After the Devourer had taken off half of Zane's face, the revelation that his dad was a robot did not matter to Lloyd. Sure it had been a shock but it's not like it changed anything about Zane in Lloyd's eyes, Zane still loved Lloyd the same so why should Lloyd let something like this make a difference in his life. What had made a difference was that stupid grundle attack from Garmadon causing the ninja to deage. Lloyd lay on his bed in the apartment, the ninja had the bounty back after participating in the Ninjaball run,so Zane and Lloyd had their apartment to themselves again, Zane was at the Stove cooking Lloyd's favorite meal.

"Guess I can't go to school in the same grade as all my friends," sighed Lloyd.

"Lloyd, I'm sorry, I never should have let this happen," said Zane

"It's not your fault dad, it's Garmadon's, I need to increase my training so we can put an end to his reign of terror, I'm just going to miss my friends," said Lloyd

" Still though, I should have been able to convince the others to leave you out of this," said Zane

"What's done is done, and we can't change it now," said Lloyd

"I still want you to keep in touch with your friends, I'm going to homeschool you, so your education doesn't fall behind, but yes, we do need to step up your training. The final battle is getting closer and Garmadon is getting more desperate, if those evil clones we fought were just a test of the mega weapon, then we all need to be better prepared. And as much as I don't want to, I think now that the bounty is back we need to move there. I'll still keep up rent on this place so you have an address for the doctor and dentist, but the bounty does have the equipment necessary for me to train you," said Zane with a sigh. Lloyd hugged him.

"No matter how old I get, you'll always be my dad," said Lloyd.

"And you'll always be my son, no matter what anyone says," said Zane. Lloyd smiled and snuggled closer to his dad.

"Oh and before I forget, you have a doctors appointment this weekend to make sure that Tea didn't do anything else to you," said Zane

"Alright dad,so when are we moving into the bounty?" said Lloyd

"Well, Wu is explaining to the government what happened so that it'll be easier for me to pull you out of school and teach you myself. But after that, and after your appointment, I will be discussing your elemental training with the other ninja, you are physically older now so you'll be able to handle more physically demanding training but you still mentally 8 and therefore need to balance training with fun," said Zane

"Wait does that mean I still get to play video games and read comics?" asked Lloyd

"Since when does growing up mean you can't enjoy those things, I mean, look at Jay," said Zane

"Which one's he?"

"The blue one," said Zane

"Oh, you mean the annoying one," said Lloyd

"Touche, go look behind the couch cushions," smiled Zane, Lloyd ran over and found the brand new fritz donegan comic and three of the newest video games.

"No way! But wait, these games are for the XCube5, we don't have that," said Lloyd. Zane chuckled

"Go look under the TV,"

"NO WAY! THIS JUST CAME OUT AND SUPER HARD TO GET HOW!?"

"I had a talk with that guy who owns the comic book store and he agreed his favorite customer needed a new game system, least he could do for the one who saved all their lives," said Zane

"You're the best," smiled Lloyd

"Don't let Jay know you have that though," warned Zane

"I won't," laughed Lloyd.

Time Skip

After getting back from the past Zane was worried about how what they changed might have affected how his adoption of Lloyd might have happened. But when Lloyd ran to him shouting Dad, Zane felt relief. The only thing that had changed was the path of the golden weapons. Lloyd was playing video games after training when a call came from the museum that devourer venom had worked its way into the sewer system and had gotten on all the stone warrior figurines.

"Why is it that every time we come here we end up destroying things?" asked Lloyd

"We're Ninja, It's an occupational hazard," said Kai (HTTYD reference, sue me, jk)

They walked out of the room and Wu spotted a gray haired woman walking down the corridor.

"Misako," he gasped

"Wu, it's been a while," she said with a smile

"Aren't you going to introduce us?" asked Jay

"Boys this is Misako, Lloyd's mother," said Wu

Zane tensed with a sudden and uncharacteristic hatred for the woman in front of them. Lloyd noticed this.

"My mother?" he asked

"Lloyd ? My baby boy, you've grown so much," she said

"Get away from him," seethed Zane, getting between the woman and his son.

"Who are you?" asked Misako

"I am Zane, Lloyd's father, you and your psychopath husband have lost all parental rights over Lloyd. Didn't take much to convince the city to let me adopt him considering both of you abandoned him at a neglectful and illegal institution," said Zane, keeping Lloyd behind him.

"What?" she asked, dumfounded

"He is no longer your son in the eyes of the law," said Zane

"I left to research about how to prevent the final battle, to save him," she said, backing up slightly

"YOU ABANDONED YOUR CHILD AT A SCHOOL FOR FUTURE VILLAINS! HARDLY A PLACE THAT SHOULD BE RAISING THE FUTURE HERO OF THE WORLD," shouted Zane

Misako backed up more. Lloyd smirked a bit, this was getting good. The other ninja had never seen Zane like this.

"Now listen here, the law states that I am responsible for Lloyd until he turns 18, if he wants to have a relationship with you after that then so be it but until then you are to have no association with him unless I am present," said Zane, the venom in his voice would have put the devourer to shame.

Lloyd stepped out from behind Zane and addressed Misako.

"I don't need you in my life, I already have a parent who has done more for me and shown me more love in a single year than you showed me in my entire life, I understand you might have to come with us because you have valuable information about Garmadon and the final battle but you are not my mother," said Lloyd before walking off, Zane followed him.

Everyone else stood stunned, unsure what to do next.

"And this is why I haven't been to a family reunion in six years," muttered Cole under his breath.

Misako turned to Wu.

"What happened?" she asked shakily

"Zane is the master of ice, and as I understand it he adopted Lloyd after Lloyd escaped Darkley's and was causing problems in a village, Zane is an orphan himself and didn't want Lloyd to grow up without a home, they are very protective of each other and with Lloyd's powers I dread the thought of what could happen to anyone attempting to harm Zane,and you just witnessed what happens to a potential threat to Lloyd," said Wu

"So how do I fix things with my son?" asked Misako

"Were you ever actually planning on coming back into his life?" asked Wu

Misako was silent for a moment.

"In that case, I don't think you can, he has a parent who loves him now, even Garmadon has conceded that Lloyd is better off being raised by Zane, it also will make what must be done much easier on Lloyd," said Wu

"I suppose you're right," sighed Misako

"Once the final battle is over then you might have a chance at becoming part of Lloyd's life but trying to take him from Zane is going to result in disaster for you," said Wu, a warning edge to his voice
