmer in here," he says, taking off the stuff I gave him.

"Yeah, it's a lot better then out there. I thought I was dying." I tell him, leading him to the front of the house to take our shoes off and put the coats and things away.

"I actually don't mind the cold," he says, hanging his coat to me to put it on the coat rack.

"Don't know how you do it then. It's freezing." I say.

We walk into the kitchen. I grab another hot chocolate pod before turning to the cabinet with my collection of coffee mugs. Don't judge. Coffee mugs are the best even though I don't exactly use them for coffee.

"Okay, do you want the 'Hello, Sunshine' cup or the 'Please Don't Confuse Your Google Search With My Medical Degree'?" I ask, turning to Nico.

He chuckles lightly. "I guess the 'Hello, Sunshine' one."

"Got it." I say, turning back around to put the other one back.

"So, you're a doctor?" Nico asks.

"An intern. I just finished Med school." I tell him.

"That's cool."

"Yeah. What do you do or majoring in?" I ask.

"Photography."

I turn to look at him. He blushes.

"I know, it's stupid. But my sister got me a camera when I was younger and I kind of took it up as a hobby, moving into a better camera as I got older until I decided I wanted to do it for life." He says, embarrassed.

"That's not stupid. That's actually cool." I tell him. He smiles as I turn to make his hot chocolate.

When it's done, I hand it to him.

"Want marshmallows?" I ask.

He gives me a questioning look. "What that?"

"What do you mean 'what's marshmallows'?" I ask, my eyebrows furrowing.

"What is that? I've never heard of that and I literally just moved from Italy where I've lived my whole life," Nico says, getting defensive.

So that's where the accent is from.

"Oh." My eyebrows shoot up. "I didn't know that. Anyways, I don't know how else to explain it besides pure bliss. Just try it."

I place a small handful of the tiny marshmallows in his cup. He looks at them before taking a sip of the hot chocolate. One of the marshmallows gets stuck to his top lip. I hide a chuckle as he licks it off his lip. He eyes close.

"Wow. You were not kidding. That is amazing." Nico says.

"I told you," I say, placing some more in his cup. He smiles gratefully.

I go to make my cup, filling it with marshmallows. We take a seat at the small, circular table that seats four. It's in the area of the bay window, so we can see the front of the house and street easily.

"So, which one of these townhouses do you live in?" I ask, drinking the hot chocolate.

"I live in the next set of townhouses. The second one on the end closer to you." He says. I nod.

"Well, we'll definitely have to do this more often." I tell him, smiling. Nico smiles back.

We continue to talk until we finish the hot chocolate.

"Thank you for inviting me in. It's the most fun I've had in a while," Nico says as I take the cups to the sink to rinse out.

"Of course. This was a lot of fun." I say. I take an index card and pen from my junk drawer, writing my number on it. I give it to him. "Text me."

Nico takes it, staring at it before meeting my eyes. The corner of his lips quirk upwards.

"I definitely will, Will," Nico says.

"Was that a joke?" I ask, acting surprised. "I didn't think you could make jokes from the time I've known you."

Nico rolls his eyes. "Uh, huh. Well, I should be getting back. Thanks for having me again."

He walks to grab his coat. I hand him a beanie and gloves.

"These are yours. Why are you handing them to me?" Nico asks.

"Because this just guarantees that you'll be coming back for another hot chocolate sit in." I tell him, opening the door.

"Ah, I see. You know, you could just ask for me to come over again." Nico says, but he puts the stuff on.

"Now where's the fun in that?" I ask, smirking.

Nico shakes his head, looking down to hide a smile.

"I'll see you later, Will." Nico says, walking out my house.

"See you."

I wait till he walks down the steps that lead to the front door before shutting the door. I smile stupidly to myself, feeling super happy. I giggle to myself which makes me laugh before walking into the living room to put on some Christmas movies.
